Long Island Electric Football League (Established 1972)

(1983-84) Long Island EFL, Standings, Stat Leaders, Playoffs and Super Bowl Super Bowl VII, NFC Washington Redskins vs. AFC Miami Dolphins

A very memorable 1983-84 LIEFL Season as William "Billy" O'Connell and the Denver Broncos defeated Joe "Bino" Cerabino and the Baltimore Colts 33-32 in a wild Round 1 LIEFL playoff matchup. The AFC Championship Game featured the Denver Broncos played by Joe Pizzimenti against O'Connell's Miami Dolphins as the Dolphins beat the Broncos 35-34 in a stunner!

We had great contributors in this season Anthony Porcelli was a great passer, Peter Porcelli played pro football in the arena league for the Albany team, and then there was rookie Joey Hernandez.

In one of the most historic Super Bowls for the Long Island electric football league, Ed Viglietta (A quarterback and cornerback on the Bay Shore High School two-time Rutgers Cup Football Champion Bay Shore High on Long Island, and star Lacrosse player) an outstanding athlete, one of the smartest athletes as well as one of the best BUZZ-Ballers metal-gridiron warriors and passers in the USA, powered the Redskins over William O'Connell's Dolphins in (OT) 34-31 in a LIEFL Super Bowl VII thriller! The great John Riggins touched the ball only seven times for 97 yards rushing with three touchdowns as the "Hogs" offensive line led by Dave Butz ran through the Miami Dolphins defensive, earning Riggins Super Bowl VII MVP honors for the Redskins!
