  1. Ok, I got the score wrong, but the margin of victory remains the same. Just call me Carnac!
  2. The oil pumps have gone dry. Fort Knox has this one in the bank 7-0.
  3. I see no problem with a stationary base for the QB when passing. I would include one magnetic and one that maybe had it’s prongs removed for anyone playing on a non-metal board. Like I said, you will play your games under your rules, while others will play with their rules, so they might use a magnetic base, or the one with the prongs removed or some other form. It’ll be up to them. Last time I played some games with passing sticks and others with passing dice. It all worked out in the end and the better teams usually won. Just for your info, my games were 15 play quarters (I usually play 20 plays per quarter but cut it down to be sure I got the games finished on time) I also have penalties and fumbles and played out the punts and kicked the field goals with my kickers. The best part was seeing the other coaches teams. Chris Fields had the best looking one. His Boston Stranglers were gorgeous.
  4. I don’t know what a Mag base is. You can include a TTQB if you want. Last time, I don’t remember anyone including one. The coaches just used their own, but you are free to include one. I plan on having a kicker for my team, and maybe a separate QB to pass with.
  5. I have Scott Hooper, Chris Fields, Chris LeMay and myself so far. Still have 6 slots open. You in Paul? Looking to start the season sometime in January. Any other coaches interested??????
  6. The Cherokee are just playing around with the Titans to make them look good. They’ll give Tennessee the Chattanooga Noogie.
  7. Pardon me boy, but Chattanooga will choo choo up the Titans. Meanwhile, da Bears will do a waltz on oily Tennessee.
  8. The only positive side to Excalibur was their figures. Similar to Tudor/Miggle but with an old school looking helmet and more detailed faces. I predict the Southmen make a rug out of the Bears and finish the season undefeated, the Cherokee scalp the Oilers and the Titans pull off the upset and sink the Showboats.
  9. Awesome. I have Scott Hooper signed up as well. That’s 3 down, 7 to go. Who else wants in on the fun?
  10. Definitely will wait until after the 1st of the year. The rules are simple. This will be a 4.0g league. Any regular sized player (Tudor, Buzzball, FF.net or custom as long as the player isn’t abnormal in size. Any brand base again as long as it is in the normal size range. Tweak to your hearts content. I recommend that the figure and base be glued or 2 sided taped together. This is to keep the player consistent as you don’t want the bases to end up on the wrong player. I also recommend that you use a team that isn’t too special to you in that you won’t be heartbroken if something happens to a player. The last time there was one or two instances of players getting a broken arm in transport. Stuff happens. Also recommend no face masks as they had a tendency to come off in shipping and a few got lost. Think of using a standard Tudor painted team or a team that is extra in your collection. You can set up your team any way you want. You can use an 11 player iron man team, or you can have a 40+ man roster. It’s up to you. Best to be sure to have a starting line up with positions noted included with your team. Play the game as you would your own solitaire league - penalties, fumbles, injuries whatever you use. I’m looking for 10 coaches, each with one team. The way this works is I’ll have a schedule set up. 5 coaches will get to play a game the first week. Everyone will mail their team to the coach that will play a game with them. After they are finished with their game, they will mail the teams to 2 different coaches who will then play their game for week 2. This will be a 10 ‘week’ schedule so each coach will get to play 5 games, one of which will be with their own team. Each team will play all the other teams once (9 games) and the last week will be a repeat of the first weeks games, except the games will be played by a different coach. At the end of the season, the 2 best teams will play for the championship by a neutral coach. I recommend using the US Post Office small Priority boxes for $7.50 so figure about $75 for the season though I suppose Fed Ex or UPS might be cheaper. Also be sure to cushion the players with bubble wrap or a cloth so they don’t bounce all around in the box. I’m going to install a strict 3 week time limit for each ‘week’. This will give 3 or 4 days to ship the team, about 2 weeks to play your game and another 3-4 days to ship them out again. Some guys got a little lazy last time, so I’m trying to find guys who can commit to being on time as much as possible. The main goal is just to have fun and enjoy playing with other teams.
  11. I’ve been thinking or resurrecting the Postal League and was wondering if anyone would like to play in it. What’s the Postal League you ask? Simply put, it’s a solitaire league where everyone chips in a team. The teams are mailed to coaches who play a game using the 2 teams that they received using their board and their solitaire rules. When they are finished playing their game, they send the teams to 2 other coaches who play their game using their board and rules. The teams make the rounds to different coaches and the 2 teams that’s have the best records play in a championship game by a neutral coach. It was a lot of fun and you get to see the painting skills and tweaking skills of different coaches. If this sounds like fun to you, let me know.
  12. I have a basic board frame that I switch the fields. My field cover is on a 26x50 piece of sheet metal ( I have 2 of them) My motors are on magnets that I put on underneath. When I want to switch fields, I remove the motors, switch the fields and then reattach the motors. Takes just a couple of minutes.
  13. Awesome! The 60's were great for football. Just one question though. The Dolphins were in the AFL in 1966. Are you also playing the AFL with the NFL? Will you re-live the NFL-AFL championship game ( Remember, it wasn't called the Super Bowl yet)
  14. I have 2 boards that I use. The first is a custom 50x26 board that I made that uses interchangeable fields. One is my Canadian Sasquatch field and the other is the Battlin’ Bozos of Battle Creek. I just take off the magnetic motors from underneath and switch the fields and re-attach the motors. The other board is a Buzzball field that has the Flaming Fairies cover on it. I’ll be getting a new Tudor big board soon that will have a custom Weirdwolf Mennonite cover. I can’t wait to play on that one.
  15. I’m interested in the big (50 x26) boards. I want to use my own custom field cover. Can I order a set without any cover for a slight discount since you won’t have to put one on? Just wondering.
  16. To quote Ed McMahon ..."You are correct, sir!" I played a game against his Swamp Moose with my Sasquatch when we got together in Detroit at the Miggle convention. What a blast. We were up until about 2 in the morning playing. He also made the Hawaiian Fire Lizards. I kept teasing him to finish the team so I could see them all. About a month after the convention I got a box in the mail. I thought it was a T-shirt as I bugged him to send me one with his teams on it. Instead, he gave me the Lizards. They are one of my most prized possessions, not to mention how gorgeous they are. Glen surprised me, I didn't know that he was such a good painter. Alas, he has disappeared from the electric football world. If you want to know more about Glen's league, check out the 3rd issue of the Tweak at the bottom of the page here : https://www.playef.com/ For a lowdown on the Swamp Moose - Sasquatch game, look for the 4th issue and the Motor City Beatdown.
  17. Somehow I missed this whole post until now. I like the planets idea, too I just remembered that there are figures for a game called Heroclix and Horrorclix that you might want to look into. I was at the hobby store a few years back looking for some paint and brushes and came across a display that had a few figures. One of them was a Werewolf which gave me the idea to make Weirdwolf's Werewolves. They had exactly 11 figures so I bought them all and made a team out of them. All I had to do was cut off the circle base that they were on, and glue (epoxy) them onto the stands of some broken and disfigured figures that I had. I see now that they have most all of the super heroes like Spiderman, the Hulk and the Fantastic Four, as well as Alien and Predator figures. I had actually started to make some Aliens figures some years back, but forgot about them. A fellow EF'er named Walt Garrison gave me his Commando team and I use them with the Werewolves. They are a lot of fun to play with and look pretty cool too. Check them out!
  18. Thanks guys, but every 'master' had his 'master' at some point. I got my inspiration from Glen Hardaway. aka Green Bay Glen. He was posting on the old Miggle board about his fantasy league, the Unreal League. I read about them and realized that I could make up my own teams. His were more mainstream, more like real teams would be if they were in some other city. I was thinking of a bigfoot team, with a large foot on the helmet, when Doc Smeby wrote that he only uses big man teams and someone else said those guys would be over 7 feet tall compared to regular Miggle figures. Bingo! that gave me the idea to make a team of actual bigfoots (Sasquatch) and the rest followed from there. I just took the ball and ran with it so to speak. I'm glad that others have also taken up offbeat teams. I love them all!
  19. I think it’s a great idea Paul. Being a fantasy football league fan and also having a great interest in astronomy, this would be my choice for colors. Mercury - The obvious choice is silver (like the element mercury), with perhaps a black trim similar to the Raiders. Mercury has no atmosphere and from what I’ve seen, not much color other than silver/gray and black. For the helmet I would use some wings on the side ala the god Mercury. Venus - Venus is an orangey/tan color, so I would go with that. The jersey would be a creamy orange, like a creamsicle, with a light yellowish/tan pants and white trims for the home team. For away, switch the jersey and pants colors. On the helmet use a volcano. Mars - They call Mars the red planet. From my telescope, Mars was red, but it was a dull red. It also has a thin, light blue atmosphere. I would go with a rusty red jersey and a light blue pants (sky blue like the Oilers) for the home and white jersey with rusty red pants. I did a Martians team and I used a flying saucer on the helmet. Maybe use a War of the Worlds tripod machine instead? Jupiter - If you ever looked through a scope at Jupiter, it is a white and blue planet with light brown stripes. So my choice would be a sapphire blue jersey with white pants and brown stripes with a dingy white helmet with a giant dark red spot on it. Switch the pants and jersey colors for away uniforms. Saturn - Saturn is a really dark yellow (sulfur) planet. The rings are brown and black. Maybe a dark brown jersey with sulfur pants for home, then sulfur jersey with black pants for away. For the helmet, make it sulfur yellow and use some milliput to make a ring around it painting it brown with black stripe in the middle to make it look looked a separation of the ring. But the ring has to be slanted. I remember being shocked how slanted Saturn was the first time I looked at it through a scope. Maybe 40 degrees or so. Uranus - This is a pretty planet, kind of a light blue/green. So go with teal jersey with a light green (minty green) pants for home, a very light, light green jersey with teal pants for away. You could go with the obvious puckered hole on the side of the helmet 😁, or maybe a large U with ranus in smaller print trailing off. Neptune - The God of the oceans planet is a blue and green giant. Maybe an ocean green jersey with blue pants for home and white jersey with blue pants for away. Ocean green helmet with a Trident on the side Pluto - You could play it safe and go with a planet matching gray-blue-yellow-brown scheme, or go a different direction with a solid yellow/orange jersey with yellow pants with black trim for home and a white jersey with yellow/orange pants and black trim away uniforms with a white helmet and the figure of Disney’s Pluto the dog on the side. Just my 2 cents.......
  20. Reading about everyone's injury play style brought back a memory of what I think is the most bizarre play I have ever seen in over 50 years of playing EF. I had a running back who had a huge opening in front of him as the line had made a big hole for him. Just as he was bursting through, he suddenly stopped going forward and started turning in a very tight circle. My first thought was that there was a piece of lint or something on the board that got caught in the prongs. I stopped the board and picked him up to inspect his base, when I discovered that both prongs on his right front corner were missing!. I looked around and eventually found them under a couple of linemen. This is the only time I have literally seen an electric football player break his 'leg' during a play. I still have no idea what happened to him as I usually don't tweak the prongs very much, if at all, so it's not like I over tweaked them to the point where they broke. And having BOTH break off at the same time was truly strange.
  21. I use the NFL method. If I like the team that's on offense, I fudge the ball forward so there's no doubt it's a first down. If I don't like the team, I move it back so it's close but no cigar. If it's good enough for the pros, it's good enough for me. 🤪
  22. Hey Paul. There is no right or wrong way to play your games. Personally, I've always played using a set number of plays per quarter. I started out using 12 plays, then went to 15 and finally settled on 20. I found this the ideal number for me as I also like to keep stats and 20 plays per quarter gave me the optimum results I was looking for. (My plays don't include kick offs. Those are separate) I can usually play 1 quarter a night (1 game during a work week) and 1 full game on a weekend. I use this sheet. Kick offs are kept on the right. As an example, if I was playing a game between the Rams and Raiders, I would use RM to designate Rams and RA or RD for Raiders. In this case, say the Rams kicked to the Raiders and #33 returned the ball 27 yards to the 28 yard line. KT is the team the ball is kicked to, so I would put a RD in the first box. NO is the number of the player who returned the ball, so you would put 33 there. YDS is yards, so 27 goes there. YDL is yard line, so that would be 28 and TER is territory, so that would be a RD for Raiders. If there was a penalty on that play, I put a note underneath with PEN for penalty and either + or - and the amount of yards. If the team scored a touchdown, then I put a TD6 or TD7 or TD8 in the YDL box (Depending on if the extra point was good or not or if the team went for the 2 point conversion). Now let's say that #30 ran for 8 yards on the first play and was tackled by #85 of the Rams. You would put a 2 in the DO (Down) box as it is now 2nd down. YTG is yards to go, so a 2 goes there as it is second and two. #30 goes in the NO box as he is the person who ran with the ball. 8 in the YDS box because he got 8 yards. 85 in the TAC (tackle) box because he made the tackle. If nobody made the tackle then I put a - there. If 2 players made the tackle, I squeeze both numbers there. 36 is the YDL (Yard line) RD as it is still in Raider territory and R for a run play. For a pass completion, do the same only use the NO as the receivers number and I put the quarterbacks number in the P/R box. If both tams have the same QB#, I put the teams initials under the box to make it easier to tell which QB is which. If the pass is incomplete, I put INC in the YDS box and give the tackle credit to the defender closest to the receiver. I know they don't usually get credit for a tackle, but I give it to them anyways. For interceptions, I put the number of the defender who intercepted the ball in the NO box and INT in the TAC box. If the team scores a touchdown on the play, I put TD6, TD7 or TD8 in the TAC box and G in the YDL box and a - in the YTG box. Field goals are the same, except a FG3 goes in the YDL box. For a Safety, I put SAF2 in the YDL box and give credit to the tackler. On an interception that was returned for a TD, I put TD6, & or 8 in the YDL box. For all scores, I highlite the score. On change of possessions, I make a nice, thick border between plays so I know there was a change of possession. For a Penalty, I put PEN in the tackle box and whatever the penalty yards are in the yds box. On fumbles, I put FUM under the tackler's number and make a side note if someone returned the fumble . It's not a perfect system, but It's what I have been using for many years. After the games, I use a blank sheet and tabulate the yards for each player and tackles. completions and incompletes etc.I don't use time outs, but you could easily add a T/O somewhere if you wanted to. Hope this helps.
  23. They should have called them the Washington Team of Football. That way, we can simply say WTF????????
