I am sure that it was a licensing and branding issue just like it is today for any movie tie-in merchandising. I do know of or have heard of several people who have painted and created teams from these movies.  I have thought about doing it myself. Of the three "The Longest Yard" is my favorite. Mean Machine vs. the Guards. very simple uniforms too. I used to work with a guy at a "Sports Authority" store in the Nashville, TN area, who also played Arena Football for the Nashville Kats. who went to Miami to play for the Miami Sharks in the "Any Given Sunday" Movie. I have posters of the Kats "Kitten" cheerleaders signed by a couple of them and a Kats team poster signed by a couple of the players when they made appearances at the Grand Opening of the Store in the Fall of 1999.

I love all that stuff! Yes, The Longest Yard is my favorite as well. NDF runs a close second. Dad took me to see The Longest Yard at the theaters when I was 12. What the heck was he thinking!?!😁The Bernadette Peters scene was about more than my pre-adolescent self could handle!

I was a teenage boy and I dreamed of playing in the NFL and going to parties as the parties are portrayed in North Dallas Forty and in Any Given Sunday.

I also dreamed of being Captain Kirk.
