  1. Very interesting video. American Football could probably work as a Subbuteo game. But the most interesting thing about electric football is that the players move independently of each other and if you play a multi-stop style of gameplay, you are making adjustments every 2-3 seconds anyway. Which also eliminated the need for directional tweaking. I still think Rugby could work as an electric football game and the more I think about it, with a multi-stop style of gameplay, it definitely could work.
  2. Great posts, guys!! Really enjoyed reading them. Interesting to hear how and what people in other areas of the country and around the world are doing to deal with this situation that just seems to not want to go away. My wife and I have been pretty lucky since we are retired and very rarely even have to go anywhere anymore. We still do but we both have been vaccinated and got boosters and try to follow all the guidelines and obey the mandates. I know that still does not mean we are 100% safe. We have family members who have had and are still getting it. Thankfully no close family member has died from it. My Son-in-Law did get a very serious case of it back in August of last year and was hospitalized for about 4 weeks but thankfully he did survive it. Love what you guys are doing with your electric football game play. I tell people all the time that there is no right or wrong way to play this game. The original creator of the game even encouraged people to change or add to the rules as necessary to make the game more interesting, fun and exciting to play. I have always said solitaire players are the most creative and innovative people in the game and hobby and always come up with the most interesting ways to play since they are only limited by their own imaginations and don't have to follow anybody else's rules but their own. The most important thing is to "just have fun and play the game!!"
  3. LOL. I mostly built display cases for museum exhibits. usually painted MDF. We had a saying "Bondo is our friend". I'm sure it will look good.
  4. Thanks for the posting. I m a retired woodworker and cabinet builder, so I enjoyed reading this. Yes, we need pictures!!!
  5. Thanks for posting. Eventually, I will probably get one to place in the museum. OR WOULD BE REALLY NICE.... (hint, hint) if someone would donate one to the Museum. 😁😁😁 Just kidding Seriously, though. Glad to see this review. I don't think I have heard anything negative about them and I see they are being used by a lot of very well-respected people in the game and hobby.
  6. Seems to me that in real football, defensive players are more concerned with trying to strip the ball from a ball carrier to create a fumble rather than actually tackling someone. Too often you will see a ball carrier gain another 5 yards or more or break a tackle simple because of the effort to punch the ball out rather than actually make a tackle.
  7. I like your style of play. On tackles I do require the forward progress of the ball carrier to be stopped to be considered down.
  8. All the Proline bases are good. I have used them all. Performance depends on your tweaking skills and what you want to get from them. I do very little tweaking. Just flashing and trying to get them to run straight.
  9. Cool that you have a Tennessee team, the Knoxville Pioneers. That will have to be the team, I follow!!!
  10. Probably a question you need to ask on the Facebook Group pages. There are several people producing and selling 3d-printed figures and accessories. Whether they would be willing to share those files or not is another question?
  11. I quess among the many other things I collect is sports movies especially football. I have all these on DVD. Friday Night Lights, Rudy, We are Marshall, Invincible, The Express, Leatherheads, Several NFL Films productions. The Slapshot DVD that I have has commentary with the Hanson Brothers voiced over it. Kind of annoying but still good to watch.
  12. It's on YouTube to Buy Rent and seems like I have seen it available on tubi. A public library that has movies to loan out is another option. I have it on DVD and have watched it many times, one of my favorites.
  13. Leatherheads is a great movie about the beginnings of Professional Football and a time when College football was more popular. I enjoy it mostly for the nostalgia of the old uniforms.
  14. Those of you who know me best, have probably heard me say this many times. Yesterday in a FB post, I found the following statement: "... decided to get back to the roots of EF by just playing and having fun!!!" So often in our quest to add more realism to the game, we take away the fun of playing the game just for the fun of it. So, I will say it once again ... "Just have fun and play the game!!"
  15. Thanks!!! Would be very much appreciated.
  16. Very interesting. Look forward to more and following progress.
  17. Fantastic!! Looking forward to following the progress.
  18. Like where you are heading with it. My original setup with the hand painted gameboard had foam board "sideboards" and foam board back drops behind the nets. It was made around 2000-2001 so with all the league and team logos from that time period. Really kind of "cheesy" looking. though. Actually, got to play a game against Jimbo Dunagan using an earlier version of his rules at a Miggle Convention. It was awesome!! Check out this Facebook page if you haven't before: Electric Arena Football | Facebook
  19. Never really thought about it or even noticed a difference. I would think a lighter ball would be better, such as the older foam rubber balls. Once upon a time I had an Arena League set up. I used plastic netting canvas for the nets. Wish I had pics but has been at least 20 years ago. Below is a pic of my Nashville Kats Arena Collection. Team and Cheerleader posters with some autographs, A wooden Kats plague that actually came out of their practice facilty, a hand painted arena gameboard (one with the red border, a Snickers "Shock Zone" game board with a Kats field cover, a Kats Mini Helmet, and 3 Custom hand-painted Kats electric football teams. In case you are looking for some rules, here are some excellent Arena Football Rules: Miniature ARENA Football Rules_v3.0.pdf
  20. According to Wikipedia - Quick kicks are relatively rare in American football, but they have never completely disappeared. Notable quick kicks in college football include one performed by Tate Forcier of the University of Michigan against the University of Notre Dame on September 12, 2009,[1] and a 54-yard punt by Kellen Moore of Boise State University against Louisiana Tech on October 26, 2010.[2] In the NFL, quarterback Randall Cunningham made 20 quick kicks during his career.[3] Ben Roethlisberger has five quick kicks for a career net average of 24.2 yards per kick, two of which went for touchbacks.[4] New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady performed a quick kick punt on a third and ten against the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs, on January 14, 2012.[5] Quick kicks were a much more frequent occurrence in the original XFL during its lone season in 2001. This was because the XFL permitted kicking teams to recover and advance their own punts provided they travelled a minimum of 25 yards. XFL teams usually attempted quick kicks in third and long situations. The rule is there for my solitaire play since I mainly follow the NFL rules but can't say that I have ever used it. Still nice to have the option though.
