As John Madden would say regarding the big ol' lineman and matchups in the trenches, electric football is all about matchups too. This league collects lots of data, as you may have read if you follow the LIEFL, which helps our LIEFL coaches to plan for a game. As we learned way back when we played against and beat, one of the person's selected to play in the premiere World Championships of Electric Football in Chicago, hosted  by Miggle back in 1995, our strategy involved a team which dismantled a weaker opponent, all because of statistical data. We put one of our "Beast's from the East" up against our opponents undefeated Chicago Bears, beating them 21-7, with our LIEF #8 ranked Dallas Cowboys. Emmitt Smith had three touchdowns and over 100 yards rushing in the game. These coaches here, study the data very closely, religiously, and then they come up with a game plan. The Long Island Electric Football League has been doing this for decades, so it usually comes down to execution, or failure to execute when deciding the winner of the game, but the playoffs have taken a whole different turn.

In 2018, OJ Simpson changed the outcome of the game with his pure talent, and the data became history as Buffalo went on the tear up the AFC and eventually the Super Bowl against a weaker Detroit team that season 49-35. The Bills were a good team, who became great and coach Billy O'C used the data against the Cleveland Browns that season when Buffalo embarrassed the Browns 42-14! You never know what to expect!  Over in the AFC Wild Card Game yesterday between Denver and Indianapolis, which Indy won 27-10, we watched the number #1 offense in the LIEFL get dismantled by the #2 defense, the Indianapolis Colts! O'C relied on the data and the matchups.  You don't get that advantage when we play in tournaments because we have no idea who we are playing, but we do know who we are bringing to the war, without tweaks, long game stops, over-sized players, and at times, arrogant people.  We have a uniform standard, paint standard, and strict rules in our league, just like a professionally run organization and just like many leagues around the country. And, we have a huge pay day for the winner so the competition is totally fierce! We have had our battles here on Long Island with other leagues, but in the end, it is all about the matchups and sportsmanship.

Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee and LIEFL game day analyst Andrew Slawson said about LIEFL's first 400 game winner, "Coach Billy O'C is very competitive and he is a planner who doesn't panic or fall into the trash talk pit. He is all class, on the board and off. Win or lose he is going to bring a war to you! So be ready for a game." O'C said, "I do not think I am better than anyone at all, I just like to play the game. When I compete, I am focused and the day of a game everything is synchronized. The General never goes to a battle without a game plan, and even a backup plan in electric football. It becomes a chess match between skillful hobbyists. I respect everyone who plays electric football, and that is the key to the city, building friendships, learning, even teaching great people who share commonality in a game we love."

SEAHAWKS STUN RAMS IN OT THRILLER 51-45 AS LYNCH "BEASTS" FAB FIVE DEFENSE WITH 672 YARD PERFORMANCE!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

December 1, 2020. Los Angeles Coliseum. It's going down as one of the greatest NFC playoff games in the history of the LIEFL as the "Cinderella" Seattle Seahawks find the magic today and the Rams will never look at Seattle's Marshawn Lynch the same after the All-Pro running back exploded on the Rams for 672 unstoppable total yards! Lynch put on a clinic against the defending Super Bowl Champions, sending them back to the locker room to think about next season as the "New Sherriff" in town made this one unforgettable! To add fuel to the fire, Seattle was on the road, at Los Angeles, their division rival, and they do the next to impossible--beat the Rams in OT 51-45, giving Los Angeles an early Christmas gift! One thing is for sure, the Rams won't be headed to Tampa this month!

FIRST HALF OF THE GAME: WRITTEN DURING THE GAME.

Today's game was a huge one for the Seattle Seahawks because this is the second time in franchise history that they have made it to the post season. They have battled every opponent this season, including upsetting the Miami Dolphins 14-10, and the Philadelphia Eagles 21-20, which cost the Eagles a second straight playoff appearance for the tough West Division team. Seattle has proven to be a formidable enemy. But can they beat the two time Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams (6-1)? Coach Paddy Brannigan just lost to Billy O'C's Indianapolis Colts 27-10, AND IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE MATCHUPS AND THE DATA!

After the pregame ceremony these two teams got down to business. And the Rams were ready for their third try at another Super Bowl, but this road won't be easy. Seattle made history here in Long island Electric Football League and we never saw a more serious Billy OC or Paddy Brannigan, who stands 6'4" and weighs 250 pounds.

On the opening kickoff the Super Bowl Champion Rams Isaac Bruce sped to the Rams own 35 yard line. Three plays later running back Wendell Tyler exploded into the end zone from 19 yards away, after two runs of 12 and 34 yards! The Rams are not playing around and they take the early lead 7-0, with 10:28 left to go in the first quarter!

Seattle's running back Marshawn Lynch blasted off with a 43-yard kick return and on first down Lynch had a 10-yard run, which brought the ball to the 47-yard line of the Rams, but the Rams defense kicked in and the "Fab-Five" defense made a huge stop for a 9-yard loss with the tackle made by Deacon Jones the All-Pro. The clock seemed to be moving fast in this game with 6:05 remaining in the first quarter. And after two failed runs by Lynch and company, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson connected with Joey Galloway for a 47-yard touchdown play to tie the game at 7-7! What a play!

To end the first quarter Isaac Bruce ran 46 yards on the kickoff return setting up the Rams offense in good position. On first down, the Seattle Seahawks turned up like monsters and pushed the Rams back five yards as the first quarter came to a close.
ra2.thumb.jpg.c69d0fa3146846761c29d49c40f7405d.jpg
To begin the second quarter, LIEFL-Super Bowl XV MVP Ricky Proehl, broke loose on a third down on a pass from Rams quarterback Jared Goff for a 54-yard touchdown spectacular play! The Rams jumped ahead with the lead 14-7, with 12:12 left to go in the half!

Lynch returned Seattle's next kickoff 52 yards on a beautiful play. On first down, LA defensive All-Pro Deacon Jones gave Marshawn Lynch the hit of his life, nearly knocking Lynch off his feet and Lynch picked up two yards on the play! On an amazing second down play, Lynch found his way around the outside of the line, through a hole for a 45-yard touchdown run into the end zone with 6:58 left to go in the half to stun the Rams defense!  What a play by Lynch as the Seahawks tie the game at 14-14!

On the following kickoff Bruce ran the ball back 63 yards setting up Tyler and the Rams in great field position with 3:21 left to go in the half! On first down Wendell Tyler exploded for a 19-yard run to the Seahawks 18-yard line, and again, Tyler picked up another first down, bringing the ball to the 4-yard line of Seattle as the two minute warning sounded off in an absolute battle! Wendell Tyler scooted into the end zone on the first play of the quarter from four yards out to give the Rams the lead 21-14, with 1:50 left to go and Seattle calls a timeout! What an exciting game as the intensity builds.

The coaches crowd here erupted running back Marshawn Lynch ran back in 81 yard kick return, and Seattle called their last timeout of the half at the Rams 24-yard line with 1:35 left to go in the half! What a play! Holy Cow! On first down, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw a pass to receiver Joey Galloway, who ran 19 yards into the end zone for the score and the Seahawks tied the game 21-21, with 1:20 left to go in the half!

Coach Billy OC has been here many times before, and Coach Brannigan seemed determined to overcome the mind-game coaching! On the kickoff for Los Angeles,  Isaac Bruce, who has not been able to break free all day, ran the ball back 45 yards and he was hit head-on by Seattle fullback Shawn Alexander, and both teams ran out of timeouts at the half with 1:09 remaining on the clock! On a beautiful play to end the half Ricky Prohel again caught a 41-yard pass from Goff, and the Rams kicked the field goal to take the lead 24-21, to end the half. What a great first half of football!

SECOND HALF:

The room erupted to open the third quarter when Seattle's Marshawn Lynch opened with a blazing hundred yard kick return into the end zone for the touchdown! Seattle took the lead over the Super Bowl Champions Billy O'C's Los Angeles Rams 28-24, at 14:42 in the third quarter! The Seahawks are playing these Rams exactly how they need to be played, relentless! Coach Brannigan went wild and the "Lynch-Beast Mode" is back in the West! This game has turned into a dramatic epic battle! Lynch has been very reliable this season and he has carried these Seahawks to where they are at the moment as the #11 All-Purpose player in the NFC this season with 49 carries for 1332 yards, with 11 touchdowns! It's no coincidence that's Seattle's playing the way they are tonight! They've competed against the best teams in the league, but they lost to both Dallas and Washington, two teams them may have to face again should Seattle win this game.

The "Reverend" Isaac Bruce ran back a 54 yarder as the Rams fight the battle of burning time on the clock. The Seahawks are certainly playoff material! They're giving the Rams a run for their money, but Coach Billy O'C is not swaying from his game plan at all, which means he will run the ball until he is comfortable enough to make sure plays in the passing department. O'C admits he is a terrible passer, but knows how to control the clock with the best of them!
ra1.thumb.jpg.adab06450437c454b9698e4c40efed91.jpg
And on first down for the Seahawks, receiver Joey Galloway, who's having an amazing day tackled Tyler in the backfield for an 8-yard loss! On second down the Seattle defense stuffed Tyler again, and on third down LA came up with a big pass play on a 31-yard first down by Goff to Tyler! On first down, Tyler was stopped again at 4:49 left to go in the third quarter. The Seahawks defense has been incredible with LIEFL All-Pro selection, Cortez Kennedy, who led the way as the Rams lose another 20 yards, with third down coming up at midfield at the 50 yard line. Wow! Wow! Wow! On a fury third down, Tyler came up big again, catching a pass from Goff for a 50-yard touchdown connection! The Rams retake the lead 31-28, with 2:23 left to go in the third quarter! What a game this is!

Oh baby! Marshawn Lynch is absolutely on fire! Lynch did it again. He just ran back another scorching 100-yard touchdown return as Seattle takes the lead back 35-31, with 1:46 remaining in the third quarter!

Don't forget, these two teams are division rivals and this has turned into a historic battle! Coach Billy O'C was prepared for this, or was he?  You never know. it's still a close close game but Lynch has been a beast and the Seahawks look like a championship team
With a third quarter coming to a close Isaac Bruce ran back 45 yards on the kick return and Seattle has seemed to figure this game plan out and they've done their homework as we begin the fourth quarter

This is one of the best electric football games we've seen in a very long time. For the youngsters who may watch a game like, this they can learn a lot from Marshawn Lynch who has schooled the Rams. Even Billy O'C complimented coach Brannigan and his squad saying, "Lynch's run was an amazing run" That's what you call class!
phot6seaart.thumb.jpg.b1e5b832a859d1f921ba90434647487a.jpg
On first down, Tyler ran four yards, and on second down Tyler took it 23 yards to the Seattle 32-yard line. The Rams didn't let two big plays phase them at all. They just come right back, but the Seattle defense was relentless and hungry! The winner of this game will be playing the winner of the Washington and Dallas game.

Wow! Tyler, on a stunning play ran the ball to the right side behind a huge block by end Jack Youngblood, and Tyler blazed right into the end zone for a 32-yard touchdown to give the Rams the lead 38-35! What an amazing game again! With 11:51 to go in the game!
136792963_phot2seaart.thumb.jpg.c28cf5505cae399bbc50103a491aabe1.jpg
Lynch is truly unstoppable and on the next kick return he was electrifying with a 77 yard run to the Rams 23 yard line! This is the kind of game that leaves you speechless! This room is in an uproar with excitement, with the making of a possible upset in a game between two professional EFLer's! Seattle is not going to quit today folks! On the next play, Joey Galloway beat out Ricky Prohel on a breakaway catch for a 24-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson! It's Galloway's third touchdown of the game as Seattle takes the lead back, 42-38, with 4:58 remaining in the game! The Seahawks have played some game today.
165535828_photo3seaart.thumb.jpg.e341886b32283d964ec2504ee2f79492.jpg
After Isaac Bruce took back his seventh kick return of the game for 45 yards, on first down Wendell Tyler lost 11 yards trying to run the football as the two minute warning sounded off with 1:44 left to go in the game! Unbelievable game! The clock wound down and the Rams rode the clock to 55 seconds left before they called their last time out with the score 42-38, Seahawks with the lead! The excitement was unbelievable!

On first down with 55 seconds to go in the game Isaac Bruce caught a pass from Goff, and Bruce took it into the end zone on an enormous play by the Rams, as the place erupted again! The Rams took the lead back,45-42, with 36 seconds left and no timeouts remaining for the Rams, but the Seahawks called a time out!

What a sensational demonstration of coaching and playmaking by these electric football figures. Marshawn Lynch still had a chance to tie the game and bring it into overtime for these magical Cinderella-team Seattle Seahawks, and this game could go either way!

Marshawn Lynch wasn't about to lay down and die after the game he has played today. One word describes Lynch's performance today, DETERMINATION!

On the kickoff, Lynch exploded for 60 yards, bringing the Seahawks in scoring range to tie the game, or win it. The Seahawks used their last time out with 21 seconds left to go in the game! On first down, quarterback Russell Wilson connected on a beautiful pass to Marshawn Lynch, who ran for 30 yards, but Lynch ran out of bounds at the 10 and the Seahawks tied the game 45-45, with a 10 yard field goal! We are going into overtime in this NFC Wild Card Game, which has been spectacular show!

Rules Commissioner, Pete Porcelli was on hand for the match-up.  He said, "The overtime rule is, If the team who possesses the football first in overtime scores a touchdown, they win the game, but if they do not, their opponent gets a chance to score, even if the team before kicked a field goal to take the lead in overtime, and that's the key to overtime, scoring a touchdown rather than the field-goal."

And this one is historic! The Seattle Seahawks have taken the two-time defending Super Bowl champions to the brink! Oh my God! The Seahawks win the coin toss in overtime, and the room is going wild! Do we have our first upset in the making in this 2020 Long Island Electric Football League Tournament of Champions?

Overtime:
Marshawn Lynch returned the ball 72 yards in overtime to the 28-yard line of the Rams, and it's not looking good for Billy OC's Rams. We can't ignore what the Seahawks have done here today! They came here ready for an epic battle with the right personnel in place, and more important , they have executed flawlessly! And the Rams stuffed Lynch at the 40 yard line on first down Seattle's going back to the air on second down to try to win this NFC Wild Card Game! These two coaches left it all on the gameboard!

Oh my goodness! We are shocked here! In a major major upset, Seahawks fullback, Shawn Alexander ran a 40-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson into the end zone as the dramatic Seattle Seahawks upset the Los Angeles Rams 51-45!  It is stunning! It is news! It is Unbelievable! And Billy O'C immediately hugged Paddy Brannigan's and gave a handshake as the Rams dynasty is cut short this season in a spectacular and dramatic finish to an amazing season!

With the song, "Unbelievable" playing in the background, Brannigan shouted, "How about those Seahawks, this is the greatest game they've ever played! Booyah baby! I want that money!" That had to feel great for Brannigan, after Brannigan's Denver Broncos lost to Billy O'C's Indianapolis Colts yesterday in the AFC Wild Card Game!
