I grew up in small town America ...there were about 8 or 10 boys my age in about a 4 block area and we all had electric football games...some had the big super bowl 3 and some had the big grass endzone browns Giants and some had the little colts Packers game.....most had 8 or 10 Tudor teams....we were always playing football and basketball outside but on rainy days we played electric football....it was just the era we grew up in and electric football was the game of choice for so many of us.....I used to get a few teams in the little brown box from Tudor on Christmas and my birthday every year.....good memories.

I just finished the last tournament on Sunday evening. I usually wait a few weeks before starting a new one. But I am in a playing mood so I figure I would take advantage of that. This tournament will be a new concept ...I'm calling it The Luck of the Draw Tournament. ....I collect the 26 teams when the NFL and AFL merged in 1970.....I took a set of those 26 teams scoreboard name tags ...put them in a hat and drew out 16 teams....then I took the 16 put them back in the hat and matched up the first round games.....once I get the matchups I decide which uniforms I want each team to use.....after the first round I'll do the same thing with the 8 winners......game 1 featured the hog white broncos vs the hog dark black helmet saints ....and it was a humdinger ...I'm glad I decided to play tonight because it was a great game.
Broncos 34 Saints 31
In the late 60s and early 70s neither of these teams had much success but they both played like super bowl contenders in this one.....Tom Barrington of the saints started the scoring on a 11 yard run and then a few plays later Floyd Little of the broncos scored and the game became a seesaw back and forth classic...it feature big plays on the ground...through the air and a couple of kickoff returns for touch downs too......great broncos from yesterday include : 44 Little...25 Otis Armstrong....87 Rich "tombstone" Jackson....55 Pete duranko....63 Dave Costa....42 Billy vanhusen....and 11 bobby Anderson.....the saints featured : 17 billy kilmer....25 Al Dodd...46 Danny abradowicz....76 Dave Rowe....83 Dave parks....38 Tony Baker and 32 Barrington......up next will be hog white chargers vs the hog dark eagles

Next tourney I'm going to call( luck of the draw).....I'm putting 26 team name tags in a hat...drawing out 16....then matching up who plays who by drawing out the 16 again.....after the first round I'll take the surviving 8 and do it again.....having some fun playing this great game of ours.

Super Bowl
Bears 28 chiefs 14
Gale Sayers was unstoppable the entire tournament and finished with 3 touchdowns tonight. The score at halftime was 7-7 but the bears dominated the 2nd half......great bears represented include : 40 sayers....29 Ronnie bull....11 Jack concannon ....89 Mike ditka....78 Stan Jones....45 dick gordon...81 Doug Atkins....87 Ed obradovich....55 Doug buffone....41 Brian piccolo and 51 Dick Butkus.......great chiefs from the past included 16 len Dawson...89 Otis Taylor....78 bobby bell....63 Willie Lanier....21 Mike Garrett....45 bobby Holmes and 55 ej holub......I think for the next tournament I'm going to put all 26 team name tags in a hat...pull out 16 and line them up and play.....what a great game this electric football is.

Super Bowl preview
The Chicago Bears vs the Kansas City Chiefs..Lamar Hunt vs George Halas..... Mr Hunt created the AFL and Mr Halas basically created the NFL.....I'll probably play this one Sunday Night......I've enjoyed this great game of electric football for around 53 years now.....original 1967 bigmen bears vs original 1967 bigmen Chiefs.

BEARS 17 GIANTS 3
In the snow the Bears needed one good drive and at least a field goal in the 4th qt to put the game away.....gale sayers carried them down the field on the long drive then scored his 2nd TD to give the bears the win and a trip to the super bowl to face the Chiefs.....great bears from the past include : 40 Sayers...51 Dick Butkus....45 Dick Gordon....87 Ed Obradovich....55 Doug Buffone....81 Doug Atkins....78 Stan Jones and 89 Mike Ditka.....the Giants were led by : 30 Ron Johnson....24 Tucker Fredrickson....40 Joe Morrison...38 Bob Tucker....71 Bob Lurtsema....and 89 Fred Dryer......I think for the Super Bowl I'll match the Bigmen Bears in white vs the Bigmen Chiefs in dark and play on my Super Bowl III board.

Ok...picked up 2 rare teams for the collection from a great electric football friend.....w hog chargers and d black helmet saints....been trying to secure a set of w hog chargers for about a year....the saints were just a bonus.....really excited.......now I can finish this tournament with a big smile...lol.....I'm going to play the hog w chiefs vs the hog d Jets for the AFL CHAMPIONSHIP.....then I'll play the hog white Giants vs the hog dark bears for the NFL CHAMPIONSHIP....then the SUPER BOWL.....I'll have to make sure and set up a early game with the chargers and saints against 2 teams in the next tournament.

AFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
CHIEFS 30 JETS 27 overtime
I decided to play the AFL CHAMPIONSHIP on the small Historic AFL field that Tudor made in 1968 and 69.....this and Super Bowl III were the only 2 fields that the old Tudor ever made with AFL IN THE ENDZONE.....I image young boys all over America woke up on Christmas morning to find one of these games under the tree.....the original game came with bigmen chiefs and sometimes a mixture of big w Jets and hog Jets.....I was able to get my big white Jets by buying several of these games...then replacing the bigmen with hogs and reselling .....the later versions came with strictly hogleg w Jets and hog d chiefs ....I read that because of Namath and the 68 Jets popularity so many of these games were sold that Tudor actually had to start putting in bigmen bills and dolphins because they had actually ran out of chiefs and jets.....I would guess that there were some unhappy kids when that happened.....ok enough history ...on to the game.....the game ran smooth and Matt Snell for the jets and Bobby Holmes for the chiefs had monster games...Snell had all 4 jets tds...and tank had 3 for the chiefs.....the score was 20 to 20 at halftime as neither RB could be stopped ...I said to myself that this game would probably boil down to a turnover and late in the game Namath threw an interception but 3 plays later Dawson did too....the jets missed a 40 yd field goal on the last play of regulation and the game went to overtime....on the 2nd play of overtime.. Holmes ripped a 50 yd run off tackle and set up an easy field goal and allow the chiefs to move on to the SUPER BOWL.....great former Jets tonight were : 41 snell...32 Emerson boozer....12 Joe Namath....52 John Schmidt.....66 Randy Rasmussen....67 Dave Herman....13 Don Maynard....and 87 Pete Lammons.....great chiefs from yesterday included : 45 Holmes....16 Len Dawson....89 Otis Taylor....55 EJ Holub.....78 Bobby Bell....51 Jim Lynch....and 63 Willie Lanier.....up next will be the Giants at the bears....I have a feeling a snow storm might hit and this one will be played on my modern Tudor snow cover field.

Thanks.....I have most of the old original teams and rather than let them just sit in a box I like to number them to represent the players from the 60s and 70s and actually play the game....I still buy an old team from time to time and I'm still like a little kid waiting for it to arrive in the mail.....I admire the new inventions and the great painters and decalers of the modern era....but the old teams are what has always kept me interested and enjoying the hobby.....it's been something I have really enjoyed for over 50 years..and I appreciate the new Tudor people and this site ......thanks again.

The Giants move on to the NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME with their 14 to 10 win over the Redskins.....Ron Johnson and Tucker Fredrickson had rushing tds for NY....While Larry Brown had the lone td for Washington.....the Giants will face the Bears in the NFL while the Jets will face the Chiefs in the AFL.....great Giants from the past include : 30 Johnson...24 Fredrickson.....89 Fred Dryer....71 Bob Lurtsema..45 Homer Jones...and 10 Fran Tarkenton.....Washington was represented by 43 Brown...42 Charlie Taylor...55 Chris Hanburger...56 Lenn Haus....87 Jerry Smith...80 Roy Jefferson...and 9 Sonny Jurgenson.......I'm not sure which game I'll play next and which combination of teams ( bigmen or hogs ) ....so I'll wait to post the up next picture

This was a good one...the Patriots controlled the line but Namath controlled the air with a TD pass to George Sauer and 1 to Matt Snell.....the Patriots had a chance to win at the end but missed a 31 yd field goal.....big Jim Nance had 2 tds for Boston......great Jets from yesterday include : 12 Joe Namath....83 Sauer...41 Snell....75 Winston Hill....87 Pete Lammons....and 13 Don Maynard....great Patriots included 35 Nance...34 Ron Sellers...20 Geno Capaletti...65 Houston Antwine....30 Carl Garrett....and 72 Larry Eisenhower.....the Jets now move on to the AFL CHAMPIONSHIP and face the Chiefs......up next is Washington vs New York Giants....the winner moves on to the NFL CHAMPIONSHIP and will meet the Bears.

This one started out like the chiefs were going to run away with it as the took a 10 to 0 lead into the locker room and we're receiving the 2nd half kick but the chargers scrapped their way back before losing 16 to 13.....Gary garrison caught 2 John Hadle passes for TDs....and Mike Garrett had 2 rushing TDs for the chiefs......the chargers were led by : 27 Garrison...21 Hadle....77 Ernie ladd...19 lance alworth....23 Paul lowe..86 earl faison.....and 74 Ron mix.....the chiefs were led by 21 Garrett...16 Lenny Dawson....89 Otis Taylor..45 bobby Holmes....14 Ed podalak..61 curley culp....55 ej holub....and 63 Willie Lanier..... I'll stay in the AFL side and play the jets vs the Patriots next to see who will meet the chiefs in the AFL championship GAME.

This was really a great game ...the teams traded TDs the whole game....gale sayers and Mel farr had great rushing games but there was a TD pass to Mike ditka and Charlie sanders a kickoff return for a TD by Steve Owens and a late interception by Doug Atkins that helped the bears move on to to the NFL championship game. Great bears represented today include : 40 sayers...89 ditka...81 Atkins....51 dick butkus....45 dick gordon...87 Ed obradovich...55 Doug buffone....41 Brian piccolo..and 78 stan Jones.....the Lions were represented by : Farr 24....88 Sanders...36 Owens....53 Mike lucci...54 Ed flanagan...55 Wayne walker....42 altie Taylor....and 11 Greg Landry......up next I'll move over to the AFL bracket and play the hkbs chargers and the hogleg chiefs.

Gino Capaletti went the distance on the 2nd half kick for the only touchdown of the game and Boston hung in to win 9-3.....the Bills we're driving in the 4th qt but Larry Eisenhower intercepted a Jack Kemp pass and allowed the Patriots to run out the clock.....great Patriots from the past include : 20 Capaletti....72 Eisenhower.....35 Jim Nance....30 Carl Garrett and 34 Ron Sellers....the Bills were represented by 15 Kemp...25 Haven Moses....32 OJ Simpson....66 Billy Shaw...and 72 Ron McDole.......the tournament is down to the final 4 for each league....the NFL has the Redskins vs the Giants and the Lions vs the Bears....the AFL will have the Patriots vs the Jets and the Chiefs vs the Chargers......up next will be the Hog Lions vs the Hog Bears.

Both teams had chances to win in regulation but on the 2nd play of overtime gale sayers sprinted 60 yds to send the bears on to the 3rd round to face the lions...( I don't remember the rule from back then but the extra point was not kicked since as soon as sayers crossed the goal line...game over) ..great bears from yesterday include : 40 sayers...51 dick butkus...10 bobby Douglas....55 Doug buffone...89 Mike ditka...87 Ed obradovich..45 dick gordon..and 41 Brian piccolo....for the Vikings : 44 chuck foreman....81 Carl eller...88 Alan page...70 Jim marshall...59 Lonnie Warwick ....84 gene Washington and 11 Joe kapp......next up will be an AFL matchup between the chickenleg Patriots....and hog bills.
