I believe this calls into question the expertise of Beenutt and his painters. In a very short time a feckless acrylic paint will rub off the plastic.

I agree! I don't always prime the teams and figures that I paint, but I do clear coat with either gloss or matte Krylon or Rustoleum spray paint to seal the acrylic craft paint that I paint them with. I only know two of the painters that Tudor has contracted with to paint the custom teams and personally I think they will always do a very good quality job. The main concern that I have always had with having different people the painting is keeping it consistent. Every painter of custom electric football teams has their own unique style and way of doing them. I think that another option with ordering the custom painted teams should be the option of choosing who you want to paint them. I have had a couple of people to offer painting custom teams for the NEFGM to resale on consignment. but so far after seeing pics of their painting, I was not very satisfied with them being able to provide the quality that I would expect and demand. Ultimately, in my opinion, customer satisfaction and responsibility for providing quality customer service lies with the facilitator of that service.

  2. Good Question?? You have to meet Reggie in person to understand a lot about Reggie, his love and passion for the game and hobby, and his motivation for creating his line of footballfigure.net. electric football products. I met Reggie at the 1999 Miggle convention and tournament in Philadelphia, PA. There is a really interesting story behind all that that I don't know all the details of or remember enough to recount accurately. What I do remember though is it leading to a very strained relationship between Reggie and the owners of Miggle Toys that as far as I know was never mended or reconciled. Very rarely saw Reggie at any more Miggle sponsored events. I did see him occasionally at several of the other electric football tournaments and conventions sponsored by the MFCA, the TOC and other league and tournament events and had an opportunity to talk at length with him about a lot of things regarding electric football. There is no doubt that Reggie is a very creative and innovative person and a legend in the game and hobby and has a well-deserved place in the MFCA's Electric Football Hall of Fame and if I ever create an NEFGM Hall of Fame, he most very likely will be one of the first persons inducted. But that is a long way off and something I am very reluctant to do because of all the controversy and hurt feelings that it can cause and just something I REALLY HAVE NO DESIRE TO DEAL WITH at the present. My main focus right now is to get a physical "Brick and Mortar" location built for the museum and yes!!... an eventual NEFGM Hall of Fame.

You ordered and paid for fab 5 custom painted teams and got ones that just had skin tones and platforms painted?

I do not know who paints the underside of the platforms. Just top and sides, as thin as they are.

Not sure what the issue is?

The Haiti Repro figures with pre-painted platforms and skin tones (SKU HT-11-PP) have the underside of the base painted. This is done at the factory. To a collector it makes a big difference. This is the identifying mark to accurately distinguish them from the regular Haiti Repros. Original Haiti Repros were not sold by Tudor Games. They were sold by Buzzball some time in the.late 2000's. Buzzball was also the first to offer figures with pre-painted skin tones. More than likely Tudor Games in the late 2010's was getting their Haiti Repros from the same factory in China that Buzzball had gotten theirs.

  4. I am sure that it was a licensing and branding issue just like it is today for any movie tie-in merchandising. I do know of or have heard of several people who have painted and created teams from these movies.  I have thought about doing it myself. Of the three "The Longest Yard" is my favorite. Mean Machine vs. the Guards. very simple uniforms too. I used to work with a guy at a "Sports Authority" store in the Nashville, TN area, who also played Arena Football for the Nashville Kats. who went to Miami to play for the Miami Sharks in the "Any Given Sunday" Movie. I have posters of the Kats "Kitten" cheerleaders signed by a couple of them and a Kats team poster signed by a couple of the players when they made appearances at the Grand Opening of the Store in the Fall of 1999.

  5. First of all, I would suggest leaving a review on the Tudor Games website. There is an area for reviews, on the Custom Painted Team page at the bottom on the page.  Custom Painted NFL Team (tudorgames.com)

Second, I don't know how you are trying to contact them, but I would suggest calling their customer service phone no. directly: (800) 914-8836.

Thirdly yes, I can understand how what they are showing and what you actually got could be construed as misleading, however nowhere in the description does it say that the figures used will be the pre-painted platform and skin tone figures. I did just check the status of those figures and they are currently out-of-stock.

I really don't think that Tudor Games was adequately prepared for the overwhelming demand of these custom painted teams that by offering this service was going to generate. I personally have not ordered any because I paint my own teams.

Obviously 100% complete customer satisfaction is paramount to the success or failure of any business.

I do paint and sell replica and reproduction "Tudor Classic" teams to help fund the day-to day operations of the NEFGM Website, but I never offer a team for sale that is not already finished and ready to be shipped and very rarely do I take advance orders for them unless the customer is fully aware of what they are going to be getting, then send them pictures of what they are going to be getting before I even send out an invoice for them.

  6. I personally would buy more decals. In my experience, I have found that the Yellow Tudor Stick-On Numbers don't show up well on dark colored jerseys. They are too translucent. Unless maybe it is some of the really older Tudor numbers from the 70's. If they were bought recently, I am fairly certain you will not be satisfied with the results. Even the white numbers from Tudor that were produced in recent years, tend not to show up too well on darker jerseys.

Shawn, don't you have the bottom team? I think it was part of the "Ivy League" teams that you bought from The NEFGM Store a while back.

By the way, the other figures are "Playtime" figures that came with the 1991 Playtime ABC's ELECTONIC Monday Night Football Game painted to represent 1920's NFL Duluth Eskimos, Los Angeles Buccaneers, Dayton Triangles and canton Bulldogs. DSC00673.thumb.JPG.caa748a65e4668a191e31ae010881e08.JPG

  9. Here is an acrylic case Display of the SUPER BOWL LVI Champion Indianapolis Colts all decked out in the Whate jersey uniforms they wore during that game. It is the starting line ups for both the offense and defense. created using MIggle Toys / Tudor Games "Stamped Helmet" original factory paint "Made in China" figures. with Tudor Stick-on numbers. The graphic inside the case was made by Cleveland Browns fan and former Senior Manager, Season Ticketing, Mike Patton.  The case is a 1:18 Die Cast Model Car case. It is approximately 13 1/2" Long x 5" Tall x 6 1/2" Deep.

  10. The Cliff Mitchell Collection is the only collection of a Game Board and original manufacturer teams and figures I have bought for inclusion in the Collections of the Museum. Until now it has been stored away in the "Vault" of the Museum and not on display. For the first time I have gotten it out and included it in the public displays. This is just a sampling of the collection.

  11. Don't know if you guys are aware that the Tudor Proline Figures PLP-1 and PLP-2 were originally ITZ Figures. They were developed by the Klingbiels for Miggle Toys / Tudor Games in 2005 to go along with the whole Concept of Pro Line Bases and the New 620 Model Game Boards introduced in 2005. ITZ's original figures came on a sprue much like the Electric Gridiron (EG) Figures that Tudor continues to sell today. They were also making NFL team decals in the early 2000's, way before even Beenutt was doing it.

The first time I ever became aware of the Klingbiels was when I met Daryl Kimbrell from Killen, AL. He was the first person I had the opportunity to meet and play electric football with, in 1998, right after I had gotten back into the game and hobby, after a near 25-year absence. He had some of those original ITZ custom figures and since I was planning to go to the 1999 MIggle Electric Football Convention and Super Bowl Tournament, in Philadelphia, that next January, he wanted me to get him some more of their figures. That was where I first met Mark and Bill and got to know them.

Besides being the winners of the First Annual Tudor Super Bowl of Electric Football, in 1995, the Klingbeils have probably had the most influence on the game and hobby more than anyone else since Lee Payne began working for Tudor in the early 1960's and improving the technology and developing the new products that Tudor began selling in 1962, with the development of Tudor's Sports Classic Electric Games and then in 1967 with their NFL line of Games, Teams and other products.

Interestingly, what I will be leftover with after this little experiment will be a purple jerseys and black pants combination. I’ll have to check and see if they have such a uniform in their repertoire.

    Journey On!

Yes, they have worn that combination several times. This is my favorite, the original 1996 version.

This is Tudor's factory hand painted Ravens D SKU 3-31-D. Unfortunately, it is out of stock, but I did get a set of both the White and Dark a year or so ago, before the changeover in owners.

  13. Simply Awesome!! And thanks for the inclusion of the NEFGM in this article. It has been great to follow this league and learn more about its members who are so passionate about this great game and hobby.  Having Billy O'C as a member of the Board of Directors has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Even though we have never met face to face we have had many conversations, mostly through email, that have given me great encouragement and a faith in the people of the ELECTRIC FOOTBALL Community that this effort of mine to preserve the game and its history has not been in vain. Thank you so much for your support.

Yeah, I guess it's just one more detail in the aesthetic part of the game. My only concern was that the 67 Big Men might be too much for Haiti repro when they come into contact say when a RB is lead blocking against and end. But it's the base that matters right? The size of the figure shouldn't be a factor correct?

In my opinion, the base is the most important part of an electric football "player" (figure and base combo). The size of the figure can be an overall contributor to the weight of the player, but the base is what gives the player his individual characteristics of speed, strength and directional movement. The pose of the figure may or may not be beneficial to the performance of the player. For example, the RB figures and the wide arm TE/QB figures are notorious for locking arms and creating the "spinning around in circles" reference that has plagued the game for so long and the blocking Guard figure is often limited to just always being a blocker and is often never allowed to be a ball carrier, eligible receiver or even allowed to be lined up in an offensive backfield position. Sorry, but that just ain't real football and one of the many things that should be allowed that is now often banned in the game.

  16. Excellent write up and ending to an awesome season. I have started posting links to some of these posts on my Facebook page and sharing to the Facebook groups that I administrate. Hopefully it will bring you more readership and more people to this forum. Facebook has definitely taken away so much from this valuable source of information regarding this great game and hobby.
