St. Louis 30 Washington 21 I remember growing up in southern wv every sunday the nfc game was on cbs and the afc game was on nbc......seems like almost every sunday is was a safe bet that i would see the eagles...cardinals or redskins on the 1 pm game.....this one reminded me of that....the cardinals move on to the 2nd round and will face off against the eagles.....this was a great game with long td runs...td passes a couple interceptions and even a 60 yd field goal at the end of the first half....the star of the game was #36 MacArthur Lane for the cardinals who had 3 rushing tds....other great cardinals pictured include 21 terry metcalfe...66 conrad dobler...72 dan dierdorf...64 bob young...and 17 jim hart......outstanding redskins from the past include : 9 sonny jurgenson....43 larry brown...42 charlie taylor...87 jerry smith ....and 72 big joe rudkins......next game will feature the green bay packers vs the atlanta falcons.

Schafrath was a good one....the browns had so many great players....leroy kelly was the marque rb when i first got interested in pro football in the late 60s....brown had already retired....gary collins and paul warfield and marion motley from the early days .....the 1968 season was the first one i remember watching as a kid....my very first electric football teams were the w rams and d jets....the rams were my favorite team and i picked the jets because they had just won the superbowl ...i bet i played 50 games between those 2 teams before i bought more teams...great memories.

Yes....they were both very good in that era of pro football....lonnie warwick from the vikings is an old friend of my head football coach at the local high school i coached at for a long time....his good friends call him sam instead of lonnie....he lives about 40 miles north of me in a little town called mt hope...he used to bring a bunch of the mt hope kids to our summer fb camps each year....great guy.

Vikings 13 49ers 7.....i think ill call this one the gene washington game....84 washington for the vikes caught 2 td passes from joe kapp..the last one was on the next to last play of the game to give the vikings the go ahead score....then 18 washington for the 49ers ran the kickoff back 88 yards but he ran out at the 10 and the 49ers were out of plays....great players represented are : 84 washington....59 lonnie warwick....41 ed osborn....and 81 carl eller for the vikings......18 washington...12 john brodie...69 woody peoples...40 ken willard...and 57 frank nunley......next up will be the 1967 bm la rams...and 1969 hogleg detroit Lions

Browns 14 cowboys 0 This game kind of reminded me of one of those late season games where both teams had losing records and they just wanted to get off the field......highlights for the browns was a long td pass from bill nelson to gary collins....and a 42 yd burst up the middle by jim brown as the browns were running out the clock......great players from the past include : 32 jim brown....66 gene hickerson....and 86 gary collins.....for cleveland.......great old cowboys represented were : 74 bob lilly....75 jethro pugh...and 22 bob hayes.....the next game will feature the 49ers vs the vikings.

I have been dealing with medical issues...just the price us old guys pay sometimes.....i decided to scrap my last tournament and just start fresh with a new one....im going to play an old NFL tourney using the 16 NFL teams that were in the league before the 1970 merger....it will be a 16 team single elimination tourney....all the teams will be tudor original 1969 hogleg teams numbered to represent the great old players from the late 60s and early 70s.....game 1 ...eagles 14 giants 3....pictures include 18 ben hawkins...37 tom woodeshek ...76 bob brown...and 22 tim brown for the eagles.......30 ron johnson...24 tucker fredrickson....and 89 fred dryer for the giants.....up next will be the saints vs the bears.....

Miami 30 Washington 15 Good game that broke open in the 2nd half...the scored was tied 3 to 3 at halftime but Washington's larry brown #43 and Miami's larry czonka #39 hit the field running after intermission with both scoring 2 tds and paul warfield #42 for miami had a td catch from #12 bob griese ...warfield also had a pick 6 to put the game out of reach as miami went on to win...some of the great stars in the pictures include brown....charlie taylor #42....john riggins #44..#87 jerry smith..and billy kilmer #17 for washington.....for miami #39 czonka....#42 warfield....#21 jim kiick ...#80 marv fleming.....#22 mercury morris and #75 manny fernandez.....next up will be the last game of the first round as the eagles take on the broncos.

Yes they made these for 2 or 3 years i think....they had the 2 teams in the afc and nfc championship games.of that year..u got 4 teams which was cool.....typically rams..viking...cowboys from nfc....and steelers raiders and dolphins in afc......i always liked the graphics and the triple decker scoreboard.....ive owned a couple before this one but they werent in good shape or had some rust.....this one is in real good shape...so it should be a keeper finally.

This has been a weird tourney rick.....the rams..jets..raiders and packers have always been my favorite 4 teams...all 4 have been one and done in this tourney .....😞

When i was a kid 2 games i played besides electric football was Mattel talking football ( i still have one and the sports caster works ) ...great game....and i also played monday night football the game where u put the long cards in and the result of the play would shine up on the field..still have that one too.....great post....thanks for the memories !

Broke out my latest field the big championship game board from the mid 70s.....i always liked the graphics on this board..... Chiefs defeat packers 21 to 7....the game was tied 7 to 7 midway through the 4th qt...but 2 big plays broke the game open for the chiefs.....first the packers missed a 45 yd fg and the chiefs got the ball on the 20....bobby tank holmes then went off tackle for 80 yds....on the packers next series....bart starr threw a rare interception ...bobby bell of the chiefs made the play...then 3 plays later...holmes scored from 32 yds out to seal the deal for the chiefs......great players from the past represented include : 45 holmes....16 lenny dawson...89 otis taylor....55 ej holub....63 willie lanier....14 ed podolak for the chiefs......for the packers.....31 jim taylor......5 paul hornung....87 willie davis...89 dave robinson....64 jerry kramer...63 fuzzy thurston....24 willie wood and 66 ray nitschke......next up is the bears vs chargers.....this is an interesting matchup because in 1963 the chargers were the high scoring AFL champions....and the bears were the defensive minded NFL champions......the chargers challenged the bears to a world championship game but it never was played.
