  2. The first game of the 2024 Expansion Draft is today (March 5).

    2024ExpansionDraft.thumb.png.d46247c164f5a581a2b939291a10e213.png

    The eight teams are:

Led Zeppelin's Angels of Avalon, AMC's Trans-Am Javelins, Hyperion's Meteor Shower, Mt. Dew's Baja Blast, David Bowie's Diamond Dawgs, Metallica's Metallians, Wales' Walsh Dragons, and Inspector Clouseau's Pink Panthers.

    100_4014.png.99d1909650e0ebf3538b0dc4a5976643.png

NONE of the Chicken-Leg single-clips*  were tweaked before I bought them. Each team has 23 players for a total of 184 players. Some of the teams like the Baja Blast and the Pink Panther are new teams. Other teams like the Meteor Storm and Metallians were old teams that received new paint. All of the teams received new helmets and new Team Boxes, except the Walsh Dragons. The Walsh Dragons use the Tudor pre-painted Union Jacks and have won two Fruit Bowls with Tudor Blue/Red Convention Bases and with ITZ dark blue CL-2 bases.

    100_4023.png.1957195586d50bca3ce6423ed47bcb9c.png

The basic rules for the 2024 tournaments are the same as for the 2023 tournament**. Stop-Forward-Progress tackling, minimum weight of 5 grams, stacking is allowed on offense and defense up to 2-deep, and dice will be used for passing. Each team has two QBs and each QB will have his own dice.

There will be a change in dice passing for the 2024 season. The offense will roll a D10 and the defense will roll a D6. The rule change is intended to increase the number of interceptions per game.

    The opening game will feature:

    100_4016.png.f0ebfcca97cce36252d824fe9f1ee8aa.pngAngels of Avalon

    AND

    100_4017.png.80c541638e813ab37f589ed9e536ef52.pngTrans-Am Javelins

If you're thinking the Trans-Am Javelins look remarkably like the Christmas Spirit from last year — they are. There's still a Christmas Spirit team and they are riding on the same Tudor Red Convention Bases, but the plastic figures have a more Christmas-oriented green and gold color scheme.

This double-elimination tournament is very exciting for me because I don't have a clue how 184 little plastic peeps will function individually, and as teams. I just spent the last two months tweaking and painting these plastic peeps so it goes without saying: I love them — win or lose.

    Enjoy the Journey    T43    🏈♾️

What make this game difficult?  Being a Packers fan, of course.

Then take the real Green Bay Packers out of the equation. The real teams aren't at your house right now and aren't you glad? 😉

Think of the little plastic peeps as your children. 👶 You tweaked everyone one of those bases. You've watched players on all your teams grow into confident, consistent EF players. You were there for all of their firsts. No absentee father — no, not you!

You've done your best to train them. Now it's time for you to step back and run the power switch. The team that executes the best will win the game.

I think, just maybe, Coach Jayethekxxng was firing the plastic catapult in both cases. Am I right? If yes then the interceptions are on Jayethekxxng's shoulders.

So, I think I would throw out passing as a criteria.

That leaves rushing yards as the real criteria. Which QB is the strongest? Which QB is the most consistent at picking up yards on scrambles?

Finally, I believe you go home with the QB who brought you to the big dance.

  8. Hi Coach DimeGuy.

So I think I've figured out the top row, left to right.

Ohio State away — Ohio State home — LSU away

    Second row, left to right

University of Michigan home  — University of Michigan away — Georgia Home

    Third row, left to right

    ?    —    ?     — Georgia away

    How'd I do?

Every single ITZ base was literally annihilated by a single Tudor's TTC base that was in the LIEFL draft. Literally the resistance was horrible. We believed that the ITZ was the new wave of competition, but after our LIEFL third round TTC draft pick for the upcoming season destroyed every ITZ player base,  in this case they caved and were a total bust. We gave the bases away already and wish we could get our money back. They won't be playing in this high performance vetted league.  Statistically, we would have to buy hundreds to find a few powerhouses, and at that price, it isn't worth it. That's not to say you may find a few great bases, but to us, they are not worth their weight in gold and they are way overpriced.

I have four teams that ride ITZ bases and you've given me the strength to throw them way.  Thank you so much.

ITZ bases aren't strong they simply have a high coefficient of friction. The Starter bases are the worst.

    I like the penalty idea!

How do the coaches do recruiting?

For me recruiting is a visit to the Tudor web page, or the ITZ page, or most likely eBay to buy new bases and players.

The player bases seem to take on a personality of their own players seem to have my own sometimes I'm sure you guys agree. Sometimes  we ask ourselves how the heck did that guy do that. So many times we try to predict what the player is going to do and they do just the opposite. That's what makes this hobby so amazing. Love reading and learning from all of you. Levi

Exactly. The player / base combination has a personality, not like people have personality, but characteristics that make the game more enjoyable.

  13. Hi Coach Jayethekxng and welcome to Tudor's Forum.

Nine teams is great!  I have 21 teams.

    4 hours ago, Jayethekxng said:

i would like to add my main reason for having coaches is because they play a big part in how your team plays(schemes) and how they recruit. coaches get recruiting points based off of how well they’re doing and can give out 15 scholarships per season. championship teams get 17 scholarships and coaches are subject to being fired no one is safe in this league😂👍

In your league how do coaches on the sideline interact with players on the field to make the game more interesting?

I've thought about using a dice throw that provides inspiration points that can be used at key moments in the game but I've never implemented the idea.

I agree with Coach Shawn, beautiful pass.

    would you go higher?

    Higher.

Weight X Speed = momentum.  Speed is capped by the motion generator so to get more momentum a coach needs more weight.

Remember this thought problem from Drivers' Education Class?

Little plastic Peep A weighs 10 grams and is moving at 10 mph. 🏃‍♂️

Little plastic Peep B weighs 11 grams and is moving at 10 mph. 🏃‍♂️

Which one hits harder, Peep A or Peep B? 🤔

Increase momentum and decrease friction, and then Enjoy in the Journey.   T43.   🏈♾️

in checkers, every piece is exactly the same (not unlike communism)

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is a slogan popularised by Karl Marx in 1875.

The pieces aren't exactly the same. Some little plastic peeps need more weight than others. 1 screw, 1 washer, and 1 nut isn't enough. You have to add that second washer. Maybe even a third washer, but I'm pushing the limits of Theater of the Mind. 😉

Now I realize some coaches might consider that nut sticking up above the platform to be detrimental to the ambience of electric football, 😜 but the added performance is well worth the distraction. I don't even notice the little nuts. 🔩

  16. Round-Front vs Flat-Front blocking.

Back on July 20, 2023 Coach Collins asked a question very similar question to Coach BlueHen's question.

I created a video for Coach Collins to illustrate my blocking schemes.

My bottom line is that I don't see much difference between the blocking, or attack, of round-front bases and flat-front bases.

There is a misconception that a flat-front is akin to a snow plow on the base. This is obviously true on big snow plow trucks but electric football peeps are moving up and down (vibration) and only forward as a byproduct of vibration. The poor little peeps are bouncing into each other and then bouncing left and right helter skelter.

In the videos plastic peeps consistently reach a stalemate and then one player turns sideways and pushes the whole jumbled mess in that direction.

I would encourage every coach to attempt the same experiments and post their results.

There is definitely a difference from one player to another and not all offensive lineman are good at every type of blocking scheme. A powerful left tackle (as illustrated in the first two video clips) is essential.

It (the weight) should all be up to the individual coach in my humble opinion...

Agreed as long as the coach is playing solitaire. In tournament play there has to be mutually agreed upon rules otherwise it really isn't fair.

Perhaps there could be a Bantamweight division (under 4 grams), Featherweight Division (4 to 6 grams), Welterweight Division (7 to 9 grams) , and a Heavyweight Division (over 9 grams). Tournaments could crown four champions.

However, I doubt there are enough EF hobbyists to make that sustainable.
