  1. Exactly. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Perhaps the plastic is getting more rigid with age, or the plastic was more rigid to begin with, I don't know. πŸ€” But I know I'm not alone in my admiration for these bases. 😍 Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  2. I believe there is a natural assumption that the base should be green because grass is green. 🟩 Yet, Tudor frequently called the bases: cleats. πŸ‘Ÿ Cleats make the base part of the player β€” specifically the shoe β€” which makes sense since the base, like the player's foot, is doing the work. Perhaps if I called the color: 🀠 Texas Longhorn burnt orange, then the color would look perfectly natural? πŸ€” Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  3. This is excellent advice. I don't think a formation is a substitute for base strength and speed. Maybe it's possible. In my league I kept drafting Wide Receivers until I found WRs that are absolute beasts. Strong as a gorilla and fast as a cheetah. A cheerilla. I posted a longer version of this video when you asked about TEs. My answer is the same for WRs. Note the receiver has arms sticking way out and the defender simply can't 'grab hold' because the receiver has run past. The Perfect WR.mp4 Draft, draft, draft. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  4. Have you tried a Wide Receiver Screen? Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  5. I have an old Jaguars team (teal pants & black helmets) I'm thinking of calling the Baja Blast to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Pepsi/Taco Bell releasing the Mountain Dew spinoff, Baja Blast. I'll give them red numbers. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  6. I wore the same Chief's jersey under my pads in high school. I graduated in '74. The number on the jersey was 19. "Only two Kansas City Chiefs have worn jersey #19 in the history of the franchise. Cotton Davidson, the original quarterback of the Chiefs' franchise, wore #19 for just over two seasons from 1960 to 1962. The other was Joe Montana, for two seasons from 1993 to 1994." Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  7. The rematch. Last time I was cheering for the upstart Chiefs. This time I'll pull for Christian McCaffrey (200 all-purpose yards please), and the 49ers to beat the Chiefs 34 to 17. The Chiefs will score all their points in the First Half. I'm currently working on a 49ers-esque team for my upcoming draft. Before the sale of Tudor to Bryan, the Tudor company gave away free teams for purchases over $20. I probably won't call the team the 49ers (that name is taken) but the colors will remain the same. Wretched factory paint but sufficient for my draft.I used a gold Sharpie to color the single-clips. The gold will rub off but I'm looking forward to the beauty of the wear patterns. 🎨 Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  8. After decades of playing I'm still of the philosophy that the best way to tweak is to play the bases. The friction of the plastic against the steel does a remarkable job of revealing the true nature of the base and attached player. I would guess that TripleOption67's bases are tweaked to perfection by now. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ I do make sure the prongs are pointing backwards and the prongs usually need a bit of heat to harden the tips, but that's it. I love to watch the players execute a play as I designed the play, and I also love those unexpected tackles and unexpected turns up field for touchdowns. 😍 Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  9. Completely agree Coach Collins. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ I am a bit immersive. πŸ™„ It's not my fault. I love the game! 😍 Our approach is very similar. You start with eight teams and I start my double-elimination tournament with eight teams. I calculate you play 7 games in a season which includes the Haiti Bowl and I play 13 games which includes my Fruit Bowl. I probably should change the name to the Tossed-Salad Bowl because I have a little bit of everything tossed in. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the pictures. Those first and second year Haiti players have remarkable paint. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  10. TripleOption67 let me take a moment and praise your choice of electric football fields. Absolute beauty. It has those rolled-steel double-sided walls that are really solid. Paint looks great. You may have posted this previously and I missed the post; do all your teams ride on the double clips bases? In the fourth picture is your QB #11 blocking for your tailback #28? In electric football I believe QBs should be blocking. With or without the QB blocking the Jets have great offensive line surge. I can understand why the Jets are the top seed. What does the road to the Haiti Bowl look like? Eight teams? Sixteen teams? Which teams? Is it the Haiti Bowl because all of your plastic peeps are Haiti players? I hope that's not too many questions. I'm just trying to get a feel for your endeavor. Thank you. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  11. I'm a sucker for the Jared Goff redemption story... And I know the Lions have never been to a Super Bowl... But I really, really like Christian McCaffrey. His versatility and durability reminds me of Marcus Allen. I can see McCaffrey changing direction at his own 5 yard line and running 95 yards for a touchdown. Or catching a pass and doing the same. So I'm pulling for the NFL 49ers 🀠 in Levi stadium and for your Lions 🦁 in the MRC Memorial Stadium. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  12. Probably turf toe. I noticed he did a face plant. That's gotta hurt. 😡 Is there something in #23's contract that we can use to dock his salary? I noticed other players have fallen down. 🧐 Are you deliberately soaking the field like John Madden allegedly did on the Oakland-Alameda field before big games? I'm wondering, if a player falls over and the fall isn't the result of contact by a defensive player, can the tipsy player get up and run? Are we playing college or NFL rules? Or, if a player falls over and another offensive player is behind him (and let's say within five yards like in the picture), could the tipsy player lateral to his teammate? If the face plant caused a concussion, could the referee call an Injury Time Out and stop the clock? Then the San Diego (as God intended) Chargers could take a time out to avoid the mandatory 10-second runoff. This would give the Chargers 1-second on the clock to attempt a Hail Mary. Inquiring Minds want to know. πŸ₯Έ Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  13. Thank you! 🎨 πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Color plays a huge part in my electric football enjoyment. I see blocks of color working like a Piet Mondrian painting. The game is like performance art! In the end the figures are just little bits of plastic. Our imagination brings them to life. How you use the figures is a function of what makes sense to you and makes the game exciting enough to keep playing. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  14. This makes me sad. I have 21 teams and I can't imagine giving any of them up. I know every player. I know plastic can't love me back, but I do love them. I plan to have my teams cremated with me! I wish there was some way you could keep your teams and could continue to build them. That's interesting. Are you going to buy a few boxes of ITZ bases to see if you like tweaking them? Deciding which plastic formula you like best? If the HITZ bases perform better than your current bases? After three years of working with ITZ bases I'm headed in the opposite direction, that is, I'm contemplating liquidating my ITZ bases. I'll make a decision after I finish my current single-clip draft. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  15. I wish the NFL could find some offense. Scoring makes for a fun game and better highlights. πŸŽ₯ Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  16. I remember when I was 12-years-old I always had a couple hundred dollars to contribute to a league... πŸ€‘ Wait! that was my dad who always had a couple hundred dollars to contribute to a league... πŸ’° Oh no! Wait a minute! I had to buy all my electric football players and bases. My dad had his own hobbies. I mowed a lot of lawns for $20. πŸ’Έ Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  17. I'm 67 and aging backwards so, remarkably, I do have all day to play electric football. πŸ‘Ό I completed my goal and my Shamrock Bay won it all. Before that my Oughtin' Otters won it all. And before that my Sirens of Titan won it all... Come to think of it I won every game I played. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ That's okay. No little plastic catapults for me. 🏈 Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  18. Well said. Completely. 100%. Totally. Agree. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  19. By your rules, my wife called it a touchdown. I agree. What was your wife's call? Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  20. LOL. I loved the picture of BB Boy. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ I never used BBs but I did 'take' a spool of solder from my father's workshop and hammered it flat to put between the base and the player's platform. Shortly after that my friends stopped playing electric football. Adding weight is cheating. Before Christmas, on eBay, someone was selling teams that have pennies glued between the player platform and the base. Pennies are an excellent idea. They're just the right size. Pinewood Derby kits come with lead weights but the lead squares are the wrong size. Putty is the one thing I never tried. I could tell it wasn't nearly heavy enough. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Thank you. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  21. I don't even try to do stripes or helmet logos anymore. Fortunately a superb paint job never made the difference between winning and losing. The Game remains thrilling for me and the draft is looking real promising this year. I just scored more butterscotch bases! Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ PS I think the weight limit is 4 grams.
  22. I found 20 more butterscotch bases on eBay and I've added the bases to my draft choices for the Suncats. πŸŒžπŸ… The butterscotch dials will become part of the Golden Grizzlies' draft. πŸ€©πŸ‘ The funky blue players are reserve players for the Thunderbirds. βš‘πŸ¦… The funky red players will go into storage. Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  23. This is one of those claw-your-your-brains out decision. πŸ€ͺ If the TE is strong and can sustain a block, then the TE is not getting open for a pass. If the TE easily gets open for a pass, then the TE can't sustain a block. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground, that is, a TE that can chip a defender, catch the pass, and then take the pass straight down the field for a Touchdown. I've had the best luck with single-direction bases (Tudor calls them Rookie bases but I don't have a clue who thought of that misnomer) or Standard bases as ITZ calls them. In my mind the perfect TE is so strong that the TE actually turns the defensive player to the outside and then races past the defender and down the hash marks. #98 of the Oughtin' Otters is just such a Tight End. The Perfect TE.mp4 Quick and the Dead Free Safety #29 is one of my best at man-to-man coverage players. Video Description Both player are capable of pushing 22 grams which is 4 times their weight (and that isn't accounting for friction!). I used dice because I figured dice are something every home has and that way coaches can determine the strength of the two players in the video. Oughtin' Otters TE #98 runs very fast and very straight as demonstrated in the 50 yard dash. Head to head Oughtin' Otters TE #98 stops Quick and the Dead Free Safety #29 (the chip) at the Line of Scrimmage. Then TE #98 turns #29 to the outside and away from harassing the QB. Finally, TE #98 races down field to catch a Touchdown Pass. The last clip is the whole sequence in slow motion. I have TTC bases that can do what #98 does in the video but in my experience they are rare. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  24. Daryl, that philosophy really rocks. Rock on! Definitely enjoying the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  25. Okay. I can work with that. Based on my experience the early model 660 was built very solid. I'm not sure it will make the trip across the Atlantic unscathed, but if any field has a chance it is this field. This one is on eBay now. I have two 660 model. Note the game has Super Bowl written on all four sides. Storing flat is probably best, but the beauty of the 620 is you can hang it like a picture on the wall. This is my 620 hanging on my wall. Now the 620 is really tough. Double rolled steel on all four sides. AVOID the model 6072. It is very flimsy and prone to denting and warping.πŸ€”πŸ‘Ž I admire your philosophy but I don't agree. Some of my best bases on my best teams are 60 years old. Here's a video of some old bases I just purchased on eBay. I will spend most of 2024 familiarizing myself with all these bases but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Just remember to email the seller and make sure the bases haven't been tweaked. Also, stay away from the Red Peg TTC bases. 100_3776.mov I tried invisi-bases and I don't like them. None of my teams ride on Invisi-bases. Oh well, each to his own. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
