  1. Been playing the game for some 15 years now. Presently have 16 teams in my league. Teams are from 60's and 70's (yes I am that old). Each team get 8 possessions per game each 2 possessions per quarter. Try to keep my games at between 2 to 3 hours per game. Typical game goes as follows: Coin toss determines who receives ball. Ball is placed in runners hand at 20 yard line and game is turned on. Do not kick off as it is easier and faster to just place ball in return mans hand to return kick. Same is done on punts as well. In my game the tackle is everything to my game Try to keep game as realistic as possible. A tackle happens when runner is touched directly on front of base anywhere on front of base by any part of opposition players base. If runner is touched on side of base by opposition it must be direct hit by opposition with front of base other wise a glancing hit to base does not constitute a tackle and the runner can continue to run. The exception is if two defenders hit runner on side of base at same time then he is down. Same rule applies to making contact to back of runners base. Found that these tackling rules make the game very realistic. When it comes to passing I will allow a completion if ball hits receiver or if ball hits within about 1/2 inch of receivers base. The game takes to long to set up to have play end using typical electric football rules on offense . On defense if defender is touching receiver going out and a pass goes to the receiver it would be incomplete unless ball hits that defender then it is obviously an interception. On pass rush I turn on game for 3 seconds if any defender travels 7 yards or more into oppositions back field it is considered a sack even if he does not touch the quarterback. Fumbles are handled the same way as most EFL rules. I found that my game is fast exciting and very realistic to the actual game. Let me know what you think.

  2. I am planning on doing a "what if?" match-up in Electric Football between two of the greatest cfb teams ever assembled, 2019 LSU and 2001 Miami. I usually just do NFL for Electric Football but I decided to do a one time college match-up and I always wondered which of these two teams was better. This is going to be a just for fun game and I will stream it live on my YouTube channel. Since it is a just for fun game, it will not have all of the time limits to set up players, make pivots, motions, and adjustments, and it will have some rule changes, but it will still be a very interesting and fun game. It will be on a running clock, 15 minutes each quarter, and the clock doesn't stop unless it is a 2 minute warnings or a timeout is called ( Each team gets 3 timeouts) I will be controlling both teams and I will keep score and make pivots, motions, and adjustments, as well as use the TTQB. Punts, field goals, and extra points will be different as for punts I will leave the players how they were from the previous play and punt the football with the TTQB from the spot of ball and wherever the ball lands that is where the return team gets to return from and I will place the punt returner where the ball landed. The punting team will get to make pivots and adjustments. For kicking extra points and field goals, I will leave everything how it was from the previous play and kick the field goal from the spot of the ball. There will be no set time to do anything, since it is a just for fun game, and I will take my time, but I will still try my best to go as fast as I can and keep the game running smoothly. I am making a team of 2019 L.S.U. Tigers and 2001 Miami Hurricanes with there actual rosters and starting lineups and each player will have a base. I am not sure when the game will happen but it should be coming soon and I will do it as soon as the teams are ready. Let me know your score predictions for the game. LSU or the U? Who ya got? It should be a pretty good game. Here us the link to my YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCTzsBq2jtuKCXVZk_uXGY_w

  3. The 29th Championship game (Super Bowl 29) has been won by the Lancers, over the Warriors, 23-7. The Lancers concluding their 2021 season at 7-2-1, met the Warriors, who finished 6-4, at Warrior Stadium. This was the fourth championship game meeting of these two teams. Interestingly, all have been played with Warriors as home team - and the Lancers have won every one. The first quarter opened with all the auspices of a defensive struggle, as the Warriors made a concerted effort to stop the Lancers' ground game. In this, they were quite successful throughout the first half, with the longest Lancers' run being a mere 7 yards. The first quarter ended in a scoreless tie, as both teams' quarterbacks had trouble hitting their open receivers - when they were open. Coverage was generally quite good for both teams throughout the game. The second quarter opened with the Warriors moving the ball downfield in an impressive drive. RB #5 ripped off a 54 yard run, and QB #12 finding the range, and hitting 3 out of 4 passes, the last being an 8 yard TD pass to WR #82, giving the Warriors a 7-0 lead, following the conversion. The Lancers responded by driving the ball downfield themselves. QB #6 hit WR #25 on a long pass (only one of three completions he made in the game), and the Lancers advanced to the Warriors' 6 yard line. But #6 was sacked by SS #30, and the Lancers attempted a FG - which went wide left. At that point, things seemed to be going the Warriors' way, but suddenly went south. On third down, inside the 10, #12went back to pass. No one was open, and the Lancers were getting pressure. He pitched the ball to #5, who, trapped, reversed his field, trying to avoid the safety. As he was running left, Lancers' FS #30, fell over (this is considered an injury, and he was out of the game for subsequent plays), but #5 ran right into him, making the score 7-2. The half soon ended. The Lancers got the opening KO for the second half, and replacing QB #6 with #9, began a drive in which #9 completed 4 out of 4 passes. The drive was capped off with #41 running for 3 yards and a TD. After the conversion, the Lancers held their first lead - which would not be relinquished - in the game, and the momentum shifted. The Warriors found it increasingly difficult to run the ball, with #5 losing more yardage than he gained (he finished the game with only 56 yards rushing). The Lancers continued to dominate, and #9 was on a roll, making several key completions. Late in the third quarter, he drove the ball downfield, and reserve FB #24 broke through the left side of the line for a 37 yard TD run. The Lancers now had a 16-7 lead. On the last play of the third quarter, #12 completed a pass to TE #88, who fumbled, and the Lancer's DE #98, quickly running downfield, recovered. On the very next play (the first play of the fourth quarter), #41 broke through the middle of the line, and scored on a 49 yard run. With the Lancers now leading 23-7, the Warriors replaced QB #12 with #8, but he too was unable to generate any offense for the team. #41 led all rushers with 86 yards; #9 (MVP offense) went 7-11 passing in the second half, and provided the spark the Lancers needed; #85 led all receivers with 4 catches. For the Warriors, #5 had 56 yards rushing, and #82 and #88 were the principal receivers, with 3 catches each. The Lancers had 3 sacks (2 by SLB #56 and 1 by DE #87), the Warriors only 1. The Lancers also had the fumble recovery, with dashed all Warrior hopes. There were no interceptions. Warriors' #61 (who replaced the injured WLB #91 in the first quarter) was the MVP defense for sealing off the weak side throughout the game.

  4. My collection is always changing and recently I have been collecting the tudor original 1967 bigmen teams again. I have pretty much stayed with the tudor original 1969 hogleg teams for my main collection but the bigmen collection has grown again. In the past when playing I have mainly played big vs big and hog vs hog. This tourney I am going to try and match up big teams vs hog teams and see how it plays out. As the tournament progresses I might not be able to keep a big vs hog because i have most of the hog teams tudor made...but i dont have every team in a bigman teams. I just wanted to have some fun and let everyone go back in time and see some pictures and results of the old classic teams in action....Ill post the first round games then ill show the results of the first game....big browns vs hog giants.

  12. Great opening match of the tournament! Took a while for the Giants to wake up πŸ˜‚ some of my games are like this, very one sided then all of a sudden the losing team fights back to win or gets so close. Really enjoy the unpredictability only takes a fumble or a player to become slightly open to change a game just to name only a couple of examples!πŸ™‚

  13. Ive only played hog teams against big teams 2 or 3 times....on this next tournament im going to try and match them up as nany games as i can....obviously as the field narrows i might not have the matchups every time....but im going to play as many as i can....thats why im not going to have set brackets after 1st round ...hopefully the 4 games in 2nd round can feature a bm vs hog game in each or as many as i can put together....im hoping to play 1st game tonight or tomorrow...ive already based up the big browns and hog giants.

  15. Auburn Tigers Vs Penn State Penn State take the early lead with an easy 3 play drive. Big 55 yard TD pass to #58 who slips past the defence to the end zone. PAT missed. 6-0 to PEN. The Tigers bounce back with a 5 yard TD pass to #83 who was wide open in the end zone. No coverage in the end zone by the Nittany Lions, very disappointing. PAT Good to end quarter End of the 1st: Auburn 7-6 Penn State More to come tomorrow. Hopefully two quarters of action if I have the time 🀞

  16. Seems to me that in real football, defensive players are more concerned with trying to strip the ball from a ball carrier to create a fumble rather than actually tackling someone. Too often you will see a ball carrier gain another 5 yards or more or break a tackle simple because of the effort to punch the ball out rather than actually make a tackle.
    3 points
  17. I like your style of play. On tackles I do require the forward progress of the ball carrier to be stopped to be considered down.

  18. I find several of your concepts intriquing. The one that I'm particularly interested in is the tackling. I've always maintained that if the defensive player's base contacts the ball carrier's base no matter where or how slight, the offensive player is considered tackled. But there is no situation where a ball carrier breaks a tackle. I'm going to consider adopting an iteration of your rule into my league. Thanks for sharing!

  19. So true. And I myself am guilty of that. It's so much nicer to stop worrying about minor details and play the game with all its quirks and imperfections. The way it was meant to be Nearly ditched the hobby because I was too worried about details. It's a fun game and I don't see the point personally chasing things which will be difficult or impossible to replicate (but all the power to the people who take their time on these details and innovations to the game) I'm in full agreement though. Play the game and have fun. Don't worry about the details, use your imagination. And don't worry what others think πŸ™‚

  20. Those of you who know me best, have probably heard me say this many times. Yesterday in a FB post, I found the following statement: "... decided to get back to the roots of EF by just playing and having fun!!!" So often in our quest to add more realism to the game, we take away the fun of playing the game just for the fun of it. So, I will say it once again ... "Just have fun and play the game!!"

  21. That's gonna be a wrap until probably next year. No more time to play EF between now and the 30th December. May get some gameplay in new year's eve but we shall see Thanks to all who came and viewed my tournament, left comments and gave advice. I do appreciate it More games and tournaments on the way. Along with attempting to paint my own figures. So hopefully will open doors for new ideas and other projects! Merry Christmas everyone and if I don't get a chance to post on there before then....a happy new year to all too πŸ˜€ πŸŽ„ PS: If anyone gets any cool stuff at Christmas for EF or football in general please post somewhere on the forum would love to see!πŸ˜‹πŸˆ

  24. My thoughts exactly. The brass masks look way too big, and while I'm far from a stickler for 100% accuracy I still don't like the look of borrowing-older-brother's helmet that they give off either. Considering there's only 3 (as of last count) sizes of figure heads (4 if you count the TTQB, but he's already rocking a uni-bar), you'd think Tudor would make plastic masks that conform perfectly to the curvature of their own figures. Then again it's all just a logistics nightmare right now so I can't entirely blame them. I'm debating on whether to even give my current set facemasks at all, since their faces already look beaten in. Adds character, and saves me money/time/paint. 😁

  25. Packers owned the 60s....steelers owned the 70s....the 80s saw...the rise of the 49ers...bears...giants and washington for 2 or 3 years a piece....but all 4 were in the thick of it pretty much the whole decade.....imagine if norwoods field goal hadnt been wide in that first sb appearance for the bills...they might have been a 4 straight sb wins instead of loses in early 90s.

  27. I play the game to the conditions that are currently outside. This game was played in light rain and overcast skies. I remember the old time games, played on natural grass, that often turned into mudders - for instance, the '64 Giants at Cards 10-10 tie, in which, by the second quarter, all players' numbers were completely obscured. Those were great times, a classic age! I'm in the off season now, and the big thing is adding one more player to each team's roster, bringing each team up to 31 players. To do this, I've been "modifying" certain figures by cutting off and repositioning arms. Thus, a tackle figure is changed into a LB or S; running backs become DEs or WLBs. Thus, each team will be able to field 6 DBs for next season. The results have been good, and I wish Tudor would consider selling individual figures instead of whole teams.

  28. My remaining to-do List: - Order Blue TTC Bases (Forgot to order with the teams; since there's a delay with shipping anyway I'll just order next weekend) - Order 6 more TTQBs (already have 12) - Order Field Covers - Order Tudor Motors, Ultimate Converter, and Controllers (already have my own wiring, power supply, and cabling) - Buy & Cut Plexiglass, Angled Brackets, Small Machine Screws, and possibly netting for End Zones - Buy & Cut Lumber for Frame - Wire up LED Lights for Penalties, Time-Outs, Made/Missed FGs (Optional) - Order Refs, Coaches, and etc. Sideline Figures (Optional)

  29. That's a really good point, the bases probably have more to do with player performance than the figure itself, within reason of course. I'm looking forward to that game as well, as I really don't hear anyone talk about any good classic Bears/Vikes match ups (then again I was born in 1990 and they've both been mediocre-to-terrible since the late 80s, outside of a couple fluke seasons here and there) so this will be a good mix from the usual games. πŸ‘

  30. I'm following this Tourney with a lot of gusto, as I'm planning on using both 67 Big Men and the Regular Haiti/Hog Leg sized figures in my league to represent players over and equal to/under 6'3", respectively. So far it looks like the extra .05" of height doesn't necessarily mean the Big Men are the Alpha Wolves I thought they might be, as it's 1-1 for each size and both games with close scores. 😁

  33. Thanks guys, I know it'll be a pretty grand undertaking but I see it as making up for lost time, since I only got into Electric Football a few years ago. I would have loved it as a kid for sure. 😁 I'm definitely not a professional woodworker nor electrical engineer, but I figure if I can build bass traps for my music room and can wire up a guitar and some effects pedals, I can make a box with a sheet of metal in it and hook up a mostly pre-assembled set of motors lol. Just don't judge my miter joints and pocket holes too harshly. Paint & Putty is the ultimate equalizer after all. πŸ˜†

  36. That's more or less what I plan to use; my logic being that if he can touch a runner's base from his front (the figure's front, which is not necessarily only the front face of his base if he's rotated a bit), he can believably wrap his arms around the runner. Defenders touching the back of a runner's base while facing forward would just be a chase down tackle in that scenario, though I can definitely see the logic of making that a broken tackle as you don't seem to see those as much anymore for some reason. πŸ€”

  37. I dont count a touch ( tackle ) if the defensive player has his back to the runner....but if the bases touch and the defensive player is facing the ball carrier from any angle...the runner is down.....but it is like someone else said....its what works for you that makes this great game of ours enjoyable.

  40. Finally got around to making a logo, it's pretty simple but I think it gets the point across. As soon as I can figure out how to curve text in Inkscape, I'll give it some perimeter text. I also placed the logo in the scoring End Zones, changed the sideline color to black in the American league, and adjusted the goal line back by a half yard, because apparently I had it on the wrong side of original measurement. 😳 Next on the to-do list are Logos for each League to be placed in the Defensive End Zones, then I can get them off to be printed. I'm so excited to have somethings finally coming together!

  43. Awesome, I will have to see if it's on a streaming service or Redbox or something. I remember when it came out I was probably in my late teens or so and really wanted to see it but just never did for some reason. I probably had to choose between watching Leatherheads and Harry Potter or something that year. πŸ˜† Old Time sports fascinate me, often times way more than the modern stuff. I was watching a documentary on James Naismith and early 20th century basketball a few days ago, and despite my relative lack of basketball knowledge or fandom (probably because I'm a 5'11" Scots-Irish/Abenaki guy with T-Rex arms πŸ˜†) I still watched the entire thing with gusto. It's also on my bucket list to go up North and catch an Old Time baseball game, with no fences, lights, brown balls, bare hands, etc. But that's enough off-topic for me today. πŸ˜‹

  46. This is a very interesting post to stumble upon today, for the sheer fact that I was debating on doing something similar with mine since I generally only buy pre-printed figures and maybe add some touches of paint here and there. I'm honestly not a huge NFL fan anymore, but I like the Arena Football League (RIP) and Indoor Football in General so I still play 7 and 8 man EF games based on those leagues. Last week I noticed that a lot of the teams that I have look similar to local High School Football teams, so perhaps I could introduce EF to some of my younger cousins and such. But I digress.... I can add a couple teams to the "Purple & White and/or Gold" aka Vikings category, for colleges at from both ends of my State: 1) Western Carolina University Catamounts (my alma matter, and yes I know they suck at Football πŸ˜‹). 2) East Carolina University Pirates (actually decent some times, definitely good to have if you're playing Duke and NC State as they're kinda-sorta rivals or at least they used to be) I'll also add Appalachian State Mountaineers to the "Black and Yellow" aka Steelers/Iowa category. One of the better football schools here in North Carolina, and probably had the biggest upset victory in College Football against a big Michigan University, forgot which one but someone here will know. They were also Western Carolina's biggest rival until they got too good and moved to a better division during my Senior Year. πŸ˜† Hope these help, and I second the Canadian Football recommendations. πŸ‘

  47. I purchased the Ohio State offense and defense packages. My first thoughts were that the detail was incredible and was very happy that the figures were pre-painted flesh tone and pedestal. Like the Beenutt figures. However I didn't think applying the Uni-Forms to the figure was easy at all nor did they look so good once they were complete. I think this is a great idea but probably the wrong material. Maybe a pre cut waterslide decal instead of the wrap. Also please consider the flesh tones and pedestal pre-painting for your Fab 5 and Mean 13 squads. Would love to see Tudor make an offense and defense squad out of Fab 5 and Mean 13 sold separate from the current two packages. Merry Christmas everyone and keep playing the coolest game ever!
