  1. Yeah! Been waiting on the new Jets, and thanks about the new decal sheets. All good!
  2. I realized early on in league play that I would need to carry certain things to make quick fixes during breaks in games, and some things to have with pre-game warm-ups. I definitely don't leave home without it! My Electric Football Toolbox contains - Tweaking pliers Laser Pointer A gum eraser An emory board Small leatherman tool Cigarette lighter Crazy glue Gram scale Pen Notecards Small magnets Extra down marker and 10-yard chain Extra footballs Blank stationary player Bead magnets Double sided scotch tape Wire cutters What's in yours?
  3. I use a laser level that I bought from Dollar General. It even has the level "bubble" so you can verify that you are in a straight line. Works great, and everyone can see.
  4. Even though they're the Dirty Birds, I loved that version of the Falcons.
  5. Coleco Command Control with the controlling arms worked well as long as your controlled defender did not cross the Line of Scrimmage, and you weren't attempting to control a receiver downfield. If you intended to blitz a defender using this, then your opponent's arm could at the least interfere, and at worst, provide a shield of sorts against this sort of a play. Same with controlling a receiver downfield after a completed pass. The great part of this game/hobby is that there is so much information on the topic of base tweaking that can be easily found. The Invisibases can be easily tweaked with simple things such as scissors, emory boards, or hobby pliers. In comparison to other dynamic (toys that move when power is applied) toys and games, did an electric train work right immediately unpacked? What about slot cars? I think not. It took time, patience, and tweaking to make the set work the way you saw it on the commercial. Can you say that playing a certain current football video game is a perfect experience? I think not. If you read into it, the current "champion" in that league won the big game by calling all running plays and using a punter as his quarterback. Is that any better? Besides, perfection is a variable. A perfect game out of the box, compared to what? The great part of this game is that it is as complex as you could like it to be. You never get perfection immediately, you must develop it. The enduring part of this game is that it lends itself to being a game that can become more challenging the more you play it.
  6. Not really. The size of the board increases the difficulty level of the game. There is no necessity of relating smaller figures to the smaller boards. The figures are generally the same size because smaller boards make it easier to gain yards and score touchdowns. Larger boards make it more difficult to gain yardage and gives the defense more room to maneuver against the offense. Proficient coaches on larger boards are typically better passers, because the game necessitates it.
  7. Mike: The difference in weight between a standard TTC base and a Proline TTC base is very slight. The concept behind the ProLine bases is that they can be tweaked to a wider variety of degrees for all types of players on both sides of the ball. You can use the rookie fast ProLines to create receivers and defensive backs who scream down the field with very little tweaking required. You can use the rookie strong ProLines (these are quite popular) to get a good balance of speed and bring in some strength, and you can see these used on everyone from running backs to defensive ends. The TTC Fast prolines are great for safeties (some tweaking required) and quarterbacks, because it can give them a stable platform and can move in a variety of ways. The TTC Strong Prolines can be used for fullbacks, inside linebackers, and linemen to create a player who is a force to be reckoned with in the trenches. As always, some tweaking required. A well tweaked TTC Strong base can be an anchor of your team, weighted on unweighted, for many years.
  8. Anthony: Good to hear from you. The "Ball on the string" that you illustrate here is interesting, and this works exactly as you drew this up. So can you show us how this plays out on a post route where the DB and the WR have an equal chance of catching the ball?
  9. So here's a question on Passing Sticks for the group - You have a 2nd and Goal at the 2, and you call a passing play. If you're playing on a Deluxe Board (16x32), and you've got all 22 players on the field, how do you place a passing stick into those small spaces? I got a lot of complaints on this very thing in an old league I was in. Any advice is welcome, thanks!
  10. In Electric Football, you have people who pay a lot of attention of two things - Speed Strength So you end up hearing a lot about the strength of a defensive line, or the speed of a secondary. What about the ones who get caught in the middle? So, the question is -- Are linebackers an absolute or simply an afterthought in Electric Football?
  11. Jesse: Any of them would work fine. Some of the Gotham figs are a bit larger though.
  12. A good offensive line is more than just "strawnggg bases", as my friend would often say. They have to work in tandem for complete success. My secret is in the numbering, I have blockers who block out labeled with odd numbers, and blockers who block in wear even numbers. That way I can move a few guys around to get the blocking schemes I want. Any other ideas?
  13. They are not, but since football players are typically physically larger than typical people, the closest you could use would be O-scale. Works great for adding coaches, sideline reporters, and fans.
  14. They're plastic, so as the old saying goes, "There's always hope with water and soap". Use dishwashing soap and warm water and give them a soak for a few hours.
  15. Now that you see it, those make some great figures to make into coaches as well. Good idea, my friend...
  16. These are the teams bringing out some new looks and new alternate logos. Everyone is raving about the Chargers, but I think the Patriots are going to look really slick. New Falcons - The upside? Easy to paint. What do you think?
  17. Just remember when selling Electric Football items on any platform, being up front and honest will lead to future success in this hobby. Once you rehab the Packer fella, you state that "one player has an injury", and that it is missing 6 of the 8 end zone flags. Electric Football collectors are a picky bunch, and if you claim this as "fully intact", the negative reviews you will receive will do far more damage than you could realize. This set is not "fully intact", but you can still go a long way toward a successful sale if you're honest and open about what is in the box. How did you rehab the Packer player?
  18. You're right, it's in great condition. I'd say your best place to go to do "market research" is to go searching around on eBay. There's a little wear on the box, and a couple of things I see - Make sure you have all 8 end zone flags I don't see a down marker The photo appears to only show 10 Packer players. If the teams are 11 on 11, with the board looking that good (and it runs), I would estimate you could sell it for at most $150.
  19. As The System mentioned, please provide a photo. The game would likely be one for interest by a collector, and if that is the case, the game must include all of its original pieces, no broken players, all bases, and the original cardboard scoreboard with all of its dials and grommets. Original rulebook is also highly desired. 1971 was the year Tudor produced games with regional teams, so you had sets like Rams-Niners out west, Colts-Cowboys for the South, and so on. If the board is fine, that is, no rust, dents or scratches, and it runs, then you could ask a little more. It really depends on how good the item is. The '67 Browns-Giants 620 game is prized because it was the first and only 620 produced with the original 67 Big Men. Tudor scaled down the size of its figures for later years.
  20. Tell us about your process for finding the next great running back. What sort of base does he get? Is the "the workhorse" or is it part of your balanced attack? Who are some of the greats that you've based up? My faves (No particular order) - 2003 - Charlie Garner, Eagles - First back I ever put on a field who made an opponent nervous. He was on a single clip rookie base. 2009 - Herschel Walker, Eagles - He was on a single clip green base, and ran like his namesake. 2007 - Marcel Shipp, Cardinals - On a red rookie base, and has been my only back to rush for 100+ yards in each game in an 8-game regular season. 2010 - Otis Armstrong, Broncos - First back I had who would have opponents looking for him on the field. However, I was still iffy on passes, so this poor guy saw a lot of 8 in the box. Because of his base, he was amazing on screen passes. He was on a first run ProLine strong rookie base. 2017-2018- The Ultimate Weapon - Marcus Dupree, Breakers - When coaches (plural) tell you "I had three dudes set to cover just him!", you must be doing something right. Here was a back who had an explosive first step, and then could outrun defensive backs, and did, on many occasions. First back to gain 1,500 all-purpose yards in a season, and our regular seasons are only 40 plays per game, and only 8 games long. He was the leading reason I won back-to-back JOEFL trophies in N'Awlins, and that single-clip rookie base is the only one I can genuinely say that I ran until it wore out.
  21. Welcome to your new home, guys! Al, aren't there some other teams who need to get introduced?
  22. That 510 board came out in '68, so it's not the original 67 Big Men. They are still able to be played with any other figures that you see on the website.
  23. Jesse- If your 510 still has the Packers and Colts, then yes! Any of the figures available, whether it's the regular size or Big Men will be generally the same size one you put a base on them. Have fun!
  24. Rick - Yes, the new NFL-style numbers are easy to remove and re-apply.
  25. Hey, it looks like it worked. I see you had a reply, and I was also able to download the file. Thanks for sharing.
