  1. I'm a sucker for the Jared Goff redemption story... And I know the Lions have never been to a Super Bowl... But I really, really like Christian McCaffrey. His versatility and durability reminds me of Marcus Allen. I can see McCaffrey changing direction at his own 5 yard line and running 95 yards for a touchdown. Or catching a pass and doing the same. So I'm pulling for the NFL 49ers 🀠 in Levi stadium and for your Lions 🦁 in the MRC Memorial Stadium. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  2. Probably turf toe. I noticed he did a face plant. That's gotta hurt. 😡 Is there something in #23's contract that we can use to dock his salary? I noticed other players have fallen down. 🧐 Are you deliberately soaking the field like John Madden allegedly did on the Oakland-Alameda field before big games? I'm wondering, if a player falls over and the fall isn't the result of contact by a defensive player, can the tipsy player get up and run? Are we playing college or NFL rules? Or, if a player falls over and another offensive player is behind him (and let's say within five yards like in the picture), could the tipsy player lateral to his teammate? If the face plant caused a concussion, could the referee call an Injury Time Out and stop the clock? Then the San Diego (as God intended) Chargers could take a time out to avoid the mandatory 10-second runoff. This would give the Chargers 1-second on the clock to attempt a Hail Mary. Inquiring Minds want to know. πŸ₯Έ Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  3. Thank you! 🎨 πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Color plays a huge part in my electric football enjoyment. I see blocks of color working like a Piet Mondrian painting. The game is like performance art! In the end the figures are just little bits of plastic. Our imagination brings them to life. How you use the figures is a function of what makes sense to you and makes the game exciting enough to keep playing. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  4. This makes me sad. I have 21 teams and I can't imagine giving any of them up. I know every player. I know plastic can't love me back, but I do love them. I plan to have my teams cremated with me! I wish there was some way you could keep your teams and could continue to build them. That's interesting. Are you going to buy a few boxes of ITZ bases to see if you like tweaking them? Deciding which plastic formula you like best? If the HITZ bases perform better than your current bases? After three years of working with ITZ bases I'm headed in the opposite direction, that is, I'm contemplating liquidating my ITZ bases. I'll make a decision after I finish my current single-clip draft. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  5. I wish the NFL could find some offense. Scoring makes for a fun game and better highlights. πŸŽ₯ Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  6. I remember when I was 12-years-old I always had a couple hundred dollars to contribute to a league... πŸ€‘ Wait! that was my dad who always had a couple hundred dollars to contribute to a league... πŸ’° Oh no! Wait a minute! I had to buy all my electric football players and bases. My dad had his own hobbies. I mowed a lot of lawns for $20. πŸ’Έ Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  7. I'm 67 and aging backwards so, remarkably, I do have all day to play electric football. πŸ‘Ό I completed my goal and my Shamrock Bay won it all. Before that my Oughtin' Otters won it all. And before that my Sirens of Titan won it all... Come to think of it I won every game I played. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ That's okay. No little plastic catapults for me. 🏈 Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  8. Well said. Completely. 100%. Totally. Agree. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  9. By your rules, my wife called it a touchdown. I agree. What was your wife's call? Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  10. LOL. I loved the picture of BB Boy. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ I never used BBs but I did 'take' a spool of solder from my father's workshop and hammered it flat to put between the base and the player's platform. Shortly after that my friends stopped playing electric football. Adding weight is cheating. Before Christmas, on eBay, someone was selling teams that have pennies glued between the player platform and the base. Pennies are an excellent idea. They're just the right size. Pinewood Derby kits come with lead weights but the lead squares are the wrong size. Putty is the one thing I never tried. I could tell it wasn't nearly heavy enough. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Thank you. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  11. I don't even try to do stripes or helmet logos anymore. Fortunately a superb paint job never made the difference between winning and losing. The Game remains thrilling for me and the draft is looking real promising this year. I just scored more butterscotch bases! Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ PS I think the weight limit is 4 grams.
  12. I found 20 more butterscotch bases on eBay and I've added the bases to my draft choices for the Suncats. πŸŒžπŸ… The butterscotch dials will become part of the Golden Grizzlies' draft. πŸ€©πŸ‘ The funky blue players are reserve players for the Thunderbirds. βš‘πŸ¦… The funky red players will go into storage. Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  13. This is one of those claw-your-your-brains out decision. πŸ€ͺ If the TE is strong and can sustain a block, then the TE is not getting open for a pass. If the TE easily gets open for a pass, then the TE can't sustain a block. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground, that is, a TE that can chip a defender, catch the pass, and then take the pass straight down the field for a Touchdown. I've had the best luck with single-direction bases (Tudor calls them Rookie bases but I don't have a clue who thought of that misnomer) or Standard bases as ITZ calls them. In my mind the perfect TE is so strong that the TE actually turns the defensive player to the outside and then races past the defender and down the hash marks. #98 of the Oughtin' Otters is just such a Tight End. The Perfect TE.mp4 Quick and the Dead Free Safety #29 is one of my best at man-to-man coverage players. Video Description Both player are capable of pushing 22 grams which is 4 times their weight (and that isn't accounting for friction!). I used dice because I figured dice are something every home has and that way coaches can determine the strength of the two players in the video. Oughtin' Otters TE #98 runs very fast and very straight as demonstrated in the 50 yard dash. Head to head Oughtin' Otters TE #98 stops Quick and the Dead Free Safety #29 (the chip) at the Line of Scrimmage. Then TE #98 turns #29 to the outside and away from harassing the QB. Finally, TE #98 races down field to catch a Touchdown Pass. The last clip is the whole sequence in slow motion. I have TTC bases that can do what #98 does in the video but in my experience they are rare. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  14. Daryl, that philosophy really rocks. Rock on! Definitely enjoying the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  15. Okay. I can work with that. Based on my experience the early model 660 was built very solid. I'm not sure it will make the trip across the Atlantic unscathed, but if any field has a chance it is this field. This one is on eBay now. I have two 660 model. Note the game has Super Bowl written on all four sides. Storing flat is probably best, but the beauty of the 620 is you can hang it like a picture on the wall. This is my 620 hanging on my wall. Now the 620 is really tough. Double rolled steel on all four sides. AVOID the model 6072. It is very flimsy and prone to denting and warping.πŸ€”πŸ‘Ž I admire your philosophy but I don't agree. Some of my best bases on my best teams are 60 years old. Here's a video of some old bases I just purchased on eBay. I will spend most of 2024 familiarizing myself with all these bases but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Just remember to email the seller and make sure the bases haven't been tweaked. Also, stay away from the Red Peg TTC bases. 100_3776.mov I tried invisi-bases and I don't like them. None of my teams ride on Invisi-bases. Oh well, each to his own. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  16. I play a half one day and the second half the next day. This gives me time to think about strategy while I'm playing and adjustments between halves. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  17. Hi Oscar. I have a Barcelona Dragons football jersey. One of my NFL Europa favorites. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Sorry NFL Europa went out of business.πŸ˜ͺ I live in Cody, Wyoming 🀠 and I've been playing electric football since 1965. I'm not sure any of my opinions will be helpful but here goes. πŸ€”How much space do you have? I converted a third bathroom into my football room. I have a Tudor Ultimate electric football field and in my opinion the wider field is better for executing sweeps. Regardless of the size you decide on, invest in two motion generators. πŸ€”Will you play solitaire or in a league? If you play solitaire then eBay is great. Lots of older bases that are inexpensive. Just make sure the bases you're buying haven't been tweaked. Don't buy someone else's mistakes. If you play in a league then you need to become proficient at tweaking ITZ and Tudor Proline bases. This will cost you hundreds of dollars. πŸ€‘ That's just part of the hobby. When ITZ first released their CL-2 bases I spent over $500. just so I could get to know the CL-2 bases. πŸ€”What's a bad experience? I've been playing for 40 years and I have 21 teams and I haven't had an experience so bad I just up and quit. In my experience there aren't any bad experiences, just learning experiences. Electric football is not "Plug and Play." The learning curve can be steep because you literally have to learn how every single base performs. Then you have to invent a system to help you remember. Many coaches write on the bases to help them remember how the base performs. I'm one of them. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  18. Are there any pictures or videos of Norman Sas actually playing an entire game of electric football? Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  19. Levi, I agree fantasy teams are a lot of fun. (All of my teams are fantasy teams.) This is also a time for all of the coaches to reevaluate your league values. A fantasy league can be more than fantasy names and fantasy helmets. There can be fantasy rules that promote the best parts of the electric football game. Putting cash in the EFL kitty is a value that your new league plans to keep. Of course this is like the NFL and that is a reasonable value. The NFL is an obvious value model and one of the over-arching values seems to be protecting the QB. Protecting the QB investment has become the be-all and end-all value for the NFL. Bryan Nutt's value model is contained in Tudor Advanced Play ( TAP ) . Bryan writes: "To keep it simple in β€œTAP”, the center will always line up in the center of the field between the hash marks... the offensive coach must fully lineup his team in less than 40 seconds... All plays are read-option plays! No need to call run or pass before the play." Keeping the game of electric football simple is Bryan's over-arching value. Korin "Kit" Kinchen Commissioner of TOEPRO Football, believes that anything that can be done in NFL football can be duplicated in electric football. I believe what Kit means is we coaches can pretend anything possible in the NFL is possible in electric football. We pretend the center snaps the ball and we pretend a touch is as good as a tackles. These are trick of the values we've adopted because we really love the electric football game. The values I've established to improve my enjoyment of electric football are: VALUE STATEMENT Duplicating the basic elements of the real game of football is a value of the HEAVY METAL ELECTRIC FOOTBALL CONSORTIUM (HMEFC). Basic elements are: Kickoffs, punts, and field goals; 10 yards for a first down and four downs to a make 10 yards; 11 players on offense and 11 players on defense; Passing and rushing; Six eligible receivers; Two tightends, two tackles, two guards, and a center constitute the offensive line. Many important aspects of the real game of football cannot be duplicated on a vibrating football field. Aspects such as: snap motion tackling fumbling kicking catching a pass audibles Penalties injuries Because of these important limitations, duplicating the NFL, or NCAA, or CFL is not a realistic value of the HMEFC. My values (which are in my biography on this Forum) also include Stop-Forward-Progress Tackling, over 5-gram weight minimum, and stacking two-deep on offense and defense. One of my peculiar values is that the 'Fab Five,' are really the 'Sensational Six.' All of my teams have the original Tudor QB at quarterback. Also, I love the 'Pick-Six' so I have a passing scheme that favors pick-sixes. As your new league advances you will write rules and establish procedures. I believe it is important to note which values are driving the rules and procedures. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  20. I think the stadium looks cool πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ but... I walk around (and around and around and around, etc.) my field and grandstands just get in the way. So cool idea, but probably not on my wishlist. Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  21. Welcome back Greg F. Your daughter is adorable. Can't same the same for the Auburn Tiger. 😜 πŸ… Thank you. 🀩 That's exactly how I play in my solitaire league. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ My thoughts exactly. I don't spend time on bumpers anymore. After lots of experimentation I just don't think they make a difference. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  22. "Bo vs. the Boz" (Raiders vs. Seahawks, 1987) Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  23. Seems that Gerald Riggs wouldn't be accumulating any yards without a potent offensive line. What are Johnny-Freeport's blocking schemes? Enjoy the Journey. T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  24. I wrote this in an earlier post. If you've already read it please forgive the double posting. πŸ˜ƒ I completely agree. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ I'd start with page 23 of the Unforgettable Buzz and work my way forward in time (Norman Sas and the Model 500 for innovation). Maybe Eddie Gluck and the G-1500 (for innovation) would be my second nomination (Chapter 12). Lee Payne gets my third nomination (page 241) and then Albert Sung (page 245 bottom of the page) for painting. Then, I would go to the Tweak and Plugged In and do a bit of name counting. Someone whose name appears 100 times has a better chance than someone whose name appears 20 times, etc. Then I would count How-to videos posted on Youtube. Posting video of a game wouldn't count unless it illustrated a point. Just my two-cents. Enjoy the Journey T43. βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
  25. Wow! Great paint! πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ Nice thin lines on the helmets and pants. Do all your players ride on the Rookie double clips? How many teams do you have? βœ¨πŸŽ‰You have the Orange Bowl and Liberty Bowl field covers. 🎊✨ Do you have magnetic field covers for all the Bowl Games? Enjoy the Journey T43 βš‘πŸˆβ™ΎοΈ
