  1. 20 teams. 6 divisions. I'm halfway through the season. I'm really loving the 3 game season. Every single game has a playoff feel to it; a sense of urgency.
  2. Funny you should mention unexpected turns up field Coach Terry. Late in the third quarter of last night's Raiders at Rams game with the Raiders trailing 7-6, Arthur Wittington caught a pass from Jim Plunkett. Wittington was at an 85 degree angle heading out of bounce with probably 2 inches to go. So I'm thinking, okay good gain he'll go out at about the 17 yard line. Oh contraire; Mr. Wittington decides to turn up field and tip-toe up the sideline for what turned out to be the winning touchdown! Major credit to the Raider D for stopping the Rams 13 yards short of scoring the tying TD on the last play of the game. Lester Hayes intercepts the last-ditch pass in the endzone to end the game. Raiders 14 Rams 7.
  3. I love hearing all the different rules and perspectives of other coaches. Such creativity! My injuries and penalties are very limited. For injuries, pretty much only the QB can sustain an injury in my solitaire league. When my QB takes the snap, and fades back, I take his base off at the point where I want him to set up and survey the field. Being without a base may make the player bounce around depending on his proximity to the motor. Should he fall over, he is injured and out for the rest of the game. This happens very rarely. And even more rarely, if a ball carrier takes a particularly big hit and falls down, he will be considered injured, and I make a determination of how long he will be out for. As for penalties, an Onside kick penalty occurs when the kick doesn't go at least 10 yards. And finally, the home team can issue one 5 yard penalty per game at the time of their choosing. Either a false start on the opposing offense, or an offsides on the opposing defense. It needs to be called before the play is run. This penalty is to simulate crowd noise and give the home team a small advantage. I may have forgotten something, but I think that's it.
  4. All hands-on deck league meeting. Something big must be going down. 😄
  5. That's a very well executed play! The O-line did a great job of protection too! It's one of those plays where so many things have to go right in order for it to be successful.
  6. I usually set up my TE on or close to the O line as an extra blocker, and at times adjust his base to curl in order to provide a quick outlet receiver should the QB be under pressure. Another thing I'll do is stack receivers so that the front receiver will take on the DB and leave the back receiver to potentially run free; with potentially being the operative word. 🙄 The problem with that is some defenses instead of stacking DBs to counter that measure will shift one DB to rush the QB, in other words, blitz. It's a chess game to be sure.
  7. Thanks so much for sharing your incredible collection! And your ultimate board is rockin!
  8. By my rules the QB is sacked. I changed my rules a few seasons ago where if the bases are touching side to side the ball carrier is not tackled. (Thanks to the coach on this forum that suggested that!) But any other contact and the offensive player is considered tackled.
  9. He proposed the trade when my Earl Campbell ran all over his mighty Raiders in an inter-league game. 😁
  10. My rosters start at or around 1978. I'll snag a player here and there a few years after and even one or two from before 1978. That's when I got my 660 Super Bowl board with the Steelers and Cowboys and additionally the AFC Central and the NFC West teams. I was 13. Season 1 would have had 9 teams but then my buddy offered the Eagles, Giants, Redskins, and Colts for my Oilers. Yes, he liked the Oilers that much! So, Season 1 had 12 teams.
  11. Thanks, Curt! Merry Christmas to all my EF brothers!
  12. Late HK. The team uniforms look like the early to mid-eighties. Examples: The Redskins and Chargers have white pants not yellow, The Giants helmets are the design where "Giants" is written out. Broncos have the orange jerseys. Browns have white pants not orange.
  13. Another 18 Hong Kongs. Giants W and D, Broncos W and D, Rams W and D, Chiefs W and D, Redskins W, Jets D, Raiders D, Lions D, 49ers D, Pats D, Browns W, Chargers D, Lions D, Bears D.
  14. I just bought 18 teams, sealed packages (Hong Kong from the 80's) on Ebay.
  15. Agreed. He's straight and fast. Love to know what his 40 yard dash time was at the combine. 😄 I noticed the Otters sport a Keystone symbol. Is their home field in Pennsylvania?
  16. What a great game! Both offenses executed to perfection. I think the Knight's uniforms may be the coolest uniforms I've ever seen. Of course, I'd need to look at the rest of your teams to be sure.
  17. <Someday maybe I'll do another version, probably brown jerseys and beige pants.> Throwback uniforms! 😄 Well done! Fine work!
  18. Digging the all-gray uniforms. Alt helmet logo not so much.
  19. I'm with Coach Shawn. I like sacks and pressure because they can be such game changers.
  20. Quite honestly Greg it sounds like your blessed with having such good bases for your players. It's a great problem to have. I love when they run straight!
