  1. So, I've had people tell me I make good lines. My secret is in the brush, and I let a slow and steady hand win the race. Tough teams for stripes - Chicago Bears Pittsburgh Steelers Buffalo Bills
  2. The product lines have seen a lot of changes in the past few years. What needs a comeback? Do we need another return of 67 Big Men? What about a return of Electric Baseball? How about the brown foam rubber footballs that were hot in the 80's? Let's hear it!
  3. Bringing this back. Good stuff to share -
  4. I think the off-field items need to be related to games on the field. I'm working on a setup that rewards coaches the more that they play. So here's the basic premise - You start with a squad of 22. 8 players for Offensive and defensive linemen start on a green TTC base. 4 skill players get a TTC base as well. The remaining 10 on the team get "Rookie bases". Exhibition Mode - No season, this is a single game A total of 11 players from offense and defense get upgraded bases. These are probably Pro Lines. After the game, the bases are removed. Season Mode - Plan on playing multiple games and playoffs. 3 types of bases: Level 1 (Bronze), Level 2 (Silver), and Level 3 (Gold) Level one bases are the Pro Line version that is tweaked, but nothing is added. Level two bases are tweaked for speed and get bumped up to 2.5 grams. Level two strength bases get bumped up to 3 grams. Level three speed bases are tweaked for speed and get bumped up to 3.5 grams. Level three strength bases are tweaked to move and get bumped up to 4 grams. Players start the season with 10 credits. The price to upgrade 1 base to level 1 is one credit. The price for Level 2 is two credits, and so on. Once these levels are assigned, they will stay with the players for the season. Players get extra credits by playing games. A coach can earn up to three credits per game. If you win the game, you get 2 credits. If you lose the game, you get 1 credit. Each coach can earn an additional "bonus credit" from the official for a long touchdown, a 3rd down stop, of any other big play. Coaches who make the playoffs get an additional 3 credits. The coach who wins the league championship earns an additional 5 credits. The coach who loses the big game gets an additional 3. Besides using credits to upgrade bases, you can also upgrade your quarterback, kicker, or punter. A quarterback could be upgraded to reduce the distance on passing sticks. A short pass attempt would only need to be placed 3 yards in front of the receiver instead of the typical 6, for example. A kicker or punter could gain strength or accuracy (determined by dice rolls) using credits. The total balance of credits accumulated during a season would be tracked. Each team would have a chance of having an off-the-field incident during the week which would cost a team credits. Ideas? If you've played Retro Bowl, this sounds similar.
  5. Here's some food for thought - I had a few set of Uni-Forms sent to me in Kuwait. The figures and decals held up to the trip quite well.
  6. Yep, I'm ordering a set. Those came out very nice.
  7. Carl, that's a great answer. It's been a twenty-plus year road of discovery for me. I used to play competitive Madden way back as well, and compared to that, Electric Football is still the better experience, whether in a league with others or solitaire. I had forgotten about the "Ultimate" rosters in Madden that you have to pay $$$ for now, so thanks for the reminder.
  8. Of course, the most obvious one is someone's home. However, in light of the pandemic, is this still a viable option? What about public spaces? First off, hats off to those who play in a bar. You have some guts. I would say the most Electric Football friendly public place we have used was Buffalo Wild Wings. They were quite accommodating, and we always remembered to tip well. Share your thoughts, I'm needing some ideas!
  9. I've been watching some videos from a few bold YouTubers who are showing their Solitaire games. Great work! So if you're looking to post some videos, here's some ideas for do's and don'ts: Don't: DON'T Put down the products or the company. It's just bad optics. DON'T Show yourself setting up the players - If your 20-minute video contains 15 minutes of you doing player setup, people will turn it off. Same for pre-snap adjustments. DON'T Talk about things not related to the action on the field. DON'T Use "multi-stop" it gets really tough to follow the action. Just let the board run and the play resolve itself. DON'T Use a lot of "uh's" or run plays in silence. Music and commentary are welcome additions. Do: DO include the family. If your games involve family members, then include them! DO Put your players on bases! That's why the game is called "Electric Football". DO Talk about your enjoyment of the game. Discuss your ideas for play selection, because this will help other coaches with ideas. DO Show lots of game action. That's why we wanted to see the video. DO Get as close as possible to the game action. The figures are small, make sure your audience knows who is on the field, so we can root for our favorite team. DO Have fun! Nice to haves - 1. Video editing: Clean up the videos to remove the rough spots. I think I'd also like to use my narration as a separate track for the video. There have been times where something unexpected happens during a video, and I'm scrambling to explain what happens. Also, it will help me cut down on the "uh's". I also like the videos where the scores and clock are "fonted" on the screen. That's a nice touch. 2. Show the pass in flight - I like the XEF rendering a ball in flight for a pass. I think I may try the same with a laser pointer. 3. I'd like to find a way to show the Tudor App in the game experience. Hmm.. writing that down... So that's my $1 worth on what I've been seeing. Thoughts?
  10. Here's an idea I want to try - You have these great Hog Leg teams with the painted helmet logos. Has anyone tried applying the helmet decals from Uni-Forms to a classic team to see the results? I'm thinking about using the throwback Bengals set on an old set of Bengals I have from the 70's. Putting it back together!
  11. Tudor was rolling with the alternate uniforms for Uni-Forms! How about releasing one new Uni-Form per month? You know, to keep us tuned in. Although I'm kind of at a loss to think of some other clever Uni-Forms ideas. Best I have is the Panthers with the "Tarheel Blue" Jerseys, or the Jaguars uni from the 90's. Tudor's take on the Jaguars' "two-tone" helmet look might also be fun.
  12. Watch out on this. Some of those beads are HUGE. If it's for Solitaire play, then that should be all good, but if it's for league play a larger ball makes for an easier target to touch for both sides. I started sticking the Saturn ball on a magnet with a leftover plastic goalpost piece sticking out the top as a handle.
  13. Here's a seldom-mentioned topic - You've got your fellow coaches and getting through some games. Someone asks you to officiate the game between two other coaches. You agree, and then magic happens! What are some of the best Electric Football Official stories out there?
  14. Way back in the day, I loved Madden. Had it for the PC, Genesis, SNES, Playstations 1 and 2, Xbox, and the 360. Then I started noticing that the variety of added features started declining. Then I noticed that even after all these years, offenses and defenses were based more on forcing completed animations than actual logic in the gameplay. I am convinced this is what brought me back to Electric Football in 2000, because I could decide the level of realism in the game, and my skill in the game was just that, my skill. Who still plays Madden, and does it differ from your Electric Football experience?
  15. You've come to the right place! So, the first thing is, pick your teams for your league. If you want some great deals, start here for figures - https://tudorgames.com/customs/customize-figures/pre-painted-figures.html For bases, start here - https://tudorgames.com/bases/rookie-bases.html For a field, go here- https://tudorgames.com/ultimate-electric-football-black.html For a good set of starter rules, check here - https://www.tudorgames.com/downloads/Tudor_Games_Electric_Football_9000_Series_Assembly_Rules_FINAL-M.pdf Have fun! 16. So, I'm having fun on the Retro Bowl app with using NBA teams in a football league. I have also brought back the Seattle Sonics and the Pittsburgh Pipers to make an even 32 teams. The team rosters are made up of past and present NBA players. I think this sounds like a killer Solitaire league. Thoughts?
  17. Take a look, there's a new Giants away and home, vintage Eagles away, and the Oilers now have home and away!
  18. Check out Citadel Paints' "Lothern Blue" and add a dab of white.
  19. Now, let's get snazzy!
  20. Yes, and Amazon Prime may have it as well.
  21. Hoolllddd it! If you're playing the AFL Bills, that #34 had better be Cookie Gilchrist! And while OJ was in Buffalo for the pre-merger, he wore #36 his rookie year. Because I'm sure what you meant to say was, "Lookie Lookie, here comes Cookie!"
  22. The art of loopers! OK, think of the 4 sets of prongs under a base like ailerons and flaps on an aircraft, or think about a paper airplane. If I want a base to loop to the left, I have to shave slightly or bend slightly the front left prongs as compared to the front right prongs. If I want a base to loop right, then I need to bend the front right prong a little more than the front left. Front prongs are for steering and stability, and rear prongs are for strength and balance, because it is typically taking the majority of weight of the figure.
