Meteor won the coin flip and elected to receive.

The Meteor first run from scrimmage picked up 12 yards and a first down. Then on the next play Baja Blast Outside Linebacker #49 brought the hammer down. You'll want to watch this hit a couple times. Meteor TB#49 was jolted backwards a yard. The series ended in a punt.

The Baja Blast easily won the 2024 Expansion Draft Tournament by a score of 46 to 24. The Baja Blast beat the Meteor Storm in the second game of the Tournament and the Baja Blast made it very clear that was no accident.

Why the lopsided score? What was the difference? The first reason is that the Baja Blast are a significantly faster team. The Third Quarter Onside Kick tells the whole story.

The Baja Blast MVP was Outside Linebacker #49 and he was the second reason the Baja Blast dominated this Championship Game. OLB #49 had 3 tackles for Lost Yardage and 2 QB Sacks. I'll post #49 highlights a bit later. The Outside Linebackers of the Baja Blast (OLB #55 had two QB sacks and one sack was for a safety) took away the Meteor Power Sweeps and that forced the Meteor to lean on an ineffective inside running game.

Some of you may have seen the QB sacks and said, "Gee Wally I thought you used Stop Forward Progress Tackling?" And I do.

I conducted the QB Sack Survey and everyone who participated in the survey said that when the defender touches the QB the QB is sacked. No one was buying my throwing off the back foot reasoning.

So I gave in to Peer Pressure and gave it a try. 😃👍 I think I'll try it again in my next Tournament.

If I take QB sacks out of the MVP equation the Baja Blast outside linebackers still pummeled the Meteor tailbacks for -23 yards and that made the difference.

I turned up the Speed Control. 

Also, I noticed that the really fast players weren't careening sideways and falling down. Might be a silver lining.
