Hope to play the rams and 49ers tomorrow...seems like every time i thought i could play i get sidetracked on something else lately.

Game 6

Rams 16 49ers 10

Typical old nfl/nfc rival game....the 49ers led at the half 10 to 9....but the rams went on to win 16 to 9....the rams were led by willie ellison...les josephson and dick bass...as the rams controlled the ball and kept it on the ground for the most part. Outstanding rams of the past include : 33 Ellison...34 josephson...22 bass....18 roman gabriel...74 merlin olsen...75 deacon jones and 76 rosey grier.....outstanding 49ers include : 18 gene washington ...12 john brodie...42 doug cunningham....70 Charlie kruger and 57 frank nunley.....up next is the big original falcons and a custom set of haiti repro steelers....i was going to use my original hog steelers....but i had a few blank new tudor haiti repro teams so i made a set of these steelers after watching an old 1970 highlight game on youtube....i thought the all w steelers looked cool.....and wanted to make myself a set.

Sounds like this game was a classic 1960s and 70s style game, the style that probably died completely when Joe Gibbs retired for the second time. I miss when teams had to establish a good run game to get to victory; I know passes look nice on TV and typically gain more yards and etc, but a good running back can really shift a game over the long run.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of those Steelers. I really like when teams do Whiteout, Blackout, and Color Rush style uniforms. I don't know why, I guess it reminds me of the early John Madden video games that didn't have the NFL Team license yet and instead had to do "almost" versions of the uniforms for legal reasons, so generally just kept it to a single color. 😆

When i saw them in the old video i thought it would look good as an old tudor team to have them in the all white....all the old original white jersey steeler teams made by tudor from 1967 bigmen ...69 hogs...early 70s chicken and mid to late 70s haiti would have had yellow pants....i just thought they would look good and i painted them in the style of the old tudor teams with just a yellow sleeve stripe and a dot on the helmet...i figured the old tudor would have made them this way.....the modern tudor haiti repro teams are really nice white figures and i think the teams look nice and clean.

Game 7

Steelers 13 falcons 7

The steelers were led by franco harris on offense and jack lambert on defense....the steelers made a few big plays and the falcons had a turn over and a missed fg that helped to determine the outcome....great steelers include : 32 harris...58 lambert.. 82 John stalworth...88 lynn swann...20 rocky blier...75 joe greene...and 59 jack hamm.....great falcons from yesterday include : 60 tommy nobis...86 jim mitchell...87 claude humphrey...71 john zook...25 art malone....and 5 harmon wages.....up next will be the big colts vs the hog lions.....that will conclude the first round games....after 7 games the bigmen have won 4 and the smaller teams have won 3.... so far they are playing even.

Lions 10 colts 3

Not much scoring lately but the lions survive and advance to the 2nd round....the lions charlie sanders had the lone td on a catch and run pass from greg landry.....great lions from the past include : 88 sanders...11 landry...53 mike lucci...36 steve owens...42 altie taylor ...24 mel farr and 71 Alex karras......the colts were represented by : 19 johnny Unitas....24 lenny moore...82 raymond berry....35 alan ameche....70 art donavan...and 89 gino marchetti.....this game completes the 1st round...the big teams won 4 and the small teams won 4 so it is panning out to be a good even tourney.....up next will be the big redskins vs the hog eagles.

Seems like it is pretty even between the Big guys and the Hog legs in terms of the scores so far

Are you finding any major differences in play between the 2 figures. Is one figure better than another in certain situations?

Great looking matchups in the next round. Hoping the Lions don't cause the Packers an upset but hey I never feel totally comfortable when the Packers play the Lions. You never know what you are gonna get with Detroit they can come into a game with a 10 game losing streak and then play the game of their lives 😂

Nice looking Redskins figures, is there a backstory on those? Really nice colours on them 🙂

The games have been pretty even....the big bears totally dominated the line of scrimmage in their 28 to 7 win over the vikings....besides that there have been games where the smaller hog team won the battle up front....but im happy with the way the games have been even...as far as the redskins....they and the all white steelers are the only 2 custom painted teams i own...the other 65 or 70 teams i have are tudor original factory teams from late 60s.....i had did these for a friend of mine about a year ago and he decided to sell his bigmen teams and asked if i was interested in them before he put them on ebay...so i bought them back.....i very seldom keep custom painted teams but i like these redskins ...ill probably keep them until i run across an original set....both of my hog redskin teams are original factory painted ....i have one more set of haiti repros blanks ...ill probably make a set of all white eagles with the plain no shoulder or sleeve stripes out of them.....hog legs are my main collection and i have all in dark and white jerseys....the only original bigmen i dont have in at least one jersey are : redskins...eagles and 49ers...so im keeping an eye out for those 3.

A little tweak to the 2nd round

I was going through my teams and realized that I hadnt used my haiti d rams in quite awhile so i changed a couple matchups... The big redskins will meet the hog eagles next....and the big lions will still play the hog packers... But ill let the big steelers meet the hog browns and the big bears will face off with the rams.....i like to use all my variations of teams as much as i can.

When i was looking through old rosters while numbering my big redskins....i came across #35 joe don looney....i said now there is a football name ....well joe don looney caught the winning pass from sonny jurgenson on the next to last play of the game and washington moves on to the final 4 with a 21 to 17 victory....outstanding washington redskins from the past include : 35 Looney...9 jurgenson...43 larry brown...42 charlie taylor...72 joe rudkins...87 jerry smith...and 55 chris hanburger.....great eagles from yesteryear include : 16 norm sneed....88 gary Pettigrew...76 bob brown...31 wilbert montgomery...44 pete retzlaff... And 60 chuck "concrete charlie" bednarik.....up next will be the great rivalry game between the steelers and the browns.

Browns 33 steelers 31

Seems like every other tournament i finish a game and say to myself ...wow...that was the best game i ever played....this one was a great game.....it went down to the last play and Cleveland's legendary kicker lou groza nailed a 31 yd field goal and the browns move on to the final 4. The game featured 2 great running backs leroy kelly from the browns and franco harris from the steelers..each scored 4 tds in the game..it featured key pass plays from the browns frank ryan and paul warfield and the steelers terry bradshaw to john stalworth to keep drives going ....just a very enjoyable game......great browns from yesterday include: 44 kelly...13 ryan...42 warfield...32 jim brown...86 gary collins...71 walter johnson...77 dick schafrath....89 milt morin...and 76 lou "the toe" groza......great steelers include : 58 jack lambert...63 Ernie Holmes...75 Joe Greene....32 harris...12 bradshaw...82 stalworth ..68 lc greenwood...34 andy russell ....20 rocky blier and 59 jack ham.....up next will be the bigmen bears vs the haiti rams.

Rams trailed 14 to 6 at halftime....but they scored 2 tds in the 2nd half and shutdown gale sayers and the bears to win 19 to 14 and move on to the final 4.....the rams...redskins and browns are in the final 4 and either the lions or packers will be the last one in.....great rams include : 30 lawrence mcutcheon ...89 fred dryer...85 Jack youngblood...32 cullent bryant...15 vince feragamo ...29 harold jackson and 22 john capaletti....great former bears include : 40 sayers...81 doug atkinson....87 ed obravavich....51 dick butkus...29 ronnie bull...and 89 mike ditka.....up next will be the hog w packers vs the big d lions.

Game 12

Packers 17 lions 14 ( 3 overtimes )

On the 3rd play of the 3rd overtime period the packers got 3 points and move on to the 3rd round ( LOL ...sorry couldnt resist ).....the packers missed a fg on the last play of regulation....then in overtime the lions missed a long fg but the packers put on one last drive that got them down close for a chip shot.....typically jim taylor is the star rb for the packers but paul hornung took over in the 2nd half to help the packers advance to the final 4....alex karras had a monster defensive game for the lions as he played in the green bay backfield the whole game.....outstanding former packers include : 5 hornung...31 taylor...15 bart starr ....24 willie wood...85 max McGhee....22 elijah pitts...and 63 fuzzy thurston.....great lions from the past include : 71 karras ...24 mel farr...36 steve owens...11 greg landry...53 mike lucci and 88 charlie sanders.....the final 4 teams are : the packers...the rams...the browns and the redskins.....up next will be the big white rams vs the hog dark washington team......on a side note and surprising to me is after 12 games the hogs have 7 wins vs the big teams 5.

Another close game that came down to a late sonny jurgenson interception by myron pottios and the rams hang on 14 to 10 and move on to the championship game to face the winner of the browns and packers.....outstanding players from the past include : 9 jurgenson...43 larry brown...42 charlie taylor...87 jerry smith...and 72 joe rudkins for washington......featured rams include : 66 pottios....18 roman gabriel...33 willie Ellison....22 dick bass....84 jack snow...74 merlin olsen and 75 david "deacon" jones.....next up will be the bigmen packers vs the hogleg browns....with a trip to the championship game on the line.

Game 14

Browns 21 packers 13

The 1st half doomed the packers as they missed 2 field goals and jim brown from cleveland had 2 tds. The browns led 14 to 0 at the half and held on to win 21 to 13.....the browns put the game away early in the 4th qt on a frank ryan to paul warfield 80 yd pass play to give the browns a 21 to 7 lead. The packers scored 1 more td on the next to last play of the game on a bart starr to carrol dale pass but they missed the extra point. Great cleveland players represented include : 32 Jim brown...42 paul warfield...13 frank ryan....44 leroy kelly....71 walter johnson ...77 dick schafrath....and 86 gary collins.....great former packers include : 15 starr...84 dale...31 jimmy taylor....75 forrest gregg....66 ray Nitschke and 87 willie davis.....The browns who are 3-2 in championship games will meet the rams who are 4-4 in the championship games....i will do a little preview in the next post.

Championship Preview

Both teams have won 3 games to get to this point....the rams defeated the 49ers...the bears and washington.....the browns defeated the giants...the steelers and the packers.....the most surprising thing in this tournament is that the smaller teams have won 9 out of the 14 matchups.....i guess the random selection of bases ... turnovers and the breaks of the game have been a bigger factor than just the size of the players......in order to be as fair as possible i picked 2 scenarios and simply flipped a coin to choose which teams would represent the rams and the browns.....heads meant the big d browns would play the hog w rams....and tails meant the big w rams would play the hog d browns.....it was heads....so the championship game will be between the big d browns and the hog w rams.....in championship games the rams are 4-4...the browns are 3-2.

Another little tweak before the championship game....a friend of mine needed some dark hog rams for his rams cowboys game so i sent him mine because its a very common hog team and i knew they wouldnt be hard to find another set. I just got my new ones and figured i would just use them for this game against the big white browns.....some of the great players from past include : quarterbacks 18 roman gabriel from the rams and 16 bill nelson for the browns.....running backs 32 jim brown...44 leroy kelly....and 48 ernie green for the browns......22 dick bass...33 willie ellison and 38 larry smith for the rams....te and wr for the browns...86 gary collins and 89 milt morin....84 jack snow and 80 bob klein for the rams.....a few great defensive linemen from the past include : 74 merlin olsen and 75 deacon jones from the rams.....71 walter johnson and 74 dick modzelewski ( hope i didnt butcher the spelling too bad ) of the browns..  All these guys were players that i watched and rooted for as a kid and just another reason i enjoy the game of electric football...it gives me a chance to honor the old teams and players from the 60s and 70s.

Game 15 ( championship game )

Browns 21 Rams 13

This game for the most part was like what I thought would be like most of the games when I set the tournament up...I thought the bigmen would dominate most games. But the smaller hoglegs hung tough and played even. ( The hogs actually won 8 out of the 15 games )....the browns rushing attack featuring Leroy Kelly ...Jim Brown...and Ernie Green...and the Browns led 21 to 6 in the 4th at. But Roman Gabriel and the Rams came back on a Gabriel to Dick Bass td pass play and then kicked onside and recovered to have a chance to pull it out but 2 straight incompletions ended the Rams chance for victory....outstanding browns from the past include : 32 Brown...44 Kelly...48 Green...16 Bill Nelson...86 Gary Collins...and 71 Walter Johnson.....former Rams include: 18 Gabriel...22 Bass...33 Willie Ellison...84 Jack Snow...75 Deacon Jones and 74 Merlin Olsen....I'll take a break for a little while and set up another tournament and continue playing the great game of electric football
