I think I'll avoid playing against you in any potential tournaments on account that your strategy would leave me wondering where the ball carrier came from and where he's going, 🤯

I wish I had found this hobby sooner, as it reminds me a little bit of chess/checkers (with a slight twist, LOL).

Thanks for the probably undeserved complement.

I say that as I am 61 and definitely not as alert as I once was but my rival in the TVEFL is a young 30 years old and is very sharp.  I constantly have to innovate my game plans to stay ahead.

The switch problem is a very common issue and easy to fix by just replacing the switch. Same thing happened to me when I was 13 or 14 years old. I won't go into specifics, but I learned a very valuable lesson about dealing with things electric that made me realize I probably should not choose electrician as my career goal.

I have learned now in dealing with vintage electric football games that the most common issue with the switches is that the "W" connector inside the switch simply wears out and gets broken, the wires get broken loose from the connection that they are soldered to, or the inside of the switch just needs a good cleaning.  Sometimes it is just that the wiring that attaches the cord to the motor gets broken.

Of course, now it is much easier to just get a Tudor Games Field motion Generator or aftermarket vibration generator or even a whole new electro-magnetic motor with the electrical cord and switch already attached. AND you can also just take the motor off an old beat-up game and replace the motor on a better condition vintage game.

Right now, I have 40-50 vintage game boards that I am working on in various stages of condition issues and repair issues that need to be corrected as well as ones that simply need the graphics restored or redone completely.

That's Awesome Coach. We should all have someone (or someone's) who help keep us sharp and accountable. 💪🤝

Loved your story.  This is a great hobby, welcome.

As a young kid my switch stopped working for my field.   I was devastated.
But one day I was in the store with my mom and noticed that they sold switches.  It had never occurred to me before that I could repair my EF field.

I talked mom into buying the switch and by myself wired it into the EF cord.   Pugged it in, flipped the switch and it worked!!  (Cue the Hallelujah Chorus!).
I was back in business!

I had the same problem with switches, but my dad took the switch apart and found that one of the leads had disconnected in the switch.  He showed me how to use a soldering iron and we fixed it.  After that I ended up soldering the leads a number of times.  Guess I was pretty hard on the switches, but it was a pretty easy fix.  🙂
