The 49ers took control early and the rams could never catch up....the 49ers move on to play the vikings in the next round.....the tournament is now down to the elite 8 round....in the nfc ...the 49ers face the vikings...the bears play the cardinals.....in the afc ...the steelers and patriots are in one matchup and the browns face the raiders in the other......great 49ers from the past include : 12 john Brodie....18 gene washington...85 preston riley...40 ken willard....22 vic washington....69 woody peoples and 42 doug cunningham....the rams were represented by : 18 roman gabriel...33 willie Ellison....74 merlin olsen....38 larry smith...22 dick bass and 84 jack snow......next up...the raiders and the browns.

Written game highlights with pictures is awesome! I also like the format. This season I chose to go down to a three game schedule from the 5 game schedule. So far I like it a lot. Really like the old Redskins uniforms, and the Raiders away jersey numbers are super cool. Terry Metcalf is a beast!

Thanks...and thanks to tudor for having this forum...i really enjoy it....those raider numbers are old buzzball and they really make my white raiders pop....came on to post the latest game...it was another good one.

Game 20

49ers 23 vikings 17

In my last tournament these 2 met and i called it the "gene washington game"....it looked like this one was going to be a repeat up to the last play....the vikings went ahead 17 to 16 on a joe kapp qb sneak....then gene washington of the 49ers ran back the kickoff to give the 49ers the lead back....on the last play of the game ...kapp found the vikings gene washington all alone down the seam that would with the extra point won the game for the vikings....but dave Wilcox of the 49ers tackled him and allowed the 49ers to move on to the nfl championship game to face the winner of the bears and cardinals......outstanding 49ers from the past include : 18 washington...64 Wilcox....82 ted kwalick.....75 forest blue....12 john brodie...40 ken willard....44 john david crow...69 woody peoples...and 57 frank nunley......great vikings from the past include : 84 washington....11 kapp....70 jim marshall....30 bill brown...41 dave osborn...80 john Henderson....81 carl eller...and 59 lonnie warwick......up next will be the steelers vs the patriots...with the winner advancing to the afc championship to face the raiders

Game 21

Patriots 21 steelers 17

The boston patriots continue their amazing run with a 21 to 17 win over the steelers. Franco harris scored with 5 plays left to give the steelers the lead 17 to 14....but i thought ...the steelers might have wanted to hold off a little longer....sure enough jim plunkett found randy vataha over the middle on the next to last play and the patriots move on to face the raiders in the AFC championship.....great patriots from the past include : 16 plunkett...18 vataha...30 carl garrett...72 larry eisenhower....73 john hannah...20 gino capaletti....and 34 ron sellers....great steelers represented include : 32 franco harris...75 joe greene...58 jack lambert....20 rocky blier...64 steve furness...68 lc greenwood....and 52 mike webster.....next up will be the bears vs the cardinals with the winner moving on to face the 49ers in the NFC championship.

Thanks...ill type them up after while and post...they are pretty simple and i designed them so a game last about an hour so i dont have to sit long time and it works out to be fair to both teams.

Ok ...ill try to keep post short as i can...but after years of playing i found a way of playing that fits for me.....start of game i let designated visiting team select low or high on dice to determine choice to kick or rec.....i use kickoffs where runner starts on 2....front line of rec team lines up on 50...kicking team on their 40......i play 10 plays per qt....a play is a run or pass from start...if a pass i turn the qb and let him drop 20 yds...he can be turned toward line then and must run or pass before getting to l.o.s....i use dice on passing....i pick rec....a completion is a 4..5..or 6...incomplete is 2 or 3 and a roll of 1 is an interception to closest defender to rec.....i also use dice to punt or kick fg...1 on extra point means no good...what ever number comes up is the distance of the kick grom the l.o.s....example 30 yd fg would have to be roll of 3 or better....rolling a 5 on a punt for example would be a 50 yd punt.....no returns on punts or fg.....defense must align base on base and no more than 4 behind l.o.s.....( prevents stacking )....offense i use basic formations...1 back...2 back pro set...double tight t ....spread formation....just basic old offense....to kick an onside kick it must be 4th qt and the team must be behind to kick onside.....( onside kick i put ball on 50 ...line both teams on 40 and first touch gets the ball ...i saw one guy said he lines both teams on 30 instead of 40...im thinking of trying that .....i use the same 22 bases for entire tourney...i use 10 widetops for line...and 12 tweaked bases for skill players...soon as one game ends i base up next 2 teams...alternating between the last 2 teams...example if bears played lions and next game is vikes vs packers...the packers would get say 5 bears bases and 6 lions bases. .etc...i dont turn players after passes if a catch is made and player is going wrong direction he is down closest part of base toward his goal....qb can be turned once on his drop.....i use the old tutor rule of base touch and runner is down.....the dice speads up the game and saves time...like i said typical game last 1 hour to hour and 15 min....it works well for me.

Cardinals 20 bears 14

Probably in the late 60s little boys all over the midwest woke up on christmas morning hoping to find the old midsize 613 game featuring these 2 teams...im sure they played many times all across the country too.....ive been looking forward to this game because gale sayers and terry metcalf have been having great games as the feature back for these 2 teams....the bears were knocking on the door late in the game but the cardinals hold on to win 20 to 14 and will now play the 49ers in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP.....great bears include : 40 sayers...51 dick butkus...68 doug Osborne...89 mike ditka....34 walter payton...41 brian piccolo...55 doug buffone...and 11 jack concannon.....great cardinals include: 21 metcalf....81 jackie smith...35 jim otis...72 dan dierdorf ...54 tom banks and 85 mel gray.....up next will be raiders vs the patriots in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP.

Because i have all the hogleg teams in dark and white...typically i just go by the last time i used a team or my favorite uniform ....i noticed the cardinals have played 3 games in white and even though it is my favorite ill go ahead and use the dark vs the 49ers next game.....i was going to play the w patriots and d raiders tonight...but i have bought a few bigmen teams lately and i just got the big raiders today im going to go ahead and play big raiders and big patriots....the old AFL teams only came in dark jerseys except for jets.....another old tudor mystery is tudor didnt put the stripe on the raiders helmet for some reason...but i collect them the way they made them.

Game 23

Raiders 14 patriots 10

The patriots started the game with a long 11 play drive that ended in a jim nance td....hewert dixon answered for the raiders 3 plays later....the patriots led 10 to 7 at the half. Dixon added another td in the middle of the 3rd qt to put the raiders back out in front. The patriots put together another nice drive but eventually turned the ball over on downs. Then the raiders did what they do best when leading in the 4th qt....give the ball to marv hubbard and move the sticks....the raiders are the first team to punch the super bowl ticket and will now wait to see if they will meet the 49ers or cardinals in the big game....i will say the patriots had a good run and won several more games than they typically do in these tournaments. ....outstanding raiders include : 00 Jim otto...35 hewart dixon...44 marv hubbard...12 kenny stabler....21 cliff branch...55 dan conners...78 art shell....and 83 ben davidson.....the patriots included : 35 Jim nance...30 carl garrett....72 larry eisenhower...16 jim plunkett...18 randy vataha...73 john hannah....and 20 geno capaletti.

One thing i try to do with electric football is show a little gratitude to yesterdays stars and honor them for providing some great memories to those of us who grew up in the 60s and 70s....the nfl and tudor really took off in that era......metcalf has had a very good tournament for sure....im going to try and play the cards and 49ers tonight.

Charlie,  I feel the same way.  That is why I enjoy your posts and why my league has so many players from the 60s and 70s.  I have players from 1960 through 1999 on my teams and include many players from the 60s and 70s.  With 55 players on 16 teams, I have plenty of room for the oldies but goodies, as well as some of the younger players.  Thanks for the memories. 😊

Game 24

Well this time of year i do some buying..selling and trading....so ive been a little preoccupied with that but i finally got to play tonight and it was a very very exciting game....nfc championship....49ers 41 cardinals 37......the bases and players were in rare form tonight....the cardinals ran out of time or u could say the 49ers had one more big play...it would be a toss up......terry Metcalf had another monster game with 4 tds....jim hart didnt even have to throw a pass till late in the game and that was a td to macarthur lane....ken willard had 3 tds and gene washington had 2...john brodie had 3 td passes as the 49ers advance to face the raiders....i took a picture of all 11 tds...not sure how many will load in one post but i guess ill find out....great stars of the past include : 18 washington..40 willard...12 brodie...44 john david crowe....75 forrest blue...82 ted kwalick...57 frank nunley...22 vic washington...64 dave wilcox and 69 woody peoples for the 49ers......great cardinals include : 21 metcalf...36 lane...17 hart...35 jim otis...66 conrad dobler...64 bob young...73 ernie mcmillan..54 tom banks....81 jackie smith...and 80 dave williams....ill do a little preview before i play the raiders and 49ers for the super bowl.

Super Bowl preview

This will be the raiders 9th super bowl since i started the tournament format. The raiders are 2 -6 in super bowl play. This will be the 3rd super bowl for the 49ers. The 49ers are 2-0 and that includes a 28 to 3 win over the raiders. The raiders will be in road White and the 49ers in home dark. Both teams received 1st round byes because they had won their division in the real 1970 season. Ironically both lost in the conference championship in 1970...the raiders to the colts and the 49ers lost to the cowboys....in this tournament the raiders defeated the chargers 24-3..the browns 26 to 21...and the patriots 14 to 10....the 49ers beat the rams 14 to 3....the vikings 23 to 17...and the cardinals 41 to 37. ..i should play this one in the next few days.

Ive been a little preoccupied with completing my 1967 tudor original AFL BIGMEN COLLECTION.....got the last piece of the puzzle today by getting the chargers....tudor made the 9 AFL teams in dark jersey only except for the w jets....the bengals were not part of the bigmen collection and tudor started making them in 1969 hogleg era.....now that ive completed the AFL set im hoping i can play the super bowl in next day or 2.
