  1. You may want to consider which type of pint you are going to use. Acrylic paint is usually thin and most likely will need a couple of coats to cover. They are easier to keep the brushes clean than enamels are, but are pretty brittle and flake off after drying, so you will need a clear coat when you are done. Enamels can often cover with one coat, so you can paint right over the stock figures without priming if you want. When dry, enamels are tough as nails and are hard to chip off so a clear coat isn’t necessary. Acrylics come in a better variety of colors, but enamels work better when doing things like stripes where you only want to do them one time instead of having to add a second coat. Whichever you use, be patient and take your time. Invest in a good magnifying glass stand to help you with small details and get 2 brushes in each size. Use one for whites and yellows only and the other for colors so that paint doesn’t bleed. Nothing worse than using what you thought was a clean brush to paint a white jersey only to discover than the brush till had a little red in the bristles and now that white jersey is pink.
  2. Miggle brought a few of those to the convention, I think it was Detroit. The one thing I remember was how easy it was to break the goalie control stick. They lasted all of about 2 minutes.
  3. Easy, send me bases to tweak that you want to go straight. I guarantee every one will loop. 🤪
  4. We need another Motor City miracle to pull this one off.
  5. Sorry to overlook you Dave. Yes, that would be great. I’ll get back with you when I’m ready to start the league. Thanks for doing this. Give me a couple of weeks. Again, thank you. This will be fantastic! 👍👍😊
  6. Awesome team Ray. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s teams. Since you’re an avid fisherman, here’s my little fishing story. I was fishing one day and I caught a lady’s shoe. But you should have seen the boot that got away. It was huge!
  7. It's wintertime and the snow is falling. The Showboats will get stuck like a canoe in an ice flow while the Bears come alive to devour them Da Bears 27, Tugboats 20
  8. Looking forward to playing with you. That makes 6 signed up. We could go with just that but I was hoping for 10. Anyone else want in on the fun? Hoping to start in 2 or 3 weeks.
  9. Just call me Mr Hoover because my predictions suck!
  10. I use a simple method. I line up the kicking team at the 30 and the return team at the 50. Then I place a football at the 40 on either the left or right hash mark. I turn all the players towards the ball then turn the board on. The first player to touch the ball recovers it. In the event of a tie then the ball goes to the receiving team. I found this works best on a big (2x4) board. If playing on a 620 field then I set the teams 15 yards from the ball at the 25 and opposing team’s 45 to give them more room to run. It has been working for me in my solitaire seasons.
  11. WHAT? The Cherokee lost???? Rigged game.... dead people refereed ..... Who made your game board, Dominion????? The Cherokee won by a landslide, wasn’t even close...... Cherokee had the lead, then all these mysterious points magically showed up........ FRAUD! I say we should just give the Cherokee the win......Anyone who says otherwise is fired! 😭😭😭😭😩😩😩😩😩
  12. If Da Bears had Mike Ditka they would win it all. But they don’t, so the South will rise again. The Showboats are all show and no Go. Chattanooga opens up a big can of wampum whoopass on them and chops them down.
  13. Ok, I got the score wrong, but the margin of victory remains the same. Just call me Carnac!
  14. The oil pumps have gone dry. Fort Knox has this one in the bank 7-0.
  15. I see no problem with a stationary base for the QB when passing. I would include one magnetic and one that maybe had it’s prongs removed for anyone playing on a non-metal board. Like I said, you will play your games under your rules, while others will play with their rules, so they might use a magnetic base, or the one with the prongs removed or some other form. It’ll be up to them. Last time I played some games with passing sticks and others with passing dice. It all worked out in the end and the better teams usually won. Just for your info, my games were 15 play quarters (I usually play 20 plays per quarter but cut it down to be sure I got the games finished on time) I also have penalties and fumbles and played out the punts and kicked the field goals with my kickers. The best part was seeing the other coaches teams. Chris Fields had the best looking one. His Boston Stranglers were gorgeous.
  16. I don’t know what a Mag base is. You can include a TTQB if you want. Last time, I don’t remember anyone including one. The coaches just used their own, but you are free to include one. I plan on having a kicker for my team, and maybe a separate QB to pass with.
  17. I have Scott Hooper, Chris Fields, Chris LeMay and myself so far. Still have 6 slots open. You in Paul? Looking to start the season sometime in January. Any other coaches interested??????
  18. The Cherokee are just playing around with the Titans to make them look good. They’ll give Tennessee the Chattanooga Noogie.
  19. Pardon me boy, but Chattanooga will choo choo up the Titans. Meanwhile, da Bears will do a waltz on oily Tennessee.
  20. The only positive side to Excalibur was their figures. Similar to Tudor/Miggle but with an old school looking helmet and more detailed faces. I predict the Southmen make a rug out of the Bears and finish the season undefeated, the Cherokee scalp the Oilers and the Titans pull off the upset and sink the Showboats.
  21. Awesome. I have Scott Hooper signed up as well. That’s 3 down, 7 to go. Who else wants in on the fun?
  22. Definitely will wait until after the 1st of the year. The rules are simple. This will be a 4.0g league. Any regular sized player (Tudor, Buzzball, FF.net or custom as long as the player isn’t abnormal in size. Any brand base again as long as it is in the normal size range. Tweak to your hearts content. I recommend that the figure and base be glued or 2 sided taped together. This is to keep the player consistent as you don’t want the bases to end up on the wrong player. I also recommend that you use a team that isn’t too special to you in that you won’t be heartbroken if something happens to a player. The last time there was one or two instances of players getting a broken arm in transport. Stuff happens. Also recommend no face masks as they had a tendency to come off in shipping and a few got lost. Think of using a standard Tudor painted team or a team that is extra in your collection. You can set up your team any way you want. You can use an 11 player iron man team, or you can have a 40+ man roster. It’s up to you. Best to be sure to have a starting line up with positions noted included with your team. Play the game as you would your own solitaire league - penalties, fumbles, injuries whatever you use. I’m looking for 10 coaches, each with one team. The way this works is I’ll have a schedule set up. 5 coaches will get to play a game the first week. Everyone will mail their team to the coach that will play a game with them. After they are finished with their game, they will mail the teams to 2 different coaches who will then play their game for week 2. This will be a 10 ‘week’ schedule so each coach will get to play 5 games, one of which will be with their own team. Each team will play all the other teams once (9 games) and the last week will be a repeat of the first weeks games, except the games will be played by a different coach. At the end of the season, the 2 best teams will play for the championship by a neutral coach. I recommend using the US Post Office small Priority boxes for $7.50 so figure about $75 for the season though I suppose Fed Ex or UPS might be cheaper. Also be sure to cushion the players with bubble wrap or a cloth so they don’t bounce all around in the box. I’m going to install a strict 3 week time limit for each ‘week’. This will give 3 or 4 days to ship the team, about 2 weeks to play your game and another 3-4 days to ship them out again. Some guys got a little lazy last time, so I’m trying to find guys who can commit to being on time as much as possible. The main goal is just to have fun and enjoy playing with other teams.
  23. I’ve been thinking or resurrecting the Postal League and was wondering if anyone would like to play in it. What’s the Postal League you ask? Simply put, it’s a solitaire league where everyone chips in a team. The teams are mailed to coaches who play a game using the 2 teams that they received using their board and their solitaire rules. When they are finished playing their game, they send the teams to 2 other coaches who play their game using their board and rules. The teams make the rounds to different coaches and the 2 teams that’s have the best records play in a championship game by a neutral coach. It was a lot of fun and you get to see the painting skills and tweaking skills of different coaches. If this sounds like fun to you, let me know.
  24. I have a basic board frame that I switch the fields. My field cover is on a 26x50 piece of sheet metal ( I have 2 of them) My motors are on magnets that I put on underneath. When I want to switch fields, I remove the motors, switch the fields and then reattach the motors. Takes just a couple of minutes.
