  1. BUCS EDGE RIVAL PANTHERS IN WAR AS GILES SINKS PANTHERS WITH 100-YARD TD TO WIN THE GAME! (August 10, 2020. Tampa, Florida). Division rivalry week wasn't just Week#1. This week features Matt "Zoo-York" Mulqueen's Carolina Panthers who have been right on the cuff of winning an NFC title, with one team standing in their way the past two NFC Championship Games ... the 2018 and 2019 back-to-back Long Island Electric Football Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XV Champion, Los Angeles Rams, who Carolina can't seem to figure out. Otherwise, the Panthers might very well be the second or third best team in this league, so Mulqueen has to get over-the-hump. Coach Mulqueen said, "That Rams team is built to win. Everyone in the league wants a piece of them, but they show up with a plan and it seems almost mystical the way they win. When you are playing against them, they make so many adjustments that by the time you think it out, or even make a small mistake, they figure you out. Now, that's good coaching by Billy O'C, and I just need to better prepare my team. Just remember, third time is a charm." Never fear because Mulqueen's Panthers are a group of offensive warriors and their defense is right where with the best of them. They just need to compete and test their level with a very challenging schedule ahead of them. With all the great coaches and teams in the league, Mulqueen will be in the playoffs with at least one of his teams, and as his experience grows, he will figure out the better coaches and teams. Mulqueen’s three other teams are Philadelphia (0-1), Kansas City (1-0), and Cleveland (1-1), all contenders. Mulqueen's opponent, Tampa Bay Coach Joe Pizz on the other end is playing with one of his favorite running backs, Buccaneers Ricky Bell who he thinks can get the best of the Panthers. The Bucs will play the Panthers tough and the fireworks will go off early. Pizz said, "With the Panthers we have to get an early lead and play them to our potential, but I have a few surprises in store with my plan for today's game. Our front three of Selmon, Sapp and Culpepper I think are the right mix for DeShaun Foster and their offense. If we want to win the division we think it will be through Carolina for my Bucs." Pizz also coaches the Minnesota Vikings (0-1), New York Jets (0-1) and the New York Giants (1-0), who have a huge game at Chicago this week to face Paddy Brannigan's Bears. Pizz claims he has mastered the art of preparation. Tampa Bay opened the game with an 83-yard kick return by Giles to the Carolina Panthers 17-yard line, smoking the Panthers special teams unit. Six plays later fullback Mike Alstott caught a 15-yard pass in the end zone for a touchdown with 3:41 left in the half to make the score 7-0, Bucs! This turned out to be a game of play-makers and great coaching as Coach Pizz' investment in LIEFL All-Pro Jimmy Giles who Pizz picked up in last year's Draft, payed off big for Tampa Bay! Giles has become his favorite go-to guy for the Buccaneers! Mulqueen has his own favorites. In response to the Bucs 7-0 lead, the Panthers emerging star fullback and return specialist Greg Jones, stepped up with a tremendous 100-yard touchdown run, silencing Tampa Bay and keeping the streak alive for Jones with another consecutive hundred yard explosive touchdown game to tie this game at 7-7, with 2:58 left to go in the half. Mulqueen says that Jones practices that kick-return 10 or 15 times a day consistently. Jones is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous players in the league for Carolina with the one-two punch of Jones and Foster, which makes the Panthers a team you can never ignore in the standings. Coach Mulqueen has prepared the double-threat of Jones and Foster as the play-makers vie for a title, but like all teams in the league, the teams who play well and perform on the road, are the teams who will be in the playoff picture come November. Considering the Panthers difficult schedule they have a huge mountain to climb with three more away games, including Minnesota (0-1), and a rematch of the 2019 NFC Wild Card Game on the road with Green Bay (1-0). Mulqueen's Panthers won that shootout against the great coach, Ed Viglietta's Packers, 42-20. Jimmy Giles returned his second kick-off of 40 yards, but the Buccaneers struggled on the run and on a second-down pass play Carolina's DeShaun Foster made a tremendous tackle on Tight End Dave Moore, for Tampa Bay which prevented a Tampa Bay touchdown. Moore picked up 31 yards on the play. After two consecutive runs of three yards, Tampa Bay All-Pro running back Ricky Bell took it in from 18 yards out to put the Bucs ahead 14-7, with 9:01 left in the game! Carolina drove all the way down field with a 60-yard return by the "Beast" Greg Jones. And on the 1st down from scrimmage DeShaun Foster put his magic to work with an end-around run around the right side of the field for a 39-yard pickup, and two plays later Foster scored a touchdown from a yard out, making the score 14-14 with 2:10 left in this exciting battle! Tampa Bay was not finished yet. Coach Pizz promised a surprise. They saved their best for last and were ready for these Panthers. With the score tied at 14-14, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jimmy Giles took an electrifying run back a hundred yards for the touchdown with Greg Jones in pursuit with 1:47 left to go in the game as the Buccaneers jumped ahead for good, 21-14! As the clock ran down on the Panthers, Greg Jones ran back a 50-yard return on the Panthers last play of the game hoping for a miracle, but the Buccaneers knocked him out of bounds giving Tampa Bay a spectacular victory over the Carolina Panthers 21-17! All Coach Mulqueen could do was roll his eyes in the air with a clenched fist, watching his Panthers bow to division rival Tampa Bay on the Bucs home turf in a game the Panthers (1-1) will not forget. Jimmy Giles, the big play-maker would be the difference in this rivalry! Giles finished the day with 223 yards and a hundred yard TD, and for Carolina's Greg Jones, he finished with 210 yards and a hundred-yarder, his second in two weeks. Coach Pizz said, "This might be one of my favorite wins because the Panthers are ranked and we are shooting for the division title with this team. We have come so close to making the playoffs the past few seasons and came up short. But, Giles has brought us to new heights and we expect to be there in November come playoff time where anything can happen. Our schedule will be a great test. Let's see if we can rise to the occasion." The last time Pizz brought the LIEFL #19-Ranked Bucs (66-86) to the playoffs was 2016, when they lost in the NFC Divisional Game to the Detroit Lions, 28-24. The Bucs are (12-9) and they have finished 2nd, 3rd, and 2nd in the division since then.   3. STEELERS STOP DAVIS AND THE BRONCOS IN THRILLER! August 9, 2020 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In a huge game between the Pittsbugh Steelers (0-1) and the high-octane Denver Broncos, the Broncos took a ride on the "Bus" Jerome Bettis who totaled 205 yards in the game and 26 yards rushing. Bettis and the Steelers opened the game with a 74-yard kick-return blazing by the 2019 #1 defense in the LIEFL! The Broncos came up big last week beating the Tennessee Titans 24-21 in a game that Terrell Davis totaled 370 all-purpose yards with two hundred yard touchdown runs. This game with Coach Brannigan's Steelers wouldn't end the way Denver alternate coach Billy O'C thought it would. Because Brannigan plays for both teams, O'Connell is the alternate coach. After last week's loss the New York Giants, Brannigan practiced this week to beat his Broncos. Brannigan said, "It's tough to play against one of my own teams, but my goal is to get one of my four teams to the playoffs." On the second play the game Pittsburgh's Jerome Bettis ran in a 26-yard touchdown to get the Steelers into the end-zone, 7-0! The Broncos took it down to the last minute of the half to score on a 28-yard touchdown reception from Denver quarterback John Elway to wide receiver, Ed McCaffrey to tie the score, 7-7! The Denver defense showed up, stopping Bettis and the Steeler run on second down, forcing Pittsburgh to kick a 59-yard field goal to make the score 10-7, Steelers! The Pittsburgh defense played the Broncos very tough after a 58-yard kick return by Terrell Davis. The Steelers stop the Broncos on the first two runs. On third down they forced Denver to pass as Elway hit Shannon Sharpe for a first-down at the 18-yard line of the Steelers, for a pickup of 29 yards. After a great 17-yard run by Davis. Davis ran in a tight 4-yard run with 4:04 remaining in the game with the score Denver 14 and Pittsburgh 10. The Steelers went to work fast. On first down Lynn Swann broke away for a 30 yard touchdown pass from Terry Bradshaw putting the Steelers up 17-14, with a minute left to go in the game. Denver's Davis took back a long run 22 yards to end the game with the Steelers winning and dramatic fashion giving the Broncos the first loss of the season. What a thriller! The Steelers hand the Broncos their first loss of the season as they head back to Denver to face Tampa Bay (0-1) next week.   4. CLEVELAND STUMPS HIGH-OCTANE CINCINNATI IN WEEK TWO! August 9, 2020, Cleveland, Ohio. The Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) came off a Week#1 victory over the tough highly respected, AFC Los Angeles Chargers 20-14, but they couldn't withstand the pressure of the Cleveland Browns (1-1) defense in Week#2, as the Browns shut down the Cincinnati running game and the stars of last week's game for Cincinnati seemed to have disappeared falling into the hands of a hard-nose Cleveland Browns defense who was roughed up last week by Baltimore 17-7! We have to give Cleveland credit for their game plan against Cincinnati. Cincinnati Coach Johnny "Freeport-Chucker" came in with his usual talk, but it didn't stop Cleveland Coach Matt "Zoo-York" Mulqueen, the Bronx kid, from firing up his Browns. Cleveland's Jim Brown started the game for the Browns with a 98-yard kick return bringing the ball to the division rival's two-yard line. And two plays later Mike Pruitt ran it in for a two-yard touchdown to give the Browns the lead 7-0! The Bengals fired back as Icky Woods took the ball back 62-yards on the Bengals first kick return to the Cleveland 38-yard line, and the Bengals just couldn't seem to get anything going on the run. Rookie Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow managed to hit Archie Griffin for a short 15-yard pass, but Cincinnati was forced by a ferocious Browns defense to kick a field-goal making the score 7-3, Cleveland. Cincinnati had a quiet game, but their coach complained about the play calling of Cleveland as the "Freeport-Chucker" and his Cincinnati Bengals, who last week exploded on the Los Angeles Chargers, have to figure it out for week three where it's certainly not going to get any easier for them as they play the competitive Philadelphia Eagles and the #1 kick-retuner in the LIEFL, Harold Carmichael! Cleveland Coach Mulqueen worked out a great game-plan for tonight's game. Everything went right for the Cleveland Browns. Jimmy Brown had two big kick-returns for 98 and 54 yards and he ran the ball on the ground well with 39 yards rushing with a 19 yard touchdown run. Brown ended up with 191 total yards in the game with a touchdown, and Fullback Mike Pruitt, who hasn't touched the ball in two seasons carried one in for two yards as the Cleveland Browns beat up on the Cincinnati Bengals 14-3! The Browns silenced the big Bengal line as they move on to play the Washington Football Team (1-0), and then Cleveland is on the road for three tough opponents in Dallas, Jacksonville, and the New York Giants. "The Freeport-Chucker" said, It's no secret we don't like each other. They are our rivals, and Mulqueen thinks he's the better coach. Well, today he was, but I didn't play a good game and I let my Bengals down, but kudos to Mulqueen, he outplayed me. As Week #1 comes to a close, the Long Island Electric Football League finished with a huge bang as the legendary comeback kids, the LIEFL #3-Ranked Denver Broncos (102-60-1 All-Time), took on the always competitive LIEFL #31-Ranked Tennessee Titans (21-18 All-Time), in a game that was originally postponed due to Hurricane Asaias. The Titans proved they will go the distance with anyone! In the five seasons since their arrival to the Long Island Electric Football League, Tennessee has made it to the AFC Championship Game twice and for the Broncos, they have won the division five times, been to the AFC Championship Game three times, and they are the only team other than Miami to have an undefeated regular season in 1982 as the Broncos went (14-0) only to be upset in the first round of the playoffs by Buffalo 28-27! Fast forward to today's game, Denver Coach Paddy Brannigan just came off a loss to the New York Giants 10-7 with his Pittsburgh Steelers, so this was a relief to see his Broncos come alive. Coach Kevin Maloney brought his fast-paced Titans to play these Broncos tough. The game was filled with fast-paced movement and big plays. Denver's Terrell Davis opened the game with a stunner, taking it back for a 100 yard kick-return for the touchdown, 7-0 Broncos! The Titans usual return man All-Pro Brandon Jones turned his duties over Enron Kinney who was on fire tonight as Kinney responded with a 100 yard touchdown of his own, 7-7, tie game! On Denver's next kickoff return Davis stomped an open hole for a 58 yard kick-return and one play later behind that huge Broncos Line, Davis scored a 42-yard touchdown, 14-7 Denver! Tennessee came right back as Kinney was stopped at the Titan 34 yard line. The Titans struggled running the ball, but Ryan Tannenhill was on fire as he lit up the air game hitting Kinney for a 41 yard first down and then a 43 yard touchdown! The Broncos answered with Davis' second 100 yard kick return for a touchdown up the left sideline buzzing past a group of Titan defenders to put Denver ahead, 21-14! Tennessee finally got going with running back Eddie George moving the ball up field with runs of 13, 9, and a three yard first down. Tannenhill wasn't finished. He aired it out with a 50 yard touchdown catch by Kinney again, for his third touchdown of the day totaling three catches for 134 yards with two touchdowns, and then he had two kick-returns for 134 yards with the 100 yard touchdown! What a day for Kinney 268 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. The score was tied with 1:38 left in the game! Davis whizzed up-field for a 62 yard kick return and what a day! The Broncos would drive the ball with seconds left, finally kicking the field goal to win the game 24-1! Davis went "Beast-Mode" with for the Broncos carrying the ball three times for 50 yards and a 42 yard touchdown run, and he had four kick returns for an amazing 320 yard game with two 100 yard touchdowns, totaling 370 yards with three touchdowns as the Broncos head to Pittsburgh (0-1) to face Coach Brannigan again. The Titans face division rival Jacksonville (0-1) at home.   11. NEW YORK GIANTS EDGE STEELERS IN BATTLE FOR YARDS! (Be sure to check out the attachments with team schedule, statistics, and history of each team if you like this sort of thing). (Meadowlands, NJ August 6, 2020). With the delay from Hurricane Isaias, this 67' BIG MEN Long Island Electric Football League brawl will finally happen after days of postponements on Coach Pizz behalf. What a classic Long Island Electric Football League match-up of an AFC team and NFC team if ever there could be. We have two top ten LIEFL teams in the #5-Ranked Pittsburgh Steelers (90-68), against the #9-Ranked New York Giants (81-70). Both of these teams are tremendous electric football teams. It's a competitive pairing of two big Coaches in Paddy Brannigan, whose Steelers are on the rise against the historic New York Giants coached by coach Joe Pizz! With the league constantly improving through the Draft, both of these teams are fighting there way back into the spotlight. Coach Brannigan's Steelers finished (3-4) last season, but they battle hard in the AFC North. The "Bus" is a deal-breaker for any defense in this league. True to his nickname, Pittsburgh's Jerome Bettis #13 AFC in rushing and #28 LIEFL, did manage 44 carries for 712 All-Purpose Yards with 8 touchdowns and 2 100 yard kick returns for touchdowns after a slow start in what seemed like a soft year for the veteran. Bettis had 36 rushes for 211 yards with four touchdowns! Even with the #4 Ranked defense in 2019 for the Giants, this should be a great offensive match-up. Rookie running back Shaquon Barkley #7 NFC and #13 LIEFL in rushing had a respectable 44 rookie carries for 476 yards, with 6 touchdowns for the New York Giants. Barkley performed well for Coach Pizz, who knows how to develop talent from the Draft. New York also has the dangerous return specialist Ahman Bradshaw, who added 21 carries for 818 kick-return yards, and one touchdown for the dangerous Giants offense. New York finished (2-5) in 2019, and and they played so tough in Long Island Electric Football Super Bowl XI, but lost in a heart-breaker to the AFC Oakland Raiders (9-1) in 2008, 27-21 in OT when Raiders star Dave Casper ended the heart-crushing game for Pizz with an electrifying 100-yard touchdown run giving Oakland their first Super Bowl victory! That was a tough one. On the opening kickoff New York Giants Ahman Bradshaw took it back 37 yards and Pittsburgh John Stallworth made a nice open field tackle. On first down Giants second year player for Coach Pizz, Shaquon Barkley opened up for a 10-yard first-down and brought down by legendary tackle, L.C. Greenwood. The Giants offensive line moved the ball on another consecutive first down by Barkley to the Steelers 38-yard line. The match-up at tackle between New York tackle Dave Diehl and Pittsburgh All-Pro and Pro Bowl Starter John Kolb was a great one. The Steelers had to make several adjustments on the line to stuff that powerful Giants front three of George Martin, Leonard Marshall, and Michael Strahan. Another big run for Barkley to the 28-yard line of the Steelers for coach Pizz, and New York Giants first down. Steelers coach Brannigan does not look happy, so far the Steelers defensive line has made three adjustments and the Giants just keep on moving forward. And on the next play after the 28 yard pick-up for New York, Barkley blows open around the left side of the Steelers weak-side for another 26-yard pickup to the Steelers 2-yard line! The Giants line are performing! Last season the Giants beat up on the AFC opening eyes, especially when they beat the Miami Dolphins the AFC Champions 17-7, during the regular season game, but that extremely challenging schedule for the Giants on the road prevented them from a playoff shot. Coach Pizz is trying to reel the team in to focus on the moment rather than the season. That challenge is what transforms the good teams from the average teams in the league. With 5:11 left to go in a half Barkley runs to the left side of the Steelers defensive line, scoring a 2-yard touchdown making the score 7-0, Giants. On the Steelers first kick-return of the game Lynn Swann, who had a poor season last year, returned the ball for 37-yards setting the Steelrs in motion of their first offensive set. With the "Bus" Jerome Bettis at the helm, with 1:55 left in the half, Bettis stormed around the left side of the Giants defense for a 36-yard pick up for the Steelers as the Pittsburgh offensive line goes fast to work to the New York giant 28-yard line. Coach Brannigan was yelling out loud as the Steelers and Bettis masterfully finished strong. Bettis is generally a slow starter and that's what Brannigan and the Steelers are trying to change. The Steelers kept driving until Big George Martin, lineman for the Giants, made a great play for the Giants for a 7-yard loss taking down the big Bus at the 35-yard line. The Steelers were forced to pass on third down and Bradshaw looking to air it out, found Rocky Bleier for a quick 23- yard first down. Bleier made a beautiful one-handed catch taking Pittsburgh to the 15-yard line of the Giants with 12:44 left to go in that game. After two failed runs by Bettis, the Steelers came roaring back on third down with a beautiful short past to Jerome Bettis from the great Terry Bradshaw, to tie the score at 7-7, with 6:44 left to go in the game! On the Giants next kickoff Bradshaw took it back 45 yards and was hit hard by Jack Lambert. On a beautiful second downplay for New York Barkley swept through an open hole for a 25-yard pick up to the Steelers 30-yard line with 3:37 left to go in the game. The Giants kept on driving on an another big 11-yard run by Barkley to the Steelers 18-yard line with the clock running down with seconds to go in the game, the New York Football Giants and Coach Pizz kick the deciding field-goal to win the game 10-7! What a defensive battle. The Steelers could not stop Giants running back Shaquon Barkley as he carried the ball 10 times for 101 yards rushing and a two yard touchdown run. Bettis finished 5 carries for 41 yards with a 10 yard touchdown catch from Bradshaw.   13. CARDINALS BURN RIVAL 49ERS IN WEEK #1 OT UPSET! Long Island Electric Football League AUGUST 4, 2020. San Francisco, California. In the Long Island Electric Football League 2019 season, the LIEFL #22-Ranked Arizona Cardinals (64-89 All-Time), did not play division rival, LIEFL #17-Ranked San Francisco 49ers (66-76 All-Time), but they will move up in the pre-season rankings for 2020, to #6 after today's game! The 49ers were ranked 6th in the LIEFL pre-season poll. In-your face Coach Kevin Maloney at 6 ft 4' has pulled off many upsets in his four years in the league, this time with his Arizona Cardinals against Ed Viglietta's 49ers, in a heart breaker for Coach Vigs. The Cardinals fell apart in game #6 last year losing to division rivals, Seattle Seahawks 17-14. Up to that point, Arizona was undefeated at 5-0! Then in Game#7, they lost in a fierce battle to the Los Angeles Rams 17-14, and then Arizona was eliminated from advancing in the playoffs, finally losing in the LIEFL NFC Divisional Game to the Carolina Panthers who gave the Cards a taste of fullback Greg Jones, losing 49-35! This team opens holes and Watters finds them with speed and accuracy, like an NFL back. But the Cardinal defense is big! Tudor put some beef into a few 67 BIG MEN teams, and the Cardinals are one of them. We didn't like the Arizona uniforms so we decided to create our own, worthy of a look. San Francisco has created some history, winning the NFC West four times in their LIEFL career, but the team to beat in the West is the Los Angeles Rams, and now Arizona Cardinals. In 2019 they won six games in this league and ended up losing in the first round of the NFC divisional game to those 2019 Rams 38-34, after winning the NFC West title. The difference in those wins for the Rams has been Ricky Watters and Jerry Rice who combined for a total 2605 all-purpose yards with 22 total touchdowns between the two players last season. Coach Viglietta said, "When that 747 lands on your back and you're out of energy it can be tough to carry on through. The 49ers were involved in some tremendous games last season, opening the season up with a historic battle, one which went into the LIEFL history books when they lost 35-31, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 14th. Then on September 27th, they had another historic game beating the high-octane Atlanta Falcons 31-28, in overtime! There was a total of 880 yards in that game with 8 touchdowns. Ricky Watters had 170 yards rushing, and Jerry Rice returned the ball five times for 273 yards. Superstar Gerald Riggs in that game had 224 yards and another 126 yards rushing. These are historic games in the Long Island Electric football League, unforgettable as the league's competitiveness continues to rise and the coaches 100% committed to bringing home a trophy. Tonight, two beautifully tailored teams in new uniforms took the field ready to rumble. It made the game feel like the intensity of the two coaches and the teams was a perfect match! Jerry Rice opened up the game with a 53-yard return only to be met by Cardinal linebacker Gene Stallings on a hard-hit! The 49ers took over with Ricky Watters at the helm. On first down Watters got bounced back 13 yards by All-Pro lineman, Dan Dierdorf who's part of that talented and speedy Cardinal line. These birds are a very difficult defense to manage, and Coach Maloney will bring it all! He did not stop running his psych the entire game. On second down, Watters slid through the line, exploding for 26 yards to the Arizona 21-yard line for the first down. In the trenches San Francisco lineman Fred Dean, stepped up for the 49ers opening a huge hole and regaining that 13 yard loss from the previous play, plus 26 more yards for the first down! And after two failed runs, Watters got open in the flats and caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Montana for a 7-0, 49ers lead with 6:09 remaining in the half! Arizona's All-Pro return specialist, Mel Gray took the ball back 53-yards on his return until he's met up with Freddie Dean on a crushing hit. And on the very next play Cardinals fullback OJ Anderson runs and stuns the crowd with a pretty 47-yards run around 49er lineman Fred Dean, into the end zone untouched, tying the game 7-7 for the Cardinals! The Cardinals were the only team in the Long Island Electric football league who were undefeated until the 6th week of action last season. Viglietta was on high-alert, knowing his 49ers come into such an important game so early on in the season. That Arizona front offensive line looks phenomenal opening a huge hole through tough defensive tackle Chris Doleman, for the 49ers. Anderson just swept around the left side with no one to tackle him. On the kickoff Jerry Rice returned the ball 51-yards setting up Ricky Watters. Watters took over again with a brilliant 41-yard run to the Arizona 8-yard line with 1:03 left to go in the half with the 49ers driving the ball. Two plays later, Watters ran the ball in earning another first down for 3 yards and scoring on a sweet 6-yard touchdown making the score 14-7 with 13:16 left to go in the game. It was Arizona Mel Gray's turn again. Gray ran back a beautiful 61-yard kick-return setting up the Cardinals at the 39-yard line. On second down OJ Anderson picked up five yards in a huge collision with Ricky Watters at the 33-yard line of the 49ers. On third down Anderson scampered 11 yards for another Arizona first down at the 49er 22-yard line. The San Francisco linebacker corps went to work with Ronnie Lott, Ken Norton and Fred Dean making a huge stop on Anderson on 1st down for a loss of a yard. Anderson on third down runs for another 6 yards for a first down at the 49er 10-yard line. The Cardinals weren't finished yet. Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray threw a beautiful pass for a 5-yard touchdown to Anderson who scores his second touchdown of the game, coming up big for the Cardinals, tying the game at 14 and sending it into overtime in another Week#1 dramatic overtime game! Maloney's Arizona Cardinals wins the toss in OT! In overtime Cardinals Mel Gray got tripped up with a 28-yard kick return and on first down Anderson got stuffed for a six yard loss by the 49er defense. There is no quit in these two teams or coaches. On a 45-yard pass play from Murray, Anderson landed at the 33-yard line of San Francisco as the Cardinals go in for the kill. Every point counts as you know, at the end of the season if it comes down to points in a division teams fight for the most points in the event of a tiebreaker. That's why I sometimes teams run up the scores with no mercy because you can actually help them get into the playoffs When the Cardinals went back to the running game on first down after the 45 yard pass reception to Anderson, Big Fred Dean came up with his third tackle on Anderson, but what a game for Anderson. He had 10 carries for 83 yards rushing, and he caught two passes for 50 yards with two touchdowns for Arizona totaling 12-133-2 touchdowns and all-purpose yards. San Francisco's Ricky Watters finished with 7 carries and 77 yards rushing, and he caught a 21-yard touchdown pass totaling 8-98-2 touchdowns and all-purpose yards. The Cardinals kicked the field-goal from 25 yards out to win the game 17-14 in 6:47 of overtime! Arizona wins big! They play the (1-0) Washington Football Team next week, and San Francisco goes to New York to play back-to-back New York teams, the Jets (0-1) and Giants who play Pittsburgh this week. As the two coaches shook hands this week and parted ways, Viglietta said, "The Cardinals have to be respected, but we know they are beatable and so is Maloney, it is just a matter of time . We shouldn't have lost this game and in this league every game is a playoff game because there only seven games, so losing at home is the worse thing that could happen, especially to the division rival. Maloney had some words for the 49ers. "The 49ers were 6-1 in my division last season. I watched them on more than one occasion and studied Watters and his running style. We know that Jerry Rice can't be stopped on kick returns, but we need to slow him down. I knew they'd be hard to stop, but I knew if we won an OT coin toss we had a fighting chance. Coach Vigs is a great coach, but I think I am a little better! At least today we were. Upsets are in the making from my teams, they are ready, I spent some time honing in on the hobby and making my teams tough and ready for these guys,"said Maloney. Maloney also said that one of his teams will win the Super Bowl, and this Arizona Cardinal team is gunning for the Rams! We had to be sure Maloney was bringing regulation size guys. Between him and Coach "Paddy" Branigan, the league is on full alert for these two renegade coaches. Sounds like Maloney's plan worked! Their teams suite them well. Branigan has the Pittsburgh Steelers coming up against Coach Pizz' Giants.
