More Butterscotch Bases for the Suncats

Recommended Posts

I found 20 more butterscotch bases on eBay and I've added the bases to my draft choices for the Suncats. 🌞🐅

The butterscotch dials will become part of the Golden Grizzlies' draft. 🤩👍

The funky blue players are reserve players for the Thunderbirds🦅

The funky red players will go into storage.

I am not absolutely positive, but when Superior Toys / Tudor Games went bankrupt in 1990-1991? It is possible that Playtime bought the base molds that were Tudor's. On the box cover of the 1991 Playtime ABC Monday Night Football, all the parts - Players, teams, Bases game parts are all Tudor.

Structurally? Comparable to the Tudor TTC dial bases of the late 1980's.

Those butterscotch bases are the oddest color choice for a base I’ve seen.

I believe there is a natural assumption that the base should be green because grass is green. 🟩 Yet, Tudor frequently called the bases: cleats. 👟 Cleats make the base part of the player — specifically the shoe — which makes sense since the base, like the player's foot, is doing the work.

Perhaps if I called the color: 🤠 Texas Longhorn burnt orange, then the color would look perfectly natural? 🤔

I really think the color was just to differentiate the Playtime Brand from the Tudor Brand. It does help in identifying the base as a Playtime base rather than a Tudor Base.  As far as I know Miggle Toys / Tudor Games never made a base this color when they started producing the colored "Convention" bases. Another reason I think that they are so in demand is that the plastic is harder than others and will hold a "tweak" better.

Exactly. 😃👍  Perhaps the plastic is getting more rigid with age, or the plastic was more rigid to begin with, I don't know. 🤔 But I know I'm not alone in my admiration for these bases. 😍

I think it is just the original plastic they used. Tudors late 80's and even early 90's darker green TTC bases some to be about the same. Have a great day. and Journey On!! (Thanks Daryl Collins, now you got me saying it! LOL)
