Measuring a players strength?

  1. 1. How do you measure a players strength?

    • Head-to-head pushing contest. The stronger player will push the weaker player backwards.
      3
    • A weight pushing contest. The player who pushes the most weight is the strongest.
      1
    • Neither of the above. I created my own metric.

I usually pull both tight ends to block the edge rushers, set all the offensive line to block toward the weak side, and then let: A. the tailback run into the gap, or B. the QB run into the gap. The gap should open between the strong side tackle and where the strong side tight end was before he pulled out. This is my version of the misdirection play.

Since you're playing solitaire, can there really be any "misdirection" since surely you already know what is going on?

Indeed. Little plastic peeps can't think but they must obey Physics. It's the law.

The Defensive End 'should' seal the edge but the Defensive End is being persuaded by Physics, i.e. the offensive line vibrating in the opposite direction. I use Stop Forward Progress tackling so the Safety may stick around but most of the time the Safety simply follows the Tight End into the back field. Like this example from a recent game:

If the Safety does stick around the Safety has to stop the Forward Progress of the Tailback coming right at him. One-on-one. Mano y mano. Over 5 grams of Tailback traveling at 2 inches per second hitting the 5-gram Safety who is also traveling at 2 inches per second.  💥

The impact is glorious. And I have absolutely no idea which little plastic peep will prevail.

So, in conclusion, I do know the play and I set up the defensive to stop the play, but I don't know the outcome of the impact. 🔮 C'est la vie.

Right you are! I shoulda known. Thanks for taking valuable time out of your day to post such a detailed video. I especially liked the slow motion!
