  1. That's good stuff Coach. Kind of reminds me of 2 a days in High school with all those drills 😵‍💫 I think what I'll have to do is basically the same thing, except I'll use the Power bases against the Strength bases and the Strength bases against the Speed bases....but with a slight twist. What if I make the Speed bases a gram or two heavier than the Strength bases and the Strength bases slightly heavier than the Power bases? Perhaps more than 1 gram? How much more will it take for the faster base to out block the stronger one? Vegas is now setting odds... Some other dude, I think he used to repair the Cable TV, once said: "Git R Done!" 🤠
  2. I'm kind of surprised Tudor doesn't carry any...
  3. One of the main differences between chess and checkers is the simple fact that in checkers, every piece is exactly the same (not unlike communism), unless of course the checker piece gets "Kinged". Chess is more like capitalism (not to get political, LOL) in the sense that it allows for different strengths/weaknesses as well as overall ability and rating. My goal is to create as many unique characteristics in electric football with regard to player abilities as I can. One of the best ways I've discovered so far, is to get different bases for different positions. ITZ makes what's called a "Blitz Base", which come in three different ability types: Power, Strength (a combination of Power and Speed) and Speed. This translates to Lineman using the Power bases, TE's, FB's and Linebackers using the Strength bases, and backs and receivers using the speed ones. Does anyone know of any other types of bases that allow for differing strengths/weaknesses? I'm thinking the CL-2 bases also made by ITZ have three categories: Forumula 100 being power, formula 55 for strength, and formula 37 is speed. Does that seem correct? What do you experts think?
  4. The part with putty begins at about the 5 and half minute mark and runs for about a minute. FYI, there's a good picture of what a base looks like with putty underneath it at around 6 minutes and 15 seconds to 6:20. Hope this helps.
  5. I'm still a beginner and learning the ropes, but I've discovered the magic of putty. Tudor games has some here: https://tudorgames.com/scotch-removable-adhesive-putty.html And if you're really looking to add weight, there's a denser putty called tungsten putty here: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Hobbies-Collecting/Pine-Cars/Tungsten-Putty-Weight/p/28427 I've used both, but Tungsten allows you to go heavier, or just use really small amounts if you're only adding a gram or so. Don't forget to make sure you've got a scale to measure grams: https://www.uline.com/Grp_382/Compact-Bench-Scales?pricode=WZ352&AdKeyword=precision gram scales&AdMatchtype=e&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAibeuBhAAEiwAiXBoJKpOFwnTo70OXrwU0c1aaSgH9oFSnwPD0e1l0IJK0KTIve5MYi9alBoCbRsQAvD_BwE
  6. Yeah, I'm sure those two situations create a lot of work/stress for the head man in charge... The couple of times I spoke with him over the phone, he seems like a genuine guy who cares about his product. Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know if Tudor is growing at this point? Or, is it too early to tell whether or not sales have increased (not that more sales necessarily quantifies as an overall improved product).
  7. In the future, I plan to try to tweak some bases myself. However as I'm trying to get started initially, I felt like it would be a good idea to have someone else do it for me so I can field a team or two while I'm learning. The man the myth the legend, Mr. Nutt called me today to inform me the CL-2 bases he's been working on are ready. Hopefully, they'll perform at a good enough level so I can begin my journey of taking over the world. Oh wait, never mind...I meant good enough to hopefully being able to compete in a tournament someday and win a game or two.
  8. 👍Thank goodness. I thought I had posted something inappropriate and gotten banned, LOL.
  9. That's Awesome Coach. We should all have someone (or someone's) who help keep us sharp and accountable. 💪🤝
  10. Very interesting. That actually makes a lot of sense now. The extra weight under the base (with putty, nuts/bolts or something else?) compensates for the added weight on the figures from all the bling bling, LOL. OK, I don't want to belabor the point with too many questions here coach, but if you were in a truly open division, and there was no weight limit set, and Al Davis was saying: "Just win Baby!", do you know what would be your ideal weight for the 3 levels (which include Lineman, TE's FB's and Linebackers, and backs/receivers)? Would you go by the chart you uploaded called: "Cumulative Weight Distribution", or would you go higher? Cumulative Weight Distribution.pdf
  11. You're probably ahead of me on this too, LOL, but you should document this and share it with the EF community if it works well (doesn't have to be perfect). Then, just add commentary on how it might be "tweaked" for subtle improvements. Yes. This is something I've begun to notice. In fact, I'm still in the process if trying to decide which rules to go by. It's not that I'm afraid to implement my own rules (I'm adding franchise players and weighting my bases over 4 grams), but I didn't want to deviate to far from the tournaments rules just in case I might want to try to enter one someday. That way, the rules won't seem to foreign to me like I'm sure they are from some coaches who are really good, but might lose simply on account of not knowing the specific rules, LOL. Yeah, I can definitely understand the dilemma there. It probably helps to make everyone understand that you're doing your best to try to find a happy medium and that everyone has to give and take a little bit in order for it to work. To some degree, that's kind of how life is though, right? BTW, do you happen to know where the idea of 4 grams is the heaviest weight limit for tournaments comes from? Just curious if it was made at a point in time when bases were made differently, and now that things have changed slightly, so should the rulesets?
  12. That's Awesome. They probably either were rewarding your persistence, determination and diligence, or were just getting sick and tired of the sound of the tapping.😂 J/K. It's good to know I wasn't alone, lol. Thanks for sharing... Thanks Coach. You're obviously blessed with a good mind to be able to do something like that at such a young age. I think I'll avoid playing against you in any potential tournaments on account that your strategy would leave me wondering where the ball carrier came from and where he's going, 🤯 I wish I had found this hobby sooner, as it reminds me a little bit of chess/checkers (with a slight twist, LOL). Video games aren't really an option for me, so it just seems like a nice way to unwind and enjoy using your mind in a relaxing way, and hopefully a little human interaction and fellowship as well. 👍
  13. You know more than I do Coach, so there's no sense in disputing that, LOL. But, hypothetically, why wouldn't it be fair to have an "open" division where weight is unrestricted? It seems like each coach would have the opportunity to add as much (or as little) weight as their heart desires, right? I mean, if you get too heavy, wouldn't that slow the pieces down? If that's the case, then that's where the coaches strategy would come into play. One coach might like the heavy smashmouth lineup, whereas another one might prefer the speedier and lighter team. Jimmy Johnson was the real life coach who decided to be a rebel and start recruiting linebackers that were really fast, even though they gave up some size. Miami probably lost a game or two on account of that, but his strategy worked overall... Perhaps if there were restrictions, it could be limited to only using putty instead of bolts and nuts like you and Coach Chris? Not that I don't like the idea of using the bolts of course, it's just that maybe not everyone is able to do that method as easily as the putty since that requires a little more skill. Or, maybe there could be a new limit set at around 7 or 8 grams? Someone should petition Bryan Nutt and see if that's a possibility in a future tournament as a kind of experiment. ✍️📜
  14. TBH, I've never even played 1 game as of now, LOL. My Dad had a game from the 60's and I discovered it when I was like 8 or so. Unfortunately, the motor stopped working, so I remember tapping on the surface to create a vibration so the figures would move. After awhile though, that became too much so I gave up. However, I didn't give up daydreaming about it for years afterwards and I used to pretend which two college teams I would get if say, we got a new one and we were able to pick the teams... Eventually, I kind of forgot about the idea, so I guess I moved on. Then like I say, I saw some video last June and started doing some research with more videos and I ordered the game in July only to discover Tudor had just changed owners, LOL. My journey so far has consisted largely of trying to find the right people to tweak the bases since I'm still largely unable to, and also paint the figures. It's been 7 months since I ordered the game, and it still isn't ready. It's getting close as Mr. Nutt is currently tweaking some CL-2's, so hopefully I'll be able to give it ago by the end of this month. 🙏
  15. No, I didn't even realize EF still existed a year ago, LOL. It wasn't until around June when I came across a video on YT and I was like: "OMG, they still have this?!?
  16. That's a bummer. The place is only about a half hour drive for me, so I was looking forward to possibly going and watching and picking up some hints/pointers.
  17. When I think about it, it really does fit into the concept of strategy when it comes to weighing the players/bases. Some guys might make them so heavy that they move slower, but that might benefit them more than it hurts them since the opposing team would have difficulty moving them. It (the weight) should all be up to the individual coach in my humble opinion...
  18. https://images.app.goo.gl/xkHb7bi8EXh7K3k9A I have yet to try this It would be cool if Tudor made goalposts that come down when fans celebrate and climb up on them after a huge victory, LOL
  19. So, I guess it's official that Dogfish Head isn't hosting a tournament this year? Or will it be later in the year? 🤔
  20. LOL. It kind of reminds me of that scene in The Bad News Bears on opening day where all the different teams are on the field each dressed in their own uniforms. You've got the Bears in Yellow, the Yankees in White, the A's in Green, someone's wearing Red, someone else blue, etc, etc.
  21. Holy Guacamole coach! That looks like EF's version of William the Refrigerator Perry running the ball on the goal line for the 85' Bears. You're gonna bowl defenders over like bowling pins with that locomotive! 🚂 Out of curiosity, do you know what the weight is? 🤣
  22. That's not entirely unrealistic They're just imitating real life scenarios Coach...
  23. Ha! I think I'll avoid commenting on that one Coach... Coach T, surely you remember the infamous "Snow Plow" game, eh?
  24. 👍 I like it The only thing I might add is since you're making the coverage a -5 for good coverage or +5 for wide open (as opposed to a normal open where a DB is somewhere nearby), and you're giving the QB a -5 for pressure....why not give the QB a +5 if there are no rushers/blitzers anywhere in the vicinity? This might be tantamount to a Tom Brady just sitting back in the pocket and being able to focus downfield and picking apart that defense like a surgeon without worrying about the rush...
