Figure Painting - First Attempt

Recommended Posts

Painted my first two players. Needed to replace a broken Redskin and a lost Bengal. (I found the missing Bengal a day after completing the painting, of course). I used a couple figures from the red and white teams that came with the board. They're not outstanding, but I think they're a couple ticks above acceptable. I got a bit lazy with skin color, so the Bengal is from the North Pole and the Redskin is from the Republic of Congo. 😅

Thanks WeeVikes! I did indeed enjoy it. I'm expanding my solitaire league with 4 new teams, the Bears, Lions, Chargers and Seahawks. I got 8 pre-painted generic teams (home and away for each team) from Tudor so it will mainly be detailing work, though I may change the Chargers paints from white to yellow.

Be patient and take your time.  Take breaks when you need to.  I know you’re excited to use your teams, but trust me — nothing makes a quality paint job quite like working carefully and not rushing things.  Get quality brushes of different sizes, don’t be afraid to experiment with different paints, thinning them, etc., and anything else you can think of.  Maybe experiment on plastic utensils or other disposable plastic objects to hone your technique.  You’re well on your way to being a football team painting stud!
