Gearing up

Recommended Posts

If I remember right, the NFC was the home team in last year’s Super Bowl. That means the AFC should be in home dark jerseys this year. So when the two teams are announced, I’ll be watching to see what uniforms both teams will be wearing so I can make the decision, do I get Uni-forms or order a couple of pre-painted teams. Availability will be an issue. So will cost as 2 Uni-forms teams are about 1/3 as much as pre-paints. Nevertheless, I’ll get one or the other because the older I get, the more precious each year’s Super Bowl is. One of the ways I celebrate is represent the teams on the electric football stage.
This is just a very satisfying time of year to be in this hobby!

Yes, you are correct, the Philadelphia Eagles as the NFC representative, were the designated home team and wore their "Home" dark jersey uniforms. However just as recent as three Super Bowl's ago, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the home team and wore their white jersey uniforms. There have been several instances where the home team has worn "white" as the home team in the history of the Super Bowl. Check out the Gridiron Uniform Database's Super Bowl History Page.

Since it is my hope that the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Ravens are the NFC and AFC representatives, and the Ravens should be the designated "Home" team. Here is what each team should be wearing in this year's Super Bowl.

Interestingly they did meet in week 7 of the regular season this year in Baltimore and this is the uniforms they work in that game.

More than likely, it will be either the 49ers and Ravens or the 49ers and Chiefs. That Chiefs vs. Ravens AFC Championship Game is going to be the game to watch. and probably the more exciting of the two, but I have a very close friend who is from Michigan and a lifelong Lions fan. So, for his sake I have to hope that the Lions are going to make it to their first Super Bowl ever.
