Shamrock Bay took a 7 — 0 lead and on the ensuing kick off...

 

The Quick and the Dead have the ball 1st and Goal at the two yard line. Proset Formation. The Quick and the Dead fake the pitch to the left side and handoff to #23 who is headed for the A Gap...

 

... And the End Zone.  💥💫

Bluehen, In a post a couple weeks ago you asked if there is a variation on the Power I when the defense is clogging up the middle. This is the same play I demonstrated when I answered your post.

The fullback still hits the line of scrimmage like a Coach Collins "Quick Hitter" which freezes the MLB.

Quick and the Dead HB #23 has the speed to make the edge. But just barely.

Ya see, the thing about the Quick and the Dead that you must remember is, they have three running backs. HB #23 got the documentary, but TBs #33 and #36 are like Rocky Bleier and Jim Kiick, they can really gouge the defense also.

 Shamrock Bay and WR/KR #46 took the clock down to 10 seconds.

 

Another pass to WR #46 is the obvious play.

However, the Shamrock Bay have a wily old veteran on their team. QB #13 is slow as Joe Namath, or Dan Marino in January, but #13 was the QB on both of Shamrock Bay's previous Fruit Bowl wins. This guy's middle name is DEPENDABLE.

Beginning of the Second Half.

The coach of the Quick and the Dead felt the team must attempt something to prevent the Shamrock Bay from going up by two touchdowns.

The Quick and the Dead sacked Shamrock QB #13 (remember he is slow as Namath or Marino in January) ...

 

 

But that wasn't enough. On 2nd and Goal from the Quick and the Dead 8 the Shamrock Bay fake the QB Sweep and handoff to HB #33. He goes into the End Zone untouched.

Shamrock Bay WR/KR #46 was the game MVP 🏅 with 186 receiving yards and 121 kick return yards and 3 touchdowns.

They say offense draws crowds (or sells tickets), but defense wins championships. I feel like that was the difference, because had the Quick and the Deads linebackers not fallen for the window dressing and fake sweeps, they'd be in position for the HB up the gut (something you'd expect from Shamrock Bay if you learned the scouting report). The defensive coordinator really needs to show those boys some game film this off-season...📹🎥

I'm always looking for more butterscotch-colored TTC bases that came with the ABC's Monday Night Football game. The game was surreptitiously released (probably) by Superior toys in 1990. ABC got wind of the unlicensed illegal release and forced all the games to be withdrawn.

The butterscotch (some collectors call them gold bases to match the gold jackets the Monday Night Football commentators wore) are the best bases. I would gladly walk to Long Island for an opportunity to buy those bases. 😃👍
