It is the first time anyone in the world has had an interest in the hobby we love regarding the Long Island Electric Football League, and publicly speaking, this was a special experience for our dynamic league. A special thanks to Tudor Games for allowing the Long Island Electric Football League to conduct it's league through the FORUM!  It has been a great positive experience, and we can only hope, worthy of your interest. While we say this in a playful way, BRING ON THE LIEFL 2020 PLAYOFFS! SO MANY OF YOU HAVE SHARED THE AMAZING interest you have in playing electric football and it is, ... well, electrifying! We appreciate you!

Much has been accomplished this season. We saw some amazing electric football personalities who use this forum, who give a darn about the future of the hobby, long after we are gone. The NEFGM hit us with a game museum, yes a museum that features electric football, it's games, paints, teams, and people just like you and the LIEFL, who have transformed the game! Thank you so much for your passion for the hobby! https://forum.tudorgames.com/profile/78-nefgmorg/

This great game pits two teams who've had a great season, featuring the best back in the game this season in the #7 Seed Denver Broncos (4-3) with Terrell Davis. Davis was announced as the AFC Offensive MVP for the 2020 season yesterday as the All-Pro after he led the Broncos to the Wild Card Game today with 58 carries for 1924 yards, with 15 big touchdowns, 8 of them for 100 yards! He is the #1 ranked running back in the LIEFL, besting Detroit's Dexter Bussey's 55 carries for 1863 yards with 16 touchdowns, with six 100 yarders! What a season for these players! The Broncos named Karl Mecklenberg, Von Miller, and Paul Smith to the Pro Bowl roster! Davis will see the likes of a hard nosed defense in the Indianapolis Colts who announced Linebacker Robert Mathis as an All-Pro along with Joseph Addai, Bubba Smith, and receiver Marvin Harrison!

Today, 400 win coach Billy O'C's Colts play Paddy Brannigan's Denver Broncos in a war. It is not the first two time these two teams have met in a big game. We can go back to one of the best playoff games ever to 1978 Denver played a great playoff tournament beginning with the AFC Wild Card Game, which became historic. It is the only LIEFL playoff game that would end in a tie. Denver tied Cincinnati 7-7, and after beating New England 27-21 in the AFC Divisional Game, They ended up beating Cincinnati in the AFC Divisional Championship Game 35-14, but lost in the AFC Championship Game to Miami, 21-17. Fast forward to the 1984 season, Denver faced these Colts in a war! In the AFC Wild Card Game they beat the Baltimore Colts 33-32 in a stunner! And in the 1992-92 season, Denver beat the Colts 28-21! The cold war began, and this is the first time Denver has made in back since that season. So now that 28 years has passed, the Indianapolis Colts and Billy O'C want revenge!

The opening kick off was so exciting here today with a 55-yard return by Colts running back Joseph Addai, the Colts star running back. On the first set of plays, the Denver Broncos stepped up with defense, but here is the thing. They were ranked dead last in the AFC in defense, and #26th, dead last in the LIEFL in the LIEFL. Going into this game it Billy O'C full well knew to follow the numbers, and that is an example of how important this league becomes when it comes to accurate data. The Colts couldn't seem to get much going on the run with that Denver defense though, as Denver forced the first two plays into the backfield, with third down coming up and 10:09 left to go in the first quarter. And the arch nemesis of Terrell Davis, Joseph Addai, took a pass 43 yards to the Denver 4-yard line for a first down on a terrific play by quarterback Payton Manning! colts5art.thumb.jpg.81302ab90b515a0355d736f204d3761b.jpg

And after a 1-yard run Addai around the outside and into the end zone to give the Colts the lead 7-0, with 6:53 remaining in the quarter!

And now the ball is going to go into the hands of the LIEFL AFC Most Valuable Player this season, Terrell Davis. We will see if Davis has the playoff jitters or if he will rise to the occasion for Coach Brannigan. Davis has been absolutely terrific this year, so we don't expect anything less than somebody who's going to come out here and lead against Indianapolis Colts, especially after beating the Raiders in Las Vegas to clinch a Wild Card spot!

Davis returned the ball 42 yards on the kick return as he faced the number one defense in the AFC and the number two defense in the NFL in Indianapolis.
On first and second down, Davis was pushed back 13 yards by the Colts defense and they went to town on Davis with relentless pursuit, competing hard against a good Denver offensive line. Davis made most of his damage on special teams and kick returns this season. He ranked #6th in the AFC in rushing with 36 carries for 394 yards, with seven touchdowns. Indianapolis wasn't phased. They were relentless with All-Pro Bubba Smith leading the way. Smith was just announced as an All-Pro, and one guy who's not happy that he didn't make the Pro Bowl team is Denver defensive tackle, Reuben Carter, who literally is all over Tony Parker as the first quarter was coming to a close with the teams switching sides at the two-minute warning.  It's going to be a long day for Tony Parker and Denver needs to take advantage of that as the first quarter ended with Indianapolis ahead of Denver, 7-0!

On first down to start the second quarter, the man of the year Davis, was turned back by the Colts defense who dominated and stopped the Broncos from obtaining the first down, and the Colts took over on offense with 14:24 left till the half, and that spelled big trouble for the Broncos!  The Denver defense is what kept them in the game up until this point in the game, with a big first down stop against Addai and the Colts offensive line. On the next running play, quarterback Peyton Manning stepped into the pocket and hit Marvin Harrison for a huge first down, but what a tremendous stop by Neil Smith at the Denver four yard line as the Colts threaten to score again!
434946806_colts3(1)art.thumb.jpg.0b911653ef3d9a069b68ecd5a084434c.jpg
Denver cannot stop this offensive line of the Colts as Addai exploded into the end zone for his second score of the game to make the score 14-0, with 8:13 left to go in the half! The Indianapolis Colts are warming up!

On Denver's next possession, Indianapolis began sinking the Denver Broncos dreams quickly, as they stopped Davis and the Denver offense on three straight plays, forcing a fourth down and the Broncos couldn't do anything but punt with 1:46 left to go in the half! Wow! Terrell Davis has been completely shut down, which is not anything new for big time players who have a great regular season, but then don't handle the playoffs well. On the opposite end of the spectrum the Colts and Joseph Addai have been here before. Addai had a sensational AFC Wild Card Game last year with over 560 yards and four touchdowns in the Colts win over the Raiders 38-34!

On the kick return, Addai blazed back 64 yards on the kickoff return and Indianapolis called their first time out of the game before the end of the first half. Indianapolis would like to go into the locker room ahead 17-0, if they possibly could, and somehow Denver is going to have to figure it out at the half, but it will be very tough to come back from this one as Addai picked up 22 yards on the first down, bringing the ball to the Denver 19 yard line. The Colts call another time out and use their last time out of the half. There are four total time outs in the LIEFL, two for each half.

This game is certainly not the game we expected. We expected some fireworks between the two running backs, but the Colts defense who've allowed only 64 points the entire season, are playing the ball on both sides and dominating a very good Denver Broncos football team! What a play by the Colts on third down. Manning connected with a wide open Raymond Berry as Berry breaks away for a 19-yard touchdown play to put the Colts up 21-0, with 25 seconds left to go in the half, and Denver called a timeout.

Indianapolis came up with 21 unanswered points! The defense has played large for these Colts, but not only can they play defense they have an outstanding offense. And on the last kick return of the half Davis ran the ball back 47 yards, and the Broncos go into the locker room trying to figure this team out!

colts6art.thumb.jpg.53b5611802392a20e0f7b45e911b0c64.jpg
To start the third quarter running back Terrell Davis returned the football 43 yards, but on the five carries that he has run so far, Davis has not a single yard. The Broncos needed a big play, anything to get them back into the game as they chewed the clock up with 6:20 left to go in the third quarter. Davis was repeatedly stopped by this Colts line of Bubba Smith, Elmer Collett, and Quentin Nelson! Davis has gained only two yards in nine attempts. On second down the Broncos decided to air it out. Shannon Sharpe caught a beautiful pass on a cross pattern route from Denver quarterback John Elway, and Sharpe made his second big first down of the game, taking the ball to the Indianapolis 18-yard line with 5:10 remaining in the third quarter. Coach Billy OC so far has put the perfect game plan together for his Colts, and when it comes to the big games O'C lives for them, as the two-minute warning wound down the third quarter to a near close with a score 21-0, Indianapolis is in the lead!

These Colts certainly deserve a hat tip for stopping Terrell Davis. They've basically silenced his game and shut off any opportunity for the Broncos to create holes in the trenches. That's very difficult to do in this league, as Indianapolis linebacker Robert Mathis, made the next tackle, making a huge hit on Davis, forcing Denver to kick a 35 yard field goal to make the score, 21-3! Finally the Broncos are on the scoreboard, but Coach Brannigan is not happy.

And the Colts call a timeout with 30 seconds left to go in the third quarter. To end the third quarter, Joseph Addai blazed back on the kick return for 67 yards, putting Indianapolis in great field position! The Colts have dominated on both sides of the ball, with some great coaching and play calling by Billy O'C. Nobody likes to see a team get beaten like this but it's not so much the line game that is so interested, but the the strategy behind Billy OC's game plan is what opens eyes. He has taken advantage of every single mistake that Brannigan has made, and we're off to the fourth quarter with Addai running for two yards to the Denver 30 yard line.

Again, Addai picked up a first down at the Denver 23 as the Colts threaten to score. There is no quit in Brannigan and the Broncos today. They're just being beat by a better electric football team who haven't been to the playoffs in 28 years! Denver has some work to do. The Colts are on a different mission. It's taking them quite a bit of time to get here but they've improved just a little bit each season, and now O'C has them where he coached them to be, but perhaps the biggest surprise of all is shutting down the best runner in the AFC. The Colts will have to take on the winner of the Jets and the Chargers!

After being stopped on third down, the Colts decided to go for three to make the score 24-3, with 8:41 left to go in the game!

On the ensuing kick return, Davis blew the doors off of the Colts with an 80 yard return, and for the first time today, Davis showed a little magic! On the Broncos first run, Davis was stopped with just 5:15 remaining in the game. On second down, he took the ball to the 13-yard line on a very nice run for a gain of seven yards with Elmer Collett coming up with his third big hit of the game as Terrell Davis ran for the first down to the seven yard line with the clock running down to 3:22 remaining in the game, and the Colts are not even calling a timeout. They let the clock run down, and Brannigan called no time out either.

And the game came down to the two minutes warning with the final two minutes of play and the Broncos were forced to pass again in order to stay alive.  Finally, the Broncos Shannan Sharpe, made a big play for Denver catching a 15 yard touchdown pass in the end zone to make the score 24-10, Indianapolis in the lead!

On the last kick return for Addai, he ran the ball back 65 yards to bring this game to a close as the Colts ran the clock out and kicked another field-goal to make the score 27-10! And the Colts advance to the AFC Divisional Game to play the winner of the New York Jets (4-3) and the Los Angeles Chargers (6-1)!
1769643826_december1.jpg.76f5085e50b07ae7006e9b62a6c81d3a.jpg
Coach Billy OC made this Broncos team look like they never had a chance. He said, "The Broncos had a great season, and it is just a matter of time that they come back stronger than ever. We were well prepared for this game, and now we have to be ready for the Chargers or Jets, so I am going to watch that game on Wednesday. We have to be working on all cylinders to beat either of them."

Thanks so much!  WOW! That Titans game will be a great one! The coaching will matter in the big games as you know! Packers have an awesome coach, and defense does win games. They will have their hands full with Detroit and or Carolina for sure!  I am going to email you later and give you details about some game boards we have so that we can send one.  We think what you are doing for electric football is just amazing!  Much respect!
