  1. LEGENDARY BUTKUS DIES. (Long Island Electric Football League, Long Island, New York). It's a sad day in Chicago as another Bears legend has passed away. Chicago Bears legend Dick Butkus, one of the greatest middle linebackers to ever suit up in the NFL, has died at the age of 80, the team announced via a statement from his family. The Butkus family said the Pro Football Hall of Famer "died peacefully in his sleep overnight at home in Malibu, California." Butkus patrolled the middle for the Monsters of the Midway for nine seasons, stuffing the stat sheet and striking fear into the hearts of opponents in the process. In real life, Butkus was a five-time first team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl selection, Butkus was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-1960s and All-1970s teams and was inducted as a player in 1979. Written by Levi Vick, approved by Billy O'C. (Long Island, New York). The FORUM on the Tudor Games site is a great way to preach our hobby! LIEFL Commissioner Billy O'C said, "With Bryan or Beenut at the helm for Tudor, the game of electric football can only get better! Already we see a difference in product delivery. We ordered player bases last week, and we received the bases in literally three days from the date of purchase. We hope the quality improves by bringing back a wish list of vintage game boards, player figures, and quality decals. In our purchase, we could only use one out of 22 bases for our draft pool. The rest were duds, so Tudor and Nutt have challenges ahead, but we believe he will meet the desire for quality. Cincinnati's Ickey Woods is the only player who came from the pool. Like your leagues, the LIEFL draft is a testament to how amazing the league has been, with a constant focus on improving every single player, that's 352 in the LIEFL with the best-of-best 11-man rosters, but without high-quality bases we are at the mercy of Tudor's production team in the future. Playing for money puts a different twist on things in terms of supply and demand. The demand is the same Kaizen philosophy that 'a business can always make or do things better, and that all problems should be seen as opportunities to improve things as a methodical process'. That is the approach the LIEFL has taken under Billy O'C to improve the league, and it just keeps getting better. The riches come with improvement. ... A look back in history ... carrying on with tradition, reaching a new level of the hobby, electric football for Tudor Games could be the innovators in reinventing Norm Sas' dreams and vision in a modern way. Enough is never enough when you are a board warrior! We are well aware that there is whole world of bad-ass EF-Ballers out there and we full well realize we are not alone! That's the amazing part of the hobby. The futuristic, even better electric football games, players, and accessories might find a new place in history. Bryan Nutt has the mind to do this and more, and he is methodical from our experience as customers of his, and he won't fold under pressure or the blitz! He's the mechanical savvy G O A T of the game. Miggle's Mike Landsman, Tudor's Doug Strohm, and Bryan Nutt, we salute you! Imagine if we could get specifications to remake the molds that made the incredible high-quality player bases of Tudor Games electric football of the 60's or 70's that came from Tudor Games when they were located on Johnson Street in Brooklyn, New York. The LIEFL can't speak for anyone, but we think that is what metal gridiron ballers want for the game, to match the quality of that era, even if it costs more. Some may argue otherwise. That's the dream, to bring back the best high-quality performance bases like the ones' of the 60's and 70's, or close. Tudor has not satisfied that quality to that level yet. We have player bases 45 years-old that can still play and outperform many of the player bases of today by far. OJ Simpson's base is from the 70's, and man he can go still with no wear-and-tear in sight. Also, in terms of information, Bill O'C told me that, "We can't forget how Chris LeMay of the National Electric Football Game Museum has lifted the game worldwide either. Never in a million years could we have imagined where the hobby would be today if not for these men and others, who have made major contributions to the game." THIS WEEK IN THE LIEFL (WEEK #3) UNDEFEATED PACKERS HAND BEARS FIRST LOSS 24-21 IN AN ELECTRIFYING GAME IN OT! This week's LIEFL Game of the Week goes to the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers, two historic teams in an epic matchup, probably just like the rivalries in your leagues! The energy filled the air with premiere Coach Viggs undefeated Green Bay Packers (2-0) against Patty Brannigan’s unbeaten Chicago Bears (2-0). Four other coaches came to watch the game between two heated division rivals. The undefeated Chicago Bears came out on fire today! THE GAME: On the opening kickoff Coach Viggs had his Packers make a statement when Sterling Sharpe rung the Bell of Willie Gault, who was stopped at the 35-yard line! Chicago ran the football, but they were stopped on three plays until Coach Paddy Brannigan decided to go for the first down on Walter Payton on 4th down. That was a huge risk after a 10-yard loss. Payton exploded in an end-around 73-yards touchdown scamper into the end zone to give the Bears an electrifying lead, 7-0 with 7:42 remaining in a half! Incredible matchups are on the front line as we watch the Bears build rebuild! The Green Bay Packers came fighting right back but Sterling Sharpe was turned by his own man at their own 30-yard line. It only took the Packers two plays to get into the endzone on Terdell Middleton’s 11-yard run, and then Middleton exploded for a blazing 59-yard run around the right end and into the end zone to tie the game to end the half, 7-7! Chicago roared right back. LIEFL star Willie Gault flew downfield for a 42-yard kick-return and he was hit hard by Ray Nitschke. Walter Payton on first down blasted though the Packers tough defense for a 54-yard run, and then on second down from the 4-yard line Payton ran into the end zone to give the emerging Bears the lead, 14-7. Can Green Bay answer that? Ed Viggs, undefeated Packers showed their resilience just like the Bears after a 38-yard kick-return by Sterling Sharpe. Three plays later with runs of 7, 53, and finally a 3-yard touchdown run, the Packers tied the game with Terdell Middleton scoring his second touchdown run of the game, 14-14! Chicago’s Willie Gault ran back another beautiful 47-yard kick-return, and he was hit again by Sterling Sharpe at the 47-yard line. Sharpe made two big tackles in the game. It took the Bears just one play for Walter Payton to score his third touchdown of the game on an electrifying 53-yard run around the corner of Bears right tackle Steve McMichael with 2:27 remaining in the game!! The Bears regained the lead 21-14! Wow! This is Electric Football at its best between two fierce competitors in a historic division rivalry! My goodness! With just 45 seconds left to go in the game playmaker Sterling Sharpe (PHOTO ABOVE) broke Free down the right sideline for a 49-yard touchdown pass to tie the game 21-21, bringing the game into overtime! Sharpe is having a game! What an exciting classic! Coach Viggs put his fist up in the air watching Sharpe explode down the sideline and into the endzone. What a fantastic finish for Sterling Sharpe. In overtime Sharpe returned a speedy 67-yard kick return to set up a coach Viggs 33-yard field-goal and the Packers walk away undefeated, beating the Bears with the field-goal 24-21, in what will be the game of the week! Electrifying, literally! The Green Bay Packers defense was heavily tested with Walter Payton running for a record high 176-yards on seven touches, including three touchdowns, one of them a 60-yarder. Willie Gault played fantastically with three returns for 124 yards. And the News again is one of the hottest players in the league is Terdell Middleton who rushed the ball five times for 133 yards with two touchdowns, including a 59-yard TD scamper. The showstopper Sterling Sharpe exploded for 235 all-purpose yards on five touches, including a 49-yard touchdown catch handing the Chicago Bears their first loss! The Chicago Bears (2-1) will have to regroup fast because they play the high-octane Las Vegas Raiders (1-2) next week in Vegas. The Green Bay Packers are (14-4) in the past three seasons. Coach Ed Viggs has this team fired up! The Pack plays at Johnny-Freeport’s Detroit Lions next week against offense star Dexter Bussey who has 19 all-purpose touches for 691 yards with five touchdowns before their game at Minnesota this week. Four of Bussey’s touchdowns are 100-yarders! That game next week will be another classic and historic matchup between two fierce competitors and great LIEFL elite teams! RAIDERS SLAY JETS IN OT 27-21 AS BO JACKSON ARRIVES! The Raiders and Jets game turned out to be an LIEFL electric football classic as Las Vegas running back Bo Jackson exploded for 139-yards rushing with three touchdowns, giving Las Vegas their first win of the season as the league and competition heats up! JETS (1-1) VS. RAIDERS (0-2) ... PRE-GAME: This game was a tricky one between these two teams because we didn't know what to expect in the new season other than excellent coaching. The Jets picked up several player bases for their front line in the draft, which have paid off. Before the game, Jets Running back Le'Veon Bell was the #2 Rusher in the AFC with 14 touches for 280 yards, including five touchdowns! For Las Vegas, the Raiders also received several drafted player bases, but they've struggled in the trenches because of their size. For 67-Big Men, Las Vegas are a little undersized, but last week the Raiders rose to the occasion on the road against Buffalo losing 28-24, to a fierce Bills team in a terrific game against the top lethal offense in the league. OJ Simpson and Jay Brown for the Bills are in top form for Coach Billy O'C but it's likely that Coach Joe Bino, our alternate coach will take over Billy O'C's teams from here because O'C is working on the Yankees documentary and he can't find any time to play from this point on between his teaching and the doc. We'll miss him, but we will run the league as good, maybe better than him. Raiders six-time LIEFL All-Pro Dave Casper is on everyone's list in the league to try to stop. Casper had a breakout game against the Bills last week with 363 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, including a 100-yard kick return. When Casper gets hot, he's one of the most explosive and dangerous players in the league, but he's also very streaky. Before today's game, the burden of the Raiders offense has fallen on Casper's back because the running game has struggled. Las Vegas couldn't establish a rushing game in the two games that they've played this season. Running back Bo Jackson managed just 41-yards rushing against division rival Denver in the season opener, and he was silenced against the Bills defense last week. Coach Kevin Mac continues to work with the Raiders, who by the way won LIEFL Super Bowl XI in 2008 against the Giants in overtime in one of the most memorable games in our LIEFL history. Casper was the star MVP of that game running back 100-yard touchdown to start the game, and then another one to end the game in overtime beating the New York Giants, 27-21! New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell in the first two games has been explosive. In week one Bell rushed for 145 yards with three touchdowns against Dallas and last week against the Jaguars he ran for another 140-yards against the Jaguars. Who will rise to the level today? BACK TO THE GAME: It was an intense LIEFL game between the Jets and the Raiders. The Raiders came out swinging with Dave Casper running back 100-yard kick return to open the game making the score 7-0! Both lines in the trenches went to war! Las Vegas frontline led by Gene Upshaw battled hard against New York’s Winston Hill for the middle-game, cornered by Joe Klecko and Mark Gastineau on each end of the front three. It was Jets rising star Don Maynard for the Jets, who shocked the Raiders the most. Maynard has taken the AFC East by surprise with his past two performances and he's been on the rise in the league the past two games with his kick returns. Maynard revved up New York with his second 100-yard touchdown of the season on the Jets kickoff, tying the score at 7-7! Both Maynard and Wesley Walker have shared the duty of kick returning the ball, and Jets Coach Joey Pizz said he loves Maynard’s magic! Talk about the speed of the game. In this game, 48 points were scored in 30 minutes which is incredible. Coach Pizz said after the game, “If you can’t get an instinctual feel for a team in 10 or 15 minutes, you don’t know football. The game is moving hard and you don't need 50-plays to know a team, in my opinion. We have no set number of plays allowed in the league. For me, twenty to thirty combined plays in a game is good enough, except in the playoffs. Taking away pivots, resets, and being a one stop league for busy guys like me is awesome." The pressure to perform, set, and execute under the strain of the clock is intense. Bobby Biggs has won one game, but before the season he talked about this league as though we are nothing. Pizz said, "Booyah, like Johnny-Freeport, his mouth has been bigger than his game. I get tired of hearing these two guys brag about how great they are, and not back it up, but it's all part of the game. Look at Coach Viggs, he is the most low key talented coach I have ever seen, and I have played against hundreds of coaches. Viggs does all the talk he needs to do by playing solid-core electric football on the field, and he was a hell of an athlete. His teams seem to come alive and he is probably the one coach in the league that could play against anyone in the world. He is the master of preparation and a highly skilled Wall Street Guru and thinker. I am just an average coach who loves football." Coach Kevin Mac added, "We play more games in a shorter amount of time because of the regulation rules, and playing these fast-paced games gives a coach a nice look at how talented the teams and coaches are because in real-life we don't get game stops to turn players around, pivots, and countdowns to set. I played organized football my entire life as a fullback and linebacker, and I know talent when I see it. It doesn't take me 60 minutes to figure a team out. This is high quality electric football at its best. I study every team and coach before I play. It would be awesome if Billy O'C had 32 coaches in the league, but he wants to call it quits in 2025, and some of us don't know what we will do without a weekend of electric football in the winter. I don't see other leagues share their league status and stats like this league and it would be so cool to see others innovate the hobby. This league is so well organized, and we never say we are the best league, but we know we can compete.” On the next drive the Raiders offensive star Dave Casper shot right back and returned the 61-yard kick, and then one play later Bo Jackson arrived with a blazing 44-yard touchdown run to give Las Vegas the lead 14-7! Jackson got off to a slow start this season. He relies heavily on Otis Sistrunk, Lyle Alzado, and the big man in the middle, Gene Upshaw to give him that small hole he needs to get the job done. This is the first game this season that we saw the Raiders working on all cylinders. Pizz' Jets came right back with another explosive Don Maynard 100-yard touchdown run, his second of the game, to tie the score at 14-14! We have a game! Suddenly, the Raiders offense in back-to-back games are blowing up in the second half, torching defenses. Running back Bo Jackson scored again, this time from the 1-yard line with some nifty offensive line work by Las Vegas lineman Gene Upshaw, who opened up the inside game for Jackson, to put the game at 21-14, Raiders! Jackson rushed 48 times for 542 yards with 8 touchdowns in 2022, ranking 14th in the AFC last season in rushing. Finally, Jackson is doing his part in getting the balance between running, special teams, and receiving right for the silver and black. On New York's next drive, the Jets would refuse to fold under the pressure as Coach Joey Pizz connected with Don Maynard to tie the game at 21-21, putting the game into overtime. The Raiders won the coin toss in overtime and they wasted no time driving downfield after 46-yard kick return by Dave Casper. Two plays later Bo Jackson took his third touchdown of the game into the endzone on an end around cutting through the middle of the field for a 52-yard game-winning touchdown for the Raiders who beat the Jets 27-21, in 3:36 of overtime! What a lift for the Raiders and Coach Kevin Mac. Las Vegas (1-2) plays in a war next week against Paddy Brannigan's Chicago Bears highly touted defense, currently (2-0), in what will be a showdown in Vegas, and the Jets (1-2) play at home against the red-hot Buffalo Bills (2-1)! Those will be games to watch. EXCITING DOLPHINS STAY UNDEFEATED BEATING BROWNS IN OVERTIME 20-17! After the Miami Dolphins strange win last week over the Houston Texans 3-0, the Dolphins offense was mismatched by a roaring Texans defense after Houston Coach Levi Vick, mentored by Coach Ed Viggs made important adjustments. Houston was stomped in Week #1 by Billy O’C’s Colts 24-14. The game between Miami and Cleveland is a rematch of last year's AFC Wild Card Game won by the Dolphins, 38-34! This time around the game was on Cleveland's home turf and the Browns impressive defense has to come up big in order to keep this Browns team in the early look playoff hunt. A loss for Cleveland can be catastrophic because they play two out of three division rivals on the road, and they would be at risk of letting the season get away after making the 2022 playoffs. THE GAME: On the opening drive for Cleveland, two tremendous teams came out slugging with Browns running back Mike Pruitt carrying the football with some nifty running of 38-yards and 11-yards in the first half behind Jim Brown’s set-ups. But it was Pruitt's 5-yard touchdown run that gave the Browns an advantage until an electrifying runback by Miami's LIEFL All-Pro Mark Duper, who blazed into the end zone for a gorgeous 100-yard touchdown run to tie the score at 7-7! Duper continues to be an explosive player in the LIEFL. The battle in the trenches was on in a great matchup between Miami lineman and LIEFL All-Pro Jason Taylor of Miami and Browns Simon Fraser. On Cleveland's next possession they were forced to settle for a field goal. Miami's next possession forced the Dolphins to do the same thing, kicking a field goal to tie the score at 10-10! Miami running back Mercury Morris was shut down with four runs on 19-yards. Defenses have figure the Dolphins running game out it seems. Coach Kevin Mac had his Browns ready as LIEFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown (PHOTO ABOVE) ran back a super 100-yard touchdown return to give the Browns the lead, 17-10! And the other half of the Dolphins “Mark’s Brothers” Mark Clayton, dug into the game with a blazing 94-yard kick return with the place going wild! After driving down to the Cleveland seven-yard line, fullback Larry Csonka caught a seven-yard pop-pass from Billy OC to tie the game 17-17, sending the game into overtime in dramatic fashion with no time left. In an Unbelievable turn of events, Miami won the coin toss in overtime! Dolphins star Mark Duper returned the ball 37-yards on the overtime kick off. This was a war in the trenches in overtime as Miami roughed the ball all the way to the 42-yard line of Cleveland after three runs totaling 39-yards by Mercury Morris. Finally, Billy O’C was close enough for the field-goal and Miami kicked the field goal to win the game in 6:43 of overtime, 20-17! What a lift for Billy O’C and his Dolphins. The Dolphins remain undefeated at (3-0) and Miami plays Dallas next week in what should be a great game. The Browns (1-2) lost a heartbreaker at home which will be hard to come back from, but don't count them out. The Browns will have to dig deep down and hope for some luck that the other teams in the AFC North fall apart. Pittsburgh is on the rise, and the Ravens will compete hard for the division title! It was an even match up, but Miami took advantage of the overtime opportunity and Coach Billy OC mastered his way downfield against the very strong Cleveland Browns team. Week #3 is always an eye-opening week because we're almost halfway home in a seven-game season, which is moving rapidly. Wins are very important at this point in the season, but particularly now where it's a pivot point in the season and life in the LIEFL. GIANTS PLAY BIG BEATING EAGLES 14-7! EAGLES-GIANTS The Eagles and Giants are a historic division matchup and needless to say, an incredible exciting war! Giants Coach Joey Pizz took his Giants to the NFC Championship Game last year, falling short of a Super Bowl appearance for the third time in their history, losing to the 49ers, 51-44. Eagles Coach Matt Zoo-York has a high-powered offense that is streaky at best, but we never underestimate Philadelphia because they bring it each week. Zoo is certainly having the magical season he had in 2022 when he won a LIEFL Super Bowl title, plus $1800 dollars to boot! He played HUGE! THE GAME: After failing to score on their first drive the Eagles punted the ball on 4th down submitting to a revived Giants defense in Week #3 after New York lost to division rival Washington in Week #1, 17-6. Giants’ linebacker Lawrence Taylor (PHOTO ABOVE) made it known that he is leading Big-Blue’s D E F E N S E with two huge tackles on Philadelphia star running back Keith Byers. Last year's LIEFL Player of the Year Ahmad Bradshaw ran back a speedy 79-yard punt return to set up Giants running back Shaquon Barkley and the Giants running game. Barkley rushed for 107 yards with two touchdowns last week in New York’s huge win over the LA Rams, 21-17! There was a major battle in the trenches between New York and Philadelphia with both teams remaining scoreless at the half. The Giants got it going in the second half on five consecutive runs by Shaquon Barkley, until Barkley exploded for a 22-yard touchdown into the end zone to give the Giants the lead 7-0! Philadelphia struggled and was shaky on kick returns trying to find the right combination on the line to block for Harold Carmichael as the Eagles stormed back on a 35-yard kick return. But, on the first play from scrimmage, the Eagles impressed as running back Keith Byars plowed through the #4-hole 65-yards downfield blazing into the end zone to tie the score at 7-7! Wow! On the ensuing kickoff, the Giants special teams were on fire! Ahmad Bradshaw ran an electrifying 60-yard kick return, and he was hit hard by Eagles linebacker Bill Bergey at the Philadelphia 40-yard line. With time running out Bradshaw put the Giants ahead for good 14-7 on a seven-yard pass play to win the game! When two teams go all out and leave all the energy on the field, we have to wonder, like Toy Story, do they have a soul on the metal board, and how great is the imagination? The Giants are (2-1) and they face Reggie Bush and rookie coach Bobby Biggs New Orleans Saints next week! The Eagles are a tough team with some bad luck thus far, falling to (0-3). It will be very tough to come back with their backs against the wall, the Eagles will need a miracle. Philadelphia plays New England at home next week. Coach Billy O'C brought his Buffalo Bills team and their high-octane offense to make a statement against defending AFC East Champion New England Patriots and Coach Levi Vick. LIEFL All-Pro OJ Simpson and the “Electric Company” is on fire coming into this game against Levi Vick's Patriots who shocked everyone last year are in for a battle! BILLS DOMINATE AS THEY CRUSH PATRIOTS 24-17! Buffalo sensation Jay Brown continues to shock the league as he opened the game with a 98-yard kick return, just short of his 6th 100-yard touchdown return of the season. That's all OJ Simpson needed and the offensive line of the Bills who have been dominating, ran right through a notable Patriots front line. It took Simpson one play to run in a two-yard touchdown to give the Bills the lead 7-0. New England’s return man Rob Gronkowski returned to bustling 62-yard kick return on the Patriots opening kickoff, but after two failed runs and a failed pass play, New England had to settle for a field goal, making score 7-3, Buffalo in the lead. That offensive line of the Bills continued to impress on Buffalo’s next possession. After a hard earned 35-yard kick return by Jay Brown, OJ Simpson ran for 9, and 23 yards to close the half. Simpson then blasted through the right side of the Patriots defense for a powerful 28-yard touchdown run to give Buffalo the lead 14-3! The pace set by Buffalo is hard to match. The Patriots came rolling back with Rob Gronkowski’s an electrifying 100-yard kick return to make the score 14-10, and what a run by Gronk! Buffalo wasn't finished yet. After a 58-yard kick return by Jay Brown, it was OJ Simpson again who found his way into the end zone to make the score 21-10, Buffalo! The Bills offense serves as a reminder in the league what they are capable of. This is one of the highest scoring teams in the history of the Long Island Electric Football League. Who could forget how they lit up the scoreboard in last year’s playoffs playing till the death against Miami and Kansas City. In 2017, as a Wild Card team it was like winning the heavyweight championship of the world for them when they crushed the defending Super Bowl champion Detroit Lions 49-35 LIEFL Super Bowl XIII. OJ Simpson had 623 all-purpose yards in that game, earning LIEFL Super Bowl XIII MVP, in the best LIEFL Super Bowl performance ever! Simpson had a record seven touchdowns in the game! This season Billy OC picked up a few Linemen in the draft, and here we are competing for the AFC East! Unbelievable! New England Rob Gronkowski just returned his second consecutive 100-yard kick return of the game for a touchdown to make the score 21-17, Buffalo in the lead! What a play! Buffalo’s Jay Brown returned a speedy 50-yards return on the ensuing kickoff and OJ Simpson took charge from that point on with runs of 17 yards and 10 yards before Buffalo ran down the clock enough to save time for a field goal to win the game 24-17! The Bills are opening eyes around the league with their Sunday performance. Both of these teams will compete hard for the AFC title! What a great competitive game. OJ Simpson rushed for 131-yards, scoring three touchdowns on eight touches, and Jay Brown had four kick returns for 241-yards! New England’s Rob Gronkowski was the offense for the Patriots with three touches for 262-yards with two 100-yard touchdown returns! The Buffalo offense has produced an LIEFL league leading 90 points on offense, and with four games remaining in the regular season, the Bills are on a record-setting pace to crush the Giants 140 points record scored last sea son. Billy O’C said, “This might very well be a better team than the 2017 season, but everyone keeps improving with us. We look forward to the battle against the Jets next week and we will be ready.” Buffalo (2-1) have a date with the hot offense of the New York Jets (1-1) and Le'Veon Bell in New York next week while New England faces the winless Philadelphia Eagles (0-3) at Philly. WOODS AND BENGALS BEAT 49ERS 14-7 TO WIN FIRST GAME OF SEASON! The NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers (1-1) lost a heartbreaker to Dallas last week, but Coach Ed Viggs promises to return in their 2022 form when they made it all the way to the LIEFL Super Bowl XVII, losing to Kansas City. This year’s story is another issue. This game could be pivotal in how the 49ers land up in the talented NFC West. The Bengals are a rare opponent for Coach Ed Viggs 49ers against Johnny Freeport and Johnny has his Bengals rising with the resurgence of a terrific special teams game. It is always an exciting matchup because the talk from Johnny never stops. In the LIEFL the home team is responsible for cleaning the field thoroughly so that there is no lint or hair, or any strands or fiber left on the field. We are sure readers know that one small piece of fiber can mean the outcome of the game and that was the case today. For some reason players did not play to their potential. Coach Viggs repeatedly looked underneath his player bases when the ball carrier didn’t do their job, and Boom! What he found was tiny strands beneath Jerry Rice’s player base, which caused delays in the game. On several occasions Rice couldn't even get past the 50-yard line. This caused the stoppage in the game and Viggs demanded that the players bases be dipped in water again so that any sign of fiber was washed from their bases into the water. Rice has been streaky at best this season. Viggs has the right to ask Freeport to reclean the entire field. While it improved, the damage was done. After a few words exchanged the field was clean and the game resumed. And what a battle it turned out to be. The new player base bottom that Johnny Freeport earned in the draft for Icky Woods was the difference in the game for the Bengals. Woods rushed for a season high 139-yards in the game with two touchdowns. A combination of his speed and versatility was enough to carry Cincinnati to a 14-7 win over Viggs 49ers. Viggs said, “I usually adapt to everything, but the field issue diverted my attention from Woods and instead I made the mistake of focusing on my guys in the game. I was really shocked that Freeport ran the ball so much and while it was close on the line Woods was terrific getting around the outside today and that was the difference in the game. I ran out of time in the last 40 seconds I should have passed my way down field, but Ricky Watters was running so good consuming a lot of yards that I thought it would be no problem because it was over 3 minutes left in the game. I was wrong.” Rickey Watters finished the game with just four touches for 80-yards, with one touchdown, a 50-yarder! The news of the day though was the resurgence of Bengals running back Icky Woods who rushed ten times for 90-yards, with two touchdowns! Johnny Freeport said, “I knew I could beat Viggy. It’s the league that is fooled by him, not me. That goes for everybody, that if you step on my field, you're going to leave unhappy and to beat the 49ers is a great feeling because now that keeps this team in the playoff hunt. I'm disappointed in Collinsworth, but it is what it is and will be back next week.” Next week Johnny-Freeport’s Bengals (1-2), face divisional rival Cleveland (1-2) at home in a huge matchup! The 49ers (1-2) are at Baltimore to play the Ravens. Week #4 is a key week in the LIEFL. CHARGERS EDGE CHIEFS IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE 7-6! It wasn't a pretty game between Coach Ed Viggs Los Angeles Chargers and the defending LIEFL Super Bowl XVII Kansas City Chiefs, and in fact, the Kansas City offense struggled without the power and high-octane effort of Tyreek Hill. Viggs recovered fast from his 49er’s loss saying, “Hey, I have to focus on one team at a time, and my best chance to get to the Super Bowl for the third straight season I think, is through the Chargers. The Chiefs are always a big game, we win at home, they win at home, and I just have to deliver more punches than Zoo!” The Chargers star defensive LIEFL All-Pro lineman Earl Fason played exceptional against his rival Willie Lanier. LA switched it up and so did Coach Matt Zoo-York who is also struggling at (3-8). Success! Coach Viggs Chargers were able to shut down that powerful Kansas City offense and it seemed magical. On the opening kickoff LaDainian Tomlinson ran back of 57-yard kick return. Three plays later the Chargers put it up in the air and Viggs connected with Tomlinson, his go-to guy for a 47-yard touchdown pass to give LA the lead and that’s all the Chargers would need. It’s the second game in a row that last year’s Superstar and Super Bowl MVP along with Priest Holmes, Tyreek Hill, ran back a 39-yard tick return and that was the last we saw of him for the whole game. That's how dominant the Chargers were throughout the game. Earl Fason dominated the line against Buck Buchanan and Willie Lanier. Kansas City was held to two field goals in the Chiefs 7-6 loss, and their high-octane offense was held to just 132-yards total all-purpose yardage. Coach Viggs continues to figure out ways to win. LA held Kansas City running back Priest Holmes to just 60 rushing yards, but more important, LA stopped Tyreek Hill from scoring and setting up Holmes to carry the big damage for the Chiefs. Viggs said, “You shut down Holmes and Hill, you shut down the Chiefs. My guys did their job and we executed on offense and that’s the way to win in the fast-paced LIEFL. I haven’t even unleashed Lance Alsworth yet, but he’s coming!” Viggs continued in a rare talk. “This is a one-stop league and one-setup league. We waste not a second. I love the speed of the game. It forces me to think quick on my feet like I had to when I played on my high school team, said Viggs.” Viggs will prepare for another war with these Chargers as they take on the top dog in the division in Denver. At (1-2), the Chiefs are in trouble. They have a rough schedule ahead and they will really have to raise their game to make the playoffs this season. Kansas City will go to war at home against the red-hot Steelers and Lynn Swann, and Jerome Bettis “The Bus”, and then the Chiefs play at Chicago, the New York Jets, and finally, Kansas City plays the highly competitive Green Bay Packers and Coach Viggs again at home. SKINS BEAT COWBOYS TO STAY UNBEATEN 14-7! The division rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins is always exciting. Dallas Coach Levi Vick has his team revved up for this huge game. Vick will play against his new mentor Coach Ed Viggs so this game should be a great battle. Both teams are undefeated coming into the game and Dallas coming is coming off of a huge 10-7 victory against San Francisco, the 2022 NFC Champion. THE GAME: Cowboys LIEFL All-Pro Terrell Owens ran back of 41-yard kick return to open up the game against a tough Redskins defense, hit hard by tackle Mark May. Dallas put the ball in Emmitt Smith’s hands. Smith carried the ball four times for 57-yards and then Vick connected at the one-yard line to Tony Dorsett giving the Cowboys ahead, 7-0! The Redskins have been red hot, but never did they expect receiver Charlie Taylor to come up as big as he did today against that Dallas defense. Tony Green was very quiet in the game after a 40-yard kick return. Dallas stopped Tony Green and forced coach Viggs to pass. Viggs made a huge pass connecting with Charlie Taylor for 82-yards bringing the ball to the 2-yard line on third down. On the next play after Washington's first down on the pass to Taylor, it was Taylor again wide open in the end zone who caught a 12-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7! On the Cowboys ensuing kickoff in the second half Dallas played hard and marched downfield with a 57-yard kick return for Terrell Owens. Then Emmitt Smith ran for a 14-yard first down, but the clock was ticking, and the Redskins were pushing the clock to the limit. After stopping the Cowboys, Dallas was forced to kick a field goal which gave them the lead 10-7. It was Tony Green who came up big with a 60-yard kick return on Washington's next possession. Green ran for 11-yards on first down and with less than a minute to go in the game coach Viggs played the clock perfectly with a 29-yard pass connection to Charlie Taylor again who scored his second touchdown of the game giving Washington a dramatic on the road victory against their Nemesis the Dallas Cowboys, winning the game 14-10, and what a game it was! The Cowboys held Green to 111 all-purpose yards. With the New York Giants playing some rising electric football, it will be an epic finish in the NFC East this season. The Eagles have an excellent team, but their (0-3) record doesn’t represent their diversity on offense. For Washington, LaVar Arrington, Mark May and Dexter Manley anchored the defense. Arrington had three tackles and May had two, but Manley was key at Nose Tackle in stopping Emmitt Smith by causing lockups on the line for Arrington to use his speed and make tackles. Coach Viggs keeps getting better, and he does it quietly. Charlie Taylor came up huge today and was the star of the game! Taylor had three touches for 123 yards receiving with two touchdowns as the Skins remain undefeated! The Redskins will head to Seattle next week to face their biggest test of the season against Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch. Lynch’s Week#2 totals speak for itself with 14 touches for 562 all-purpose yards with five touchdowns ranking him #3 in the NFC! Dallas plays the undefeated Miami Dolphins (3-0) next week at Dallas. SEAHAWKS BEAT CARDINALS 17-14 FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON! Seahawks Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs came into this game wanting to prove to this league that he can compete at a high level. It's not his fault that he has lost a bunch of games. It is an undertaking to focus on one team at a time for Biggs in the same season because he hasn’t watched every LIEFL team, but he has studied stats and wins-losses. The rest is to rely on how each team performs on the field. To not know your competition and then find player bases in the draft that will help you to perform the way you need to perform in any League is a huge challenge. But Biggs is saving himself from embarrassment by not quitting. He should be given credit according to Billy OC. “I love Bobby Biggs. I think he's an awesome competitor and he will win a Super Bowl in this league I believe because he has the tenacity, and the drive to take his teams to the next level. Don't forget this is just his first year. Next year will be a whole different year for this guy because now he knows the teams and he's been writing notes after the game. I saw him doing it. He takes little notes.” The Seahawks are on the prowl at this point to go beyond a Wild Card Game. They are a lethal team who could propel their momentum throughout the playoffs. The Cardinals are no slouch. In fact, there isn’t a team in the league that can’t compete at a high level. Arizona is one of the best 0-2 teams in the league. Records can be deceiving depending on the competition in the league. One of their biggest issues for the Cardinals is the luck-of-the-draw, and they don't seem to be able to progress on offense or defense under pressure, but rather, they play catch up football. That is where Coach Kevin Mac has to improve. THE GAME: Seattle LIEFL All-Pro Marshawn Lynch ran the football back 53-yards on the opening drive and after several runs, the Seahawks and Coach Biggs connected with Joey Galloway on a 50-yard touchdown play into the end zone to give the Seahawks the lead 7-0! Arizona superstar Mel Gray set out today to help his team be competitive. Gray returned the ball 56-yards on the Cardinals opening kickoff. Arizona had a hard time running the football against this tough Seattle defense led by the Big Boy, lineman Cortez Kennedy. Cards running back OJ Anderson has been consistent this season. After three consecutive runs, Seattle's defense stepped up until Anderson scored on a 1-yard touchdown run Arizona's to tie the game at 7-7! It was time for Coach Biggs to capitalize. And as the second half started it was Marshawn Lynch who ran back a beautiful 60-yard kick return, setting up great field position for the Seahawks. Lynch went into BEAST MODE blasting through the Arizona defense 44-yards for the first down! On the next play it was Lynch again who ran in the Seahawks second touchdown of the game on a 24-yard run, 14-7 Seahawks! The Cardinals answered with a blazing Mel Gray 100-yard kick return to tie the game 14-14! What a run! On their final drive Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch returned a 39-yard kick return. The Cardinals defense stopped Seattle on several downs, and then the Seahawks decided to run a quarterback sneak for a 16-yard first down with time running out in the game. Seattle kicked the game-winning field goal to win the game 17-14! COLTS STAY UNBEATEN AS THE GET BY A TOUGH STEELERS TEAM IN OT 27-21! In another huge matchup, the rising high-powered defense and offense of the Steelers led by Lynn Swann and "The Bus" Jerome Bettis take on an undefeated Indianapolis Colts team who boast one of the best runners in the LIEFL, Joseph Addai. On the opening drive Joseph Addai took a 75-yard kick return to the 25-yard line of the Pittsburgh Steelers, nearly breaking free for the touchdown. Addai was full of electric blowing through the Steelers tough defense for 11-yards, but he was stopped on the next two runs. The Colts relied on receiver Raymond Berry who broke free on the right side of the field to score a 25-yard touchdown to give the Colts the lead, 7-0! Pittsburgh's Lynn Swann has been just electrifying this year as he opened the Steelers first drive with a hundred yard kick return into the end zone to tie the game at 7-7! On the ensuing kick off, Indianapolis' Joseph Addai returned another beautiful 74-yard return and two plays later Addai was in the end zone with a 26-yard touchdown run, 14-7 Indianapolis! It was another fast paced game in the LIEFL. Alternate Coach Joe Bino fills in for Billy OC who will miss many games while finishing B A T B O Y The Ray Negron Story. Bino is a fierce competitor who hates to lose so the Colts are in good hands. The first half came to a close with a beautiful 61-yard kick return by Lynn Swann and Swann continues to change the Steelers hopes for a playoff game in 2023. Pittsburgh started the Bus, Jerome Bettis who ran for a 10-yard first down on this next Steelers drive. On the next play Bettis pulled his way for a 28-yard touchdown to tie the game 14-14! Never test Joseph Addai. After running back at 32-yard kick return Indianapolis chewed up the clock on four straight runs of 15, 31, 13 and finally a 9-yard touchdown run by Addai his second of the game to make the score 21-14, with time running out. Lynn Swann is amazing he ran back at 39-yard kick return then on first down caught a 25 yard pass to bring the ball to the 35 yard line of the Colts we are on first down again, Lynn Swann broke Free from Joseph Addai for a 35-yard touchdown pass to tie this score 21-21, and put the game into overtime! What a game. It's going to be another heartbreaker and nail biter right to the finish! This is definitely not the same Steelers team we've seen the last two or three seasons. This team will fight you every second of the game till the end. It's going to be a dramatic one! The Colts won the overtime coin toss and they will receive the ball. It's hard, but somebody's got to lose and somebody must win. A flip of the coin was the difference in the game in 4:37 in overtime. Joseph Addai ran back a 38-yard kick return followed by an explosive 19-yard run, and then Addai bulled his way through the Steelers defense with a 25-yard run for another first down. On the next play, it was LIEFL All-Pro Joseph Addai again on the scamper, a 17-yard touchdown run into the end zone for Addai's third touchdown of the game as the Colts win in a heartbreaker, beating the Steelers 27-21, in overtime! Colts running back Joseph Addai finished the day with a whopping 16 touches for 385 all-purpose yards, with three touchdowns giving Addai eight touchdowns on the season with 886 all-purpose yards! Pittsburgh's Lynn Swann had five touches for 260 yards with two touchdowns, including a blazing 100-yard kick return for a touchdown! The Steelers have a huge game at Kansas City next week, and then Pittsburgh plays two consecutive home games against division rivals Cincinnati and Cleveland. The (3-0) Indianapolis Colts play the bruising Carolina Panthers next week at home. Then the Colts head to New England, then Baltimore before finishing the season finale against Tennessee. R.jfif

  6. LONG ISLAND ELECTRIC FOOTBALL LEAGUE WEEK #2 CONTINUED (Long Island Electric Football League, Long Island, NY). LIEFL Reflection: Before the Bengals-Broncos game, there was a lot of talk between Bengals Coach Johnny Freeport-Chucker and his best friend Paddy Brannigan. Brannigan's Denver Broncos (1-0) and LIEFL All-Pro Terrell Davis are a hard bargain to beat at home. The Broncos bring with them one of the most historic teams in the LIEFL with seven LIEFL Playoff appearances, four-time finalists, but no cigar at the end. Johnny-Freeport's Cincinnati Bengals (0-1), have to find a way to compete at a higher level. Johnny Freeport says not to worry about his team, just write the article he told Levi Vick. We remember when the Broncos first came into the league in 1977. That season a young coach Paddy Brannigan took his Denver team to the Conference Championship. At that time the 19-team league was structured differently. Denver was in the NFC, and they won the division. They beat the Raiders 20-17, in the first round of the playoffs, then lost to a tough Green Bay Packers team 14-10, in the Conference Championship Game, and Minnesota (13-1), was upset by Green Bay 14-2, that year, but something enlightening came out of their loss that season. As kids, the Broncos earned so much respect from the coaches by snapping a 66-game win streak of a dominant Miami team, beating Miami in a baseball score 8-5, with a huge argument ensuing between Billy O'C and Brannigan. Billy O'C was sore with that loss against his Dolphins, and it became a hot topic of discussion for a long time until O'C and Brannigan buried the war between the two teams! The Broncos had what seemed like a sure chance to win a Super Bowl. They are the only other team to go undefeated in a LIEFL regular season (14-0), when they won the division in 1983, but the Broncos were upset by Billy O'C's Buffalo Bills 28-27, in the AFC Divisional Championship Game. Paddy Brannigan went ballistic with the loss! This is why record keeping is so critical to our league. Our league is rooted in history. We had the savvy to keep pristine records, which are the constant focus of progress in the LIEFL. Fast forward to 2023, the Denver Broncos (108-68-1) are the LIEFL #3 Ranked Team of all-time, and they still have not won a Super Bowl in the league. Granted the competitiveness of the league with the Draft has drastically improved the league but we all cheered for Brannigan's Broncos when they made the playoffs for the first time in nearly 30 years, in 2020 for the first time since the 1991-92 season, when the Broncos went (9-5) losing to the Cleveland Browns 28-17, in the AFC Divisional Championship Game. The Draft changed everything because the entire league has been rebuilt into a highly competitive league. In 2020, Denver placed 2nd in the division. They lost in the AFC Wild Card Game 27-10 to Indianapolis, but they regained respect because of one man who carried the team, Terrell Davis. Davis was ranked #2 in all-purpose yards in 2022, with 67 touches for a impressive 1,708 yards with 10 touchdowns, including four 100-yard returns for touchdowns. In 2020, Davis was a beast as the #1 guy in all-purpose yards with 58 touches for a impressive 1,924 yards with 15 touchdowns, including eight 100-yard returns for touchdowns! Brannigan has the chance to do something special with the Broncos. BRONCOS STUFF A TOUGH BENGALS TEAM 21-17! On the opening kickoff Terrell Davis returned a spectacular 100-yard kick return to start the game with a touchdown, 7-0 Broncos with 14:44 remaining in the half! Johnny Freeport’s Bengals were held to a field goal on their first set of downs, 7-3, Denver took command to end the half. The Broncos drove four plays downfield after a 35-yard kick return by Terrell Davis. Davis had runs of 23, 38, and finally his second touchdown of the game from 4-yards out to make the score, 14-3 Broncos in the lead! Cincinnati stormed right back on a gorgeous Chris Collinsworth 100-yard kick return down the left sideline perfectly executed by Johnny Freeport, to make the score 14-10, Denver still in the lead with 14:33 remaining in the game. Collinsworth comes through again in the clutch for the Bengals! Johnny-Freeport decided to give Collinsworth the ball more because of the results he brought to the Cincinnati offense last week with his 100-yard kick return touchdown against Cleveland. There are other positive signs for the Bengals. Rookie defensive tackle Trey Hopkins made his fourth tackle of the season. The Bengals will be bringing back the Vintage seventies uniforms next season. Denver's turn again on the ensuing kickoff. Terrell Davis ran back another high velocity big run of 70-yards. Then Davis exploded for runs of 10 and 19 yards, until Cincinnati's defense kicked in to stop the Broncos on the next two attempts rushing. But on third down Broncos fullback Rob Lytle broke Free in the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown catch to make the score 21-10, Denver in the lead with just two-minutes left in the game. Cincinnati finished strong on a speedy 48-yard return by Chris Collinsworth who put on a show for the Bengals. The Bengals wasted no time Collinsworth caught a 34-yard pass, bringing the Bangles to the 13-yard line of Denver where Collinsworth again caught a great pass from Johnny Freeport for a 13-yard touchdown, and the Bengals just ran out of time losing to the Denver Broncos 21-17, in a stunner! Terrell Davis for the Broncos had 11 touches for 299 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns in the game. Chris Collinsworth had four touches for an explosive 195-yards with two touchdowns for Cincinnati! The Broncos face the Titans next week in a war and the Bengals have their first home game of the season against the LIEFL NFC Champion 49ers. CARDS SKINNED BY UNBEATEN VIGGS REDSKINS 17-14! The one team that had an impressive Week #1 is the Washington Redskins who beat the Giants 17-6, after losing three straight to New York in 2022. The Cardinals are a rising team who battles tough like the rest of the teams in the LIEFL, keeping their games close in see-saw battles. Redskins running back nd LIEFL All-Pro Tony Green the super back, started the game with an electrifying 100-yard kick return for the touchdown to put the Redskins ahead 7-0, with 14:42 remaining in the half. There was no quit in this tough Frontline of the Arizona Cardinals. It took them 10 plays to get into the end zone on a 3-yard run by OJ Anderson to tie the game 7-7, with 14:40 remaining in the game! Anderson knocked over his own man on the play. The Cardinals have one of the toughest schedules in the LIEFL. Arizona faces Seattle and the LA Rams away in Week 3 and 4, and then they play Dallas at home. Those teams have some bad hombres! On the ensuing kickoff it was Tony Green again in the spotlight who grabbed his third 100-yard touchdown run of the season with back-to-back 100-yard touchdown returns in the game for the Redskins! Coach Ed Viggs (6-1) has this team fine-tuned and ready to put the time to ready this team for a playoff run. Redskins in the lead 14-7, with 13:07 remaining in the game! The reliable Green has established himself as one of the greatest players in the LIEFL. There is no quit in Coach Kevin Mac's Arizona offense today. With 5:07 remaining in the game tailback Terry Metcalf took a beautiful pass 65-yards into the end zone to tie the game 14-14! In a great battle, Tony Green ran his final kick return back 48-yards and after one more run the Redskins kicked the game-winning field goal from 50-yards. Washington beats Arizona 17-14, in a tight game! Green finished the the game with a whopping 248 all purpose yards on just four touches, including the two 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns. Arizona's Terry Metcalf caught two passes for 96 yards, including a sweet 65-yard touchdown pass. COLTS GO (2-0) EDGE BROWNS IN GREAT MATCHUP 17-14! This was an impressive matchup between Billy OC's Indianapolis Colts (1-0) and Coach Kevin Mac's Cleveland Browns (1-0). LIEFL All-Pro sensation and big-play running back Joseph Addai, is of the best in the league. Addai can really burn a team. The speedster ran back a strong 50-yard opening kickoff return matched by a 50-yard touchdown run from scrimmage on the first play for Indianapolis, who took the lead 7-0, with 13:21 remaining in the half! Addai had 199 all-purpose yards last week against the Texans, so he's on the hunt for more as last year's AFC Offensive Player of the Year! On the ensuing kickoff for the Cleveland Browns, Jim Brown ran back a 50-yard return. The Cleveland Browns in eight plays bulled their way into the end zone on a 10-yard pass play to Mike Pruitt to tie the game at 7-7 as the first half came to a close. The battle was intense in this game, watching two very progressive LIEFL teams earning respect in the league to a respectable level. After a 75-yard kick return by Joseph Addai, the Colts wasted no time getting busy. Addai exploded on first down for a speedy 25-yard touchdown into the end zone to give the Colts the lead, 14-7 over the Browns with 13:22 remaining in the game! The Browns are in the house! They came storming right back after a 62-yard kick return by Jim Brown. It took Mike Pruitt two running plays of 10, and 38-yards to get into the end zone to tie the game at 14-14, with 10:15 remaining in the game. This was a brutal battle for Coach Kevin Mac. Billy O'C has his Colts moving and on the rise. They are looking to get back to the playoffs for the fifth time in their history! In 2020, Indianapolis made it all the way to the AFC Divisional Championship Game where they lost in a heart-breaker 30-22 to the LA Chargers. Billy O'C said, "I am not all about the statistics for Addai. This is a hard working Colts team. We have weapons too that I am ready to break out in Raymond Berry and Marvin Harrison, when we need them. I love the Browns too. They can play some hard-hitting electric football." The Colts are ranked #15 in the LIEFL at (77-94) all-time. The Browns are ranked #14 in the LIEFL at (80-77) all-time! On the Colts last possession with 2 minutes left, Indianapolis managed three plays and kicked a 20-yard field goal to win the game 17-14! Joseph Addai had seven carries for a bruising 98-rushing yards with two touchdowns, including an early 50-yard touchdown run. He finished the game with 10 total touches with 286 all-purpose yards! The Colts (2-0) play the Steelers then the Panthers at home in Week 3, and 4. The Browns (1-1) have a huge rematch of last year's AFC Wild Card Game against Miami in Cleveland! HISTORIC GAME BETWEEN STEELERS-SEAHAWKS ENDS WITH 31-28 VICTORY BY PITTSBURGH WITH LYNCH AND SWANN PUTTING ON A SHOW! Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs Seattle Seahawks (0-1) have been a cutting edge team for the past two or three seasons. Biggs inherited a team that just that needs direction. The Seahawks are the first team to pull off a major upset against the LA Rams who at the time were fighting for their third consecutive LIEFL Super Bowl title which looked evident in 2020, before the Rams met Seattle and lost 51-45 in OT in the NFC Wild Card Game! Seattle would go on to lose the war to Washington 24-22 in the NFC Divisional Championship Game. But, Seattle is on every coaches radar because they know running back Marshawn Lynch is a huge threat. The unpredictable Lynch finished as the #3 Rusher in the NFC last season with 42 touches for 629 yards with nine touchdowns. Playing a huge offensive lineman-type Paddy Brannigan and his Steelers (0-1) on their home turf poses its own problems. We often wonder how Brannigan sets up so fast with the size of his hands versus the size of the 67-Big Men. The Steelers should improve with the player bases they picked up in the LIEFL Draft. "The Bus" streaky Jerome Bettis and Lynn Swann carry Pittsburgh, period. Swann ranked #11th in all-purpose yards with 21 touches for 894 yards with four touchdowns in 2020, and Bettis was ranked #6 with 52 touches for 497-yards, with seven touchdowns. Brannigan is retired too so he has plenty of time to work with his hobby teams. It took us a while to get to this game because of people coming back from their vacations, but we committed to completing another exciting season and we are back to our regular flow of completing games so that we meet the LIEFL Super Bowl XVIII December deadline. The last time the Steelers touched the field was in their 21-14 loss to their division rivalry Ravens on August 24th, so Paddy Brannigan says he's been working with the team. "My team deserves a shot at the Super Bowl, but it's my job to get the best draft picks and know the talent of what is going to help this team compete in a money league playing at a high-level. I haven't quit on this team, and won't. We've won 92 games in this league and we have been to the playoffs eight times. Not a lot of teams in this league can say that. We have to find a way to win games because a seven game season gives us just a little bit of breathing room to win." The Steelers are chasing history in the LIEFL as the #6 Ranked team in the League at (92-77). They are just eight games from becoming only the fifth team in LIEFL history to win 100 games, but with this fierce competition it won't be easy to do considering 2025 will be the last season. An intense looking LIEFL rookie coach Bobby Biggs met up with Paddy Brannigan for a big game. Steelers Lynn Swann ran back a 40-yard kick return to open the game. Two plays later on a 55-yard run from Steelers running back Jerome Bettis around the right end, the Steelers took the lead 7-0, with 11:58 remaining in the half on a spectacular run by the Bus! The intensity stepped-up when Seattle returned the football. Marshawn Lynch had a 37-yard kick return, but on the Hawks first run from scrimmage, Lynch blew between the #1 and #2 hole of the Steelers defense for a 63-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7! But the Steelers came right back on an electrifying 100-yard touchdown run by Lynn Swann to put the Steelers in the lead 14-7, with 7:05 remaining in the half in a terrific game! Brannigan's Steelers came to play against rookie coach Bobby Biggs, and Biggs was sharp, and angry with that kick return. Biggs thought he had his men set up exactly where they needed to be, but the positioning proved wrong for Biggs and his Seahawks. There's a lot of pressure on Biggs to perform, especially when it comes to these Seahawks. The Seahawks might be Bigg's only chance for the playoffs so every single play counts. It was Marshawn Lynch who returned the football 47-yards this time. After two great runs for 16 total yards, Lynch exploded down the right sideline for a 37-yard touchdown run, and man he is dangerous. Seattle 14-Pittsburgh 14, with a minute left in the half! Holy cow! Lynn Swann ran back his second consecutive hundred yard touchdown run of the game to put the Steelers ahead 21-14! Branigan sure has worked with these Steelers! Marshawn Lynch did it again! Lynch went into "Beast-Mode" with a 65-yard kick return. Then one play later from scrimmage, Lynch exploded 35-yards for his third touchdown of the game to tie the game at 21-21, with 13:17 left in the game! Pittsburgh answered right back and took then steam out of the Seahawks momentarily as Lynn Swann returned his third 100-yard touchdown play of the game to put the Steelers up 28-21, with 12:04 remaining in the game! Oh Lord! The room got loud! Never in a million years would we have thought this game would have already scored 49 points! Bobby Biggs had such a surprise look on his face, like what next? The Steelers offense stunned! Swann is already at 348 yards in the game! Biggs said, "Unreal that this guy has three on me, three!" Biggs has Marshawn Lynch, and he is a weapon himself. Biggs loves Lynch and what he does as he watched Lynch return a 50-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff. Bobby Biggs has not been able to stop the special teams unit of the Steelers and you have to wonder why. He switched it up quite a bit, but to no avail. Nothing that his Seattle team did could stop Lynn Swann and Brannigan's special teams game. What an incredible game. The Seahawks offensive running game is intense. Marshawn Lynch ran 12-yards into the end zone for his fourth touchdown of the game, tying the game at 28-28! The Steelers cannot figure out how to stop Lynch with the clock ticking and 7:04 remaining in the game. What an incredible ending to the game. Lynn Swann made a key 25-yard first down play to bring these Steelers to the 40-yard line on the kick return. With just seconds left in the game the Steelers kick the field goal to win a dramatic 31-28, playoff like game against a roaring team in Seattle! It's hard to win on the road in this league and Seattle will go with their backs to the wall (0-2), but they have three straight home games. The Seahawks play some tough customers in Arizona, Washington, and Philadelphia. This is one of the best games the Steelers have ever played and they will be (1-1) on an electrifying performance by Lynn Swann. Swann finished the day with six touches and 418 all-purpose yards, with three touchdowns! Pittsburgh plays at a red-hot Colts turf next week and then they face the defending LIEFL Super Bowl XVII Champion Kansas City Chiefs. After 59 points scored, over 800 yards watched, and eight touchdowns later this game turned into an amazing historic game between the Steelers and the Seahawks. Marshawn Lynch rushed for a record 201-yards with four touchdowns becoming only the sixth player in LIEFL history in the 7-game season to rush for over 200-yards in a game. Lynn Swann had 413 yards with three 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns in an amazing game! Hats off to both of these coaches. TITANS BET A TOUGH RAVENS TEAM IN 17-14 BATTLE! As the season unravels it's hard not to be embedded in the integrity of the league and the power of performance that really has nothing to do with the coaches, but rather the execution of the plays that these plastic heroes make on the field. Its been a struggle for veteran coach Kevin Mac. Mac was winless before this game at (0-4). The Titans performed beautifully last year, and they will be challenged this year with their schedule. The Ravens had a come from behind the year with Coach Johnny-Freeport at the helm. He came into the game running his mouth as usual as one of the biggest trash-talkers both on and off the field, and in electric football he's best known as the dramatic-intimidator at best. We'll just see about that in this game. Apparently Johnny-Freeport's Ravens came to play. We have nothing against the Ravens. After an 62-yard kick return by Titans return man Brandon Jones, Baltimore stopped last year's Rookie of the Year Derrick Henry, on the first two runs. Then on third down Henry caught a pass but was way short of the first down, forcing a field goal from 43-yards to make the score 3-0 Tennessee in the lead! On Baltimore's first kick return of the game it was their star player Derek Mason running back 100- yard kick return for the touchdown to make the scores 7-3, Ravens! Wow! The Titans running game struggled against that Baltimore Ravens defense led by the "Goose" Tony Siragusa, who had his fourth tackle of the game! And after three failed runs the Titans put the ball in the air to Brandon Jones who glazed 40-yards downfield with the score 7-3, Tennessee over Baltimore with 9:42 remaining in the game. On the ensuing kickoff Derek Mason returned another explosive 100-yard touchdown return, his second of the game, after running to the middle of the field through traffic. Mason found a way to seep through for the score, 14-10 Ravens! The sixth time LIEFL All-Pro is having a game. Ravens take the lead with 9:18 remaining in the game! On Tennessee's next possession, the Titans showed their Titans form of last year with the front line earning their way to the Ravens 40-yard line on several runs by running back Derrick Henry. Finally, right tackle Dave Stewart opened a hole for Henry who dashed 40-yards into the end zone to make the score 17-14, and all of sudden events turn in the Titans favor with the lead, with 2:52 remaining in the game, and the clock is running! The Ravens just couldn't get it done. Baltimore had a weak kick return when Eddie George collided on a great play crushing Derek Mason at the Baltimore 35-yard and out of field-goal range. That play stopped the Ravens momentum from scoring and after an incomplete pass by Johnny Freeport, that crucial mistake gave the Titans and coach Kevin "Mac" Maloney a 17-14 victory, giving Mac his first win of the year! Tennessee beats the Ravens in a huge win! Sore loser Johnny-Freeport reacted with vulgarities and finger pointing calling Kevin Mack a cheat. COWBOYS-49ERS DEFENSIVE BATTLE ENDS WITH DALLAS 10-7! How much bigger rivalry can there be? Coach Ed Viggs takes his 49ers into hostile territory against Levi Vick's Dallas Cowboys. Viggs took these 49ers to the LIEFL Super Bowl XVII here the 49ers lost to a tough Kansas City Chiefs football team who had the momentum. But another great part of the story was that Viggs 49ers were (0-7) in 2020. The Dallas Cowboys played a great first week one game beating the Jets in overtime. Terrell Owens, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irving, and Tony Dorsett fuel the offense behind Larry Allen. On the Cowboys first possession on the kickoff Terrell Owens had a 62-yard kick return. After two runs Dallas decided to pass and Levi Vick connected on a pass to a wide open Tony Dorsett on 3rd down to score a touchdown a 35-yard touchdown for the Cowboys 7-0, with 8:04 remaining in the half! It seems coach Viggs put a play in that we've never seen before as the battle against these two teams defensively exploded. On Ricky Watters first three runs he gained only 5-Yards and even the past play on third down didn't work out for the 49ers and Coach Viggs decided to go for it. He used what he calls a cross run making an arrow with his three backs in the backfield, and the San Francisco backfield pushed Ricky Watters to the right side where San Francisco tackle, Harris Barton opened up the #4-hole, and the 49ers on 4th down completed a first down as the first half came to a close. Beautiful call by Viggs! The second half was a defensive battle with Dallas going back and forth making big plays on defense and killing the clock on coach Viggs. Jerry Rice finally came up big with a 15 yard touchdown reception to tie the game, 7-7, with the clock winding down. On Dallas possession the Cowboys on third down made a great pass play to Michael Irvin for 42-yards and enough to put the Cowboys in field goal range to win the game in a dramatic 10-7 win for the undefeated Dallas Cowboys! What a Week #2 in the LIEFL it was! Standings and Stats to come!
  7. So awesome and love the uniforms! Theylook like some intense teams
  8. FALCONS RIGGS RUNS INTO RECORD BOOKS WITH HIS 239-YARD FIVE TOUCHDOWN WILD PERFORMANCE IN OVERTIME OVER EAGLES 34-28! LIEFL Atlanta Falcons superstar (42) Gerald Riggs broke Keith Byars single game 7-game season rushing record with 239 yards with five touchdowns! The Falcons went on to beat the Eagles 34-28 in OT! Week #2 Summary by Kevin Mac, Paddy Brannigan, and Joey Pizz. Falcons 34-Eagles 28 (OT 5:25) (Long Island, NY) In trying to be more informative and helpful for new coaches, the Long Island Electric Football League is made up of professional, mostly retired organized people, which help us all to stay on the same page communicating. Several spent their careers in law enforcement (Thus the Nicknames), trades, business, and education. Keeping accurate and up-to-date running historic statistics and records is critical to our league, and it makes this league so much more fun. We use a program called "Be-Funky" to turn our photos into cartoons. Coaches set goals for their plastic players, and they strive for excellence in breaking those league historic records, and we play for money. We are huge fans of the National Electric Football Game Museum and Chris LeMay's innovative way to celebrate our beloved hobby. Being on the Board of Director's is beyond an honor. Electric Football has influenced millions from our Baby Boomer generation and it's important that we inspire our tradition to those who may not know about the game. Billy O'C said, "I tell my college students about the game and although I have just a year left before retiring, I plan on showing a demo of the game to capture the interest of our youth." A sidebar interesting tid-bit of information about the LIEFL. The past two LIEFL Super Bowls were played in Coquina Key, Florida at the home of a guy readers probably never heard of, Ray Negron, who is originally from the burning down South Bronx of the seventies. Negron was the New York Yankees Special Advisor to the late George M. Steinbrenner III, for nearly 40 years before the Boss’ death. Negron just celebrated his 50th year in Major League Baseball with the Yankees this year, and coach Billy O’C is also a documentary filmmaker who is doing a documentary on Negron’s life called Batboy “The Ray Negron Story”. O'Connell wrote, filmed, edited, did the voiceovers, and produced the entire documentary. And to be working side-by-side with Ray's friend, actor and Executive Producer, Chazz Palminteri, star of, "A Bronx Tale" it is an amazing experience for O'C. Billy O'C said, "I am not a Yankees fan, but I am a Ray Negron fan, who the world will soon be learning about through the doc. The New York State Assembly recently announced a Ray Negron Day for his work with the youth in so many crumbling communities. When Ray spoke at the United Nations for the third time, and was presented with another International Humanitarian Award, as an educator I was blown away, considering the life Ray comes from in his youth living in the inner city of the South Bronx, New York. with 14 people living in his house." Joe Bino, our alternate coach, will be playing lots of games for Billy O'C as a result of the documentary. LIEFL Coach Bobby Biggs said, "I mean come on' Ray is the guy who pushed Reggie Jackson from the dugout to take the curtain call after Reggie's three-home runs to win the World Series? Ray is like a made-man for one of the greatest Sports franchises on the planet, but when I learned that he had a similar life to mine, being abandoned by my father, I connected." https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2023/K679 Who knows, maybe we will make a few dollars to contribute to this game and hobby. Negron is a fan of the LIEFL through Billy O'C, who is doing his part to carry on the legacy of the game. The LIEFL will close it's doors in 2025. Negron said, “This is really a great game. It’s almost like the people who play this game have the magic to bring these figures to life in a ‘Toy-Story’ imaginative way. I can’t believe these guys still play the game and that there is a long network of kids, now men, who have transformed the game.” Billy O’C said, “Ray’s story is incredible, and it’s been three years in the making of this documentary on his life. We have big stars in the documentary and never before told stories that our baseball audiences will never forget. And here we are in this world of electric football, but also connected to baseball in a small and humble way.” Take a peek at the documentary trailer. Okay, back to football! After an exciting Week #1 in the Long Island Electric Football League this week opened with the Philadelphia Eagles against the hosting Atlanta Falcons, both (0-1). It seems every year something new can be pinpointed about the league. Like your leagues, this season the teams seem better, the scores are higher, the speed seems faster, the defenses have a greater presence, and the coaches’ skills seem more focused. What we do in our league because decaling new players every year would be a major undertaking, instead we put our best 11-men on the field picking the “Best-Ever or All-Time” type player roster from each team, making for an inclusive and popular, memorable team. So, if you see the old names in the lineup, they are the legends of the LIEFL gridiron. As for statistics and photos, each coach is responsible for submitting statistics and photos after their game to Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, Andrew Slawson. Slawson then puts it all together and Levi Vick posts it. It's top coach Matt Zoo-York against Johnny Freeport in this one. And boy it's a good thing the plastic Gerald Riggs backs up Johnny Freeport's talk because it was a record-setting day for the LIEFL Superstar back who would be a guaranteed major go-to star in any League. With the Steve Miller song "Space Cowboy" playing in the background it seemed to fit the mood of the day. Johnny is imposing. The retired homicide detective with ponytail, is 6’4 250 pounds of mouth. If there was any doubt about the Falcons and their return after playing a great game last week, losing a tough one 27-21, to the rising Chicago Bears, Gerald Riggs, the biggest back in the league, made it clear, he is shooting to break his own all-purpose yard record as the only player in the LIEFL to break 2,000 yards in a single 7-game season. In 2019, Riggs had a record-setting 78 touches for 2,339-yards with 21 touchdowns! It is the best season ever for any player in the seven-game season in the LIEFL. Coach Johnny Freeport, who coaches the Dirty birds said, “It’s nice to see these records, but my goal is to win a LIEFL Super Bowl with this team for Riggs.” Although the Falcons have been to the LIEFL Playoffs five times, in 2000, they were Western Division Champions, but they fell short in the NFC Wild Card Game losing to Dallas, 56-52 in the second highest scoring playoff game in the history of the LIEFL. THE GAME: Gerald Riggs opened the game with an incredible 100-yard kick return for a touchdown, 7-0 Atlanta! The Blockbusters are going off! Johnny Freeport yelled, "It's going to be a long day for you Zoo." Eagles kick returner Harold Carmichael showed signs of improvement running back a 54-yard kick return to open Philadelphia's first possession. Carmichael has been through several player bases in the past two seasons. Two plays later running back Keith Byars launched his way into the end zone with a 36-yard touchdown run to tie the game, 7-7! When Byars and Riggs get hot, watch out! Byars is a streaky player. In 2022, Byars finished as the #1 NFC running back, with 38 touches for 704-all-purpose yards with 11 touchdowns, including a 74 yard touchdown run! Atlanta turned on the heat after Gerald Riggs returned his second kick return to 39-yards on the kickoff. One play later Riggs broke free on the left side for a bustling 61-yard TD scamper with blazing speed, with 7:00 minutes to go in the half to put the Falcons ahead 14-7! On the next possession, Harold Carmichael ran the ball back 55-yards on the kick return to set up the Eagles and Keith Byars. In one play, Byars exploded for a 45-yard touchdown run right through the middle of the field to tie the game at 14-14, with 3:46 left in the half! The Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles were in beast mode! Someone is going to walk away a loser in a hard way in this one. Gerald Riggs returned the ball 42-yards on the kick return, and it only took Riggs one play to run 58-yards into the end zone for his third touchdown of the game to give the Falcons the lead 21-14, as the first half came to a close! There is a feel of greatness in the air! Both of these offensive machines are relentless. After Harold Carmichael's 41-yard kick return, Keith Byars had breakout runs of 10, 13, 29, and finally a 7-yard touchdown run into the end zone to tie the score at 21-21, with 8:31 left to go in the game! What a game! It will be tough to match the excitement of this game after watching Gerald Riggs score his fourth touchdown of the game to give Atlanta the lead 28-21, with 2:23 remaining in the game! It was Harold Carmichael who nearly broke free at the 30 for the 100-yard touchdown return, but Carmichael was turned by his own man for a 75-yard kick return. One play later with just 30 seconds remaining Eagles utility player Rudy Ford tied the game with a beautiful 25-yard touchdown catch for the Eagles who tied the game at 28-28! We are going into overtime! It’s anyone’s game! The Falcons had the luck of the draw, winning the overtime coin toss! Atlanta’s Gerald Riggs had a wide-open field, but he was turned at Atlanta's own 30-yard line on the kick return in overtime. That did not stop the superstar. Riggs turned it up running for 10, 12, 33, and 15 yards into the end zone in overtime running for his fifth touchdown of the game! Unbelievable! The Falcons walked away with this one 34-28, in a Week 2 tremendous victory! This was a career day for an already fantastic running back, and credit to the Eagles, another power team! Gerald Riggs was chasing Keith Byars single game rushing record in a 7-Game Season. Today, Riggs had nine rushes for 239-yards with four rushing touchdowns, setting a new LIEFL rushing record in the game, breaking Byars 2018 record of 224 yards. including a 61-yard-long touchdown. Riggs ran the ball back five times on kickoffs for 261-yards, including a sensational 100-yard kick return for a touchdown. Gerald Riggs had 14 touches for 500-yards with five touchdowns in the game! Keith Byars rushed for 150 yards on 7 carries, but he had three touchdowns including a 45-yard touchdown run. Harold Carmichael ran back the ball four times for 225 yards in the game! There was an amazing 62 points scored with 775 yards and nine touchdowns between the two teams! That's what we call an incredible matchup and a heartbreak for the Eagles who begin this season (0-2). PACK IS BACK WITH SECOND STRAIGHT WIN BEATING PANTHERS 24-21! These two teams are heavy rivals and with a pair of coaches who love to win in Packers coach Ed Viggs who won LIEFL Super Bowl VXI, and Matt Zoo-York winning LIEFL Super Bowl XVII, so anything can happen. To open the game, Green Bay star Sterling Sharpe had a beautiful 68-yard kick return. It only took two plays for a rejuvenated Terdell Middleton, who played great last week, to score on a 16-yard run to give the Packers the lead, 7-0. Middleton has 7,080 career all-purpose yards, with 59 touchdowns for Green Bay, but this is a new game, new vision, with Drafts, new player bases, and competitive coaching here in the northeast with our own competition just like other great leagues around the country. The Panthers wasted no time, tying the score on a 38-yard touchdown run by LIEFL All-Pro Deshaun Foster to tie the game 7-7! Foster is a beast! It was Green Bay's Terdell Middleton and Sterling Sharpe who were key on the next set of downs for the Packers. Sharpe set up the offense with great returns in the game, and Middleton exploded for runs of 42 yards, and then he had a 21-yard touchdown run right through the right side of the Panthers defense! The Packers took the lead 14-7, with the first half coming to a close! Panthers star kick returner and Big Man Greg Jones ran back a speedy 40-yard return. He was hit hard by Terdell Middleton. It only took three plays for Deshaun Foster to run his second touchdown into the end zone on an electrifying 41-yard run through right tackle, tying the game at 14-14! On the next set of downs Sterling Sharpe returned the kick 81-yards giving the Packers phenomenal field position. It was Terdell Middleton again who would get into the end zone from four yards with 3:45 remaining in the game with the Packers in the lead 21-14 in a great game! With time running out on the Carolina Panthers, in a miracle Greg Jones returned a hundred-yard kick to tie the game 21-21, with 2:16 left to go in the game in a nail biter! The pressure is on for Green Bay! On the ensuing kickoff Sterling Sharpe shined with an amazing run up the middle for 71-yards, but Sharpe was hit hard by LIEFL All-Pro lineman Kaa’wan Short with a little over a minute remaining in the game. The Packers delivered in Championship form. Green Bay had less than a minute to go in the game to pull off a run for four yards and then the Packers were forced to kick the field goal to win the game 24-21 in a stunner! The Packers and Panthers look super! Green Bay is (2-0) on the season and the Panthers played great at (1-1). These two will meet again! The story of the day was Packers Terdell Middleton's three touchdown runs for 118-yards, were electrifying, and his partner in crime Sterling Sharpe was a terrific setup man in the game with four kick returns for 257 yards in the win! DOLPHINS WIN 3-0 BATTLE AGAINST TEXANS AS OFFENSES GO GHOST! It is one of the strangest games we’ve seen in the LIEFL. After last week’s pouncing by the Indianapolis Colts 24-14, Houston Texans coach Levi Vick wasted no time in regaining control of his Texans and going into the more than 1,000 player bases sitting in the barrel who are free game in the league. With a player like Ron Dayne on offense it would be an injustice to not give Dayne the blocking he needs to succeed. Dayne is the one shining light that Houston has. Dayne performed hard last week against the tough Indianapolis Colts and their dominance over the Houston Texans. The Game: Miami began with a 52-yard kick return by Mark Duper. The Texans showed their resilience by shutting down Miami for the first time this season, and the first time in a long time for the Dolphins, on four consecutive plays, forcing the Dolphins to turn the ball over to the Texans at the 34-yard line of Miami. But even with star running back Ron Dayne, the Texans could not capitalize, and they missed the field-goal after being shut down themselves. With 3:04 remaining in the half the ball went back to the Dolphins. Lots of respect to that resilient Houston line. They stopped Miami again! In 15 minutes of football, for the first time this season, nobody scored. This was a battle of will between the Dolphins defense and the Texans defense who rose to the occasion. Texans lineman JJ Watt and tackle Mike Brisiel led the way. Brisiel had three tackles. He ran over both AJ Duhe and Manny Fernandez, two very respectable players. Players do stand out when there's no score, especially when they're making big plays. Ron Dayne and coach Levi Vick was totally stumped by the Dolphins defense. They were forced to pass twice for the first time this season. What a tough defensive battle with 12:13 left in the game and the ball belongs to the Dolphins. Houston showed Tremendous resilience. The defenses for both of these teams spoke as the game went on in the clock ticked, and with 4:52 remaining in the game there was still no score. On third down Mark Duper fell short of a first down and the Dolphins had a big decision to make because with the time left. Going for the first down on the run would be too risky for Miami, and Billy O'C's passing rate is shaky. If the Dolphins went for it on 4th down and didn't make it the Texans would get the ball back in Ron Dayne's hands and the Dolphins just couldn't risk that. Coach Billy O’C made the decision to kick the field goal, 3-0 Miami! When the Texans got the ball back Miami stopped them on a first down pass attempt by Levi Vick with seconds left in the game, and the Texans ran out of time and short of field goal range. I don't think this league has ever seen Ron Dayne held under 150 yards. Dayne had four touches for 37 all-purpose yards with zero touchdowns. Miami has a drought on offense. Dolphins running back Mercury Morris was no better. The speedy Morris had 10 touches for 30-yards with zero touchdowns. Even Duper only had 69 yards on two kick returns. Miami won 3-0! By the second game of the season coaches have to take a stand for their team like in any League. Since it's a seven-game season they have to rise to the occasion early to build the momentum. The best thing any team can do is win on the road. How could Houston get so beat up in Week #1 and then come back and play one of the best teams in the league and battle like this in Week #2 and told them to three points? That is how the Texans have to fight the rest of the season! It is a testament to good coaching and preparation. The Texans (0-2) are at New Orleans (0-1) in Week#3 and Miami goes to Cleveland (1-0) to face Jim Brown, Mike Pruitt, and a tough Browns defense in a rematch of last season's AFC Wild Card Game, which the Dolphins won 38-34! BUCS ARE FOR REAL BEATING STRUGGLING VIKINGS 10-3! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come in hot after a big win in Week #1 and the Vikings will be tough to beat on their home turf, but a win on the road for Tampa Bay would be a huge pivot for them in the competitive and steamy NFC South Division. The Game: On the opening kickoff Vikings star Adrian Peterson returned the ball 61- yards, but the Vikings couldn't move the football against the overbearing Buccaneers Frontline led by Leroy Selmon and Warren Sapp, who have been trouble for offensive opponents thus far. The Vikings were held to a field goal to give them the lead 3-0! Watch out! Bucs LIEFL All-Pro and last week’s star, Jimmie Giles, is on fire opening up the game just like he did last week with a stunning 100-yard kick return for a touchdown, carrying over on his 448-yard performance last week against the Lions in the Bucs 31-28 victory! 7-3 Bucs, with 7:34 to go in the half! It's hard to measure the heart of a plastic player! After a 52-yard kick return Adrian Peterson had runs of 5, 10, 3, and 7 yards to the Tampa Bay 22-yard line as the first half closed. That Buccaneers defense stormed through the Vikings front line with Minnesota losing 15-yards in the running game. Warren Sapp played like a beast! Tampa Bay stopped the Vikings again with the score still 7-3, Tampa Bay in the lead. On Tampa Bay's first possession after stopping and stuffing Minnesota, the Buccaneers drove 54 yards downfield on a Dave Moore catch to set up the final score of the game. Tampa Bay kicked a 33-yard field goal after losing 15 yards to the Vikings defense, ending the game 10 3 and the Buccaneers go 2-0! Tampa Bay goes back home to face the high-flying Falcons (1-1) in a war! Minnesota (0-2) put themselves in a poor position. The Vikings need work. They play the Lions at home next week facing a red-hot Dexter Bussey and coach Johnny Freeport. PATRIOTS BEAT ALMIGHTY CHARGERS IN STRATEGIC BATTLE 10-7! Beating coach Ed Viggs wouldn’t be easy, but it is possible. We knew from the start this would be a big game with the Eastern Division Champion New England Patriots playing the Western Division Champion Los Angeles Chargers. There is a lot to prove between these two teams. Transfer coach Levi Vick (2-3) handed coach Ed Viggs (5-1) his first loss 10-7, as the Patriots continue their winning streak at home during the regular season at six! It was a war between two elite teams and as usual in these big games it comes down to strategy. Vick killed the clock and kept the ball out of LaDainian Tomlinson’s hands. THE GAME: Patriots running back Laurence Maroney ran four times for 10, 11, and 5-yards, and then New England was slammed by that Chargers defense led by Los Angeles LIEFL defensive end Earl Faison. But on third down Randy Moss IS BOSS, broke Free for a 35-yard touchdown catch to give the Patriots the lead 7-0, with 6:29 remaining in the half! Moss has his second huge play of the season. Last week Moss broke free for a 63-yard touchdown catch against Miami. He's quickly becoming this year's LIEFL's star receiver. The Chargers wasted no time. 2022 leading LIEFL rusher, LA running back LaDainian Tomlinson returned the ball 45-yards on the kickoff. Two plays later Tomlinson revved the Chargers offensive engine with a 44-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7, with 2:27 remaining in the half! From that point on, it was an aggressive defensive battle. We noticed early on in Week #1 that so many teams have improved with the Draft last February. New England did a super job killing the clock with key first downs by Laurence Maroney. He had three first downs in a row which brought the Patriots to the 28-yard line where they kicked the game-winning field goal 10-7! Maroney finished the day rushing 11 times for 52 yards. New England’s defense held LaDainian Tomlinson to 55-yards rushing with one touchdown. Tomlinson only had 45-kick return yards, and 100 all-purpose yards for the day. Levi Vick said, “That’s the only way to beat Viggs and his teams … ball and clock control.” Viggs said, “Levi can play, and he is learning the importance of a solid running game and defense. I think I pass more than anyone in the league. The Patriots made key plays against us, but as the season gets into playoff mode, we will be ready.” Coaches in the league thought the Chargers would beat New England on the Patriots home turf. They forgot that this is the same team that beat Miami at Miami in the season finale to win the AFC Eastern Division title. And Miami beat Los Angeles in the playoffs. The Chargers (1-1) go home to play the defending Super Bowl XVII Champion Kansas City Chiefs in what will be a highly anticipated battle between Coach Matt Zoo-York and Ed Viggs. New England (1-1) faces Coach Billy O’C’s Bills at Buffalo to face the current top dog in the league Jay Brown, in what could be a huge divisional matchup! BEARS EDGE SAINTS 14-10 WITH GAULT’S 100 YARD PERFORMANCE! We're still waiting to unpackage Bobby Biggs coaching skills and the New Orleans Saints five new draft picks. They were put to the test in this game against Coach Paddy Brannigan’s Week #1 winning Chicago Bears and the explosiveness of Willie Gault. Biggs claims he had plenty of guys like that in his old League that he came over from, and we're happy to hear it because that means he's a competitor and he can be the judge of the competition. But not so fast. Biggs is not ready to give the LIEFL any credit yet. Rather Biggs (1-3), is in the hunt to unhinge the historic league by proving he can be a rookie Super Bowl Champion! LIEFL Commissioner Billy O’C said, “Nothing is impossible. Biggs is a great coach who is great for the league and the competition. The road to a championship most likely will go through coach Ed Viggs. We all want to beat Viggs.” THE GAME: The Chicago Bears stuffed Reggie Bush after his 52-yard kick return. The New Orleans offense was unsuccessful in four straight plays at midfield. When the Bears got the ball, running back Walter Payton exploded for a 47-yard run to the three-yard line of New Orleans. On the next play Payton ran in a 3-yard touchdown run to give the visiting Bears a 7-0 lead, with 2:19 left in the first half! Bobby Biggs rebuilt the Saints the way he wanted them. The offensive line showed promise at times powering their way through a gritty Bears defense. Chicago had the #1 defense in the NFC last year with 83 points allowed, and they were #2 in the LIEFL. The Saints were tied for 11th with Green Bay on offense. On the ensuing kickoff, Reggie Bush returned a 60-yard kick on the ensuing kickoff. Bush was just getting revved up and four plays later he ran a 27-yard touchdown to tie the score 7-7 with 9:42 remaining in the game! Willie Gault buzzed an electrifying kick back 70 yards and Gault was hit hard by Saints lineman Bruce Clark at the 30 yard-line. In the final minutes of the game there was lots of back and forth. Gault exploded for a 30-yard touchdown run after a nice pass by Paddy Brannigan, to put the Chicago Bears up 14-7! Bobby Biggs’ (1-3) last ditch effort to manage the clock seemed almost impossible. Biggs dropped another game, this time to the tough and gritty Chicago Bears (2-0), who put in a valiant effort. Chicago faces the undefeated Packers at home next week, and New Orleans must again fight for their season. They face the winless Texans at home next week. Bobby Biggs seemed very frustrated and would make no comment. BILLS ROMP RAIDERS IN WILD 28-24 WIN! The Buffalo Bills are coming off of a tremendous game against the Kansas City Chiefs which was the game of the week last week. The Chiefs may have won that game but in that game Buffalo's kick returner Jay Brown made his name known throughout the league last week with his 495 all-purpose yards and his four historic 100-yard touchdown returns. Coach Billy O'C expects more out of Brown in today's matchup. It didn't take long for the Bills to score in this wild offensive shootout with Las Vegas. THE GAME: Last Week’s LIEFL Player of the Week Jay Brown ran back a 48-yard kick return and was hit hard by Raider’s lineman Gene Upshaw. It only took one play, a 52-yard run into the end zone for OJ Simpson to give the Bills the lead 7-0, with 12:41 remaining in the half! Las Vegas star Dave Casper ran back a 94-yard kick return for the Raiders to open the Raiders first drive. The Buffalo defense stopped the Raiders on three straight plays undoing Casper's Good return. It's evident the Raiders had issues on offense for coach Kevin Mac. The Raiders running game has been stuffed two straight games. Bo Jackson had 41-yards rushing against Denver last week, and this week he carried the ball two times, but Jackson was unsuccessful gaining a single yard. They had to settle for a field goal with 6:31 remaining in the half, 7-3 Buffalo! Wow! Buffalo's Jay Brown ran back an electrifying 100-yard kick return for a touchdown, Brown’s fifth 100-yard kick return of the season with Dave Casper running right next to him, to put the Bills ahead 14-3 with 5:28 remaining in the half. The Buffalo offense is on fire! The Raiders wasted no time. Dave Casper ran back a 60-yard return and Marcel Darius made an incredible open field tackle saving the Bills from a certain 100-yard return. Running back Mark van Egan got open on first down for a 40-yard touchdown for the Raiders, 14-10 Buffalo, with 1:27 remaining in the half! Jay Brown ran another speedy 43-yard return to set up the Buffalo offense. OJ Simpson ran for a first down and then one play after that Simpson exploded for a 47-yard touchdown into the end zone! The Bills put the AFC on notice, Watch out! Simpson already has 108 yards rushing in the game with 12:59 remaining! Unbelievable! The Raiders special team unit does it again with Dave Casper running back his first hundred-yard kick return of the season to make the score 21-17 Buffalo, with 11:42 remaining in the game. That's the Raiders we're used to! The Buffalo Bills offense is relentless. After a short kick return by Jay Brown, Bo Jackson made a great play for Las Vegas, and the Bills were held to 26 yards on the play. That didn't stop OJ Simpson who drove 76 yards downfield in five running plays into the end zone for his third touchdown of the game to make the score 28-17 Buffalo had the lead with 2:44 remaining in the game, and what a game it's been! Coach Billy O'C has these Bills in playoff form! The Raiders used their time wisely after a 62-yard kick return by Dave Casper. Casper then on the next play quarter 38-yard touchdown pass with time running out. Buffalo walks away with the victory in a great game 28-24, and the Raiders turned it around in the second half to keep it close! OJ Simpson rushed for 183-yards with three touchdowns and Jay Brown added 217 yards on kick returns and 100-yard return. OJ had 194 yards rushing against Dallas on November 6, 2019, adding this one to the record books of the LIEFL best rushers in a 7-Game Season. Dave Casper exploded on the Buffalo defense with six touches and 363-yards with two touchdowns, including 100-yard kick return for a touchdown! When Casper gets hot, the Raiders streak! The Jets are at Las Vegas next week in Week #3, and the Patriots face Buffalo at Buffalo in a huge match up! GIANTS OFFENSE MATCHES RAMS IN EXPLOSIVE 21-17 WIN! After Coach Pizz Week #1 loss to Washington 17-6, Pizz had to regroup with his Giants so that they don't let the season get away. Anything can happen in what is beginning to become a very intense league much earlier than we expected. On the opening kickoff Giants LIEFL All-Pro Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, Ahmad Bradshaw returned the ball 60 yards. New York need Bradshaw at his best! The Giants earned every yard from there with running back Saquon Barkley running for 4, 31, and 4-yards into the end zone, Giants 7-0 with 10:14 remaining in the half! The Giants defense stepped up huge against the Rams after the Reverend Isaac Bruce returned the 76-yard kick return. The Giants defense came alive and stomped down the Rams offense, forcing them to kick a field goal 7-3, Giants in the lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Ahmad Bradshaw ran back an electrifying 100-yard kick return, his first of the new season, to give the Giants the lead 14-3, with 2:08 remaining in the half! The Giants came to play today against Billy OC's Rams. After a speedy 39-yard return by Isaac Bruce for Los Angeles, Rams running back Wendell Tyler exploded for a 61-yard touchdown run up the middle, making the score 14-10 Giants, with 14:20 remaining in the game! Tyler ran a spectacular run. Is the Giants center vulnerable? We’ll find out. On the Giants next possession, Ahmad Bradshaw returned the ball 32-yards. Four plays later, on runs of 4, 20, and 44-yards, it was Shaquon Barkley getting into the end zone celebrating Barkley's second touchdown of the game to make the score 21-10 Giants, with 7:41 remaining in the game! The Rams never gave up. They finished the game with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Eric Dickerson with the Rams losing in a close one 21-17! When the Giants have Bradshaw involved in the game they win. Bradshaw had 192 yards on kick returns, plus a 100-yard touchdown run. To perform at the same level as he did last season might be too much to ask, but Pizz is confident that Bradshaw will remain consistent. Barkley rushed for 107-yards with two touchdowns, including a 44-yard touchdown run. For the Rams Wendell Tyler had six touches for 105 yards and a 61-yard touchdown run. Isaac Bruce was his consistent self with 166 yards on three kick returns! GRITTY JETS BEAT A TOUGH JAGUARS TEAM 17-14! The Jets played a great game last week against Dallas. Their offense was explosive. Coach Joey Pizz said that he needs a win, and he need to get into a rhythm like he did last week with his Jets. Running back Le'Veon Bell had 145-yards rushing with three touchdowns against a premiere Dallas defense. THE GAME: On the Jets first possession Jets kick returner Wesley Walker returned the kick 53-yards to set up Le'Veon Bell. Bell and the Jets offense continues to impress as Bell ran a 47-yard touchdown run on his second try against a swarming Jaguars defense, 7-0 Jets with 11:55 remaining in the half! It didn't take long for Jacksonville's LIEFL All-Pro Freddie Taylor to get back at the Jets. Taylor busted out for a 68-yard kick return and then he had runs of 6, 25, and a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7! On the ensuing kickoff Wesley Walker ran back at 37-yard run. Then he came up huge on 3rd down for a 47-yard pass reception to bring the ball to the Jacksonville 32-yard line. One play later, Le'Veon Bell exploded for his second touchdown of the game from 32-yards with 10:53 remaining in the game! Both teams are very impressive! Jaguars Freddie Taylor answered with a terrific 100-yard kick return to a wide open left side of the Jets defense to tie the score 14-14 with 9:20 left to go in the game! The Jets used Don Maynard again like they did in Week #1 when Maynard ran back a 100-yard touchdown against Dallas. This time Maynard was clobbered after running the ball back 38 yards by Jacksonville lineman Abry Jones. The Jets earn their way to the 2 yard line but could not score on the run. They kicked a field goal 17-14, and the Jaguars had one last run by Freddy Taylor for 47- yards but it wasn't enough, the Jets win their first game at home 17-14 over a fierce Jaguar defense. LIONS BEAT CHIEFS 23-17 IN OVERTIME AS BUSSEY SHINES WITH 323 YARDS! When we saw this game on the schedule, we knew that this was a showdown game between the defending LIEFL Super Bowl XVII Champion Kansas City Chiefs on the road against Dexter Bussey and the Detroit Lions. But not so fast in who's better on the metal gridiron. That's coach Matt Zoo York for the Chiefs and the mouth of the league Johnny Freeport with his beloved Lions who definitely have improved their defense. Tyreek Hill is right up there with the best of them in this league and the Chiefs will not be intimidated by the Lions. In fact, the Chiefs defense is ready. THE GAME: On the opening kickoff, Lions star Dexter Bussey ran back a 61-yard kick return followed by runs of 10, 16, 1 yard, and then Bussey had a 14-yard touchdown pass to give Detroit the lead 7-0, with 6:25 remaining in the half. Kansas City wasted no time, with Tyreek Hill blazing a 50-yard run to set up running back Priest Holmes and the Chiefs offense. In one play, Holmes ran a 50-yard touchdown breaking through the left side of the Chiefs defense behind Detroit tackle Lomas Brown, into the end zone to tie the game 7-7 with 602 remaining in half. On an unbelievable kickoff return for the Lions, Dexter Bussey buzzed down field for an amazing 100-run for the touchdown to give Detroit the lead, 14-7. Kansas City came right back. Tyreek Hill returning the ball 35-yards and five plays later Tight end Tony Gonzalez caught a terrific 51-yard pass for a touchdown to tie the score at 14-14, with 11:07 remaining in an intense game! Dexter Bussey ran back a 51-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff. On first down Bussey ran a gritty 20-yard first down, and the Lions are coming for the Chiefs. Detroit couldn't get it done on offense. The Chief answered the call to toughen their grip defensively, and they forced the Lions to kick a field goal after falling short of the first down. Detroit took the lead, 17-14. The Chiefs came charging downfield, but Tyreek Hill was destroyed in the backfield by Priest Holmes, returning the ball 22 yards. On the next play it was Tony Gonzalez again, who exploded for a 68-yard first down to the seven-yard line where the Chiefs kick the field goal to tie the game at 17-17! We are going into overtime with the Lions winning the coin toss! In overtime, Dexter Bussey ran for a 35-yard kick return on his final kick off of the game. Bussey then ran off tackle Lomas Brown for 15-yards after being stopped on two runs. Johnny Freeport then threw a bomb to Herman Moore who caught a 50-yard touchdown pass in 3:33 of overtime to give Detroit the victory 23-17, over the Almighty Kansas City Chiefs! What a game! Johnny Freeport was running his mouth and wouldn't stop. "You better watch out Zoo, Chucker is winning this year's Super Bowl. You are overrated," said Johnny Freeport. There was no response from Matt Zoo-York. Lions superstar and LIEFL All-Pro Dexter Bussey, who is one of the greatest backs in the history of the LIEFL, finished the game with 13 touches for 323 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, including a 100-yard kick return! Bussey is hot! That's his second straight 300-yard game, giving him 19 touches for 691 all-purpose yards with five touchdowns, including four 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns this season. With two LIEFL Super Bowl's to Detroit's credit, Bussey has 11,163 career all-purpose yards with 78 touchdowns before the season started. Detroit heads to Minnesota next week to face the (0-2) Vikings in a huge division game for both teams. Historically slow starters, coaches are baffled with the Vikings play. After making it to the NFC Divisional Game last season, they have had a rough start this year. Kansas City played great against these Lions and they just didn't have the luck-of-the-draw. Chiefs Tight end Tony Gonzalez had a Big day catching two passes for 119 yards with one touchdown. Kansas City plays a huge divisional game at their rivalry Los Angeles Chargers (1-1)! FOR PURPOSES OF SPACE AND READING WE WILL CONTINUE WITH THE REMAINING SIX GAMES IN WEEK 1 DURING THE WEEK AS WE FINISH.

  14. CHIEFS BEAT BILLS IN GAME OF THE WEEK 38-35! RECORDS SET BY BUFFALO'S JAY BROWN WITH FOUR 100-YARD TOUCHDOWNS! Buffalo's Jay Brown set a LIEFL super record with his four 100-yard touchdowns for touchdowns in the Game of the Week! What a game it was against the defending Super Bowl XVII Kansas City Chiefs who won the game 38-35 in a high-octane game! Week #1 Summary by Levi Vick and Joey Pizz. Coach Ed Viggs won his 400th! We made a pact to play until 2025! The Long Island Electric Football 67-Big Man League kicked off its exciting 2023 seventh consecutive seven-game season after ten years of 14-game seasons. We have some touchy coaches who have a hard time accepting when they lose, just as they did as athletes, so it makes for a more exciting season when people with the same passion play for money. Coach Billy O’C said, “It’s just a game. This year's payout will again be $3,200 dollars to our Super Bowl finalists. That may increase through our sponsor.” This season it will take us two weeks to finish one week of play with two games scheduled per night leaving one day where we play three games. Some weeks will go faster as the schedule frees up for everyone. This year's games are being played at Johnny Freeport and Patty Branigan's who have made two stadiums. We alternate back and forth where we play. This league has 10 game boards, but this year we will use two, possibly three. The league expects to reach new heights this season with amazing competition and a proven track record through its annual draft, which keeps teams at peak performance ability. The LIEFL saw 26 fiercely competitive teams up until the final week of the season in 2022, so we are ready to rumble. The two top coaches last season were Matt Zoo York who took his Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs all the way with a 47-37 victory over defending Super Bowl Champion coach Ed Viggs who rallied his high-powered San Francisco 49ers into Super Bowl XVII after Viggs 49ers went winless in 2020 with San Francisco. Rookie coach Bobby Biggs will be under the microscope just like third year coach Levi Vick was when he first entered the league. Biggs may learn that he will have his hands full as an outsider coming into the fast-paced competitive league with rules to adapt to. We don’t do other leagues rules. We do what works for us. The coaches in the LIEFL all played organized sports, so we in this league, like most leagues developed combined best practices and rules suitable for our league several years ago. Each week the league will provide game-by-game summaries, standings, and league leaders in rushing, kick returns, all-purpose yards, and receiving yards for all of our 32 teams. In addition, cool photos will be transformed in the spirit of the league and coaches. Also, feel free to check out the history of our league. We play all of our games in scheduled order and will feature the Game of the Week first. Chiefs 38-Bills 35 LIEFL GAME OF THE WEEK! In the game of the week, it was a huge rematch between Buffalo and Kansas City, which lived up to its billing becoming one of the best games in the history of the league! Right from the outset the vibe was explosive! What a way to do it on the opening day for both teams. Repeating a Super Bowl is a huge challenge, but what we can expect from the Chiefs is to fight hard every game and the same for the Bills. Both have won a Super Bowl in this league, and both are powerhouse offenses with cutting edge coaches, but the edge has to go to Coach Matt Zoo York, the South Bronx Native in this one. What an opening kickoff. Tyreek Hill blazed 73-yards to the Buffalo 27-yard line on the opening kickoff. It only took one play for LIEFL All-Pro and Super Bowl XVII MVP Priest Holmes to rumble 27-yards into the end zone, 7-0 Chiefs! Statement made and a continuation of the AFC Divisional Championship Game that saw the Chiefs Beat Buffalo 56-52, to advance to the AFC Championship Game last season. Buffalo wasn't having it as third year kick returner Jay Brown ran back a blazing 100-yard touchdown to tie the score at 7-7, with 11:38 left to go in a half and the fireworks began! The Chiefs and Bills came to play, and they fell right into the groove! In this one the coaches were on their feet as Super Bowl XVII co-MVP Tyreek Hill, and not to be outdone by Brown. Hill returned the favor to Buffalo with his own 100-yard electrifying touchdown to put the Chiefs up 14-7, with 10:09 left to go in the half! It's going to be a big year for both of these highly elite and competitive teams right down to the finish line. No way! Do we have a game? Jay Brown did it again running back his second consecutive 100-yard kick return for a touchdown! Game tied,14-14, with 8:31 left to go in a half! Wow! It is hard to explain the excitement in the room. Long Island Electric Football League Superstar Tyreek Hill ran back a 57-yard return on the ensuing kickoff followed by another huge run by Priest Holmes for his second touchdown of the game as Holmes scampered around the left side of the Bills defense for a 43-yard touchdown run to put the Chiefs up 21-14! This is a game! The Bills made a statement of their own to begin the season, that they wouldn’t be intimidated by anyone in the league. Buffalo fired right back at Kansas City as Bills return man Jay Brown hit the record books with his third straight 100-yard kick return for a touchdown to tie the score at 21-21 in an incredible game! Brown, another great Draft pick, separated himself from the pack with a sensational run. He had just 6 touches for 345 yards with two touchdowns in 2022. Billy O’C went wild with Brown’s runback watching him make a name for himself in the early season! The league has been put on notice! It was evident that there would be no stopping either of these teams as Priest Holmes answered for Kansas City with his third touchdown of the game behind that enormous Kansas City front line led by LIEFL All-Pro Willie Lanier to make the score 28-21, with 1:14 left to go in the wild half! On the Bills next kick return, He almost did it again! Jay Brown ran back a 95-yard play and three plays later, Bills running back OJ Simpson topped it off with a 4-yard run to tie the game 28-28! Weapons are being launched for these two teams, and you can almost sense an AFC Championship Game feeling between the two, but the mountain to get there is tall! When two teams go 100% and leave it all on the table, it opens eyes. Priest Holmes rushed for his fourth touchdown run after Tyreek Hill ran back a 37-yarder. These guys have become premiere players. The Chiefs pressed forward to make the score 35-28! What a battle! Magic is in the air. On the next kick return Jay Brown set a new LIEFL record with his fourth 100-yard kick return for a touchdown in the game, tying the game at 35-35! What an explosive run with 6:33 left to go in the game in one of the best ever! The excitement is incredible on an amazing run cut up the left side of the field to through weak side of the Kansas City defense. The record for all-purpose yardage in an LIEFL game in the regular season, in a 30-minute game was set by Miami’s Mercury Morris in 1978 when he had 530 total yards against Atlanta in a Miami 42-14 romp! Most coaches in the league never thought somebody would or could break that record, but Jay Brown came so close. He would fall just short of breaking a 45-year-old LIEFL record! He finished the game with a whopping 495-yards! Brown needed just one more runback for the record, but it didn’t happen. On the Chiefs last drive after a 39-yard return by Tyreek Hill, Kansas City took that chance away from Brown. Three runs by Priest Holmes for the Chiefs sealed the deal as they ran out the clock, finishing with a 37-yard field goal to win the game 38-35 in what will be the game of the week and one of the greatest LIEFL games ever played. Even though Jay Brown didn't break the record in his blockbuster performance, he had four 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns and then a 95- yard return setting a new record in the league. That’s two amazing games between this hot contested matchup. And that's not all. Priest Holmes exploded for AFC record breaking 211 yards rushing with four touchdowns on 10 touches, surpassing Miami’s Mercury Morris’ 200-yard game against the Patriots last season! There were 73 points scored in the game. Between the two teams there was 1,065 yards and 10 touchdowns on 22 touches miraculously in a 30-minute game! What is their destiny and who can match these two teams in the AFC? The Bills (0-1) are at home against the Raiders (0-1) and the Chiefs (1-0) are at the Lions. Ravens 21-Steelers 14 The opening game for Week #1 in the LIEFL against the revived Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens rivalry was intense on the path to Long Island Electric Football's Super Bowl XVIII in the kickoff game! This week #1 took longer than usual with people out of town as the summer comes to a close. But, we will speed up the season after this. The Ravens knocked the Steelers out of the playoff run in the last week of the 2022 season, but Baltimore showed promise in the countdown. Baltimore started the game with fireworks on an 88-yard kick return by LIEFL five-time All-Pro Derek Mason who finished the 2022 season 10th in AFC All-Purpose yards with 22 touches for 1,052 yards with one touchdown, 100 yards. Mason's return was followed by a 12-yard touchdown scamper by Baltimore running back Jamal Lewis who put Baltimore ahead, 7-0. Ravens coach Johnny Freeport began his trash talking from the outset. "Looks like it's going to be another long year for you and the rest of the League this year especially in this division, my Ravens are going all the way in the division" he bragged to coach Paddy Brannigan. Johnny also complained that the loser of the Super Bowl shouldn't receive a penny. The money should go all to the winner, he argued, wasting time. The Steelers rallied right back with a Lynn Swann 66-yard opening kick return followed by a Steelers 34-yard touchdown run by the "Bus" Jerome Bettis. With all the changes that the Steelers have made in the draft, they have to put it all together and become cohesive. On the Ravens next possession, it was Jamal Lewis again taking a 37-yard pass into the end zone to put the Ravens ahead, 14-7. Lewis ranked 9th in AFC for Baltimore in rushing last season, with 39 touches for 487 yards with eight touchdowns. Pittsburgh came storming back with their own 37-yard touchdown catch by Lynn Swann to tie the game at 14-14. Swann came on strong at the end of last season finishing 11th in AFC all-purpose yards with 21 touches for 894 yards with four touchdowns. With 38 seconds left to go in the game coach Johnny Freeport Chucker screamed every yard of the way as Derek Mason sealed the deal with a crushing 100-yard kick return for Baltimore as the Ravens won the opener 21-14 in this division battle! Just what Chucker needed to ignite him. Pittsburgh coach Paddy Brannigan walked off in complete disgust. Redskins 17-Giants 6 The NFC East featured this high-powered division matchup with the Giants beating the Redskins three times last season. Big Blue LED the league in offense in 2022. Starting the season on the road is always a huge challenge because the home team gets the ball first in 30-minute regular season games with playoffs 60 minutes, but the teams that are great in the league have to be able to win on the road. Coach Joey Pizz did a phenomenal job getting New York to the NFC Championship Game last season. But the Redskins have made big changes this season and plan to be spoilers to the NFC East. Surprise! On the opening kickoff coach Viggs and his Washington Redskins scored an electrifying 100-yard kick return trumped by LIEFL All-Pro Tony Green who sliced and diced through the Giants defense ... blazing through the middle of the field in 14 seconds to give the Redskins lead, 7-0! Don't forget, Green was the #2 All-Purpose player in the LIEFL NFC in 2022, with 67 touches for 1,538 yards including nine touchdowns, two of them were 100-yard kick returns! Green finished 9th in 2022 NFC rushing with 44 touches for 379 yards with seven touchdowns for Washington. On the Giants first possession last year's offensive player of the year and last week's Hall of Fame Game MVP, Ahmad Bradshaw, who finished #4 in All-Purpose Yards with 21 touches for 1,457 yards with seven touchdowns, six were 100-yard kick returns, but Bradshaw was the #1 Kick-Return leader in the league with 17 touches for 1,379 yards with six 100-yard touchdown returns. Bradshaw took the opening return 72 yards, and four plays later the Giants were shut down by a much-improved hard-hitting Redskins defense who held New York to a field goal, score 7-3, Washington while chewing up the clock in a fast-paced game! On the Redskins second drive it was all Tony Green again who muscled through the Giants defenders, returning the ball 30 yards on the kick return. After a big gain, and yard first down, two plays later Green exploded 60-yards into the end zone to put the Redskins ahead, 14-3. Wow! The Redskins picked up four player bases in the draft and coach Viggs' choices are paying dues. This team will compete hard this year for their coach. The number one Giants offense of last season was stopped on their next drive and held to another field goal to make the score 14-6, Washington. Coach Viggs Redskins came to play! On the Redskins last possession field and were running out of time so they settled for a field goal to win the game 17-6, in dominant fashion and for this week they Schooled the New York Giants shutting down both Bradshaw and Barkley. Is there a new sheriff in town? Coach Pizz said, "I was in shock that we couldn't get anything going, not even the pass. We looked great against Miami in the Hall of Fame Game, so we have to go back to the drawing board and not let this season get away because it's only a seven-game season." Viggs said, "Pizz is a great coach, but I've been working with these Redskins, and after losing three in a row to the Giants last season, I was determined to get it right. We got the slingshot ready to pick everybody off who stands in our way. This is a hard-working football team and Tony Green is underrated. Behind this front line this season we should do well with what we got in the draft." Elite coach, Ed Viggs won his 400th electric football game in the league! Viggs has been a staple in the league with his sportsmanship and play calling. In high school the now Wall Street Guru Viggs played for the two-time Rutgers Cup Champion at Bay Shore High School, where he also played lacrosse. In 1976, Viggs Merged Leagues with Billy O’C and Matt-Zoo Four-Time LIEFL Champion. His proven track record as a competitor is awesome. 1984 LIEFL SUPER BOWL VII CHAMPION! Washington Redskins beat Miami 34-31 in (OT)! 2018 LIEFL SUPER BOWL XIV CHAMPION LA Rams beat LA Chargers 31-28! Viggs played with Billy O’C’s Rams and Beat Billy O’C again in 2019 when in LIEFL SUPER BOWL XV, the LA Rams beat the Miami Dolphins 44-41 in (OT)! 2020 LIEFL SUPER BOWL XVI Green Bay Packers beat Miami 52-49! Played many tournaments in Nashville TN. Lost Super Bowl XVII Chiefs 44- 49ers 37! Washington looked fabulous! Never underestimate coach Viggs. It's week 1, but the Redskins will be a contender winning their 110th game in the Long Island Electric Football League. Congratulations to Viggs! Anyone who can shut down the #1 offense in the 2022 New York Giants will open the eyes of other coaches in the league. It won’t get any easier with the tough schedules they have. The Giants are home against the hot LA Rams (1-0) and Washington plays Arizona in Washington. Browns 17-Bengals 14 Johnny Freeport and last year's Super Bowl champion Matt Zoo York faced off in a tough division rivalry. Johnny Freeport started the trash-talk the minute he put his Bengals on the field. "This guy never should have won a Super Bowl in this league because he's just an average coach, and it's time to unleash the beast and win some early going football games here," Johnny said. Matt answered, "We'll see about that and don't forget I beat you guys in the last game of the season." Game on! Zoo's Cleveland Browns came out fighting on their first possession, but so did the Cincinnati Bengals in a fight for the division this season. The battle on the front line was real between the two teams with the slight edge going back and forth to each of them. Cincinnati was left with a sour taste in their mouth to end the 2022 season when the Browns beat them 10-0, knocking Cincy out of the playoffs in the final game of the season. It took the Browns four plays to get in the end zone after a 71-yard kick return by LIEFL All-Pro Jim Brown followed by three plays, one of them a 43-yard touchdown reception by Brown to put the Browns ahead 7-0! Big things are expected from the Browns who earned one of the top draft picks at linebacker in Tae Davis. The Bengals kept Davis contained and he was no threat in this game. Cincinnati impressed after a 48-yard kick return by last year's team return leader Chad Ocho- Cinco Johnson. It was all forward motion for Cincinnati. After a fast four yard run and then a 15-yard run, Cincinnati running back Icky Woods broke Free for a blistering 33-yard touchdown scamper to tie the game at 7-7! With 2:45 to go and a half the Browns got the ball back. Running back Jim Brown set fire to the offense after a 61-yard kick return. One play later Brown took the ball into the end zone on a 39-yard explosive run to put the Browns ahead 14-7, with 14 seconds left to go in a half! Wow! On the next kick return Cincinnati answered as return specialist this season Chris Collinsworth, returned a stunning hundred-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14-14, with 14:11 to go in the game! These Bengals this year have a different look than last season with a powerhouse Frontline and a revived running game. This year's draft picks have been impressive thus far. The Browns drove down field in six plays chewing up the yardage and the clock, forced with 14 seconds to go in the game to kick a field goal from 37 yards to win the game in dramatic fashion 17-14! Johnny Freeport Chucker ran his mouth, saying, "Zoo is in for a rude awakening when we play in a few weeks against each other again." Matt Zoo York walked away with the win against the most disliked coach in the league, making no comment. Cleveland's Jim Brown finished the game with six impressive touches and 254 yards with two touchdowns as the Browns started the fire in the AFC North. Jim Brown will never die as a legend in The Long Island Electric Football League because he is a big part of Long Island sports history. In real life, Brown attended Manhasset high School here on Long Island in Nassau County. Brown earned 13 letters playing football, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, and running track. Dolphins 17- Patriots 14 In a highly anticipated game New England finished strong in 2022. The Dolphins impressed also with their third straight AFC championship appearance, but can they change their course of direction this season and win It all? An exciting and electrifying opening kickoff Mark Super-Duper took the kick return 100 yards into the end zone to put Miami ahead 7-0. Rob Gronkowski returned the ball for the Patriots 46 yards followed by two failed runs out but then on third down with 10 men on the field for Miami, Randy Moss took a 63-yard pass Play into the end zone to tie the game at 7-7! The Dolphins came storming right back with a Mark Duper 44-yard kick return. Miami Running back Mercury Morris ran for 13-yards and then it was stopped by a tough Patriots defense. But on the second play Morris ran a 43-yard touchdown scamper right through the left side of the field to give the Dolphins the lead 14-7, with one minute and 30 seconds left to go in a half! The Patriots game storming back with the Gronkowski 43-yard return. The Patriots battled and were forced to pass on third down when The All-Pro Gronkowski took a 53-yard reception to the 5-yard line of Miami. One play later Laurence Mulroney ran in a 5-yard touchdown play to tie the score at 14-14, with 8:14 remaining in the game! What an exciting division rivalry between coaches Levi Vic and Billy OC. It was Mark Duper running the ball back 44-yards on the kick return on the ensuing play. Mercury Morris then had five runs of 12 yards 7 yd 4 yd and he was stopped twice at the 43-yard line with the Dolphins running out of time, forced to kick the game winning field goal to beat the Patriots,17-14! Miami strikes first this time and New England looks strong. Cowboys 34- Jets 28 (OT) In what would become a sensational game between two excellent coaches, Levi Vick’s Cowboys are back in force! These two teams don't often meet so to watch them play a historic game with more than 60 points scored and 904 yards with eight touchdowns in the game, that qualifies this amazing game as a historic game which will go into our record books. Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith exploded for 193 yards rushing, with 15 touches and three touchdowns making that the best performance since 2020, when Los Angeles Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 197 yards against Kansas City. Smith runs behind an enormous front line led by Larry Allen. The New York Jets picked up a couple of draft picks and Dallas replaced Harvey Martin's player base. The Cowboys had a freak (2-5) season last year after earning a playoff berth in 2021. But it appears the Cowboys are back! Both of these teams came with some serious intensity. Wesley Walker returned a 51-yard kick to open the game and it only took the Jets one play, a 49-yard run by an emerging LeVeon Bell to give the New York a 7-0, lead. Coach Levi Vick's Cowboys were armed and ready as star kick returner Terrell Owens brought it back 48-yards on the kick return. Three plays later it was Emmitt Smith's smart running through the left side of the Jets to tie the score at 7-7, with 7:06 remaining in the half! The next kickoff was returned by Jets return Man Wesley Walker for 55 yards. One play later Le'Veon Bell exploded again, this time for 45 yards into the end zone to put the Jets ahead 14-7, with 4:22 left to go in the half. Bell and Smith are putting on a show! It took Dallas five plays to tie the score 14-14 with Emmitt Smith running in his second touchdown of the game and the Jets just could not stop this offensive line. Instead of collapsing under pressure Wesley Walker returned a very nice 49-yard return on the ensuing kickoff. One play later, it was Le'Veon Bell again with a 51-yard electrifying touchdown for the Jets to give them the lead 21-14, with 7:30 left to go in the game! Coach Joey Pizz and his Jets fought for every yard! Unbelievable! After a 38-yard return by Terrell Owens, it was Emmitt Smith who ran two times for 17 yards and then he escaped around the right side of the Jets defense for an explosive 45-yard touchdown run to tie the score at 21-21, with 3:10 left to go in the game! The Jets decided to give the ball to the reliable Don Maynard who ran back an explosive 100-yard kick return for the touchdown to put the Jets ahead 28-21, with 2:12 remaining in the game and what a game it is with both coaches erupting in week 1 action! Cowboys Terrell Owens returned the ball 62 yards to give Dallas great field position. One play later Owens starred again with a 38-yard touchdown catch to tie the game 28-28, sending the game into overtime! Wow! The Cowboys won the coin toss in overtime, and it was once again, Terrell Owens who got the football. Whoever loses this game will be a terrible heartbreak, but what a week one matchup. Nobody expected this game to be this close. We thought Dallas would overpower the Jets. After an 82-yard kick return by Terrell Owens the Cowboys and Emmitt Smith fought their way down field to set Dallas up with game-winning field position, but the Jets refused to back down. It's an unwritten League rule to never quit on your team no matter what, obviously. The Cowboys came up huge and upset the Jets in 9:34 of overtime 34-28 in a stunner as Michael Irvin took in the game winning touchdown from 8 yards away on a rocket by Troy Aikman, giving Dallas the victory on the road. Coach Vick clenched his fist together and Coach Pizz shook his hand and walked off dejected! Every game is a war with the competitive teams in this league! For New York, Le'Veon Bell ran for a career high 145-yards with three touchdowns for the Jets, Wesley Walker had 155-yards in kick returns, Don Maynard had a hundred yard touchdown return, and for the Cowboys Emmitt Smith bullied his way on the gridiron for an amazing 193 yards with three touchdowns going into the Long Island Electric football league history books, and All Pro return specialist for the Cowboys Terrell Owens, stole the show, with 303 all-purpose yards! So far, one of the best games of the season is making this a historic game! Broncos 17-Raiders 3 Last season when these two teams met the fireworks went off early. There are several players between the two teams who have star status. Dave Casper is a seven-time All Pro and one-time Super Bowl MVP. Denver's Terrell Davis has been on the rise for the last three seasons as one of the leaders in all-purpose yards and kick return yards and the Long Island Electric football league. Davis has finished in the top five each season and this year the Broncos hope to get back into the playoffs after making their first playoff appearance and more than 30 years back in 2020. On the opening kickoff Denver running back Terrell Davis earned 41-yards. And seven plays later the Broncos scored on an end around to Davis from 12-yards, 7-0 Denver in the lead, with 5 minutes left to go in the half. The Raiders Dave Casper returned Las Vegas first kick for 46-yards as the half closed. Bo Jackson was held to zero yards on his first two carries and the Denver defense delivered big. Las Vegas struggled to run the ball on offense. The Denver defense stopped the Raiders on 4th down and handed the ball back over to the dangerous Terrell Davis who in two plays ran 45-yards into the end zone to make the score 14-0, Denver in the lead! Opposing teams can't make mistakes against the fierce running attack of Terrell Davis. It's going to cost them every time. Lots of frustration for the Raiders coach Paddy Brannigan. The three draft picks that Las Vegas earned, and this year's draft are a bust with 10:14 left to go in the game. The Raiders drove to the 23-yard line, but they couldn't score a touchdown. Las Vegas killed the clock, but they just couldn't muster up an offense to get into the end zone. Denver took full advantage and unleashed Terrell Davis who masterfully returned the football 76 yards on their last kick return of the game after the Raiders kicked a field goal. Denver also ran out of time kicking their own field goal to win the game 17-3, in a very impressive first outing for the Broncos. The Raiders have to regroup for Coach Brannigan. The undersized 67 Big-Men of the Las Vegas Raiders have a challenge ahead of them. Jaguars 17-Titans 14 Rookie coach Bobby Biggs came with an attitude against Kevin Mac’s 2022 playoff Titans. Biggs was victorious in his first ever Long Island Electric football game! For the first game in the LIEFL Biggs did outstanding taking the Jaguars into 6:02 in OT! It took Bobby Biggs Jacksonville Jaguars just five plays to get in the end zone on a 57-yard pass reception for a touchdown by Jags receiver Alan Hurns to make the score 7-0, Jags. The Titans brought back their power from last year when they made their playoff run. This was a tough back and forth battle. Titans second year running back and last year's rookie of the Year Derrick Henry, is one of those pesky running backs and a challenge for a coach in Biggs, who knows nothing about him. Biggs was totally shocked at 4:57 remaining in the half when he saw Henry run a 58-yard and around down the sideline into the end zone, tying the game at 7-7 with Biggs yelling “No, it can’t be, how on earth …” But Biggs quickly recovered and focused. Biggs Jaguars showed resilience. Jacksonville never quit and neither did their much-improved defense. After a 64-yard kick return by Freddie Taylor the Jaguars were shut down and had to turn the ball back over to the Titans offense. Tennessee could not get the ball going either, and they were stopped dead in their tracks and forced to punt the ball back to Jacksonville with the score tied 7-7, with 6:40 remaining in the game. On the punt return Taylor exploded for 82-yards to the Titans 18-yard line. On the next play Taylor scored on an 18-yard scamper, 14-7, Jaguars in the lead again. After a 57-yard kick return by Tennessee’s Brandon Jones, the Titan came storming back with a Jones 22-yard touchdown catch to tie the game at 14-14, sending the game into OT! The Jaguars and coach Bobby Biggs won the coin-toss and Freddie Taylor ran back an electrifying 70-yard kick return to set up the game winning field goal, beating the 2022 South Division Champion Tennessee Titans 17-14! Rams 14-Eagles 7 The fireworks started early in this one with the Rams coach Billy O’C’s Reverend Isaac Bruce opening the game with an electrifying hundred-yard kick return for a touchdown 7-0 Rams with 14:44 to go in the half. With that high powered offense of the Eagles the real question is are the Rams ready to return to another Super Bowl. It won’t be easy putting a stop to Keith Byars, but very early on the LA defensive Fab-Five held Byars to one yard rushing in the first half. The Eagles could not score even after an 80-yard kick return by Harold Carmichael. Los Angeles drove the football behind the fabulous-five of Chris Long, Jackie Slater, Rosey Grier, Merlin Olsen, and Deacon Jones, and tailback Wendell Tyler led the way rushing and he teamed with Ricky Proehl for a 42-yard touchdown pass to put the Rams up, 14-0. The Rams are back in order! The Eagles would come back but too late on a 45-yard touchdown catch by Irving Fryer who blazed into the end zone. Coach Billy O’C and his Rams walked away with the victory against the tough Philadelphia Eagles! 49ers 14-Seahawks 7 In a highly anticipated game between Coach Ed Viggs and rookie Coach Bobby Biggs, surprisingly Biggs was not talking, rather he was focusing on the gameplay and studying coach Viggs. The two have never played against each other. Biggs doesn’t want to be called rookie coach at all, but in this league any first-year coach in the league is considered a rookie coach. That doesn’t mean we disrespect Biggs at all. He’s a beast who knows this game well! Coach Viggs took his 49ers to Super Bowl XVII last season losing to Kansas City 47-37, but he is known as the master of the big game. Coach Biggs is in uncharted waters, but by now he's practiced with the Seahawks enough to realize that after studying all of last year’s statistics, this is an impressive team that can play with anybody in the league. It's not always all about the guys out there, it's about the coaching. Jerry Rice was uneventful in his season return after a spectacular 2022 season. Rice was held to 90 yards in the game. It took San Francisco nine plays to score touchdown on an 8-yard touchdown pass to Dwight Clark, 7-0, 49ers in the lead! Bobby Biggs and LIEFL All-Pro Marshawn Lynch match perfectly. Lynch was ranked #3 in all-purpose yards in the NFC in 2022, with 61 touches for 1,475 yards and 13 Touchdowns, including two 100-yard kick returns for Touchdowns. He is a tough unfazed back who ran back the first kick 53-yards and was smashed by Roger Craig to close the half! The defenses of both teams limited the offense, but the 49ers had a slight edge. It didn't take the Seahawks long to score, just three plays on a pass to Marshawn Lynch who broke free into the open field for a 59-yard touchdown to tie the game 7-7, with 12:43 remaining in the game! The 49ers finished with 19 plays in the game driving downfield to the 12-yard line with the game on the line on 4th down where Viggs connected with Roger Craig to seal the deal for San Francisco, 14-7! Coach Biggs seemed dejected but shook Viggs hand. The feeling is these two may be meeting in some big games this season. 49ers Running Back Rickey Watters finished the day as the workhorse with 14 touches for 98 yards rushing, and Marshawn Lynch finished as the leader of the game with 162 all-purpose yards, and a 59-yard touchdown reception for Seattle. In Week #2, San Francisco (1-0) hosts the Dallas Cowboys (1-0) in a huge game, and Seattle (0-1) travels to Pittsburgh (0-1). Panthers 14 Cardinals 13 Somehow this Panthers 2022 team missed a memo in the first round of the NFC Wild Card Game when they were upset by the rising Minnesota Vikings 31-24! That doesn’t sit well with coach Matt Zoo-York. Zoo is all game today in this matchup against coach Kevin Mac and his Cardinals. This was a tough game going into it, but the Cardinals shined after a 39-yard kick returned by LIEFL All-Pro Mel Gray. Arizona running back OJ Anderson ran for 12, 18, and 9 yards after finally being stopped and pushed back for a 10-yard loss on second down by the Panthers defense. It was Gray who struck first on third down catching a 36-yard pass connection to make the score, Cardinals 7-0, with 7:07 left to go in the half! The Panthers impressed as usual on offense with DeShaun Foster #2 in 2022, with 48 touches for a whopping 639 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns, including a 72-yard touchdown run, leading the way for Carolina. After settling for a field goal to make the score 10-7 Arizona, the Cardinals came up with a huge play on special teams stopping Panthers return man Greg Jones for a 30-yard return. But one play later it was Foster who shook up the Cardinals defense with an explosive end-around on the right side of the field, 70-yards downfield to give the Panthers the edge 14-10, with 3:02 left in the game on a spectacular electrifying run. Foster’s run is the longest from scrimmage in week #1. The Cardinals ran out of time, but they had enough time to kick a 40-yard field goal to make the final score 14-13, Panthers! Carolina plays the Packers at Green Bay next week in a huge rivalry, and Arizona (0-1) is at Washington (1-0) to face the rising Redskins. Buccaneers 31-Lions 28 (1:00OT) Between LIEFL All-Pro’s Dexter Bussey of the Lions and Jimmie Giles for the Bucs, this game was a primetime showdown. Both teams have made lots of changes through the draft. With LIEFL great players there is always a game! Originally rookie coach Bobby Biggs was to have the Bucs, but Joey Pizz wasn’t ready to part with the team just yet. Dexter Bussey will never be an average player in this league. His more than 45-year-old player base is still performing at peak levels. The base still has blazing speed, and we are sure you have all experienced the feeling that these players come to life! All of the coaches in this league respect what Bussey has accomplished in the league. Bussey has been involved in some of the most exciting games in LIEFL history. Before the season Bussey’s numbers speak loud and proud, with 11,163 yards and 78 career touchdowns, Bussey is nothing short of electrifying! The league is tenfold better than when we played in the 70’s because of the Draft system in 2008, and Bussey is still doing the same magic even with all the powerhouse changes, it seems he keeps getting better. In 2022, Bussey ranked #5 in NFC all-purpose yards with 76 touches for 1,336 yards with 8 touchdowns, including two 100-yard touchdown returns! Bussey would be a major star in any league with his proven track record. One thing is clear, opponents have to change the way they play when Bussey is on the field. For once, Coach Johnny Freeport said little before the game. Jimmie Giles has been incredible for the Bucs, carrying the team at times for coach Joey Pizz. Giles was super in 2022. He ranked #9 in all-purpose yards with 19 touches for 1,138 yards with four 100-yard touchdown returns! He is one of the biggest threats in the league. What a way to start a game for Tampa Bay as we watched Jimmie Giles explode in 13 seconds running 100-yard touchdown into the end zone to open the season for Tampa Bay, 7-0 Bucs! The Lions roared right back with Dexter Bussey returning the favor with his own 100-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7, with 13:04 remaining in the half! We have a game! It was Tampa Bay's turn again to get the ball and Jimmie Giles returned the football 50-yards. Tampa Bay could not get the running game going with running back Ricky Bell, so on third down it was Giles again who soured! Giles caught a rocket over the center of the field and stormed 50-yards into the end zone to make the score 14-7 Tampa Bay! We all know in this league that Dexter Bussey rises to the occasion. On the ensuing kickoff he ran back his second 100-yard touchdown of the game to tie the game at 14-14, with 8:47 to go and a half! The Buccaneers were relentless! They fought their way to the 45-yard line of Detroit after two stopped runs. And Bucs Tight End Dave Moore broke Free for a 45-yard touchdown catch to put Tampa Bay ahead, 21-14 with 9:08 remaining in the game! Dexter Bussey returned the ball 68-yards on the next kick return. On third down, Lions receiver Herman Moore broke free at the 35-yard line to catch a touchdown pass by Johnny Freeport to tie the game 21-21, with 4:30 remaining in the game! With the score tied at 21-21, it was Jimmie Giles returning the kickoff to 52-yards to bring it to the Lions 48 yard-line. Joey Pizz wasted no time and decided to hit Ricky Bell on a pop-pass and Bell slipped through the middle of the field to put the Bucs ahead 28-21, in a nail biter! These Bucs ruined the Rams and Jets season’s last year with huge upsets! The place got very loud when coaches watched #24 Dexter Bussey run back his third 100-yard touchdown of the game to tie the score 28-28, with 1:07 remaining in the game with the clock ticking! Bussey just ran for his 81st career touchdown! Detroit’s William Gay stopped Jimmie Giles dead in his tracks at the Tampa Bay 35-yard line on a hard-hitting open field tackle by Gay, and the Bucs ran out of time sending the game into overtime in a thriller! Wow! The Buccaneers won the coin toss in overtime and it's going to be Jimmie Giles again with the football. Unbelievable! Jimmie Giles took the kickoff 95-yards just missing his second hundred-yard kick return of the game! The Buccaneers set-up for the game-winning field goal in one minute of overtime. Tampa Bay won their first of the year in a tremendous game 31-28, against the Great revived Lions team! Johnny Freeport was so competitive in this game but obviously upset with the loss, his second of the season. Jimmie Giles went on a rampage with the high-speed board! He had a career game high, 8 touches for 448 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns. He was absolutely explosive just as Dexter Bussey was! Bussey had a great day with four touches for 368 all-purpose yards, including three 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns for the LIEFL Superstar! Week #2 has incredible matchups, considering the summary of this weeks play. We can’t wait! The (1-0) Kansas City Chiefs and Coach Matt Zoo-York will meet league loudmouth, the 6’4 250-pound Johnny Freeport Chucker’s Detroit Lions (0-1), in what promises to be a high-octane offensive game! Tampa Bay (1-0) will play at Minnesota. That game will be explosive! The LIEFL is just getting started with more fierce competition! Packers 17-14 Saints Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs (1-1) takes on the veteran Ed Viggs (2-0), in a highly anticipated matchup, the second time this week the two have met. We will see what the rookie coach learned in the first game against Viggs. You can bet Viggs has a game plan with his Packers. The league has New Orleans under the microscope and excited to see what New Orleans will do with five new player bases they earned in the Draft. They weren’t a terrible team before the draft. Saints running back Reggie Bush was ranked #8 in the NFC in 2022 with 64 touches for 1,265 all-purpose yards with seven touchdowns, including a 100-yard run back. Bush had 303 yards rushing with three touchdowns. The Packers were LIEFL Super Bowl XVI Champions in 2021. Sterling Sharpe is their man, but Green Bay was cut short last season by the rising 49ers. Sharpe touched the ball just 20 times last season, ranking him #12 in the NFC, but he did a lot of damage with his 1,013 yards with six touchdowns, three of them 100-yark kick returns! Green Bay has to improve the running game this year to be relevant. There are so many great teams and great players that anything can happen. The Green Bay Packers wasted no time. Coach Ed Viggs put Packers running back Terdell Middleton to work early on to try to establish a running game for these Packers, and whatever he did worked because the Packers rolled right down field after a 44-yard kick return by Sterling Sharpe. In three plays Middleton was in the end zone with runs of 30, 11, and finally, a 15-yard run for a touchdown to give the Packers the 7-0 lead! The New Orleans Saints tried something new by seeing Marcus Colston return a 50-yard kick return. The Saints went with the run to running back Reggie Bush who had three runs totaling 16 yards, but then on third down the Saints fired away with a Biggs to Colston connection for a 35-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 7-7, bringing the first half of football to a close. On the ensuing kickoff Packers All-Pro Sterling Sharpe ran back 38-yards on the return. The Packers front line brought a charge and Terdell Middleton was impressive. Middleton ran for 40, 10, and 6-yards until on 3rd down after being pushed back for a 15-yard loss. It was Sterling Sharpe who whipped around the right end and into the end zone on a beautiful 25-yard touchdown connection to give the Packers the lead 14-7 with 9:16 remaining in the game. The next series for the New Orleans Saints would prove to show their worth from the draft. After a 34-yard kick return by Reggie Bush who helped himself to four straight plays after being stopped on the first run. Bush then ran for 10-yards, 6-yards, and he had an amazing momentum switch moving from right to left on an electrifying 50-yards sprint down the sideline to tie the game with a beautiful touchdown 14-14, with 2:42 remaining in the game! Bush has blazing speed! As the time ticked away on the clock coach Bobby Biggs New Orleans Saints sure did play hard against one of the top teams in the league in the Green Bay Packers. Sterling Sharpe had a weak kick return day considering the caliber player he is with a 31-yard return in poor position. On the next play Green Bay running back Terdell Middleton slipped through the cracks with a 42-yard pass reception for a first down with just enough time to kick the field goal from the 28-yard line. The Packers walked away with their first win 17-14, against the rising Saints! Viggs has beaten Biggs twice in Week 1. All-purpose yards are critical in this league. Terdell Middleton finished the day with nine touches for 154-yards with one touchdown for the Packers. Sterling Sharpe had an off day with four touches for 138 yards with one touchdown. Bobby Biggs said, “It will take a bit to adjust to the speed of the game, the players, the competition and the coaches, but I can beat Viggs, I just have to not lose focus. I will keep studying his play, and I can tell you I am not going away. Eventually I will succeed and take this league by storm.” Coach Viggs, who usually has no comment, encouraged Biggs by saying, “Bobby can play. He’s smart, knows football, and he is a great passer. I have a lot of respect for him as an E-baller.” Bears 27-Falcons 21 (OT 1:44) What a matchup between the 2022 playoff Atlanta Falcons and the rising Chicago Bears! These are two raging teams with excellent coaches who are loud and proud! Bears speedster Willie Gault looked back in form pre-pandemic opening the game with a stunning 100-yard kick return for a touchdown in 15 seconds to give Chicago the lead 7-0, with 14:45 left to go in the half! Gault finished 2022 ranked #16 in the NFC with 16 touches for 836 with three touchdowns! His performance went down last year, but boy was he a beast today! The Falcons lost to San Francisco 31-24 in OT in the NFC Wild Card Game, but they are back strong. LIEFL All-Pro sensation Gerald Riggs returned the Falcons first kickoff with a 38 yarder. After a two-yard run, Riggs ignited for a 60-yard touchdown scamper to tie the game at 7-7! BAM! On the ensuing kick return, Willie Gault ran back a 40-yard return, The Bears could not get anything going on the run, and on third down Tight End Mike Ditka broke free from defenders exploding 79-yards into the endzone to give Chicago a 14-7 lead with 3:44 left in the half! We have a game! On the Falcons next possession, Gerald Riggs ran his second straight 60-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14-14 with 1:03 left to go in the half! What an explosive game with two very exciting teams! The Bears offense came to play today, and they aren’t backing down to Falcons coach Johnny Freeport Chucker’s high-octane offense! Chicago had trouble getting the running attack going so on third down Bears Coach Paddy Brannigan threw a great pass to Willie Gault who took a 39-yard pass reception into the end zone to put Chicago ahead 21-14, with 5:59 remaining in the game! Incredible! After three runs by Gerald Riggs on 4th down with just 25 seconds left to go in the game Falcons fullback Jamaal Anderson caught a pop-pass over the left side of the field to tie the game at 21-21, to send the game into overtime! In a shocking turn of events and overtime the Bears won the coin toss and then scored on the first run from scrimmage 65-yards as we watched Walter Payton bolt over the Atlanta defense to win the game 27-21, in 1:44 of overtime! Payton becomes the game winning hero! This game was such a thriller! Johnny Freeport got into a verbal trash-talking battle with Coach Paddy Brannigan as the taunting went back and forth! Chicago’s Willie Gault had five touches for 269 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns while Atlanta’s Gerald Riggs exploded ten times for 278-yards with two 60-yard touchdown runs! Riggs had 140 yards rushing! Philadelphia (0-1) plays at Atlanta (0-1) next week in a huge war, and Chicago (1-0) plays at New Orleans and Bobby Biggs Saints (0-1)! In this league each win is critical! It has been an exciting Week#1! Chargers 17-Vikings 10 Another great matchup between two LIEFL Top Ten Teams in the Los Angeles Chargers #6 (93-75) and the 8th Ranked Minnesota Vikings (91-87). Coach Viggs has his Chargers primed for a 4th straight run at getting back to the show. With Chargers running back LaDanian Tomlinson, the AFC’s #3 all-purpose player on his team, Viggs LA Chargers will be tough to stop. Tomlinson touched the ball 83 times for 1,624-yards with13 touchdowns, but he was the #1 rusher in the LIEFL with 55 rushes for 743-yards, with 12 rushing touchdowns! LA is a combined 28-9 since 2018, winning 76% of their games, including four consecutive playoff appearances and a LIEFL Super Bowl XIV loss to the LA Rams 31-28! In 2019, the LA Chargers didn’t quit. They lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Championship Game in a heartbreaker 49-48! Then in 2020, LA lost to rival Miami 32-27 in the AFC Championship Game, but last season in 2022, the Chargers suffered a loss as the #1 Seed in the AFC. They lost their second consecutive AFC Championship Game to Miami 42-25, in a major upset! There is no end to the Chargers’ persistence. With all of the talented teams in the AFC, the Chargers will face their biggest challenge in their own division, and that is against the LIEFL Super Bowl XVII Champion Kansas City Chiefs! The Vikings stunned everyone last season, beating the Carolina Panthers 31-24 in the NFC Wild Card Game. Vikings running back Chuck Foreman out of nowhere, had three touchdowns! Adrian Peterson has been a rock, carrying the no-name Vikings as the #7 all-purpose in the NFC guy with 71 touches for 1,275 yards with eight touchdowns including four 100-yard touchdowns! This season the Vikings will only get better! They picked up several player bases in the draft at linebacker and receiver and Minnesota will be dangerous. We expected Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson to return the opening kickoff, but Coach Viggs switched it up with Kellen Winslow returning a 52-yard opening kickoff! On the first offensive play from scrimmage the Chargers took it to a tough Minnesota defense, looking for a weakness in the Vikings front line. LaDainian Tomlinson ran for seven, and then he was stopped twice by LIEFL All-Pro Carl Eller who dominated the playoffs last year. And on third down LA receiver Lance Alsworth exploded 53-yards on a great pass by Viggs, as Alsworth scored the first touchdown of the game, 7-0 Chargers with 9:20 remaining in the half on a spicy play! The Vikings stormed right back with a 75-yard kick return by Adrian Peterson to the 25 of LA. Three plays later, Chris Carter dropped to the right side in the slot and caught a 33-yard touchdown pass streaking down the sideline breaking Free from defenders to tie the score at 7-7, tie game! The Chargers switched it up again, with LaDainian Tomlinson returning a smoking 54-yard kick. One play later Tomlinson ran in from 46 yards on a scorcher through the left side of the line to make the score 14-7, Chargers lead to end the first half! Vikings rookie playmaker Justin Jefferson ran back a 38-yard kick return, but the Vikings could not get anything going from scrimmage, and on 3rd down playoff hero of 2022 for the Vikings Chuck Foreman took a 23-yards, just short of the first down, forcing the Vikings to kick the field goal to make the score 14-10, Chargers in the lead. Vikings defensive star LIEFL All-Pro Carl Eller made his third tackle of the game stopping Los Angeles’ turnover touchdown drive at the 17-yard line after a 47-yard kick return by Tomlinson. Los Angeles settled for the field goal as they ran out of time, winning the game 17-10 in the season opener! LaDainian Tomlinson had 8 touches for 228 all-purpose yards with one touchdown! Colts 24-Texans 14 This division rivalry is stacked with hope for the Houston Texans as they picked up four player bases in the draft, but it didn't go as they planned because the Indianapolis Colts showed up big on defense led by Elmer Collett and hard-hitting Bubba Smith. Texans star running back Ron Dayne pushed his game to the limit when his line failed him. The tough Dayne, who finished #4 in AFC all-purpose yards in 2022, with 72 touches for 1,590 with 15 touchdowns, including two 100-yard touchdowns, had nowhere to run against this Colts defense, forcing the turnover to the Indianapolis offense and the #1 rated AFC all-purpose offensive player Joseph Addai! Addai was in beast in 2022, touching the ball 73 times for 1,730 yards with 15 touchdowns! On the turnover by the Texans, Addai and company took full advantage in two plays, with Addai blasting through the Houston defense for a 15-yard touchdown run, 7-0 Indianapolis! On the ensuing kickoff for the Texans, Ron Dayne took a 60-yard kick return to the Colts 40-yard line, but the Texans offense struggled to move the football. On third down second year Tight End Ryan Griffin caught a 53-yard rocket into the endzone to tie the game 7-7, to end the first half! Colts running back Joseph Addai answered by returning a 99-yard kick return, and one play later Addai ran in one-yard for his second touchdown of the game 14-7, Colts beating the Texans with 13:14 left to go in the game. Houston answered BIG! After a 36-yard kick return by Ron Dayne two plays later Dayne blasted through the Colts defense with a 64 yards TD scamper into the end zone to tie the game at 14-14, and the Texans are on the mend. Whipping his way down the right side on the ensuing kickoff with blazing speed Joseph Addai had an electrifying run down the right sideline for a a 100-yard touchdown return to make the score 21-14, Indianapolis over Houston with 7:21 remaining in the game and an explosive game! The Texans could not score on their last drive turning the ball over after four failed plays. The Colts kicked a field goal from 46-yards away to win the game 24-14 in week 1! The Texans draft picks need some work! Great game by the rising Colts!
  15. Thank you coach we really appreciate it! Just makes it more enjoyable.
  16. Great work enjoyed seeing your teams and your innovation!
  17. Photos from several week #1 games with write-ups and other games on the way for the first week of intense electric football! Hooyah! What a week it has been in our seventh seven game season! We had ten 14 games seasons and the fierce competition continues.
  18. The beauty of the foam board he said is that you can craft that right into any stadium that you want or any size field.
  19. Our guy who made it said it was easy to make. He used sheets of foamboard which he bought at the dollar store and he crafted it the way he wanted to make it look like a coliseum. He bought stickers and posts and made it what it is.
