  1. Never mind, I think I understand more clearly the inspiration for: "Theater of the mind", LOL Here's what I discovered after a brief search from wikipedia: The typical monologue began: "Well, it's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon, Minnesota, my hometown, out there on the edge of the prairie." Lake Wobegon was called "the little town that time forgot and the decades cannot improve." The monologue would close: "That's the news from Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." 🤠
  2. Coach Terry, I absolutely Love it! That is simple, but effective. 💪👊🤝 But, I just gotta' ask one question: Where did you come up with the phrase "Theater for the mind?"
  3. Interesting point Coach. So, the rule is that you must choose which method to pass by because that determines the style of coverage by the defense... For some reason, that's not making sense to me, LOL. Is it because with sticks you're playing further off in anticipation of the stick process verses trying to get inside position for the TTQB?
  4. It's like the old saying goes: "What are daughters for?"👨‍👧‍👦 Someday, I plan to have a few of my own, but it'll be a while till that financial reimbursement kicks in. Till then, I'll have to feed em' and take em' to gymnastics class, etc., etc. J/K, seriously though, that's really cool Coach Shawn. It's kind of like a family ordeal.💯👍 Thanks for sharing,🫡 Brian
  5. This seems like a good idea. You may not like the reference here, but your boy EFH (Electric Football Hero) gave me the idea in a video. He's got all the measurements figured out with regard to what number to roll for a completion (two 6 sided dice) not only for how many yards down field, but also how far across the field the QB is throwing the ball, because as you know, a 10 yard pass could be longer than a 20 yard pass if the 10 yarder is from sideline to sideline... My idea is to allow the coach who's throwing the ball to decide if he wants to use passing sticks, dice, or the old fashioned TTQB in some cases. This way, the offense can more effectively use flat passes which can otherwise become obsolete with passing sticks.
  6. The funny thing is, I almost didn't get the first one because I was thinking: USC Trojans.... Can you imagine if the Skins' were the only team I didn't get? 🤣🤫
  7. OK, I'm going with (from top to bottom): 1.) Redskins 2.) Eagles 3.) Colts 4.) Cowboys 5.) Dolphins 6.) Broncos 7.) Oilers 8.) Bills 9.) Chargers 10.) Patriots
  8. Thank you for sharing Coach Chris (and all other coaches on this thread). That's been my sentiment as well. Personally, I grew up in the 80's, so that's the era that appeals to me the most... However, I do plan on having at least one 1970's team (Pittsburgh Steelers), and I do already have a Cowboys team that includes players like Roger Staubach, Drew Pearson and Randy White from the 78 Super Bowl team, as well as other players from the 80's and early 90's. And, at some point, I'd like to get Bart Starr and the boys from the 66' packer team. And ITZ has a roaring 20's era team that would like nice in any Electric Football team arsenal: https://itzbases.com/roaring-20s-figures/
  9. Wait. You're saying there's a difference? 🤔
  10. Good afternoon Coaches My question for this topic is pretty simple, LOL. Basically, when you have someone paint your team(s), you spend more $'s. And when you DIY, you not only save $'s, but you can get the enjoyment of having done something with your own hands. However, that's a bit easier said (and typed) than done.... Basically, I'm seeing two options for the DIY and both are from Tudor: (1) Uniform teams https://tudorgames.com/nfl/uni-forms-nfl-action-figures.html (2) Painted teams https://tudorgames.com/customs/customize-figures/current-nfl-sets.html Which of these, if either, is something beginners that lack experience and tools can do? These processes may not be for everyone, so can beginners accomplish this without too much frustration, or would you recommend paying someone at first? And/or is there another option? Thanks, Brian
  11. OK Coach Daryl. It's been exactly one year. Time for an update. 😁
  12. Excellent point Coach. Hyper competitiveness is a liability (and should be penalized 15 yards for unnecessary roughness, lol ) Thanks for sharing. 🤝 Respectfully, Brian
  13. Excellent points Coach. ☝️ TBH, it is pretty rare for QB's to have that style at the highest level. So, I could potentially see it's necessary to make rules where (most) QB's can't do things like being lead blockers. However, in order to stay consistent with that theme or narrative, it seems likely that an offensive coach would need to declare what kind of QB he has. For example, on the college level, you'll have some QB's who are just as dangerous as a Running back when it comes to runs/rollouts, etc., but can't pass that effectively. And on the flip side, you'll have those who can stand in the pocket (if they're given time) and pick apart a defense, but can't run to save their lives. My point being that some QB's could absolutely block (Tim Tebow for example), but his pocket passing skills were maybe average, so why not limit his ability to pass somehow? Your summation of the solitaire version is a key take away here. One other thing might be if you play with friends (or perhaps in a tournament), you could implement "house rules" which belong to the home team (home field advantage) and as long as they're not too crazy, both sides have to abide by them which makes home field advantage great again. 😂🏈
  14. Haha! Exactly right Coach Daryl. 💯 L.T. is one of the main inspirations for this idea. In fact, with him and Joe Montana, I was actually considering giving each of the both franchise abilities, so instead of being able to use their special moves once per game, they would be able to use them twice per game since I see them as the G.O.A.T.'s (Greatest Of All Time). 💪👊😎
  15. Using the QB as a blocker is NOT unheard of on the High School level. Here's a State Championship game from 1991 that features the QB (#25) as a lead blocker on toss sweeps. Note: The first time they run it is around the 13 minute mark (fumble down field). The next time it's run successfully (with the QB actually throwing an effective block is around 19:15.
  16. This gives me an idea for a "special ability" for the Franchise players... 💪
  17. No, I totally get it. 😜 Did you check out the EFHL rulebook? The part I'm referring to begins on page 94 and only goes for about 2 or 3 pages. Most likely, I'll take what he's created and modify it so that it fits the "house rules" better. However, the idea of having 1 or 2 players on each roster with special abilities like being able to make an extra pivot even while being blocked for a defensive lineman, or having the ability to "lunge" at a ball carrier during a given stoppage (lunge being defined as being within a base length or width) to me adds an extra dynamic to the game. Otherwise, I see it as almost being communism in the sense that everyone has the exact same ability, LOL. Currently, I'm working on building an 8 team league that features mostly Super Bowl champions (mainly from the 80's). Since all these teams were so talented, it only seems fitting to have more than one player with a special abilities. I mean, the 85' Bears probably could have the entire front 7 on defense be franchised, but I'm gonna' start with 2 and go from there...
  18. Has anyone else experimented with (or at least heard of) the idea of having a player or two on each team that's like a hall of fame type player? It's an idea I began brainstorming about last Summer, but I didn't really have a solid way of implementing it. After watching a video by a man who goes by "Electric Football Hero" (EFH) on Youtube, I realized I wasn't alone in my thinking, LOL. Basically, EFH came up with a system that allows a player at any given position to have a distinct ability that could change the tide of the game in much the same way a future Hall of Famer or Superstar player would do. The system EFH created though, is partially based on a cumulative point system over the course of a season. So, in a case where you're just playing a 1 and done type scenario against a friend (or Solitaire), you'd have to alter or modify that part of the Special ability. You can see each positions ability beginning on page 94 of the EFHL Rule book (4th Edition). Also, he tries to explain it in a video (it's a little unclear, but you should get the gist of it here). Just wanting to see what you experts think and get some feedback Thanks, Brian EFHL 4th Edition Rule Book (1).pdf
  19. Yes, I'm on Discord. It might be a good way to find other coaches, but I'm sure how to go about doing that. Surely there's a way, but we'd just have to be a little creative and think what's the best way to do that... - Brian
  20. OK, so those plays seem to work well against a standard defense.... But, I need to ask about the pulling guard. Why is he lined up in the backfield like an H-Back? Is that a legal move?
  21. 😂 I Love it But the question is: "Will that force resultant in said article crossing the goal line with the ball, or will the opposing linebackers sack said article for a 5 yard loss from the resultant of that force?" 🤔
  22. For a long time, I've thought they should take advantage of their color scheme and the colorful nature of South Florida and go with something like: Aqua color helmet, orange jersey, aqua pants at home (white jersey/orange pants away). The crowd would love it and that orange would provide some energy. 💪👊 All Orange for special occasions, LOL
  23. Wow. Thank you Terry. It's simply amazing how many details are in this hobby when you dig beneath the surface. Merry Christmas brother 😎
  24. Awesome. Thank you Chris. 🤝 💯
