Setting up pass patterns

So, like Coach T43, I got the TAP kit. Mainly because I was temporarily stopping my style of play to get used to TAP rules that are to be used at TudorCon. Once that is over, I intend to go back to my style of play that is very similar to Coach T43’s philosophy. I will be using dice then. That style of play is one that excites me and after 50+ years of Electric Football, and all the experiments in styles, when I happened upon Coach T43’s rules, it was a Eurika! moment. Doesn’t make it right or wrong. Just right for me.
Interestingly enough, Coach T43 continues to tinker with his format, searching for the elusive perfect game. I don’t know what that will look like, but I’ll stay tuned for the entertainment value. He is a true EF mad scientist!

If I can touch the hem of the garment of some of you coaches, I will consider my years in this hobby well spent!

I know I'm way late to this thread and probably off base as well, since I only play solitaire, but I use as multi-stop system.  This allows my players to run precise pass patterns with sharp cuts.  I pivot receivers to make the cuts and defensive backs and linebackers to react to the receivers' moves.  I use preset pass plays, which I have drawn out on 3x5 cards (about 100 different plays) that rotate through the stack of cards and which show the route for each receiver in the formation (including backs if they are not blocking).  Each play shows a primary receiver and at least one secondary receiver.  If the primary receiver is open, the QB must throw to him.  If the primary is covered, and the secondary receiver is open, the QB must throw to the secondary receiver.  If both are covered, the QB can throw to any of the other open receivers.   The QB can scramble only if no receiver is open.  A receiver is only considered open if a defender is not touching his base.  I use zones, man to man, press, and bump and run coverages in the secondary.  I also pass with the TTQB (I like the idea of participating in the play).  I have been using this system for about 55 years and am quite happy with it.  🙂
