Steinbrenner, Ray Negron hosting the feast, Coach Ed Viggs looked confident in his Green Bay Packers for today's matchup. Viggs is a brilliant electric football coach! His underdog Green Bay Packers battled a ferocious Washington Football Team in an unforgettable win for the Packers 32-28, with Sharpe winning NFC Championship Game MVP! Green Bay will face the AFC repeat Champion Miami Dolphins (8-2) in what is expected to be a terrific Long Island Electric Football Super Bowl with a nice money pool to the winner! It was a beautiful day outside everybody enjoyed the warmth of the sun the excitement didn't leave New York, we carried it down to Florida and visited Coach Billy O'C's high school in Tampa.

The Packers (8-1) set the tone early in the NFC Championship Game as the fireworks began as soon as the game started with Sterling Sharpe blasting off downfield with a 100 yard touchdown on the opening kick off to give Green Bay the lead 8-0 after the two-point conversion pass from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to Don Hutson! Packers Coach Viggs, shouted, "Who said that the Packers are not an offensive team?" That was the best run Sterling Sharpe has made all season long and he has gotten better as the season's gone on.

Washington got off to a rough start on conversions, but kick returner Tony Green was on fire! He returned a 63 yard kickoff, untouched and then he ran in a 37 yard touchdown! Washington tried to go for two but WFT quarterback Joe Theisman was sacked in the backfield by Jim Taylor to make the score 8-6, with 7:11 remaining in the first quarter!

sterl100.thumb.png.12a6c227f1a4af545af5d4dcaad82f0b.pngOn Green Bay's next kick return, Sterling Sharpe ran back a 44 yard return for a nice setup, but the Packers found themselves in trouble with this Washington defense who suddenly came alive as Dexter Manley had two tackles in a row! Packers running back Terdell Middleton could only muster up two yards on the first two runs, bringing up a third down situation with 1:51 remaining in the first quarter as the two minute warning came to sound in this NFC Championship Game between Washington and Green Bay.

packnfccg6.thumb.jpg.4650b168c0e0e9d0ae22e2d9eed3bdda.jpgWith a start like this one, the excitement and the feel of summer in the warmth, was a beautiful way to play a big game! Holy cow! The Packers are on fire! Coach Viggs and Aaron Rodgers threw an electrifying 75-yard touchdown pass to Sterling Sharpe (PHOTO ABOVE) who broke free into an open field for his second touchdown of the game into the end zone! And that one has everybody in the room going crazy with 1:17 remaining in the first quarter! WOW! This coach is brilliant. Coach Paddy Brannigan seemed a bit stunned as things got turned around very quickly in the Packers favor. They are the hungry team as the first quarter came to a close, and the commotion has begun with lots of noise, and music! After the Packers went for the two-point conversion, Sterling Sharpe scored again as Green Bay advanced their lead to 16-6 with 14:24 left in the half! It is very unusual for Washington to be beaten like this.

There is something definitely in the Kool-Aid with these Packers today. They have performed outstanding, matching Washington who have played great in the playoffs, beating Dallas 45-37, and then a tough Seattle Seahawks team 24-22!  Coach Vigg's strategy, whatever that may be is working for his Packers.  In the madness of it all the question remains, why did he pick Coach Brannigan to play with this team instead of the alternate coach Bino, who was ready? It was a coach's decision.

And, on a big third down play Washington's Art Monk could not get the first down. He came up just short on a tough play, brining the ball to the three yard line for a 20-yard gain, which put Washington in a fourth down situation with three yards to go for a touchdown. Green Bay made a statement on fourth down stopping fullback John Riggins and the Washington at the five yard line. Holy cow! Nose tackle Willie Davis came up huge! Now the Packers have a chance to blow it wide open, with 4:49 remaining in the half.

With two first down runs in a row of 12, and 10 yards by Terdell Middleton for the Green Bay Packers Middleton then ran the ball to the Packers own 27-yard line as the two minute warning sounded off. This has turned into quite the game as the Washington defense rejects and denies Middleton and Taylor after the first down that Middleton ran. There's 58 seconds left to go in the half and Washington called their final time out of the half, but was second down and Green Bay began to wear this Washington team down. These two teams may be going into the locker room after this play with no timeouts left and no chance to score to close the half.

On the very next play Middleton exploded on a 25 yard, taking the ball to the Washington 38-yard line as the first half came to a close, and what a first half for the Packers and Coach Viggs!

Commissioner William O'Connell said, that was an amazing first half of football and not what I expected. I thought it would be a different game. I thought Washington would set the tone of the game, but all season long people have doubted the Packers and I think it's about time we give them a fair shake because they really are a good team. Sterling Sharpe is on fire and when you have guys playing like that, that means they are rising to the occasion. Obviously in the big game Viggs plays well under pressure, and Brannigan has done a great job keeping it close. Washington is not dead here. They are just getting going.  Tony Green will bust out,  and I am just not sure if the Packers will be denied today. They are playing that well! The Packers have been able to keep Tony Green in check but he does have over 60 yards on the ground rushing in the first half. The second half should be even more exciting than the first with the score Green Bay 16-Washington 6.

To begin the third quarter, Washington tailback Tony Green returned the kick 43 yards. Washington kept moving the ball forward with a 5-yard run, then the Green Bay defense stopped them on second down. On third down, Green caught a 9-yard first down pass from quarterback Joe Theismann, and then Washington started up the running game again with an 11-yard gain, finally bringing the ball to the 19-yard line of the Green Bay Packers with 5:36 remaining in the third quarter. On first down Tony Green bullied his way in for the 19 yard score on great blocking by "The Diesel" John Riggins and Washington was determined!

Washington converted the two points as Riggins caught a two-yard pass for the two-point conversion to make the score 16-14 with Green Bay in the lead at 3:48 and the third quarter!

packnfccg1.thumb.jpg.327d8f73f0678859b76e03621048fb79.jpgIt has been a very intense battle defensively. Green Bay's Sterling Sharpe was having a day, returning a gorgeous 53-yarder. Sharpe so far has been the star of the day as the two-minute warning sounded, bringing the third half to a near close. Both coaches have really killed the clock. On the next play, Middleton came up to huge again with a 30-yard first down, bringing the ball to the Washington 18-yard line. These Packers have no quit in them. They are playing like men, with a smash mouth running attack, as the third quarter ended.

We are on to our final quarter of football! It's like an illusion watching Green Bay work for their coach as he works for them.

To begin the fourth quarter with the score close, 16-14, Green Bay, on first down Ark Monk made his third defensive tackle in the backfield to pull down Middleton for a 7-yard loss, with second down coming up to begin the fourth quarter. Wow! On a gutsy play, Aaron Rodgers-coach Viggs hit Middleton right up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown catch, and Green Bay advances their lead 22-14, as they go for the extra points by conversion. The winner of this game plays Miami tomorrow in the Super Bowl! Coach Viggs forgot to set a quarterback and Green Bay receives a 10-yard penalty as he makes his first mental mistake. It is Sterling Sharpe who came up big again for the two-point conversion to bring the score to 24-14, Green Bay in the lead, with 9:33 left to go in the game! The Packers are on fire and taking it to Washington! The Packers are just out-playing Washington, who is an outstanding football team, but it's so weird how they play a little different for a different coach and Coach Brannigan is an excellent coach, but he isn't Viggs.

pack7.thumb.jpg.b3c435019ad7d51c6c63f3b235df9014.jpgOh my goodness! Tony Green has turned this into a game when on the ensuing kick return he had an electrifying return blazing down the left sideline 100 yards, to make this score 24-20, with 8:20 left in the game! Wow! What a loud roar let out by the coaches! What an absolutely spectacular game as Art Monk caught the two yard two-point conversion to make the score 24-22, with Washington trailing with just 6:34 remaining in the game!

As time wound down, on first down, running back Terdell Middleton ran for a 15-yard first down to the Washington 48-yard line, after being stopped by the Washington defense on first down. The final two minute warning sounded off in the 4th quarter. What a tremendous game it has been. Green Bay forced Washington to use their last timeouts as coach Brannigan regroups. He has made this quite a game and stepped in to play with a great team! There is no giving up in this Washington football team. This season they have had an outstanding year but so have the Packers. And they received a lot of criticism this Green Bay team.

pack2nfccg.thumb.jpg.f15e6d158cb35d98c1e5df4dec8712e6.jpgOn first down Green Bay was pushed back 6 yards as Washington called a timeout with 1:47 remaining in the game. The next play was explosive! You'll never believe it! Coach Viggs used Brannigan's timeout against him to set up Fullback Jim Taylor who broke free at the 48-yard line taking a pass from Aaron Rodgers 48 yards downfield into the end zone for the touchdown! This place is going crazy! Playoff football baby! Green Bay 30-Washington 22!

The Packers have lit up the scoreboard today on a fantastic team and Washington is forced to call their last time out!
With 1:17 left on the clock, coach Viggs predicted that his team would be going to the Super Bowl and for the third time in 49 years they will meet the Miami Dolphins as Green Bay scored on the two-point conversion to make the score 32-22, with 51 seconds left to go in the game as Jim Taylor caught the football in The end zone on a rocket from Aaron Rodgers!

packnfccg3.thumb.jpg.e7535bb55e39c00dff1f6e42a1890a9b.jpgOMG! In class fashion on the very last play of the game, Washington's Tony Green ran his second 100 yard touchdown of the game back as time ran out and Washington made the score 32-26, in an absolutely spectacular game! Green Bay is going to the Super Bowl XVI, to play Miami and the excitement here is incredible! That was one of the best NFC Championship Games in the Long Island Electric Football League's history! Coach Viggs shook hands with Paddy Brannigan, and raised his fist in the air. We'd take pictures, but many of the guys are in law and they don't want their pictures taken. hey are all fantastic Tony Green finishes the game with 376 yards on kick returns, with two touchdowns. He had incredible runs of 63, 70, 43, 100, and 100! Green also had nine carries for 111 yards rushing with a 37, and 19 yard touchdown runs totaling 496 all-purpose yards, including a 9 yard reception for a first down when Washington needed it most. What an effort by Green! This Washington Football team (7-3), will be back strong next season!

249207217_NFCCGMVPsharpe.thumb.png.69953bd855a83c772eb563136e58317e.pngSterling Sharpe was named the NFC Championship Game MVP for his explosive 100 yard kick return to open the game! He put his name on the map now in the league as the Packers stunned Washington! Sharpe had 319 all-purpose yards in the game with four kick returns for 233 yards and a 100 yard touchdown, and an amazing 75 yard reception for a touchdown to give Green Bay all the offense they needed! to win this game!

After the game, Coach Viggs said, "It's always hard to play against your own team, but I just felt like this was the Packers year, and people have been counting us out all year, but let me tell you something, defense does win football games. Washington's offense is mighty, but the coaches in the league thought we had no offense. We scored 32 points today against a ferocious, fantastic football team, and we really look forward to playing Billy OC's Dolphins tomorrow because they're in for the Battle of their life!  I have not forgotten the losses this team has suffered to Miami in the Super Bowl over the year's. BOC's mom lost the first ever Long Island Super Bowl!  My loss to his Dolphins I didn't think about until today because I want a different rematch! In that 1977 game, Miami beat Green Bay 28-3! Not this time! We won't be silenced!"

Long Island Electric Football League will play Super Bowl XVI tonight at 7pm between Coach Billy O'C's (22-10) AFC Champion Miami Dolphins (8-2) and Coach Ed Viggs (23-11) NFC Champion Green Bay Packers (8-1)! What a monster matchup!

Thank you my brother!  I love the Packers as well!  Should be a terrific game!!!  When we first started I wanted the Pack but lost them to Viggs in a coin flip! They are really improved since last season and his linebackers are beasts!  We'll see!  Green Bay really showed their stuff against Washington and shocked me for sure. Watching them is interesting, they are never the same team.  They adapt to the situation.  Yesterday's game was jaw dropping. I've been practicing quick set ups because this cat moves as fast as a shark!
