  1. LIEFL T O U R N A M E N T O F C H A M P I O N S RAIDERS GIVE COLTS A GAME FALLING JUST SHORT OF TIME IN 35-28 WILD CARD LOSS! Before the kickoff the excitement was in the air in this game between the Las Vegas Raiders (4-3) and the Indianapolis Colts (6-1). This game was all that! On the opening kickoff as expected, Joseph Addai plowed his way to a 50-yard kick return before he was met by Lyle Alzado who made the stop at midfield. It only took one play for the Colts offense to get into the endzone. On a gorgeous run to the right side of the Raiders defense Joseph Addai ran a 50-yard touchdown scamper to take the lead, 7-0 Colts. The Raiders were just as impressive! Dave Casper ran back a 45 yard kick return to open Las Vegas first drive. The Raiders offensive line impressed with Bo Jackson running for one, 16, two, four, and finally at 32 yard run into the end zone to tie the score at 7-7, as the first quarter came to a close! Las Vegas came to play as the first half came to a close! RAIDERS 7 COLTS 7 To open the second half Joseph Addai returned a 56-yard kickoff and he was smashed again by Lyle Alzado for the second time in the game, but one play later the Indianapolis Colts offensive line did their job once again pulling to the left and finding a hole for Addai to blast through the Las Vegas defense for a 49 yard run downfield and into the end zone to give the Colts the lead 14-7, with 12:24 remaining in the half. Great execution by the Colts! The first half came to a close but the coaches in the room were stunned by the Raiders play calling by Coach Kevin Mack who executed a great game. RAIDERS 7 COLTS 14 On the next Las Vegas kick return, Dave Casper returned a weak kick 37-yards to set up Bo Jackson. On first down, Jackson exploded 59-yards to the 4-yard line, paving the way for Dave Casper to take a four-yard touchdown catch in for the score to tie the game 14-14, and the Raiders impressed again in the running game. What a tremendous competitive game between these two coaches, way better than expected. RAIDERS 14 COLTS 14 On the ensuing kickoff for the Colts Joseph Addai was stopped at the 37-yard line of Indianapolis. One play later Addai ran for a 31-yard first down, forcing the Colts to call their first time out. On their next play Addai was stopped by a tough Las Vegas defense, forcing the Colts again to use their last time out. On the next play, Colts receiver Raymond Berry broke Free for a 37-yard touchdown catch to give the Colts the advantage 21-14 over the Raiders, with 1:14 remaining in the first half, and the Raiders were forced to call their second time out. With time running out in the second quarter, Dave Casper ran a swift 32-yard kick return, but he was tackled by Raymond Berry on the kickoff. The Raiders ran out of time ending the first half with the score Colts 21 Raiders 14. RAIDERS 14 COLTS 21 H A L F The Raiders opened the second half with a 60-yard kick return by Dave Casper setting up Las Vegas running back Bo Jackson who's had a great day rushing. Jackson had 114-yards in the first half including a 32-yard touchdown run. On his first run of the second half Jackson ran for 15 yards, but then he was stopped on three straight plays by the Colts hard hitting defense. On 4th down, the Raiders went for the first down and a wide open Tim Brown ran a 25-yard touchdown Play into the end zone to tie the score at 21-21, with 6:21 left in the third quarter. It's a tight game and both teams are playing outstanding! Wow! The Colts beat the clock up in the third quarter after a 47 yard kick return by Joseph Addai the Raiders defense stopped Addai on his first two runs. Coach Bino decided to air it out striking receiver Marvin Harrison on a 60-yard strike! Harrison exploded down the right side of the field into the end zone to give Indianapolis the lead 28-21 to end the third quarter! What a play! RAIDERS 21 COLTS 28 The Raiders had a lot more in the tank, opening the 4th quarter with a 43-yard kick return by Dave Casper. On first down Bo Jackson was unstoppable as he ran for another first down, 12 yards. On second down, Jackson exploded through the middle of the field for 45 yard touchdown scamper to tie the score 28-28 with 11:37 remaining in the game. The Raiders have been unbelievable in the running attack. Surprise! RAIDERS 28 COLTS 28 When the Colts got the ball back they worked on killing the clock with Joseph Addai with the Indianapolis offense controlling the ground game. Addai returned the football 43 yards. On first down, It was Addai again, this time running for a 30-yard run for the first down. On the next set of downs Addai had six runs totaling 18 yards, bringing the ball to the 9-yard line of the Raiders. The Raiders were forced to use both of their timeouts. Bino went to one of his two gems at receiver. Raymond Barry came up big again! On third down Berry caught a 9-yard touchdown pass to give the Colts the lead 35-28 with 22 seconds remaining in the game with no timeouts left for the Raiders. Las Vegas tried to hurry up the offense to give Dave Casper One More Chance, but they could not make it happen. The Raiders (4-4), lose the AFC Wild Card Game 35-28, to the Colts in a great game! RAIDERS 28 COLTS 35 The Indianapolis Colts (7-1) plays the winner of Miami and Buffalo game! The Raiders can be proud of a valiant effort! They played beautiful this year and they will be back next year for more. The surprise of the day was the Colts receiving game who they've been hiding all season long and that shows you weapons the Colts have. Unleashing them today won the Indianapolis Colts the game! Colts LIEFL All-Pro Joseph Addai finished the game with 15 touches for 411 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns! He had 10 rushes for 178 yards, and five kick returns for 233 yards! Raiders running back Bo Jackson rushed for 186 yards on 15 carries against a very good defense!
  2. Long Island EFL T O U R N A M E N T OF C H A M P I O N S AFC WILD CARD GAME #7 Las Vegas Raiders (4-3) at #2 Indianapolis Colts (6-1) (Long Island Electric Football League). December 20, 2023. Written by Levi Vick. PRE GAME: AFC Wild Card Game. After looking at the numbers of the top 10 playmakers in each category for rushing, all-purpose yards, kick return yards, and receiving yards, the Long Island Electric football league has elected it's offensive and defensive player of the year award, which will be announced shortly. The top dogs to choose from were Priest Holmes of the Chiefs, Joseph Addai from the Colts, Jay Brown from the Bills, and Julio Jones from the Falcons. Those were the four most productive players in each category of the LIEFL at their position. When looking at the number two and three players at each position it's incredible. The competition is brewing in the LIEFL. The .#7 Las Vegas Raiders have to be one of the most surprising teams in the tournament for the AFC. after getting off to a shaky start, the Raiders have been in the battle all year after their opening day loss to the Denver Broncos 17-3. What happened since then? Coach Kevin Mack said, "Dave Casper is my guy. He is the guy who is the playmaker! When he sees openings its over! We can play with anyone in the league and I will do more passing against Indianapolis because you just know that Joseph Addai is the best offensive player in the league, so stopping him is impossible." As far as Las Vegas goes, never count them out regardless of how the team plays because the single most explosive player for the Raiders is Dave Casper. The Raiders running game has been suspect for the undersized 67-Big Men, but Casper ran back a 99 yard play on the Raiders last drive to beat the tough Detroit Lions in the season finale 17-14! That's how Las Vegas got herte. Casper finished that game against the Lions with three touches for 232-yards, but not only that, Casper is dangerous. He finished the season Ranked #3 in AFC all-purpose yards with 27 touches for 1471 yards with six touchdowns, including three 100-yard returns! one of the leaders in the AFC in all purpose yards, and in kick return yards he was the #2 AFC Ranked player with 21 returns for 1323 yards with three 100-yard touchdown returns! But now the Raiders are on to a different beast and the AFC Wild Card Game. Stopping Joseph Addai will be just as hard for the Raiders as stopping 8X-LIEFL All-Pro Dave Casper will be for the #2 Indianapolis Colts. It will be a SHOW because both of these teams are spectacular on special teams, which is where the game is expected to-p/0 be won. The Colts however, have established a great running attack which the Raiders will be challenged to stop. The Colts are different this year because they can run, pass, and their special teams has proven to be one of the best in the AFC. Addai finished #3 in AFC Rushing with 43 rushes for a boastful 539-yards with 12 smashing touching runs! The Colts defense ranked #6 in the LIEFL and the Raiders finished #22 in the league. We will see how they do against the #3 Ranked offense in the LIEFL. That is where the Raiders finished strong. They finished #5 in the LIEFL on offense, so this is a game that has to be exploited by the workhorses in the end. It will be how Addai performs in the big game versus how one of the all-time greats in 2008 LIEFL Super Bowl XI MVP Dave Casper performs in the big game! LIEFL All-Pro Joseph Addai has been a workhorse for the Colts! It is time for these Colts to prove that they're a next-level EFL elite team. This is their chance to rise to the occasion in the AFC and find ways to win in the big games. This isn't Coach Billy O'C coaching. Coach Joe Bino said,"I might surprise some of the mouths in this league with my play. Addai is a beast, and we are looking at this game from a different vantage point. I'm going to feed them, arguably, the best player in the league, all day long, and let's see what happens." In other great AFC playoff action, a colossal matchup between the #3 Buffalo Bills (5-2) and #6 Miami Dolphins (5-2) will be a full-house of coaches at that game. Other games include the #4 Denver Broncos (6-1) who will play the #5 Baltimore Ravens (3-4), and the winner of that game plays the #1 Los Angeles Chargers, while the winner of the Buffalo-Miami game will play these Colts or the Raiders in the AFC Divisional Game. The Raiders might be the weakest team in the AFC bracket, but they're also one of the most dangerous. KICKOFF:

  5. (Long Island Electric Football League) Written By Levi Vick and Joey Pizz. One of our greatest traditions is the 67-Big Man LIEFL-Pro *Bowl Game. Sure, it has no meaning to anyone but us, but the meaning is that these are the players who are voted on by the LIEFL coaches to compete against the best players in the league. It is difficult to pick a best 11 starters for this game, and it is the only game we play that features as many as 35 players on the Pro Bowl roster for each squad. Teams with the best records usually got to the playoffs for a reason. So the best picks usually dominate the roster from those elite teams. Some of these players outplayed the league, and then there are those who dominated in big games. Every year we seem to see a few players who dominate no matter what the schedule. Atlanta's Gerald Riggs is one of those. And, who could forget the All-Everything Player who dominated the league, Ahmad Bradshaw, last year's Pro Bowl MVP! Introducing our 2023 Pro Bowl Lineups! The reserves will be on the roster on game day. Game Date: December 29, 2023 at 6pm. Coaches will be the AFC-NFC Championship Game Finalists. 10. 2023 L I E F L T O U R N A M E N T O F C H A M P I O N S (Long Island Electric Football League) Written By Levi Vick. The 2023 Long Island Electric Football League Playoffs are set! The Top-Gun's in the league are the Los Angeles Chargers(6-1) and the unbeaten Washington Redskins (7-0), both Coach Ed Viggs teams. If the chance arises that both of these teams make it to a Super Bowl, Viggs asked Billy O'C to play with the Chargers if he needed him, but O'C declined because he feels he is too rusty for that responsibility. Imagine, O'C turned down a chance to make $3200 dollars? The playoff bracket is set for the LIEFL-Tournament of Champions which will begin on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, with some very exciting matchups! Who will be the 2023 Champion? If you follow the league, let us know what you think. The best 11-67 Big Men from each team of 352 LIEFL players have completed another regular season. Typically the LIEFL season ends in a smashing Week #7! Well this one ended with an unbelievable bang! It has been a great privilege sharing our 7th completed regular season games with you on the Forum after playing ten 14-game seasons, and we appreciate your responses so much. As promised we will do playoff and Super Bowl write-ups and this week's seventh game summary. LIEFL Commissioner Billy O'C said, "I missed playing this season, but this Yankees documentary B A T B O Y, The Ray Negron Story, that I created, must get done. I think it will be a winner. We now have Chazz Palminteri (A Bronx Tale) as Executive Producer, and we want this in the Tribeca Film Festival this Summer, so it is a sensational story that has to be completed and told. I've dedicated three years of my life to this documentary. The gem is the magic of Ray, and his life and how he evolved to be the confidant to arguably, one of the most iconic figures in all of sports, "The Boss" George M. Steinbrenner III! The gripping life of Negron and his experiences through his mentors, is a story people will never forget. Ray has been good to this league. That, in addition to my teaching responsibilities is enough to handle. I completed all of the interviews and the story line which feature many sports stars. We are just editing away now. I have been working hard completing interviews featuring Reggie Jackson, Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Thurman Munson's wife Diana Munson, Bucky Dent, Chris Chambliss, Billy Martin Jr., the list is endless and the doc is star-studded. And, I am not even a Yankees fan." Sunday at noon, in the AFC Wild Card Game, it will be the Las Vegas Raiders (4-3) hosted by the Indianapolis Colts (6-1), and at 4pm in the NFC Wild Card Game it will be the Chicago Bears (4-3) at the Los Angeles Rams (6-1)! Two great games, coaches and teams! The Raiders have battled hard, but can they stop Colts running back Joseph Addai? Is this Addai's year? With former LIEFL-Super Bowl XI MVP Dave Casper in the mix for Las Vegas, don't count on anything. The Raiders have been resourceful, but they lost to Denver, Buffalo, and Miami. So who will show up against the Colts is anyone's guess. The Rams have all the weapons they need to beat the Bears, but the coaches contend they had a weak schedule filled with struggling teams. Analyst and Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Andrew M. Slawson said, "The reason why the Rams will beat the Bears in this game is experience, but alternate Coach Joe Bino, filling in for Billy O'C has coached great, and I think he has his edge on this season. He can pass better than O'C, run, and his sophisticated defensive schemes give him a slight advantage. This may not be the same Los Angeles team that won back-to-back Super Bowls in LIEFL-Super Bowl's XIV, and XV, but if Isaac Bruce and Wendell Tyler are on, it can be a runaway for Los Angeles if Bino plays his cards right. Bino has the Bills, Dolphins, Rams and Colts all in the playoffs. That is a lot of planning, and Miami and Buffalo will play in the Wild Card Game, so Viggs will play with Buffalo, and Bino will play with Miami." TONY GREEN AND VIGGS UNBEATEN REDSKINS (7-0) MAKE DOUBLE HISTORY IN 35-31 WASHINGTON WIN! Redskins (6-0) - Giants (3-3) The Washington Redskins took the LIEFL season by storm after a strong 2022 showing. Today's game ranks as one the best in LIEFL History! It was a game we will never forget! Week #7 was ferocious with teams brutally battling to make the playoffs. We saw the Bills (5-2) win the AFC East beating the Dolphins (5-2), 13-7 in OT, the Panthers clinched the third seed in the NFC with their upset over the Texans, 17-10, the Broncos (6-1) upset a very tough and competitive Patriots (3-4), 21-17, and the Colts (6-1) crushed the Titans 24-13, and this game, which was better than a playoff game! It was like a mini-Super-Bowl. It was quite a different game than the Giants 17-6 loss to the Redskins way back in Week #1. The standard is high in the league, nd every game is a war. Regardless of their records, every team in this league is competitive. The battle-vibe is strong by the coaches in the league! Even Bobby Biggs conceded that he loved competing in the league finally. Tensions were high between coaches, and the intensity is real! The highlight of Week #7 was between Coach Ed Viggs unbeaten Washington Redskins, who remain undefeated at (7-0) playing at the New York Giants, and Coach Joey Pizz' Giants (3-4). This offensive game in 30-minutes produced an explosive 66 points, over 900-yards, and nine touchdowns in the game, five of them by Redskins superstar Tony Green! Giants LIEFL 2022 Offensive PLayer of the Year, Ahmad Bradshaw and Green were beyond impressive. This tandem combination made for a LIEFL Classic! It became not only the game of the week, but the game of the year, and one of the best classics between two division rivals that we've ever witnessed. Joey Pizz Giants battled right to the last second of the game, but it was Tony Green and Ed Viggs Washington Redskins that would prevail in the Redskins 35-31 victory to kick off the postseason! Anytime Coach Viggs and Coach Pizz compete, you know it's going to be a great game, and this game was no different! Both of these teams are playing high calibur electric football. Viggs Skins are out for blood, especially playing on the road giving the Giants home field advantage, but this quickly became a battle for the ages. With mind-blowing plays Tony Green and Ahmad Bradshaw brought it all! After three first half 100-yard touchdown returns by Redskins Tony Green, we wouldn't believe it if we weren't here watching it happen. Like figures who have come to life in a Toy Story movie, these skilled players went back and forth with some of the most amazing offensive plays of the season! The game kicked off with a 100-yard touchdown return by Ahmad Bradshaw! We knew this would be an entirely different game compared to the first meeting this season between these two teams after that blazing Bradshaw run, 7-0 Giants! Bradshaw brought his "A" game as he's done all season long. He finishes this season with some big numbers with 23 touches for 1,367 all-purpose yards, with five 100-yard touchdown returns! He is the Giants Captain, and heart-and-soul of the New York offense, and one of the most electrifying players in the league. Brawling right back was the Redskins though, after Tony Green whizzed by the Giants defense with his own 100-yard touchdown on the ensuing kickoff to tie the game at 7-7! Green is a workhorse, but the Redskins have lots of weapons, and this game is their biggest challenge so far because the game is on the road. Boom! On the next New possession, Ahmad Bradshaw ran another great kick return for 51-yards. This time the Giants did what they do best, play teamwork football. On first down, Shaquon Barkley ran for a 34-yard first down, and then he was stuffed by the Washington defense led by Dave Butz. Two plays later, Barkley scored on a five-yard dash to give the Giants the lead 14-7, in a very fast paced game! The Redskins wasted no time ... It was running back Tony Green's turn again. In another electrifying runback, Green took it 100-yards into the end zone ... his second of the game, tying the score 14-14! No way! The magic has arrived! OMG! On the Giants ensuing kick return, Ahmad Bradshaw answered with his own second blistering 100-yard touchdown run, playing the best Giants football of the year, 21-14, New York in the lead! Coach Pizz is going wild! The room is wild with a roar! Oh yeah ... Almost Unbelievable! Tony Green answered with his third straight 100-yard touchdown to tie the score at 21-21! We can't believe the excitement. This place is going wild! Coach Viggs is straight-faced and in approval of his team's performance. Even after the adjustments by the Giants on the kickoff, Tony Green was unstoppable, untouched, as he blazed into the end zone! Can Green tie Buffalo's Jay Brown's four 100-yard touchdown performance on opening day against the Chiefs. Brown had 495-yards with four touchdowns in that incredible record-setting game, which set a new LIEFL record for 100-yard kick returns in a regular season game. As great leaders often do, Ahmad Bradshaw wasn't about to give up to this division rival. Bradshaw came right back at the Redskins defense with a 44 yard return in the second half, followed by a stunning run by Shaquon Barkley who found an opening in the middle of the field right between the one and three holes courtesy of LIEFL All-Pro George Martin and Leonard Marshall for a Barkley 56-yard touchdown run! The Giants gained the edge, 28-21 with 12:56 remaining in the game and what a game it's been! Electrifying! On Washington's next ensuing kick return, the room erupted when Tony Green ran back his fourth consecutive 100-yard return to tie the score of 28-28, with 11:15 remaining in the game, we are speechless! Green also tied Jay Brown's record set earlier in the season. Brown has cooled off a bit and defenses have figured him out, but it's the great players who find ways on their own to be exceptional. Tony Green has been fabulous 7,167 all-purpose yards with 45 career touchdowns, not including this season! Tony Green has had a career! Next year Green will be chasing more history to become a 10,000 yard LIEFL player! Green doesn't carry this team, the teamwork in Viggs play is admired. He made great adjustments in the off season by changing his front line player bases in the draft to make a powerhouse team NOT to be reckoned with. The Redskins have been to two Super Bowls. In LIEFL 1981 Super Bowl V, they lost to Miami 21-10, and then in 1984 LIEFL Super Bowl VII, the Redskins beat Miami in one of our greatest Super Bowl's 34-31 in OT! Could they make this their third Super Bowl appearance? With the clock winding down, the Giants came to play in this war, with Ahmad Bradshaw returning another big kick 62-yards return. The Giants on their first two runs couldn't get anything going, so on a third down, they had to pass, but the Redskins stunned the New York offense. Coach Pizz couldn't find an open receiver, and the Giants were finally stopped, with the Washington defense holding New York to a field goal to make the score 31-28, Giants in the lead still! Coach Ed Viggs Redskins rose to the occasion like champions with his undefeated team. Electricity! Boom! Bang! Maybe those are not the words to what we witnessed on the Redskins fifth devastating blow of the game when Tony Green made history with his fifth straight 100-yard kick return after a New York Giants field goal! This is great electric football between two terrific coaches and the teams they have built! Nobody in the league has ever done what Tony Green just did in a regular season game, but Viggs has his Skins in Championship form! The Redskins magic is alive! On the record-crushing play, Green exploded around the left side of the field straight down the field with electrifying speed into the end zone to give the Redskins a stunning 35-31 lead, with 1:39 remaining in the game! Coach Pizz couldn't believe it! It's not exciting, it's exhilarating or whatever words we can find that would describe this incredible player who has risen to a different occasion for the undefeated Redskins! Even Pizz was clapping for Green's performance, but the room went wild! How could he not? The play gets better and better! The LIEFL is ecstatic for the Redskins who became the first team in the seven game season format to go undefeated in a much deserved win as the Giants flatout ran out of time! The Giants played their hearts out in this heartfelt effort, but they just ran out of time in the last series. Of the six coaches at the game, we felt we had to give Kudos and celebrate the LIEFL Game of the Year! That's how great this game was. It was hard to watch coach Pizz lose this game, but just as exciting to watch Coach Viggs win! He deserves the respect as the master of preparation. We have to give credit to a New York offense took a beating in Week #1 to this team and in this game the performance of both Shaquon Barkley and Ahmad Bradshaw, just can't be ignored. Barkley rushed for 95-yards, with two touchdowns, one a 56-yard scamper, and Bradshaw exploded for 401 all-purpose yards on just six touches, but two of his runs were 100 yard touchdowns! Coach Paddy Brannigan said, "Be careful what you ask for when you unleash the offensive firepower between these two teams. When it comes to Viggs, he does everything without a sound. All his talk is done on the field." Coach Matt Zoo-York said, "I am a competitor of Viggs, but I am also a fan. I've played at least fifty electric football coaches from college to this league, but none like Viggs. He has played some big competition in electric football. I think people don't get the fact that just because they play in the Tudor circle doesn't mean there isn't outstanding competition elsewhere, especially in league that plays for money. We just play by an entirely highly competitive set of rules without the hoopla and long setups and countdowns." We found ourselves cheering for both squads! What a way to go into the playoffs undefeated winning this game in New York." The Redskins take two from the Giants this season, and don't forget, the Giants took three from the Redskins last year. These Redskins are primed for a 2023 Playoff war in a conference loaded with talent! That was the best game we've ever seen coach Viggs play, including the Super Bowl in 1984 when they beat Miami in overtime, truly, truly, unbelievable! Talk about records, those record-setting and historic five 100-yard kick returns gave Green five touches for 500-all-purpose yards with five touchdowns in the game to end regular season play for the undefeated Washington Redskins (7-0)! Coach Joey Pizz said after the game, "When a regular season game ends in a classic, scoring 66 points in 30 minutes, running up 1,016 total yards in the game, with nine touchdowns between the rivals, it is proof that two highly competitive teams and coaches, do not need a two-hour game in this league! That was the greatest game I've ever played in!" Coach Viggs added, "We just outplayed them. It is a testament to the speed of the game and the skill of the players. How could a guy run back five straight hundred yard touchdowns without being touched? What my man Tony Green did today was made me proud of the team, but we have a long way to go, and it is time to get ready for the playoffs!" That's coach Viggs, and boy did he come to play today! Lets see if the Redskins can strike the magic in the playoffs! In other league action it was Levi Vick's Dallas Cowboys (5-2) upset Coach Joey Pizz Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4), 14-10 on big plays by Terrell Owens who caught a 60-yard touchdown pass to beat Tampa Bay, eliminating the Bucs from the playoffs! After Bucs return man Jimmie Giles kicked off the game with a 100-yard touchdown run, Tampa Bay could not run the ball against the Dallas defense, and the Cowboys met the Bucs with a determined playoff bound attitude and the Cowboys fifth win of the season. Dallas will face a fierce Panthers team in the NFC Wild Card Game and it should be a great game. The Pittsburgh Steelers (3-4) couldn't hold off the San Francisco 49ers (3-4), losing their playoff bid 14-7 to a revived 49ers team. The dangerous 49ers gave too little too late as Coach Ed Viggs watched the Chicago Bears (4-3) clinch the final playoff spot. Chicago will represent the #7 Seed after a close win over the Seattle Seahawks (1-6). Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs lost his cool when the Seahawks lost with lots of self-destructive behavior. Biggs has had his butt handed to him this season at (4-15), hardly a showing for self-touted coach. He realized he needed to cool down after the loss. "It's hard to hold it in because I know my team is an excellent team, and it's hard to understand if you re not on the field watching the talent. I let this one get away in the last minute and I couldn't score, but I also feel like I let down Marshawn Lynch in the loss. Yes I know he is plastic, but when a guy goes all out, how can you not respect him? One thing is for sure the league is established with some unbelievable players," said Biggs. Lynch is a proven track player in the LIEFL finishing NFC Top-Ten in Rushing, All-Purpose, and Kick Return Yards, with 55 touches for 1,675 all-purpose yards with 14 touchdowns, including three 100-yarders this season. What a player! Nobody in the league understands how the Seahawks lost six games. Marshawn Lynch earned his BEAST reputation. He will go down as one of the greatest backs in the history of the LIEFL with 9,264 all-purpose yards with 78 touchdowns! How would you like this high speed, high-octane player performing for you? 11. Long Island Electric Football League BREAKING NEWS! December 11, 2023. Dear Electric Football Colleagues! May you and your families have a wonderful and blessed holiday season. The Long Island Electric Football League has made a decision not to write up regular season game summaries further. One suggestion is, maybe there should be a separate category "League Games" so it better directs possible interest in leagues? Finally, after spending hours writing the article on the final Week 7 games in the Forum, it all disappeared from the Forum, and we have no idea why, but as we bring the 2023 season to a close we have an announcement to make. The time and dedication it takes to write these articles unfortunately, does not warrant the demand to read them by our readers as we thought. In fact, we've noticed over the last few years that we've been writing the articles to a small number of people, so we thank those who showed interest. Readers were not so much interested in league game summaries based on the research we completed. We are totally okay with this, it's just as we said, the dedication invested has not been worthy of the community interest we received in the public forum. Our goal was to make electric football a greater part of the Forum community and to keep the hobby strong, and we think we did our part for the game. It's been wonderful sharing our league information with you, but from this point on we will only publish final end of the year Standings, Leaderboard, Coaching Records, and BIG game summary write-ups like the upcoming LIEFL Playoffs, Pro-Bowl, and LIEFL Super Bowl game in 2023, and 2024. The League will retire in 2024 and at that time we will decide what we will do with all of our teams! For those of you who have been following the league and the summaries that we write, thank you so much. We hope our game summaries inspired people from other leagues to do the same. We hope it helps Electric football enthusiasts to progress the love everyone has for the game. Have a wonderful Holiday Season! The LIEFL!
  12. Broncos (5-1) - Patriots (3-3) We have some players in this league that are hard to ignore. This game is going to be a great coaching matchup! Right now Paddy Brannigan's Denver Broncos (5-1) have the best defense in the AFC going into this game against the New England Patriots (3-3). New England is one of the best teams in the AFC, according to the coaches who've played them. The Patriots want to win now, and we have to credit coach Levi Vick for their success. Vick began the rise last season when he made some big and risky adjustment from the LIEFL loose player base pool of thousands of bases. In 2022, the Patriots finished as the AFC East Champion, losing in the first round of the AFC Wild Card Game in the playoffs against Buffalo, 31-24! After that game, Vick methodically pounded the pavement until he found what he thought were the animals he needed who could compete this season, and so far his strategy has been working. Levi Vick and Ed Viggs teamed together by Viggs allowing Vick to take the Chargers to be the benchmark for a new Patriots front line, and find player bases compatible with them. That's how he made the Patriots improved who they are today. The one missing link for New England is the running game. That's why Vick is so adamant about securing a star like Carolina's Greg Jones, because he knows with Jones, Miami and Buffalo would meet their greatest competition. Coach Vick has played all of his cards right with this team. They have a few missing pieces to the puzzle, but they are fierce competitors. New England has not had an easy schedule. In fact, they have played some of the toughest teams in the game, beginning with Miami, who they lost to in their season opener 17-14, but then they beat the Chargers 10-7, in week two for their 70th career win in dramatic fashion! That win against the Chargers proved that the Vick-Viggs connection was a great one! Then New England lost to Buffalo in Week #3, 24-17, in a terrific game at Buffalo. In Week #4 the Patriots upset the Philadelphia Eagles 7-6, on Philly's home turf. That game was a huge statement to the league that New England could win on the road. The Pats put the LIEFL on notice that they will be competing to the death! That's all a league could ask of a coach, to compete and never quit! They won two in a row between the Eagles and the tough Indianapolis Colts, 10-7. Last week New England lost to the undefeated Washington Redskins 10-7, but it was a very close battle, and that brings us to this game today against the top defense in the league the Denver Broncos, who've given up just 55 points on defense to lead the AFC. The two soft spots for the Patriots this season have been Rob Gronkowski and Laurence Maroney. Gronk had 22 touches for 1,260 all-purpose yards, with five touchdowns, including three 100-yard touchdowns last season. This year defenses have caught up to him. Gronk has just 743 all-purpose yards on 13 touches, with just two touchdowns, both 100 yard kick returns. Maroney had his player base changed and his numbers are low. He has 34 carries for 127-yards with just two touchdowns. If the Patriots can't get Greg Jones, coach Coach Ed Viggs may give up Lance Alworth's player base for a number #1 draft pick in February, and that would be a significant upgrade for the Patriots. Alworth isn't the experienced player that Jones is, but in the seven touches he has this season, he has created havoc for defenses with seven touches for 423 all-purpose yards, with two touchdowns, one of them for 100-yards. The Broncos have been criticized for having a light schedule, and they haven't had the stiff competition compared to the Patriots, but last week the Broncos really buried the highly competitive Chicago Bears, beating them 15-0, showing just how resilient their defense is. LIEFL All-Pro Broncos running back Terrell Davis broke 1,000 all-purpose yards again! Davis has 54 touches for 1,085 all-purpose yards, but 42 of those touches are in the rushing department with 330-yards. Compared to last season, Davis had 67 touches for 1,708 all-purpose yards, with ten touchdowns, including four 100-yards kick returns for touchdowns! Since, 2019, Davis has torn the league up with 4,487 all-purpose yards with 34 touchdowns, including (14) 100-yard touchdown returns! How would you like a proven player like that on your team? Davis is the playmaker, and the biggest reason why the Broncos are (5-1). Now he has another threat playing next to him which makes the Broncos offense lethal. Receiver Ed McCaffrey has four touchdowns with 204 receiving yards and he is Paddy Brannigan's go-to guy in the air. BRONCOS UPSET PATRIOTS 21-17 IN BOOM OF GAME! This game was one explosive battles of the year, which will become a rivalry, and the Broncos may have just eliminated the Patriots! As expected, both defenses played better than good, they were terrific! The Broncos took the Patriots to the last ten seconds of the game on the road in New England, showing championship caliber football by both coaches and teams. The first half was slow with Coach Levi Vick working the clock and trying to get his ground game going for New England, but the Broncos defense showed up again, after last weeks beating of the Chicago Bears 15-0, Denver held New England to a field goal, 3-0 Patriots! In the trenches is where the battle was until special teams arrived late in the game with some surprises. First, Denver pressured the Patriots, but the Patriots line held their own, and that is what makes New England so dangerous. They can play with anyone in the league. On the most defining offensive surge for the Broncos on the ensuing kickoff, Terrell Davis exploded on a 49-yard return to start the second half. Davis then took it from there exploding on a 31-yard run, followed by a 49-yard touchdown scamper into the end zone as we watched Davis use his power to blaze down the right sideline to give Denver the lead 7-3! It was all fireworks in the second half. The bombs began with Rob Gronkowski running back a 41-yard kick return, and then on first down, Laurence Maroney took an end-around down the left sideline, scoring on a spectacular 54-yard touchdown run as New England took back the lead back,10-7! The Broncos could do no wrong after an ensuing 68-yard kick return by Terrell Davis. Davis was piling up the yardage on offense for Denver. He then ran for four yards until Coach Brannigan decided to air it out and connect with his favorite receiver Ed McCaffrey, who took it 40 yards into the end zone to give Denver the lead 14-10, with less than 5 minutes to go in the game. The Patriots were not going to give up. On the next kickoff, Rob Gronkowski ran an electrifying 100-yard touchdown to put the Patriots ahead 17-14, and it looked like the game was over with just 1:30 remaining on the game with the Pats in the lead! What an epic performance by two playoff driven teams in a showdown! On the last play of the game, Broncos star Terrell Davis ran back a stunning and heroic 100-yard touchdown run in one of the most incredible and electrifying finishes of Denver's season, to win the game in dramatic fashion for the Broncos 21-17, as time ran out in a heartbreaking loss for the Patriots and Coach Levi Vick! What a spectacular finish. This game is what it should be to end a season, a battle to be remembered in a competitive league with both teams leaving it all on the board right to the end! Both teams went back and forth the entire game with New England winning, then Denver winning on the line, but it was enough for the Broncos to stop the Patriots 21-17, in a stunning upset! EAGLES TAKE JETS IN SEASON FINALE 14-10! Jets (2-4)- Eagles (1-5). The Jets and Eagles are a great matchup because they have some of the most exciting players in the LIEFL. Jets running back Le'Veon Bell has been terrific this season. Bell has been a steady top five back in the AFC. Coach Joey Pizz was singing, "Mama sita, We gonna Beat ya" ... Bell has 36 rushes for 493-yards with 8 touchdowns! New York hasn't seen those numbers since 2008 when Bruce Harper used to run the ball. Also, tight end and return man, Don Maynard has played BIG! Maynard has 13 touches for 720 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns, all 100-yard kick returns! The Jets will be challenged against an angry Eagles team who fell short of their goal to make the playoffs again this season. Pitting an NFC East team against an AFC East team is a montage of two teams who are the epitome of the wholeness of this exciting league. We can't ignore the disappointment of the two teams however in where they landed this season, but there have been bright spots for both. Eagles return man Harold Carmichael has 19 touches for 1,059 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns, two of them for 100-yards! Eagles running back Keith Byars is having an off year, ranked 8th in NFC Rushing with 34 carries for 351 yards with six touchdowns, one of them, a 65-yard touchdown run behind lineman Hugh Douglas and Company! From the first play of the game to the last play of the game, it was all Philadelphia beginning with a 49-yard kick return from Harold Carmichael. The Eagles dominated on the front line as Keith Byers launched a 31-yard first down on his first run of the game, followed by a 3-yard run, and then a 17-yard run into the end zone to give the Philadelphia Eagles the 7-0 lead over the New York Jets! When the Jets returned their first kickoff Don Maynard blasted off for 79-yards, and then the Jets were stuffed by a tough Philadelphia Eagles defense. Jets running back Le'Veon Bell had nowhere to run and the Eagles D E F E N S E sealed all holes. The Jets killed the clock but they had to settle for a 55-yard field goal on 4th down, with the Eagles still in the lead 7-3. Coach Pizz realized at that point it could be a long day for his Jets against the Byars-Carmichael offensive Eagles dou. On the ensuing kickoff, Harold Carmichael exploded for an electrifying on 84-yard kick return to set up Keith Byars on the next series for the Philadelphia offense. On 1st and 2nd downs, the Eagles were shut down by the Jets defense with the fierce play by Marvin Powell, Mark Gastineau and Marty Lyons. And then on third down, coach Matt Zoo-York threw a rocket for 21-yards to Philly receiver Irvin Fryer, bringing the ball to the 4-yard line of the Jets. One play later, it was Keith Byars who scored on his second touchdown run of the game from one-yard into the end zone giving the Eagles the 14-3 lead. The Jets didn't give up. Don Maynard returned the Jets next kickoff 45-yards on the ensuing kick, and then it was Le'Veon Bell who ran for 5 yards and then 10 yards for another first down. Coach Joey Pizz decided to put the ball in the air, connecting with Don Maynard for a 40-yard touchdown to make this game 14-10! The Eagles would get one more kick return for 40-yards by Carmichael who was stopped by a swarming Jets defense, ending the game and out of time as the Philadelphia Eagles (2-5) beat the New York Jets (2-5) of a final score of 14-10! Carmichael finished the day with three touches for 173 all-purpose yards, and Keith Byars had 55 yards rushing with two touchdowns. Jets rising star Don Maynard finished the game with three touches for 164 all-purpose yards with a 40-yard touchdown play. Both teams will have heavy picks in the February LIEFL Draft.
  13. WEEK #7: P A N T H E R S ... ROAR INTO NFC PLAYOFFS WITH 17-10 WIN OVER TEXANS! Panthers (4-2) - Texans (3-3) We are doing our best to write these Week#7 games up as fast as we can. Matt Zoo-York's Carolina Panthers (4-2) dominated third-year coach Levi Vick's Houston Texans (3-3) in a hard fought game, with some nifty running by Panthers running back DeShaun Foster. Foster broke loose for 51-yards rushing on six carries, and he had two touchdowns behind a Carolina beefed up front line led by LIEFL All-Pro Kawaan Short, leaving a very good Texans defense speechless in the Panthers upset over the Houston Texans, 17-10! There is no other way to categorize the Carolina Panthers other than by the steady team they are, and there's no better way to head into the LIEFL playoffs than by dominating teams. The Panthers are no rookie to prepping for the playoffs. This will be Carolina's sixth NFC playoffs! Here they are again, heading back to the NFC playoffs for another shot at a Super Bowl, after the huge loss and upset in last year playoffs to the Minnesota Vikings. "This team is different though, said Matt Zoo-York. I cannot let this team down this season. We have the tools, I just have to not choke under pressure. If we can get it going early on offense and rise up on defense, we have a fighting chance to play the role of UPSET underdog against some really tough NFC teams, but ultimately winning comes down to execution." The Panthers have 15 touchdowns this season with the tandem of running back DeShaun Foster getting into the endzone 11 times and Greg Jones crushing three 100-yard touchdowns runs. Jones is close to breaking 1,000 yards for the season, increasing his value as one of the most desired players to have in the league. Carolina is peeking at the right time. On the other end of the spectrum for Houston, LIEFL All-Pro Ron Dayne could not be stopped on special teams for the Texans in this game. Ron Dayne finished the game with nine touches for 221 all-purpose yards, including an electrifying 100-yard touchdown return, but it wasn't enough for Houston. The Panthers kept Dayne and tight end Ryan Griffen at Bay on offense. Dayne had just six rushes, but he was stopped dead in his tracks each time by a mauling Carolina defense. To finish the day, Carolina's Greg Jones showed how important he is to the Panthers offense. Jones had two kick returns for 148-yards, setting up DeShaun Foster for some amazing play time in the backfield. Every team in the league is interested in the services of Jones, but Zoo is reluctant to trade unless he gets all the top draft picks in February's LIEFL-Draft. Coach Levi Vick wants Jones bad! Vick said, "This guy is an electrifying player, and he brings instant success to any offense in the league. I want him for my Patriots, but we will see if Zoo is willing to give up this type of a player. I wouldn't mind purchasing the entire league when Billy O'C retires. I know three people who want in. The teams are that exciting. It is the way a league should be run in my opinion because we keep coming back for more, and we never get tired of the seven-game season. When the season ends this year I was invited to play in my old league." The Panthers (5-2) roll into the playoffs determined to focus! This is their third consecutive year that they have risen to the occasion, and their teamwork is hard to match. In this game, it seemed everywhere we turned, the white Panthers jerseys were everywhere. It doesn't look like the Texans are going to make it into the playoffs this year with this loss, but they are just a few players shy of being a playoff team!
  14. LIEFL PREPARING FOR THE SHOW! (Long Island Electric Football League) December 2, 2023. Written by Levi Vick. We settled the venue location for LIEFL Super Bowl XVIII. As we continue our articles, we are a bit behind this week in the writing but the write-ups are coming! This year's LIEFL Super Bowl is locked out and will be played at JF-Johnny-Freeport's house on the water in the beautiful Nautical Mile, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 with the LIEFL Pro-Bowl being played on December 29th. Coaching that game will be Joe Bino for the AFC and Joey Pizz for the NFC. We pick the coaches from the AFC and NFC Championship Game Finalists from the previous season to represent the Pro-Bowl teams. Since our Super Bowl host will be Johnny-Freeport, he makes the house-rules for the day at his home. Freeport is claiming one of his team's will be in the LIEFL Bowl, but we are setting the scene for the big $3200 dollar event to the winner regardless of his claims! JF Johnny-Freeport is the only coach in the league making these claims that his Lions or Falcons will go all the way, but for Detroit, that reality will be settled in JF's game on the road at the Raiders this week. Raiders Coach Kevin Mack said, "The Lions haven't even clinched a playoff spot yet Johnny-Freeport is already making these claims that his team is going all the way. It's crazy, especially to defy my Raiders, who beat the Packers from his division. I am coming at his Lions regardless, and I've been practicing kick return setups all week waiting for this game. They still have to stop one of the best players in the league, Dave Casper, so we'll see how that goes for his Lions!" On the other end of the ball, the Las Vegas defense has to find a way to keep the ball out of Lions running back Dexter Bussey's hands too, so it's a great matchup. Dave Casper is the #5 all-purpose yard player in the AFC with 24 touches for 1,239 yards with six touchdowns, three of them 100-yarders! Playmaker Dexter Bussey is the #2 all-purpose player in the entire LIEFL behind Atlanta's Gerald Riggs, with 60 touches for 1,444 yards with 10 touchdowns, including four 100-yard touchdown returns! He's a beast! The Lions may have to get the Raiders in overtime to win this one. The Falcons and his Ravens might be Johnny Freeport's only strategic chance to pave the way to the SHOW. Technically, the only JF team out of the playoff picture at this second, is the Bengals, so anything can happen in Week #7. Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee and former All-Suffolk Wrestler, Andrew M. Slawson said, "Don't believe a word of Free's garbage. None of his teams are going to the Super Bowl, but I'd love to see Gerald Riggs of the Falcons make it to a Super Bowl. He is really a special player ... He's magical! Freeport's Ravens will never beat the Chargers, Dolphins, or Bills in the AFC Playoffs, and his Falcons and Lions are good, but they won't be beating the Redskins, I don't think, because Viggs will take the big games intensity up a notch and confuse Freeport with speed and skills. So, that is why Viggs Redskins are my clear favorite pick to go all the way in the Tournament. Viggs mental preparation and toughness for football, and his ability to make the big plays under pressure, is second to none by the Wall Street Guru. Viggs does it all, the deep-pass accuracy, his running game setups, his defense, and his mental aptitude for football in general give him the advantage over his opponents." Coach Joey Pizz said, "It will be a nice setting at JF-Johnny-Freeport's place, and that's as far as Free will go in the Tournament. He made have played big during his days on the field, but in electric football, we take him down to size. He goes from 6'4" to "46" in the LIEFL by entertaining the league. The Stadium will be transported, set up, cleaned and prepped for the big game. We also bring the Rose Bowl Field to play the LIEFL Pro Bowl Game on December 29th!" HAIL TO THE CHIEFS IN THEIR 24-21 WIN OVER VIGGS PLAYOFF BOUND PACKERS! (Packers (4-2) - Chiefs (2-4) It was one of the best flowing games of the year between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs. Even though Coach Matt Zoo York's Chiefs were eliminated by the Jets, that did not stop Kansas City from being locked and loaded to blow off the fireworks in this game and send Coach Ed Viggs and his Packers a message that the refuse to quit. Of course, KC had the home field advantage in the game playing at home where they have been tough. Green Bay came prepared and the two coaches had their game-faces on matching the speed of the clock with intensity. On the opening drive for the Chiefs it was Kansas City who came out on fire. Even though Tyreek Hill had a 35-yard kick return to open the game, the Chiefs Frontline took over in the ground game with a powerful 31-yards Priest Holmes scamper on KC's first running play from scrimmage. On the next play, Holmes bullied his way on an outside 29-yard run into the end zone to give the Chiefs the early lead 7-0, with 11 minutes left to play in the first half! That last play might be one of the best executions the Chiefs pulled off all season long, and not to mention against one of the top defenses in the league! When the Green Bay Packers ran back there first kickoff it was Sterling Sharpe who exploded on a 51-yard return! The impressive Frontline of the Green Bay Packers marched their way downfield with a 24-yard run by Terdell Middleton behind Lineman Cullen Jenkins, followed up by a 25-yard touchdown run to tie the score at 7-7 in a fast paced game with a lot of hard-hitting! It's a beautiful matchup between two elite teams and coaches! The two teams were perfectly matched in what seemed like a playoff atmosphere game. On the ensuing Chiefs kickoff, Tyreek Hill looked phenomenal on a speedy run down the middle of the field, following his line into the end zone for a stunning 100-yard kick return to give the Chiefs the lead 14-7 in dramatic fashion! Wow what a fireworks of a game! The Packers were not ready to submit to the defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. Green Bay's return man Sterling Sharpe's next kick return was just 40-yards. It only took the Pack one play though, for Terdell Middleton to explode for a 60-yard touchdown run blazing into the end zone to tie the score at 14-14, bringing the first half to an end, in what became an electrifying game! It was Tyreek Hill's day on this final regular season game that the Chiefs prevailed. Hill wasted no time on a 52-yard kick return followed by a 26-yard run by Priest Holmes. Suddenly, the Chiefs were stopped by that fury Green Bay defense led by lineman LIEFL All-Pro Willie Davis. And one play later on a 29 yard missile to Tyreek Hill by Matt Zoo-York, Kansas City took the lead 21-14, in an incredible action-packed game! With time running out, Packers star Sterling Sharpe exploded for an 80-yard kick return, which would be his last of the game. It only took two more plays for Terdell Middleton to get into end zone for his third touchdown of the game to tie the score at 21-21, leaving less than 1:30 to go in the game. The intensity in unreal! Coach Zoo took full advantage of the day. Tyreek Hill launched a 66 yard return on his last kickoff run of the game! After being pushed back their last running play, Zoo called for a 49 yard field goal attempt. One play later, the Chiefs kicked the 49 yard field-goal to win the game in a glorious victory over the Green Bay Packers 24-21, putting the Packers positioning in grave danger for the NFC playoffs! What a game! Coach Viggs fell short on this one on the road where the Green Bay Packers have been great at (2-3). Could Kansas City spoiled the Packers shot at the higher seeding? The Chiefs finish the 2023 season (3-4), with a positive ending, and all of the sudden, the Green Bay Packers (4-3) will have to battle for a slot in the NFC Playoffs with this loss after the Packers lost to the AFC Raiders in a huge upset battle last week 10-7. Tyreek Hill had a huge game with five touches for 282 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, including a 100-yard touchdown return. On the plus side, the Packers have brought back their running game with Terdell Middleton finishing the season rushing into the Top 10 in the NFC, with 674 yards on 46 carries with 12 touchdowns! Sterling Sharpe had 171 all-purpose yards in this game, and Packers running back Terdell Middleton had five carries for 129-yards with three huge touchdowns!
  15. (Long Island Electric Football League) Written By Levi Vick. Thursday Night is a big night in the LIEFL. We play at least six games. This week we will summarize several games. Coaches have to coach with an attitude. Here is the Pre-Game with the article of the featured games to follow. The Packers (4-2) versus Chiefs (2-4) game is #98 of the season. This is one that could cause problems for the Packers if they lose. Beating the Chiefs at home is a mighty task, and it can change the order of Seeding Cards in the NFC Playoffs for Green Bay should they lose. Then we have the sizzling-hot Panthers (4-2) at the Texans (3-3), who are battling for the #7 spot in the AFC Playoff Bracket, and in LIEFL Game #100 for the season, it's the Broncos (5-1) versus the Patriots (3-3), who are an outside long shot to make the tournament. What a game that should be defensively! Then we have the tough Jets (2-3) against the Eagles (1-5). Jets running back Le'Veon Bell is ranked #3 in rushing for the AFC, with 36 rushes for 493-yards and 8 touchdowns! Bell has had a great year for the New York Jets, but so has Harold Carmichael for the Eagles. Carmichael is ranked #8 in NFC all-purpose yards. He has 1,059 yards with three touchdowns, including two 100-yard touchdown returns! Finally, in this article, we have the Browns (1-5) at the Cardinals (1-5) in a game of pride. Most like the loser will get some of the top hopefuls in the upcoming February LIEFL Draft as they rebuild. Also, at the end of this week we will be announcing All-Pro recognition, voted on by the coaches! The question? Is it too much pressure to be the Top Seed in a Tournament? Your vote _______________________. Who is the best under pressure in your leagues, even solitaire in dealing with the emotion of two best teams playing, considering you are the coach for both? Coach Joey Pizz gets philosophical and breaks the game down. "Electric football is so interesting when it comes to the actual players themselves. We do a lot of predicting in the LIEFL based on of course, performance. The phenomenon of the player seems they become the "Toy Story" of the ages for us. How do these plastic players appear to have a mind of their own and do what they do, or is it just our imaginative childhood creativity that has us thinking this way? Are we delusional? And, some of the things that they do ... sometimes are nothing short of spectacular. That's what we have to teach the kids, the aura of the game in order to popularize it." WORTH MENTIONING: In 2017, the Bills had a season to remember because it was historic in the way Billy O'C took down one of his loudest opponents, Johnny-Freeport Chucker in one of the most dominant performances in LIEFL history. That 2017 season, in the matchup of the year, the league and the Bills had an amazing run in the Super Bowl between the Buffalo Bills (8-2) and Defending Super Bowl Champion Detroit Lions (8-2) that can't be explained in terms of magical performances, but the Bills totally dominated. Their playoff run began with a crushing defeat against a good Bengals team 42-28, in the AFC Wild Card Game. Then they embarrassed the Browns, who were the top defense in the league, in the AFC Divisional Game 45-14, until they dismantled the Texans 46-26 in the AFC Championship Game! They went on to give the returning LIEFL Super Bowl XII Champion Lions team a beatdown and romp 49-35, in LIEFL Super Bowl XIII with OJ Simpson having a record-setting historic performance of his plastic life! The Bills scored 182 points in the tournament versus their opponents 103 points. There wasn't a team that could keep up with the most explosive running game in the league at the time. It was OJ Simpson's second 100-yard touchdown of the game that made us go wild wild in that Super Bowl against Detroit. Buffalo had the perfect playoff run that we talk about in the league. Simpson missed defenders like he was alive as he whizzed into the end zone for his record-setting seventh touchdown of the game. Can the Bills rise to the challenge? Inspiration will come for alternate Coach Joe Bino when he watches this performance below. In the Video below, you can hear Johnny Freeport and Billy O'C as they watched in disbelief, OJ Simpson scoring that 7th touchdown of the game! We think these runs are special, but they are just one of thousands of great plays in the league. How does this happen? (Watch the Video Replay Below of tremendous runs by Dexter Bussey (Opens the Video) and (OJ Simpson at 2:59) in LIEFL Super Bowl XIII between the Bills and Lions). It's plays like that that we captured on film that is the fascinating part of this game. The performance, speed and the accuracy of all of us who play this on a high level. "I'm not against Madden or any of those games, but with this game you really have to think quick in a different way because you're putting the play together and being strategic as a critical thinker requires a different mindset on a vibrating board. It's fascinating to us that all of the great coaches around the world who play Electric football, have stayed with it all these years. We salute you," said Coach Kevin Mack. We only wish we had California's best, Lonell Powell around to film our games again. He was the best at filming these small players bringing them to scale in a lifelike performance, as you can see by what he produced here in the lens. Coach Billy O'C said, "Going back to that great moment when I started playing this game, it was really my mom who was enthusiastic about it. She just was incredible now that I look back because if not for her I wouldn't have known anything about this game. She was a tremendous athlete in her sport internationally as a volleyball player from Cuba, but she played and coached basketball, and softball. She started it all here." Coach Paddy Brannigan said, "It's okay to dream as a Manchild because one thing we never want to lose is this piece of our childhood, and electric football does that. When we all rethink or reflect back to the time when we got our first electric football games, never in a million years would we have imagined we'd be at this point today with the hobby. As a kid we used to dream about having a huge tournament with every kid in the world who played and it might have taken years to finish the tournament, but everybody would have had so much fun sharing our hobby and journey because our LIEFL legacy will forever be on the Tudor Games Forum, however long that may be. They say all good things have to come to an end and that may be true, but the memories never have to end we can relish and treasure this super game." Packers (4-2) - Chiefs (2-4) It will be huge game for the Packers on the road because the game still has playoff implications in terms of their positioning in the NFC Playoff Seeding Bracket. Chiefs Coach Matt Zoo-York doesn't care about any of this playoff talk after being eliminated last week from a shot at participating in the LIEFL Super Bowl Tournament. They will come to play today at an attempt to unhinge the heart of the Packers. Green Bay stands at an all-time record of (108-81) for the 4th ranked team in the LIEFL. They started the season on fire winning four straight against the Saints, Panthers, Bears, and Lions. Then they dropped the last two against the Giants 14-7, and in a major upset, they lost to the Raiders 10-7! Running back Terdell Middleton, and return man Sterling Sharpe have a combined 1,587 all-purpose yards, with 8 touchdowns on 62 touches for the Packers. Green Bay's front line must show up in playoff form for this game. The Chiefs might be one of the biggest disappointments in this LIEFL season. They were (8-3) s a Wild Card LIEFL Super Bowl Champion last season. The magic and force was with them, rolling over everyone in the league with great coaching by Matt Zoo-York, who was LIEFL Coach of the Year in 2022. At (78-95) ranked 19th in the LIEFL, Kansas City will fall just shy of their 80th win in the league this season. They started the season with a huge win over the high-octane Buffalo Bills 38-35, and after that they didn't win another game until Week #4 against the Steelers who they beat 14-7. With a schedule against the Lions, Chargers, Bears and the Jets, who eliminated the Chiefs from the AFC Playoffs last week 21-14, on the road in New York, it proved to work against this unique team. So, Coach Matt Zoo-York would love nothing more than spoiling the Packers comfort zone in the playoffs. Zoo said, "I thought for sure my Chiefs could repeat a championship, but what can I say. At this point I just have to play for pride. I am not the top dog and I lost my bragging rights, but not my dignity and pride. For anyone who thinks the can just walk in here and win a Super Bowl, they are delusional." The Packers have to stop Priest Holmes and Tyreek Hill who have a combined 1,553 all-purpose yards with 12 touchdowns on 51 touches. That's a lot of damage against opponents. The NFC Playoff Bracket is so fierce this season that we think the NFC could be in the power position this season to win the title, but we we shouldn't speak too soon. LI Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, Andrew M. Slawson said, "The league is at the point that you don't want to see anyone in the NFC Playoffs lose, but the Packers, who I love because they beat Miami, will not get past the first round. That's my prediction. They have lost their touch, and Ed Viggs, one of the best coaches out there, has lost control of his team when it comes to performance. You can't make mistakes against the good teams in this league and it will kill you in the NFC Playoffs. They'll whoop you everytime." Time will tell how Green Bay will fare, but they should use this game as a primer to the upcoming tournament.
  16. (Long Island Electric Football League) Written By Levi Vick and Matt Zoo-York. This week's final regular season games we will keep the write-ups short and for the playoffs, we will write up each game individually and publish. It is hard to predict who will be AFC-NFC Champions, but the favorite has to be Washington in the NFC, and in the AFC most coaches think Miami.Who will step up and make LIEFL Super Bowl XVIII? Last season is was Coach Matt Zoo-York's Kansas City Chiefs who stunned the league as the Wild Card Team turned Super Bowl XVII Champion, beating the pants off of Coach Ed Viggs San Francisco 49ers, 47-37! Dollar, Dollar, Dollar! At the end of Week #7 season, we vote on the $3200 dollar earnings going to one coach rather than split with the losing coach. The vote is expected to be passed. By doing so, the competition will be even more exciting with high stakes and pressure games on these coaches in the battle for a LIEFL Super Bowl title! BILLS BEAT DOLPHINS FOR DIVISION TITLE IN OT 13-6! Dolphins (5-1) at Bills (4-2) We'll bring the game summaries for Week #7 one at a time. The question going into Week #7 of the LIEFL is, who will rise to the occasion and become the beast of the league? We open this week with a "Monster Game" featuring the Buffalo Bills (4-2) against the Miami Dolphins (5-1). Coach Bino has a dilemma because Miami and Buffalo are his teams this season. Who will he choose to play with as the coach of both Miami and Buffalo? He said, "I am asking Viggs to play with the Bills, and I will play with Miami." This season, Miami has done their work quietly at (5-1), but they have some players who are loud performers on the field. Dolphins lineman Larry Little has seven tackles, AJ Duhe has five, and Jason Taylor has been one of the most competitive interior linemen in the league. The Dolphins are (21-9) in the past three seasons as they hunt for their 7th LIEFL title. On the road Miami did win one game this season against a struggling Cleveland Browns team, 20-17 in OT, and they've won every single home game that they've played. But really the Dolphins haven't had as tough a schedule as the New England Patriots or the Buffalo Bills. Joe Bino has gotten into a caching groove at (11-3), but nobody plays with these Dolphins like Billy O'C. In 2019, the Miami beat Buffalo in the AFC Championship Game 31-21. Prior to that the Dolphins were in last place and at the bottom of the barrel for three straight seasons. From 2016 to 2018, Miami won just three games and lost 18 before being rebuilt by Billy O'C. And they have been incredible since, with three straight playoff appearances and two Super Bowl appearances, losing both to the LA Rams and the Green Bay Packers. Buffalo is a different team and they look like a championship team by the way they are playing. Their 56-52 loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Championship Game last season was one of the greatest LIEFL games in history. They are one of the most electrifying and exciting teams in the league. The Bills are (30-29) since 2008, when we began the seven-game format season, and they are currently (86-85) in the LIEFL. Miami will have their hands full with Jay Brown and OJ Simpson two of the best tandems in the league. It took three seasons for the Bills to gain the confidence to give that ball to Jay Brown and take over on kick returns. OJ Simpson has 11 touchdowns and Brown has six. That is a lot of offense! Buffalo started the season with an incredible game at Kansas City losing to the defending champion Chiefs 38-35, followed by another high-stakes game beating the red hot LV Raiders 28-24, and the team only got better. They beat New England 24-17, and then the Jets on the road 14-10, and when they came home, they beat the Titans 14-3. Last week they lost an amazing game to the Chargers 17-14 and that's where they sit today at (4-2). It's even possible that these two will meet first in the playoffs but watch for the Bills to go all out today to win the title and possibly even a few home field advantage games. The battle is for the second seed and that puts the Bills or the Dolphins in a completely different situation come play off time. It was a tense game for these two teams with a lot at stake. The winner would take the Division, get a home field edge in the playoffs, and boasting rights in the AFC East, one of the most contentious divisions in the LIEFL. Playing the Buffalo Bills at home has proven to be more difficult than Miami thought, especially with a master coach like Ed Viggs at the helm for the Bills today. The Dolphins came out pushing their defense to the brink against this number #1 high-octane Buffalo offense in the LIEFL! Miami's goal was to be tough on defense and match that Bills "Electric Company" front line by competing against the clock. The battle in the trenches was near equal, with Buffalo maybe having a tiny edge playing at home. Miami trailed Buffalo 7-0, the entire game. These two teams battled right to the last second of the game, literally. The biggest play of the game for the Dolphins was a 17-yard touchdown reception by Mark Duper in the final seconds of regulation, tying the score 7-7! The Dolphins had a rough time stopping OJ Simpson, who had 58-yards rushing in the first half. Simpson scored the first touchdown of the game on a 10-yard run to give the Bills the lead 7-0. The battle between Bills lineman Marcell Dareus and Jason Taylor was a colossal matchup with the two clashing back and forth. In the second half, the Dolphins killed the clock with 10 gritty plays, but the luck of the draw was on the side of the Bills today. The Buffalo Bills earned the 2023 Division Banner rebounding from their loss to the Chargers last week! Losing the overtime coin toss crushed Miami coach Joe Bino. After Mark Duper scored for Miami, Jay Brown shut down any further hope for the sinking Dolphins when Brown returned a kickoff 63-yards in overtime to setup the running game and OJ Simpson at the perfect spot, at the 37 yard line of Miami. Simpson ran for a first down on the first run in overtime. Then on the second play, Simpson launched 27-yards into the end zone in overtime for the touchdown to give the Bills the AFC East Division title with a 13-7 victory, in a very exciting football game which was mostly defensive, but both teams played tough! Miami (5-2) and Buffalo (5-2) both clinched a playoff spot, but now Buffalo gets the higher seed and the Dolphins will have to fight their way through the AFC on the road! What a way to end the regular season! OJ Simpson rushed for 95 yards, which was the key to Buffalo's win. Simpson had two touchdowns in the game, including the game winner, giving him 637-yards rushing this season on 41 carries, with 12 touchdowns going into the playoffs! Buffalo's Jay Brown was a beat during the first five games, but he's cooled off some in the past few games. Brown finished with a whopping 1409 all-purpose yards with six touchdowns, all 100-yarders on just 21 touches. The AFC Playoffs should be exciting. Here are two in the mix!
  17. (Long Island Electric Football League) November 27, 2023. Written by Levi Vick, Joey Pizz and Matt Zoo-York. Week #6 brought enormous intensity as we wind our regular season games down. The big news for the LIEFL is that the Kansas City Chiefs, last year's LIEFL Super Bowl Champion, were eliminated from the postseason by the New York Jets! That Jets-Chiefs game was hard to believe that the unstoppable Chiefs of last season were beaten up this season. The Draft works! At the finish line of Week #6, remain 20 teams who are still alive in the very complex AFC playoff picture. There are four (5-2) teams in the AFC and it looks like the Buffalo Bills sit at the top as the top offense in the LIEFL. The Bills have 132 points on offense, and they now have an opportunity to surpass the New York Giants 140 point record last year on offense, and defensively in the AFC, it's the Chargers, Broncos, Colts, and Dolphins who are the top four defenses. Also, in the AFC North, Johnny-Freeport's Bengals were eliminated from postseason play by Levi Vick's Texans, who remain in the hunt, while Johnny-Freeport's pal Paddy Brannigan's Steelers stay alive. Gone are the Jets, Browns, Jaguars, and the Titans. It's brutal to accept for Joey Pizz, Matt Zoo-York, and Rookie coach Bobby Biggs. In the NFC we've seen some real tough teams eliminated as well. Steelers (2-3) - Browns (1-4) In a highly contentious game in the AFC North Coach Paddy Brannigan's Pittsburgh Steelers (2-3) face Coach Matt Zoo-York's Cleveland Browns (1-4) in a high stakes game. Steelers receiver and return man Lynn Swann has been the key to Pittsburgh success, and Jerome "The Bus" Bettis can bring it on as a dangerous playmaker. The Browns have a triple threat offense with Jim Brown specializing in the kick return game, and Brown can catch, run the ball on offense, and he is a point scorer. Mike Pruitt has been solid in the running game for Cleveland, but if these two teams rise on defense today, it will be close. THE GAME: The Browns showed up to play on a big day with playoff ramifications for both teams. Pittsburgh's Lynn Swann opened the game with a 97-yard kick return! One play later, the ball was in the hands of Pittsburgh running back Rocky Bleier who caught a Brannigan rocket in the end zone to score the Steelers first touchdown of the game, 7-0 Steelers! On the ensuing kickoff Jim Brown ran a 48-yard kick return back. The kick return set up Mike Pruitt, who's having a decent year running the football. Pruitt ran for runs of 10, seven, seven, eight, six, and five more yards until he was finally stopped by the Pittsburgh defense at the eight yard line of Pittsburgh. The Browns ran the clock down until the first half ended. One play later to begin the second half, Jim Brown was wide open in the end zone to score an 8-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7, with 14:36 remaining in the game! On the Steelers next possession Lynn Swann sped 33-yards before being clobbered by Browns tackle, Gary Sherk. If Sherk didn't make that tackle Swann was gone! Wow! Swann has had his best-ever EFL season! He is the biggest threat in the LIEFL AFC at the moment. On first down Jerome Bettis ran for one yard. The Cleveland Browns defense in the trenches battled hard with the Steelers. They were hitting hard with equal surges on the line. Steelers Coach Brannigan decided to go up in the air and he connected with "The Bus" on a 66-yard blazing open field touchdown as Bettis broke free out of the Pittsburgh backfield at their own 45-yard to give the Steelers a 14-7 lead with 6:32 remaining in the game! What an electrifying play by Bettis! On the ensuing kickoff to the Browns, Steelers John Stallworth made a great tackle open field tackle at the 35 yard line, stopping Jim Brown on the hardest hit of the game! The Browns would not quit. It was Browns running back Mike Pruitt who pick up the pace, running for nine, 17, and another 17-yards to the Steelers 21-yard line with just 30 seconds left in the game, when Ozzie Newsome broke Free against Jerome Bettis to score the game tying touchdown sending this game into overtime, tying the score 14-14! OMG what a game! And the Steelers won the overtime coin toss with Patty branigan going crazy! Overtime: On an electrifying 71-yard kick return by Lynn Swann in overtime, Swann ran right to the center of the field in a pile of players, somehow running behind Steelers Linebacker Greg Lloyd in the middle of traffic until Swann turned right, out of bounds! Coach Brannigan called field goal, and the game was over in :35 seconds in OT! The Steelers kicked a 29-yard field goal to win the game 17-14! The Steelers eliminate the Browns chances to go any further in the postseason. The Browns are (1-5) and we are trying to figure out the phenomenon why? This was a fierce playoff team last year, but when the momentum turns, things can go real bad, and that's the case for Matt Zoo-York's electric football play this season. Zoo has struggled at best. The league continues to get more competitive and for Coach Paddy Brannigan and his (3-3) Steelers, they aren't out of it yet. If they beat Coach Ed Viggs San Francisco 49ers (2-4) on the road next week, they would clinch the AFC North, and that's IF Baltimore loses to Coach Ed Viggs LA Chargers (5-1). Fate is interesting. How did the best coach in the league, Ed Viggs position himself like this? Bet your money on Viggs to win! The AFC playoff picture has become very complex at this point. Steelers star, Lynn Swann is on fire. Swann jumped to the #1 All-Purpose player in the AFC after Week #6 with 23 touches for 1372 all-purpose yards with seven touchdowns, five of the touchdowns 100-yard stompers! The Steelers could surprise if they play their cards right with their playmakers. For the Browns, running back Mike Pruitt finished the day with ten rushes for 86 yards against the Pittsburgh defense. Pruitt is now 5th in AFC Rushing with 48 carries for 397-yards, with five touchdowns. SADDLE UP! THE RAMS ARE BACK ON THE GRID WITH 17-14 OT WIN OVER BIGGS, LYNCH AND THE LOST SEAHAWKS! Rams (4-1) Seahawks (1-4) In our final Week #6 scheduled game, in the seven-game-season format for the LIEFL, it's Coach Joe Bino's LA Rams (4-1) at Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs Seattle Seahawks (1-4). "No matter what anyone in the league says, Bobby Biggs (4-13), has been abysmal in his rookie year as an LIEFL coach," said LI Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, Andrew M. Slawson. I haven't been impressed yet, but we will see. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt." We asked Billy O'C what he thinks about Biggs and O'C said, "Bobby B will be back next season and if I were you guys I'd be careful because he's coming for blood. I think he is an excellent coach who will meet the learning curve." It's a chance for the Rams to reclaim their status in the league after winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 2018, in LIEFL Super Bowl XIV, beating the Los Angeles Chargers, and then again in 2019, in LIEFL Super Bowl XV, beating the Miami Dolphins 44-41 in OT! There haven't been many questions in the lineup when it comes to the Rams this season. They performed beautifully thus far, with a quadruple threat in the backfield of Wendell Tyler, Eric Dickerson, Ricky Proehl, and the Reverend, Isaac Bruce. The Rams clinched the division, and now it's time to hone in on the skills which won them two Super Bowl's. Los Angeles also has an opportunity to become one of the most decorated teams in the LIEFL behind Miami, if they can make it to another Super Bowl. But the Rams will need to really step it up against a spoiler-ready Seahawks team who are ready to rumble. Any battle on the road is competitive, but this would be a nice win for the Rams against a tough Seahawks team. Even though the Seahawks have won just one game, they are not to be mistaken for a walkover. Things didn't work out the way rookie coach Bobby Biggs planned, but Biggs is no quitter no matter what the venue. Biggs said, "It's been such a disappointment that I have not a single team that qualifies for the playoffs in this league. I played terrible and I let this team down. I feel just as much part of the team as a coach. I made way too many mistakes, but have learned from each of them. I still think this is an equal matchup between these two teams. Over the winter I will work with my line and put them up against guys from my old league to see how they fare. We're ready to make our moves today." The Rams-fab five defensive line is imposing, and their linebackers Jack Youngblood and Nolan Cromwell, need to come through today in order to limit Lynch. "There's no stopping him, but we can limit him, and that's what we need to do, just play in-your-face hard nosed electric football," said Joe Bino. Coach Joey Pizz said, "We don't really know what happened to the Seahawks this year. They were projected to compete strong for the NFC West title, but Bobby Biggs made lots of mistakes, which cost the Seahawks a season. The One shining Star is Marshawn Lynch." Before this week's games Lynch ranked an impressive second in NFC all-purpose yards, with 41 touches for 1,208 yards, with ten touchdowns, including one 100-yard runback! Lynch has been a beast as usual, and he's feared amongst coaches in the league because he brings that game every week. THE GAME: On the opening kickoff it was Marshawn Lynch who returned the ball 53-yards for Seattle. The Seahawks pushed the Fab-Five back and forth in the battle trenches. Lynch chipped his way for just 8 yards, short of the first down, and the Rams brought the war in the trenches. Seahawks receiver Joey Galloway broke away on 3rd down for the Hawks, to gain the first down at the 31-yard line of the Rams. On the next play, Bobby Biggs threw a missile to Marshawn Lynch for a 31-yard touchdown pass to give Seattle the lead 7-0, in the first half! On the Rams first kick return it was Isaac Bruce who ran the ball back 41-yards, setting up the Los Angeles running game. To start the second half, Wendell Tyler ran three times in a row, and he picked up six yards, just four yards shy the first down. Then on third down, the Reverend, Isaac Bruce broke Free for a 53-yard touchdown reception to tie the score at 7-7, with 9:57 remaining in the game! After helping himself to a 71-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff, Marshawn Lynch on first down blasted through the center of the field and then right through the Rams defense for a 29-yard touchdown scamper to put Seattle ahead 14-7! On the ensuing kickoff it was Isaac Bruce again who ran back 40-yards. Wendell Tyler picked up the pace for the Rams with an 18-yard run and then he was stopped on two runs with time running out. On 3rd down Coach Bino threw a beautiful pass right through two Seahawks defenders, hitting Eric Dickerson right on the back. Dickerson blazed 51-yards to into the endzone, tying the game 14-14, as the game clock ran out of time, sending the game into overtime! The Rams have been nothing short of impressive today. And this is just the way Bobby Biggs season has gone. The Rams won the overtime coin toss! Unbelievable! But this is what it takes to win games and Bino did a great job getting this game to where it is right now by playing the clock perfectly! The clock is the enemy for Bobby Biggs and his professional play unpolishing the game that Marshawn Lynch played. Lynch was unstoppable, but one man is not enough to own a game, it takes the other ten working together. He still had a big game with nine touches for 192 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns. On a final play of the game the demoralized Bobby Biggs underestimated Isaac Bruce, the veteran. Bruce ran back an 83-yard electrifying kick return to make way for the Rams game winning a field goal from 22 yards away to beat the Seahawks 17-14 in :29 seconds of overtime! LA is (5-1) after winning their fourth straight game, and second in a row on the road heading into the final week of the regular season in the LIEFL to play Cincinnati (2-4) in Los Angeles! Isaac Bruce topped 1,000 all-purpose yards for the season! The Rams have a rare opportunity to win their 90th LIEFL game next week! Coach Bino goes to (11-3) and Bobby Biggs slumps at (4-14). Marshawn Lynch has been a beast up to the last week of the season. The workhorse has touched the ball 50 times for 1,400 all-purpose yards, with 12 touchdowns! Want to buy him? Unbelievable and messy. Baltimore has the better Division record than Houston for the #6 Seed THE COMPLICATED WAR FOR THE #5 AND #7 SEEDS IN THE AFC! WHO WILL FOLD DOWN THE STRETCH? HUGE RAMIFICATIONS: Battling for #5 AND #7 Seed is Houston, New England, and Las Vegas. Houston has the better Division record than New England, and Las Vegas for the #7 Seed, but if Pittsburgh beats Cleveland and San Francisco in a miracle, they will knock out both New England and Las Vegas because they would be (2-1) in the Division, and that is a better Division record than both New England and Las Vegas. But Pittsburgh’s battle for the Division will depend on how Houston plays against Carolina, but also how Baltimore plays. WOW! If the Patriots beat Denver, they could possibly get in at (4-3) as the #6 Seed if Houston loses to Carolina, and Las Vegas loses to Detroit. Baltimore is still in the battle for the AFC North with Pittsburgh. If Baltimore loses to the Chargers at LA, they would be (3-4), and if Pittsburgh loses to Cleveland they would be eliminated at (2-4), or if they win, Pittsburgh will remain in contention at (3-3), so Week#7 would be a brawl for the AFC North title. Pittsburgh has an outside chance because Baltimore faces the LA Chargers at LA and they are not expected to beat the Chargers, but if Pittsburgh beats both Cleveland and San Francisco, they would be (4-3). They will win the Division in that case. If they lose one of the two games they would tie with Baltimore, both at (3-4), but Baltimore would win the Division because they beat Pittsburgh in Week #1 21-14! 18. Gobble Gobble, Go! Hope you and your families had a Happy Thanksgiving! That was the feeling yesterday when we showed at Coach Levi Vick's house on Thanksgiving morning, dedicated to electric football and the hobby! You couldn't help but be anxious in wanting to get these committed games underway so we wasted no time! Coach Johnny-Freeport couldn't wait to play as he amped up the energy saying, "This is a big day for my Ravens and while you clowns are joking around, I am all business. We came here seeing dollars and victory against Bino's stolen valor using the Colts to cover his talent. With running back Joseph Addai, who needs a coach. Freeport and Bino are two of the funniest wiseguy types, with heavy New York accents you could ever meet. It's all showmanship, but it doesn't dismiss the magnitude of the game for Johnny-Freeport. This is his chance for Freeport to take the lead in the AFC North. We got the Giants (3-2) at Cowboys (3-2), the Colts (4-1) at Ravens (3-2), and the Vikings (1-4) at Lions (2-3)! COWBOYS COOK GIANTS 10-3 IN GOBBLEFEST GAME 1! Giants (3-2) Cowboys (3-2) How about them Blu-Uni's Dallas is wearing? Rarely worn, they were painted and decaled by Billy O'C in 2019. The Cowboys opening kickoff wasn't so pretty though. It's not what they expected from the usually reliable Terrell Owens. Owens ran out of bounds at the 35-yard line to open the game, but on first down Emmitt Smith and the Cowboys Frontline exploded on the Giants. Smith ran for a 20-yard first down, forcing New York to make adjustments. Smith had some real pop in his step. On the next play the Cowboys took charge in the trenches with Emmitt Smith again, running for another 17-yard first down. He's on fire! ... The Giants had to make some moves. They moved Leonard Marshall the nose tackle after those two big runs by Emmitt Smith, and New York temporarily changed the inside game in the trenches, with all the pushing by the Giants, the next play curved the force of the Dallas Cowboys line to the left which created an beautiful opening for Emmitt Smith who took full advantage of the gravitational pull, running 29-yards into the end zone for the touchdown, the first of the day, to give Dallas the lead 7-0! WOW! The New York football Giants started out with a beautiful Ahmad Bradshaw 42-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff. The Giants Frontline on offense took over with Leonard Marshall in the middle as Shaquon Barkley ran for 10, 20, and another 10-yard first down before Dallas caught up shut Barkley down in the backfield for a huge 24-yard loss. Coach Joey Pizz thought he would try to run again, and that was a big mistake against this Dallas defense with the first half coming to a close. The Cowboys came up big on second down at the start of the second half forcing Barkley out of bounds at their own 48-yard line. The story quickly became the Cowboys defense! They played with a fierce playoff like attitude. Larry Allen, Cowboys nose man is on fire at the moment forcing the Giants and Coach Pizz to air it out with the hopes that he can connect with one of his four great receivers. On this pass play the Giants were stopped at the 45-yard line of Dallas for a pickup of seven yards forcing the Giants to kick the field goal, 37-yard shy of the first down, but the Giants made the field goal. Dallas came to play, and they're beating the pants off of the Giants, 7-3! Dallas handed the football to Michael Irvin who returned a beautiful 49-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff. They weren't taking any chances with Owens messy play today. But Dallas struggled to get a first down running the ball and the Giants defense kicked in with tackle Dave Diehl making big plays. The Cowboys were forced to kick a field goal from 49-yards to take the lead 10-3, with 4:19 remaining in the game. We will see if the field goal pays off for the Cowboys especially since Ahmad Bradshaw will be returning the football in the Giants last drive. With 2:29 remaining in the game Michael Irvin made a game changing huge play tackling Shaquon Barkley in the backfield for an 8-yard loss at a time when the New York needed a big play and lots of yardage. The Giants will be lucky if they have two plays left but their hopes were beginning to crumble. If Dallas beats the Giants they would have a sure shot at making the playoffs over them. The Giants just couldn't get it done on a huge play Ahmad Bradshaw took a sizzling pass play 15 yards but he was turned around by his own man with an open field in front of him, which could have tied the game. Instead, that did it for the Giants (3-3), the defending NFC Champions were finished for this week anyway! And New York ran out of time, turning the power in the NFC East back over to Dallas (4-2), and Coach Levi Vick, who will compete with Ed Viggs Washington Redskins (6-0) and the rest of the NFC for a shot at the 2023 playoffs! Vick is showing his skills this year after a two year learning curve. The Giants have a small chance to make it in, and who knows what a Wild Card Team will do in the Tournament. We have had two Wild Card Super Bowl winners in the LIEFL. The Buffalo Bills, and the Kansas City Chiefs. There were no 100-yard players in the game. It became a strong defensive game which is more of we will see when we inch closer to the playoffs. What a game for the Cowboys who dominated in a 10-3 win! COLTS STUN JOHNNY-FREEPORT'S RAVENS 14-6! Colts (4-1) Ravens (3-2) The Indianapolis Colts have had quite the season at (4-1). They're living in an electric football world of accomplishments at the moment after winning their 80th game against the Steelers in overtime 27-21, but that's not all ... their defense has been super! Colts Linebacker Robert Mathis was earned in the 2022 draft and he has anchored in the trench warfare. The Colts only lost this season was against a very gritty New England Patriots football team, and while the Patriots don't score a lot of points, opponents don't score many off of them either. Remember when they used to be the old Baltimore Colts? People loved them. As a matter of fact, in LIEFL 1983 season when we changed over to Indianapolis it was hard to get used to their new identity. That's all psychological because we are creatures of habit who don't like change, for some of us. We seem to be in this league big on identity, but the Colts were involved in one of the best games in the LIEFL history. It was the AFC WIld Card Game in the 1983 LIEFL season when Coach Joe Pizz Colts and Coach Joe Bino's Broncos faced off in a brutal battle. Denver (8-6) was coming off a (14-1) 1982 season, when the Broncos were upset in the playoffs by Buffalo, 28-27. The Indianapolis Colts have a history of playing big in important games. The game between the Colts-Broncos ended in a Broncos victory over the Colts 33-32, and it gave the Colts a new reputation to be feared in the playoffs with Colts running back Curtis Dickey (Right) being a force in a game that could have gone either way. Curtis Dickey ended his LIEFL career with 4,644 yards with 42 touchdowns! And, as good as Dickey's popularity soared for the Colts, when we re-started our beloved league in 2008, we flipped coins to determine who the new owners of 32-teams would be, and Coach Billy O'C took over the Colts and created the new era Colts with Joseph Addai (LEFT BELOW) in the backfield. Addai has delivered more than 7,600 all-purpose yards with 57 touchdowns for his Colts since the Billy O'C takeover! When all is said and done, Addai an unpopular player in the NFL, will be one of the most decorated and electrifying players in the LIEFL. The biggest piece of the puzzle missing for the contentious Colts is a Super Bowl title. The Colts have only gotten better over the years, but this roster that they're playing with this year would have given that Denver Broncos team quite the game in 83'. They lost to Denver the year after also in 1991-92, 28-21. But since then these Indianapolis Colts have been to three Super Bowl tournaments and in 2018, they lost in overtime and the AFC Divisional Championship Game. Then in 2019, they lost a close AFC Wild Card game against Oakland 38-34, and in 2020 as a (6-1) team the Colts got their sweet revenge on the Broncos, beating Denver 27-10, again, in the AFC Wild Card Game. Years may go by, but sometimes those old rival feelings inside don't die. The Baltimore Ravens have played well this season keeping every game close. They started the season with a big win over the Steelers 21-14, for their 40th win in their history. Then they slipped a bit losing two in a row on the road to the Titans and the Rams. But in the last two games, they've been on fire beating San Francisco 17-14, and the Browns on the road at Cleveland 17-14, in overtime. Ravens Coach Johnny-Freeport has his team on a roll and today's game, but Baltimore has not run the ball well. Running back Jamal Lewis had 39 touches for 487 yards last season with eight touchdowns, compared to this season where he has just 21 rushes for 138 yards and a single touchdown rushing. That should be a concern for Freeport, but he ignored the concern stating, "Why worry when you have a seven time LIEFL All-Pro in Derrick Mason. He's the badass putting points on the board with five 100-yard touchdowns and over 800 yards. I'm not worried about statistics. I don't play for statistics. What I play for is wins, and that's just the way it is. I'm not worried about how many yards these guys have. All this historic mumbo-jumbo that these guys and Billy O'C are talks about is good for them, but for me, I couldn't care less. Again, what I am playing for is the money. There's nothing better than having $3,200 dollars in play money at the end of the season. That rule of splitting it in half, because of me, is going to get changed." The Ravens won the AFC North four times and they have participated in the playoffs a total six times so this is a very good team. Freeport continued, "There is no coach in this league better than me when I am on and today I am coming for blood in both of my games!" Coach Joe Bino said, "Here we go, this guy doesn't ever stop. Let's get this game on." Nevertheless, the Ravens have had some big playmakers on this team especially on defense with Tony Siragusa "The Goose." Goose has seven tackles, and he's made a showing in every game this season running through tackles making big plays. As a team the Ravens have 23 tackles and 10 touchdowns to date. This is Baltimore's 10th season in the league they were birthed in 2000, when they went (10-4), making it all the way to the AFC Divisional Championship Game where they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-27! THE GAME: The opening kickoff was returned by LIEFL All-Pro Derrick Mason 44-yards and hit hard by Colts Bronco Nagurski. It was a gritty clock killing drive for Johnny-Freeport's Baltimore Ravens on the opening drive, but Baltimore was met with force. Ravens Running back Jamal Lewis ran five times for 26 yards until teammate on a third down attempted Mark Andrews was way too close to coverage resulting in a missed pass by Johnny-Freeport. Johnny-Freeport's Ravens kicked the longest field goal in LIEFL history from 63-yards away, and it gave the Ravens the lead 3-0, with 4:19 to go in the half! Freeport put his fist up in the air not even knowing that that was the longest kick ever. We questioned how far was the longest and then saw it in the record book. Prior to that we had a 62-yard field goal by coach Patty Branigan's Chicago Bears in 2008! What a kick! On the ensuing kickoff Joseph Addai took action, blasted off for a 50-yard kick return hit by Jamal Lewis at the 50! One play later, Addai blazed around the left side of his offensive line like a master, bolting 50-yards into the endzone on an electrifying run to put Indianapolis ahead, 7-3! On the next kickoff for the Ravens Derrick Mason returned a strong 61-yarder to set up Jamal Lewis and his front line at the 39-yard line in great field position and that ended the first half. On first down, it was Ravens running back Jamal Lewis who exploded on a 21-yard run, bringing the ball to the 18-yard line of the Colts. On second down it was all Colts pushing Baltimore back 12-yards for the loss. On the next first down, the Ravens had no answers for the Colts defense on two running tries. On 3rd down, Johnny- Freeport nearly got sacked by Colts Joseph Addai but Derrick Mason escaped shy of the first down on a 14-yard play, 17 yards short of the first down. The Ravens were forced to kick another field goal, this time from 36-yards away to make the score 7-6, Colts still in the lead and in a battle with 9:29 remaining in the game! Expect Indianapolis coach Bino to try to kill the clock! On the Colts next possession Joseph Addai blazed 71-yards on the kickoff. bringing the ball to the 29-yard line of the Ravens. What a kick return for Addai! We were looking at Robert Mathis the linebacker for the Colts, and he is a big player for a 67 Big-Man. He has been the anchor and key to the Colts success. He is wide, he's tall, and he's strong. He is certain to be a big time Pro Bowl pick. Speaking of linebackers, the Ravens have their own big time guy in Ray Lewis. On first down for the Colts, Lewis made a colossal hit that we could actually hear as he collided with Joseph Addai after Addai made the first down at the 19 yard line of the Ravens. What a hit! This Thanksgiving Day brawl game doesn't get any more epic, unless you're on the field. Johnny-Freeport went mad on that last hit using a couple of profanities to explain the hit. With 6:43 remaining in the game Baltimore tackle Tony "Goose" Siragusa has been quiet all day playing up against Colts tackle Tony Parker who has played great against him. Ravens tight end Mark Andrews made a huge hit on Joseph Addai in the backfield on the next play, and the Colts lost 12-yards on the play. Just as we said "The Goose" was not involved in the game, he made a big tackle on Addai at the line of scrimmage. Addai has taken some huge hits, bringing up a third down play for Indianapolis with 3:43 now remaining in the game. The Colts had every intention of running the clock out in this game in a brilliant game played by Coach Joe Bino as time ran down, Bino's Colts upset Johnny-Freeports Baltimore Ravens 14-6, with a 16-yard touchdown mouth-smashing pass to Marvin Harrison to collapse the Ravens as Johnny-Freeport's Ravens lose the Colts! Both defenses played fantastic today, but Indianapolis played at an elite level on the road under pressure! Wow Indianapolis Colts (5-1) are on their way to the playoffs again with a beautiful performance on the road! The Ravens (3-3) are not finished yet. They still have a chance to compete for the AFC North title! The teams who win on the road are the elite teams in any League. Colts running back Joseph Addai had 7 touches for 183 all-purpose yards, with one 100 yard touchdown return as well. He carried the football five times for 62-yards rushing, including a 50-yard touchdown scamper for the star back. It was Derrick Mason who carried Baltimore, but the Colts kept Mason from scoring. And the Ravens were held to just two field goals! What a finish! BUSSEY PUTS ON A THANKSGIVING DAY SHOW IN 17-14 WIN OVER VIKINGS! Vikings (1-4) Lions (2-3) Another player we have featured in our league is Dexter Bussey who will play against a ginormous Vikings defense today. Bussey's popularity in the LIEFL is far greater than his NFL popularity, although he was at the end of his NFL career when Superstar and Heisman Trophy winner Billy Simms from the University of Oklahoma became a force in his rookie NFL season, Bussey never complained, he just did his job rushing for 5,105 yards with 18 career touchdowns. Sims didn't do what Bussey has for the LIEFL Lions though. In our league he's known as "The Man" or "Dexter" and the impact he's made has been over the life of our league. The Detroit Lions should be able to win this game at home but judging by their game to game activity this season, they lost a big game to Kansas City at home 23-17, in overtime. Then the Lions lost to Green Bay, 17-10. They haven't won a single game on the road this year, and they've made some great draft choices, but they have to get in sync in order to win. There's no better time to win than now. Detroit plays the Raiders next week at Las Vegas. The Raiders are red hot, so that should be a terrific offensive game from both teams between Dexter Bussey and Raiders superstar, Dave Casper. Detroit got off to a bad 2023 start in a 31-28 brawl that they lost in overtime to the rising Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Superstar Dexter Bussey has rushed for just 212-yards on 30 touches, with three touchdowns. His big numbers are on kick returns where he has 14 touches for 914-yards with four 100-yard touchdown returns, giving him 1,160 all-purpose yards, with eight touchdowns on the season. But Bussey has slowed up the last few games. His two biggest games where game one and game two against Tampa Bay and Kansas City, where Bussey had a combined 807 all-purpose yards, with seven touchdowns in those few games. Then everything just came to a halt against three tough defensive teams in Minnesota, Green Bay, and believe it or not, the New Orleans Saints. Worth noting is the loss Detroit had in Week #3 to these Vikings 17-14, so we don't expect this game to be any different other than that the Lions have home field advantage with an opportunity to win and stay in the playoff hunt. The Vikings are out of it because Green Bay is (4-2), and in the lead in the NFC North. It would give Vikings Coach Joey Pizz no better feeling than to upset the Lions at home and spoil their playoff hopes today. Everyone in the league thought the Vikings were going to be a huge contender this season, but it's not the way it turned out. Minnesota has only won one game and that was against Detroit. The Vikings lost last week to Denver 14-7 at home to those tough determined Broncos. They lost the week before 14-7 as well to Atlanta, and next week they face New Orleans at home. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, unfortunately has not put up big numbers this season. He has 39 touches for 689 all-purpose yards, and just a single touchdown this season. That is where the Vikings have gone wrong. We're seeing Justin Jefferson become a consistent kick returner for the Vikings which is very important. Jefferson has four touches for 183-yards on kick returns and they are determined to see him grow. THE GAME: With all the big shot names on this field, they need no introduction, but needless to say Vikings tackle Carl Eller, who's one of the best in the game in this league, is up against NFC leading tackler Lomas Brown of the Lions. That's a colossal matchup at tackle. On the opening kickoff, LIEFL superstar and Lions running back Dexter Bussey ran a sweet, but jolting 50-yard kick return on some heavy hitting to start the game. The intensity was real. On first down Bussey ran 8-yards, two yards shy of the next set of first downs. On second down, it was all Detroit with another nine yards for Bussey, but it was a huge matchup on the line lots of battles. Great division matchups usually have intensity and that's exactly what this game is having right now. Which coach will deliver in the ground and air game? Who will come up big in the game against two fierce rivals in Coach Joey Pizz and his Vikings against Johnny-Freeport and his legendary Lions? Freeport was saying that he has nothing to say, Dexter Bussey will do all the talking on the field today, especially on Thanksgiving for this show. We've seen it so many times before when it comes to Dexter Bussey and after being surged back by the Vikings Purple-People Eater defense, Bussey and the Lions defense blasted through a hole for a 32-yard touchdown run by Bussey right through the middle and heart of the Vikings defense to make the score 7-0 Lions, with 8:43 remaining in the half! That was the play that Johnny-Freeport was looking for, and he yelled out, "All day baby!" It seems the Lions have picked up their game and pace as they battle to try to make the Super Bowl tournament and Johnny-Freeport's lack of social graces when it comes to the mean game of football shows just how vicious he can be with lots of unnecessary taunting. And with razor sharp precision, on the ensuing kick return, Vikings rookie Justin Jefferson exploded for an electrifying 100-yard touchdown run, right past Johnny-Freeport's defending Lions to tie the score at 7-7, with 7:10 remaining in the half! Wow! Joey Pizz shouted, "Eat that turkey baby!" The Vikings are really building their confidence in Jefferson. Coach Joey Pizz spoke too soon. On the Lions next kick return, Mr. Dexter Bussey blazed down field with his own 100-yard touchdown run to take the lead 14-7, and both coaches were laughing, but serious with Johnny-Freeport just going ballistic taunting coach Pizz! Coach Pizz just kept laughing saying, "Have you looked at the clock, the game's not over yet." What a run by Dexter Bussey. The Lions and Vikings are on fire here in this division rival, and the gloves are off with some good hard smash mouth football! On the next kickoff, Lions linebacker Chris Spielman came up with a big hit on Minnesota's Justin Jefferson, who ran the ball back 43-yards. Finally, we will see Adrian Peterson handle the football. Peterson's been a bit of a disappointment for the Vikings this year, but Joey Pizz claims he's fine, and that there's nothing wrong with him. Just as we said that, Peterson bolted 47-yards for a first down to the 10-yard line of the Lions. What a explosion! Peterson ran right through the Detroit Lions front line and the Lions will switch things around and make the necessary adjustments very fast. The battle between Lomas Brown and Carl Eller is phenomenal, and Vikings tackle Jared Wright is quite a tackle himself, so either one of those guys on Lomas Brown will do with 1:12 remaining in the half. That was a heavy run by Minnesota. The next play the Vikings lost 13 yards, and that play ended the first half. It was a brilliant first half played by Johnny-Freeport, and Pizz played great as well. We can't knock either coach. To start the second half, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson followed Carl Eller around the right side of the offensive line and into the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown to tie the score at 7-7! The Vikings Frontline is so fast that they stopped Dexter Bussey in his tracks at the 33-yard line of detroit on a big hit by Adrian Peterson on the ensuing kick return for the Lions! On first down Bussey was dragged down behind the line of scrimmage. But on second down he exploded 10-yards for the first down at the 43-yard line. Both Jared Wright and Carl Eller converged through their tackle positions to make a huge hit on Bussey, but it didn't stop Bussey from getting the first down. With 8:37 remaining in the game Dexter Bussey exploded 32 yards to the Vikings 25-yard line for another first down for Detroit. On first down, Bussey ran for another 10-yard first down, but then he was stopped on two straight runs stuffed by Vikings rookie linebacker DJ Wonnum and Carl Eller again. Eller is such a force in the league. We'll never forget how he came up so big and last year's playoffs against the Panthers. On third down with 2:22 remaining in the game with the clock running, the Lions and Johnny-Freeport went up in the air, but the Lions were in Jeopardy of being sacked, forcing a fourth down and there was noone open on the play. The Vikings still had a chance to win this game putting the ball in the hands of the rookie Justin Jefferson with 49 seconds remaining. On the last play of the game, Justin Jefferson tried to get to the outside of the field, but he was hit hard by Lions rookie tackle, Tommy Kraemer to save the game for the Detroit Lions! The Vikings did a hurry up field goal attempt with 16 seconds left in the game, but the kick went far left, and Johnny Freeport went wild with excitement with his huge win over the Minnesota Vikings 17-14! What a Thanksgiving Day game! Johnny Freeport handed coach Joey Pizz the game ball, and that was the biggest upset of all handing Pizz the game ball. That was an intense battle between two great rivalries! The Lions (3-3) continue to strive to get into the playoffs. For the Vikings it was a great battle and they have nothing to be ashamed of! The story of the day was Dexter Bussey who torched the Vikings, touching the ball 14 times for 284 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, including 100-yard touchdown run back. Bussey also had 10 rushes for 101 yards, including a 32 yard touchdown scamper. He played a fantastic game. So too did Justin Jefferson the rookie for the Vikings, who touched the ball three times for 183 all-purpose yards, with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown in the game! Sensational finish to the day time to go eat turkey for this afternoon!
  19. (Long Island Electric Football League) November 23, 2022. Happy Thanksgiving! Tradition is so important in our families, especially our EFL family. We learned you don't have to travel the country to find competition. Long Island is loaded with it in our own backyard! There were some great games yesterday and today up first at 9am is games 92, 93, and 94 of the 112 regular season games played in the 2023 EFL season! Check out the action. Coach Joey Pizz' New York Giants (3-2) have a tough game against third year coach Levi Vick's Dallas Cowboys (3-2) in their sixth game of the season. This one is sure to be a high-pressure game with intense coaching and decision making, just like a playoff game. Losing might set back either team in the fight to stay alive in the NFC playoff picture. The Washington Redskins (6-0), clinched the NFC East title, and they earned the first seed spot in the playoffs, but who will the other six teams be? ... This photo on the left of Dave Casper running down the center of the field, is a scene that New York Giants Coach Joey Pizz will never forget from 2008, LIEFL Super Bowl XI, and check it out, while LIEFL history is probably only important to us, our kids get to laugh at grown men still arguing about the Who's Who of Electric Football. Billy O'C had the savvy to shoot and save many pictures from this league over the years! On a very sad note, his mother who passed, was an international athlete from Cuba and legendary coach, somehow accidently threw pictures out of five childhood electric football shots from the 1970's, which were stored in a book. It was a heartbreak, but that's life. Again, Incredible, but he saved as much as he could to preserve league history, and we feel, that is what make this LIEFL league one of the most important in the world in our hobby, because we have the proof of its history! We never said best, but we can brag about it being historic on the grid of electric football history! Imagine, we now have an innovative Electric Football Historic Game Museum! This craft has grown leaps and bounds and we are honored to be a tiny part of its growth. We wish when we stop playing in 2025, that we can pass our tradition along to the younger generation, but we don't see many kids playing this game from Gen Z. None of our kids play the game and they have no interest. We want to know that the same love is given to our teams that we gave. In 2008, O'C started buying up all the 67-Big Men he could after a long hiatus from electric football. By that time, the internet exploded and finally, years later, we came across this guy by the name of Bryan Nutt, "Beenut", who sold decals. You all know Bryan as the owner of Tudor Games where he sits now. If not for Bryan, our teams wouldn't look so beautiful. We invested in every team as the LIEFL rebirthed itself. Before Bryan, we only numbered the backs of the player jersey's. Prior to that, the game had somehow been absent for years around the country before Mike Landsman started Miggle, and it was hard to buy the teams. Billy O'C sold all his Haiti and hogleg teams on ebay, which were in pristine condition, and he then used the money to buy any available 67-Big Men teams he could. At that time we couldn't make the uniforms like the lifelike ones' you see today. That was O'C's vision and the transformation to where we sit as a league today is incredible as we celebrate Thanksgiving. You can never count the Giants or the Cowboys out of anything when it comes to the NFC East because it's unpredictable. We think this is the best Giants team they've had since losing to the Oakland Raiders in LIEFL Super Bowl XI when Raiders frontman Dave Casper became famous in our league with a 100-yard kick return to start the game, and 100-yard kick return to end and win the game for Oakland in OT. The Giants are special though, with last year's top offensive player and record shattering Ahmad Bradshaw. He's part of a Giants tandem of Shaquon Barkley, Bradshaw and two terrific receivers named Odell Beckham Jr, and Mark Bavaro. Playing a game on the road in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day won't be easy for the Giants and Coach Joey Pizz. Pizz said, "We talked about the game last night and Levi has his Cowboys ready so my best bet is going to be to drag this game into overtime and beat his proud Cowboys because I can't stand Dallas." History is sometimes fascinating to us because we love comparing records and past games. In the LIEFL 1978 season, the NFC Divisional Game between the Giants and Cowboys was won by New York 24-17, but then the Giants lost the NFC Championship Game 21-17 to New Orleans. Then in 1982, New York beat Dallas again 41-35, in the NFC Wild Came. They went on to beat Washington in the Divisional Game, but then lost in the NFC Championship Game to San Francisco 38-21. There's quite a history between these two teams, and when it comes to the big spot, the Giants and Cowboys both are challenged as strong finishers. The Cowboys won their 90th game this season as a team and while they've accomplished 90 wins, they've yet to make it to the LIEFL Super Bowl. Levi Vick is no stranger to winning. Vick won two Super Bowl titles in his former Nassau County league. The closest Dallas has come in this league was in 1995, when they beat a tough New Orleans Saints team 16-13 in an overtime upset, but then they lost to the Redskins in the NFC Divisional Game 35-17. They were also involved in a record that has since been broken. In 2000, the Cowboys beat the Falcons 56-52 in the NFC Wild Card Game, which is still the third highest scoring game in LIEFL history. But then the following week Dallas lost to a fanatical revived Philadelphia Eagles team 35-20 in the NFC Divisional Championship Game. This coach Levi Vick brought the respect for the Cowboys back in 2020, by winning the NFC East! They would lose the NFC Wild Card Game to Washington 45-37 in a blistering battle that could have went either way. Now they're back! GAME 1 9:00AM Giants (3-2) -Cowboys (3-2) EACH GAME WILL BE WRITTEN UP AFTER THEY ARE PLAYED. This is a peak into the up-to-the minute playoff picture in the NFC. It looks like Carolina isn't backing down, and Green Bay has lost a step as the top dog in the NFC. These are some bad hombres lined up for battle in the flowery Super Bowl Tournament. We won't be going to Florida this season because New York Yankees guy Ray Negron whose documentary B A T B O Y, The Ray Negron story is nearly completed by Billy O'C. They have to stay in New York to complete the doc. 20. (Long Island Electric Football League) November 22, 2023. Written by Levi Vick, Joey Pizz, and Commissioner of the LIEFL, Billy O'C contributed. Here's wishing the Electric Football Community and Tudor Games a Happy Thanksgiving Week! The Long Island Electric Football League is getting excited as we wind down the 7th straight playoff season using the seven-game format which has worked brilliantly by our leader Billy O'C! It's the reason why we all stay so committed because it's about all the time we can give, but man it has been an incredible and vibrant run! Prior to the seven game season format, we played ten historic 14-game seasons. (LEFT: LIEFL 2019 PRO BOWL) It's almost that time to pick our All-Star Players in the LIEFL. This season we will use this star (Right Below) that Coach Matt Zoo-York customized for our LIEFL All-Pro Selections for the AFC-NFC teams. It is a beautiful star because it memorializes the life and career of unforgettable Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown, by making him the centerpiece of our customized All-Star. After next week's final regularly scheduled games, the AFC and NFC All-Pro Teams will be announced, voted on by the coaches in one meeting and the All-Pro selections will earn this star. Jim Brown is arguably one of the most influential figures in American sports history. His contributions to the game of football, as well as his impact on the civil rights movement, have had a lasting influence on the world, and his enduring influence on the game of football and society for athletes from many generations, is huge. Brown's legacy in the LIEFL is profound because as kids Jim Brown is remembered as a heroic figure. We aren't here to preach, we are sharing the value of people and the game we love. Like most people living in what some people consider the Melting Pot of America, our parents came from immigrants mostly from Italy, Cuba, Germany, Africa, France, and Ireland. They practiced what they preached. All children were welcome in our homes, and our parents were like every other parent in the neighborhood. They worked hard and taught us love and respect for people. They didn't care who people were, just as long as they/we were honest, decent, contributing citizens to our America without reservation and discrimination against others. We are so grateful they brought electric football into the home. That is the beauty of New York, in discovering our cultural differences. New York is a place where we are subjected to every culture and all ethnic backgrounds because of its vast mixed population. More importantly, we are mindful of our differences, which we embrace. Although the Browns haven't won a championship in our league, they are one of the most competitive teams we own. Jim Brown passed on May 18, 2023. Like all of you, we will never forget the first time Mom and Dad left a treasured game board under the Christmas tree. It was the start of an amazing and historic league and hobby for us! There is a criterion we use to select our Pro-Bowl All-Star teams which is awesome because we thoroughly go through each player on every roster from 32-teams, picking the top 70 of 352 players in our 67-Big Men LIEFL, using the following process: Weight of the team's schedule against playoff opponents or winning teams by wins-losses to determine the best players against the competition. We consider player(s) of the week status or huge games against playoff contending teams on a player-by-player basis. We rate by statistics, tackles, points allowed as a team, points scored as a team, and rankings determined by the quality of those players at their position vs. all players at their position from each team. And the final determination is comparison is by notes, memory, and the persuasion of their coaches by process of elimination to make the final selection and determination. We select First, Second Team All-Pro's from each Conference at Guard the top 9, at Running Back, at Tackle the top 5, at Receiver the top 6, at Linebacker the top 4, and on Special Teams we select the top 5 players. We then select an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year from each conference as well as a Long Island Electric Player of the Year for the entire league. For example, last year's AFC Offensive Player of the Year was Indianapolis Colts Joseph Addai. Addai finished the season with 73 touches for 1730 all-purpose yards with 15 touchdowns. In the NFC it was New York Giants Ahmad Bradshaw who stole the show! Bradshaw was a beast on Special Teams and he added the most value to the Giants run to the NFC Championship Game. He had a blistering 2022, with 21 touches for 1457 all-purpose yards with seven touchdowns, including six electrifying 100-yard touchdown returns in every big spot, and he was Pro-Bowl MVP, earning Bradshaw Long Island Electric Football League Offensive Player of the Year! On defense it was LA Chargers Ironman Earl Faison who earned Long Island Electric Football's Player of the Year Award, and from the NFC it was Arizona Cardinals Conrad Dobler who crushed opponents making huge plays at tackle. That's the top 35 players representing each conference. The Pro Bowl Game will be played December 29, a day before the Super Bowl. Rosters will be announced at the end of Week #7. Back to the business of Week #6. DOLPHINS WIN 5TH OF SEASON IN A PHILADELPHIA BRAWL IN OT! Eagles (1-4) - Dolphins (4-1) (Long Island Electric Football League). November 2023. All of the sudden Coach Matt Zoo-York’s Philadelphia Eagles (1-4) want to play football at a playoff level against Alternate Coach Joe Bino's (4-1) Miami Dolphins. Today, the Eagles put up a ferocious battle against Miami. The battle is never ending in the LIEFL and the coaches have to rise to the occasion to cross the finish line. Coach Joe Bino said of Matt Zoo-York's Eagles, "Who Dat?" An Eagles and Vikings fan, Bino said, "Where has Philadelphia been all year? That's the problem, they play when they feel like playing." Coach Joe Bino, who is substituting for Coach Billy O’C said, “I wasn't surprised at all by the Eagles performance. In fact, I expected it after the way they played last week in their 27-21, overtime win against Seattle. Teams just crumbled in the league. That team is hot! I scouted them well and knew that I would have to make adjustments against Zoo's line and stop Carmichael from destroying us on the kick returns. The Eagles have always been a good football team and when you have players like Byars and Carmichael, you have to try to contain those two guys or it's going to be a long day.” The same could be said for Miami when it comes to the “Mark's Brothers” Mark Clayton and Mark Duper, but then when you add legendary Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris behind the blocking of a fierce Frontline of Jason Taylor Larry Little, and Bob Kuechenberg, the #1 ranked LIEFL team of all time at (162-40), make the Dolphins a formidable opponent, and they are a quadruple threat for professional ballers. Miami's going to need that powerhouse blocking and more if they're going to beat the Buffalo Bills next week at Buffalo. If the Bills can beat the Chargers on the road today that will twist the power lever of the AFC East, towards Buffalo. Miami lost the division title in an upset to New England last year, but they still made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game as a Wild Card Team before losing to the defending LIEFL Super Bowl XVII Champion Kansas City Chiefs 58-57, in a historic game! This game came down to the final seconds in regulation, in a nail biter that went to the Miami Dolphins who battled a team of warriors, no matter what the Eagles record is. The Dolphins power front has a different feel to them this season, with Bino at the helm. Less emotional ties to a team show Bino's emotions separate from the skill and talent he has. He loves playing with Miami because of the team. They've been in this league over 50 years when Billy O’C created their dynasty. But every player on the team is different except for the running back so those old faces even though they're here in numbers in spirit, the player bases have changed. These two teams met in a fierce Super Bowl in the 1992 season in LIEFL Super Bowl IX, when the Dolphins edged the Eagles, 20-17. Lets not forget, Miami has been in the last three AFC Championship Games. Could they get back to the show? The Eagles record only speaks on paper, but it doesn't really speak about the team that they are. They just haven't performed the way they needed to perform on the road this year and that's what's kept them back, a lot of bad breaks. Coach Matt Zoo-York has to do a better job in the draft because these Eagles need to be able to compete in that NFC East which is one of the toughest divisions in the league. Coach Zoo said, "This draft I am focusing on my linebackers because that is the place where we have to win the battles." THE GAME: On Miami's first drive LIEFL All-Pro Mark Duper returned the opening kickoff 55-yards. On first down, the Eagles ran through the Dolphins offense, but Bino made several fast adjustments and the Dolphins regrouped by taking charge of the inside game featuring Mercury Morris who rushed for eight, 12, and finally 25 yards into the end zone to give Miami the lead 7-0, with 8:34 remaining in the half! Harold Carmichael came storming back with a renewed vengeance 47-yards on the Eagles first possession. Philadelphia struggled against the highly touted Miami front line. Keith Byars had three runs for 10-yards, and then on third down it was Carmichael who struck again as he broke free from Larry's Csonka, exploding on a powerful 44-yard into the end zone to tie the game at 7-7, to end the first half. Carmichael has been super in the past few games. Last week in Week #5, Carmichael sprayed the tough Seattle Seahawks with an entourage of numbers. He had four touches for 298 all-purpose yards with two 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns, silencing a playoff hopeful Seattle team! It was the Eagles first win of the season and Matt Zoo-York saw signs of life in his team. They brought a consistent energy in this Miami game. Carmichael broke the 1,000 all-purpose yard mark again this season after today's game! On the Dolphins next possession, Mark Duper returned the ball 50-yards on the ensuing kickoff. Miami had little time to work with but they moved the ball fast. After four straight runs and 30 yards gained on the ground, it was Mercury Morris who barreled his way in for the score on a 20-yard touchdown pass to that gave the Dolphins the go ahead lead, 14-7. With under three minutes to go, the Eagles poured it on with a speedy 23-yard kick return by Harold Carmichael who got stuck in the backfield by his own lineman who turned him in circles with an open field in front of him, until Carmichael was then blasted on a hard hit by Dolphins tackle AJ Duhe who made the stop. The Eagles wasted no time on first down. They threw an amazing bomb to Keith Byars who stunned Miami taking it 77-yards to the Dolphins 1-yard line with just 1:15 remaining in the game. On first down, it was Byars again who followed a wall of white Eagles jerseys, into the endzone for the score, tying the game at 14-14! That score left Miami with just 16 seconds, and not enough time to set up and to run the kickoff back. WOW! What a turn of events in a tremendous nail biter! We're going into overtime! OVERTIME: Luck must be on Bino's side today because he won the overtime coin toss for his Dolphins! This has been a game! On the overtime kick off Miami's Mark Duper blazed 75-yards in the big spot on a stunning run to the Eagles 25-yard line. The Dolphins ended it right there with a 25-yard field goal to earn their fifth victory of the season 17-14, in a well fought battle for both teams! Miami (5-1) heads to Buffalo in the final week of the LIEFL season in what will be their first big meaningful division battle of the year. That game may decide the AFC East Champion. Joe Bino has a dilemma. He also coaches the Bills. Buffalo (4-1) is at Los Angeles to play Coach Ed Viggs and his playmaking Chargers (4-1) this week. What a game that will be! TEXANS SPOIL BENGALS PLAYOFF CHANCES TO STAY ALIVE IN THE HUNT WITH 14-10 WIN! Texans (2-3) - Bengals (2-3). LIEFL's unpopular Loudmouth Coach Johnny-Freeport's Cincinnati Bengals have battled in every game this season starting with an opening day loss to division rival Cleveland 17-14, then they lost to Denver 21-17 in a see-saw battle. They seem to have found their niche at home though beating San Francisco and then the Browns on their second runaround. Last week, the Bengals lost a tough game to division rival Pittsburgh 17-14, which leads us to today's game against the dangerous and unpredictable Texans. We say dangerous because we don't know who is going to show up. Somehow Levi Vick's Texans lost to the Falcons 14-3, last week when they should have scored more points. That gave Falcons coach Johnny-Freeport more fuel for his trash-talking. Freeport thinks Vick is an average coach, but lets' see him put his money where his mouth is with this Texans-Bengals game on the line. Cincinnati's Ickey Woods has rushed for 229 yards with four touchdowns, including a 69-yard run compared to last year's Woods, who rushed for 385 yards with five touchdowns. The difference in the Bengals offense though, has been Chris Collinsworth. Collinsworth has 710 all-purpose yards on 13 touches with four touchdowns, including three 100-yard touchdown scampers in 2023. Not to mention, the Bengals have Chad Ocho-Cinco Johnson, who's four touches and 192 yards with one touchdown have added a new dimension to this Cincinnati quadruple threat offense. What makes this game interesting is not just that both of these teams are chasing a playoff run, but their resurgence of their special teams plays is winning games for Cincinnati with seconds to go in the games. If Levi Vick, Houston Texans coach can help it, they will bring their best today on the road. Houston has their two victories on the road oddly enough. Vick's Texans are gaining ground in the division in the unpredictable and wild AFC South, and it's a division we never know who's going to show up. One thing is for certain, the Texans have improved since the first week of the LIEFL 2023 season. In the upcoming draft Levi Vick has to focus on linebackers get better at covering running backs out of the backfield. While the Texans have pulled off some surprises like beating New Orleans in the last seconds of the game 14-13 this season, Ron Dayne has been streaky at best. The thing is when he gets hot there are few better running backs in the league that can do what Dayne does on kick returns and running the football in the trenches. "Will the real Ron Dayne please show up in today's game," laughed Levi Vick. Johnny-Freeport's Bengals opened the game with a Chris Collinsworth 58-yard kick return but the Bengals had their problems from the start. Ickey Woods ran the ball four times and he only had four yards. Cincinnati was stopped on the run so Freeport went to the air where he hit running back Archie Griffin out of the backfield for a key 11-yard first down, and then Cincinnati struggled from that point on in the series relying on an untested Griffin again to earn another first down for 10 yards. The Texans defense played fantastic once again pounding the pavement with the Bengals offensive line. We haven't forgotten that this is the same Houston team that got blown out in week one against Indianapolis. Houston then surprised the league with a respectable loss to the Miami Dolphins, 3-0. Next, Levi Vick made a lot of adjustments with his Texans and they proved to be very effective. On 4th down Cincinnati kicked the 24-yard field goal to take the lead 3-0. There was no holes barred on this one, the gloves came off. Texans Ron Dayne made it clear that he was coming for the Bengals as he ran back an electrifying 100-yard touchdown run with epic blocking in front of him on the Texans first possession to give Houston the lead 7-3, ending the first half! What a powerful play! It was Chris Collinsworth who ran back a 41-yard kickoff to open the second half. Cincinnati running back Ickey Woods started to pick up his running game after Archie Griffin failed on his first two tries running the ball. It took Chris Collinsworth's 20-yard reception to set up Woods, who took the ball back off of Griffin again. This time Woods ran for a 10-yard first down, and on the next play, Woods exploded on an inside run for a 32-yard touchdown run to give the Bengals a 10-7 lead! Wow! The Bengals used up a lot of time on the drive. Houston fired right back with a fast 30-yard kick return by Ron Dayne only to be met by LIEFL All-Pro Brian Blados at the 30-yard line on a huge-impact hit. The Texans again worked quick with time running out of the in the game. On first down, Ron Dayne exploded for a 23-yard first down and then, Coach Vick with a minute left to go in the game decided to air it out. He threw a perfect rocket down the right sideline to tight end Ryan Griffin who took the ball 47-yards into the end zone to win the game 14-10, for the hard working Houston Texans! This is a huge upset for the Texans who again, took a team to the final seconds of the game in regulation to pull off a major upset, crushing the Bengals hopes and eliminating them from the AFC Playoffs. Wow! This was a nail biter right to the finish line. It is a reminder that no team is safe from an upset in this league regardless of the team. Ron Dayne finished the day with three touches for 153-yards with one explosive 100-yard kick return for a touchdown. It was Ryan Griffin who won the game for the Texans (3-3), who are still alive in the playoffs. Chris Collinsworth ended the day with three touches and 119 yards, and Ickey Woods had one touchdown run with 46 yards rushing on 6 attempts. The Texans have a huge game hosting the red-hot Panthers (4-2) next week, and the Bengals will head to LA to play the Rams. BRONCOS DOMINATE IN 15-0 SHUTOUT OVER BEARS! Bears (2-3) - Broncos (3-2) This will be a fiery game between Coach Paddy Brannigan's Chicago Bears and his Denver Broncos challenges him with a hard choice of which team he will choose to play with. Alternate Coach Joe Bino will make the choice for him by playing with Brannigan's Bears. Bino is (9-2) and Chicago is battling to make the playoffs for the first time in a long time which pressures Denver to capitalize on their defense. Many coaches feel Bino plays much more consistent than Billy O'C. Last week Chicago won their 100th historic career game beating Kansas City 17-14! But the Bears also lost a crucial home game to their biggest rival, Green Bay 24-21 in OT, which may come back to bite the Bears hard. The Bears are a different performing team because they've established a running game this season. They have played well with Walter Payton carrying the ball while Willie Gault has been nothing less than outstanding as a contributor to this Bears offense. Gault comes into this game with 16 touches for 1010 yards with two receiving touchdowns, and four 100-yard touchdown returns! Payton ranked 5th in rushing after five weeks with 26 carries for an impressive 421 yards with seven touchdowns, including a huge 65-yard touchdown run against the Falcons in Week #1 out of the gate, compared to his 41 carries and 364-yards six touchdown 2022 season. Chicago has not even tapped into Mike Ditka yet. Ditka is an explosive tight end when he's playing. To win this game the Bears are going to have to win some playmaking defense. When the Broncos play at home running back Terrell Davis is one of the most electrifying players in the league. The Broncos work hard on both sides of the ball but they'll have to rise to the occasion today and treat this like a playoff game because the Bears are no joke. Should the Bears win this game they will be tied for first place with Green Bay and then the playoff hopes will fall on the last game of the season. THE GAME: The Denver Broncos defense made life a lot harder for the Chicago Bears and their survival to make the playoffs. Denver dominated on both sides of the ball not so much by power, but by strategy. Coach Joe Bino had Paddy Brannigan's Bears ready, but the game didn't go the way he thought it would. In the first series of downs it was all Denver. LIEFL All-Pro Terrell Davis launched a spectacular 100-yard touchdown run to open the game for Denver. Broncos 7-Bears 0! Davis just whizzed right toward the middle of the field and then veered right into the end zone for the score. On Chicago's first kick return Chicago sensation Willie Gault sped 47-yards downfield until he crashed with none other than Terrell Davis. Chicago ran the ball four times and they could only muster up 7-yards total by running back Walter Payton. The Bears passed on 3rd down and Bino had his head elsewhere as Brannigan's Broncos defender Ed McCaffrey tackled quarterback Jim McMahon in the end zone for a safety! Big play for Denver! It was 9-0, Broncos in the lead. It was a wacky game filled with Bino mistakes. On the safety blunder by Bino's Bears, it was Broncos running back Terrell Davis again who ran back an 82-yards play, making Bino pay for his mistake and setting up Brannigan's Broncos with great field position. But the Chicago Bears defense stood their ground this time, holding the Broncos to just a field goal, 12-0 Broncos! On the Bears next drive Willie Gault ran back an fast 85-yard kick return, but the Bears couldn't capitalize on offense. Denver's ORANGE CRUSH shut them down and forced Chicago to pass. Bino connected with tight end Mike Ditka on a 37-yard first down reception, and then the Bears were stopped with nowhere to run or pass. On the Denver Broncos last drive they got the ball close enough to score another field goal from 46 yards away to demolish the Chicago Bears 15-0! Denver goes to (5-1), and they will play their last game at New England against the tough Patriots to end the regular season games! The Bears are (3-3) and they still have a great chance to clinch a playoff spot if they beat Seattle next week at Chicago but as far as this game goes, they wish they could play it again! VIGGS TIME MASTER REDSKINS REMAIN UNBEATEN WITH TIGHT WIN OVER PATRIOTS 10-7! Patriots (3-2) - Redskins (5-0) Coach Levi Vick's Patriots will take the field again today, this time against the best Redskins team we've seen in years. Coach Ed Viggs is coming off of a surprising and painful loss at home with his Green Bay Bay Packers, but what about this game? Viggs said, "Levi is a great coach and his Patriots are a solid team, so it's important that we score fast and take away his teams chances of doing damage. And don't ask me about the (5-0) record because I am taking each game as it comes and preparing as hard as I can with the Redskins." The Skins have really impressed the league giving up just 40 points on defense. And, on offense Tony Green has been a beast! Green has 36 touches for 937 all-purpose yards with six touchdowns, including three 100-yard touchdown returns. Washington Receivers Art Monk and Charlie Taylor make this a three-dimensional offense, and John Riggins is, and always will be the power back with the same player base that helped the Redskins defeat the Dolphins 34-31 in OT, in one of our greatest games, LIEFL Super Bowl VII played in Bay Shore Long Island between Ed Viggs and Billy O'C! Riggins was the MVP! With Riggins paving the way for Green, this team is the best in the LIEFL so far this season. Coach Levi Vick said, "I'll take my risks in this game and test his team. I think we are just as good as them and I can't go in this with a defeatist attitude or we don't have a chance. We've earned respect around the league and we're (3-2) for a reason." THE GAME: Redskins Coach Ed Viggs broke out his traditional "Hail to the Redskins" music before the game as coach Levi Vick looked on and enjoyed the moment. What a battle this game was between the Patriots and the Redskins and Washington is very lucky that they had the home field advantage because we think there was even match-ups in the trenches with Patriots lineman John Hannah clashing with Redskins lineman Dave Butz as they kept each other in check and at a stand-still the entire game. And this game really could have went either way with the defenses about even. The Patriots defense really impressed and they kept Washington from running the football and gaining ground but coach Viggs still used that running game of the Redskins and that tough front line to keep the game in check by killing the clock. Washington was able to score on a third down play when receiver Charlie Taylor broke open at the 20-yard line, catching a rocket in his pocket and flying by the Patriots defenders and in for the score. What a beautiful pass by coach Viggs, giving Washington the lead 7-0! But the Patriots came right back and marched down field on a 65-yard kick return by Patriots star tight end, Rob Gronkowski. Laurence Maroney was able to run the football behind a bolden John Hannah on runs of 8,12 yards in the first half, and then in the second half Maroney exploded on runs of 7, 3, and then a four yard power run behind Hannah into the end zone to tie the score at 7-7! With time running out in the game Tony Green ran back of 59-yard kick return and then he proceeded to run six times, but the Patriots stopped him five out of six until it was Charlie Taylor again who caught a 47-yard rocket on third down, for the first down, bringing the ball to the New England 4-yard line, but the Skins couldn't punch it in for the score. Washington was not able to move the ball on the Patriots defense and with seconds left in the game they kicked a 30-yard field after losing yards, to win a close one, 10-7! The Redskins remain undefeated at (6-0), and it has been an awesome season for them. Tony Green broke 1,000 yards for the season again! One number stands out most after the game and that is the Washington defense held New England to just 99 total yards in the game to Washington's 219 total yards. Coach Ed Viggs said after the game, "It wasn't pretty but we did the job. It won't be awesome unless we finish awesome, but this really is a good Redskins football team, savvy and competitive to the end. The Patriots are super too, and they will compete and be spoilers if they make the playoffs because that is a great defense they have." The biggest question for New England is how will Miami and Buffalo fair at the finish line, but more important, in order for the Patriots to make the playoffs, teams have to lose. Coach Levi Vick said, "We almost had them, but we will finish stronger than last season in the AFC tournament because we think we can hang with any team in the league, once we get to those one-hour playoff games. We are tough and ready for Denver next week. I built this Patriots team on that theme, Patriotism! We'll be set to take it to the Broncos if my line plays like they did today. Terrell Davis is a real good player, and if you fall asleep on Ed McCaffrey it's going to be a long day. My linebackers have to come up big against them. The key is, we have to score points and 'Gronk' has to give us more!" Before the Patriots-Redskins game the lower tier playoff teams who the Pats will have to battle and the "spotlight under the microscope" will be on the Texans, Raiders, Ravens and Steelers! The contenders for their division titles are the Dolphins, Bills, Broncos, Chargers, and Colts. 49ERS PLAYMAKERS BEAT CARDINALS 17-14! Cardinals (1-4) - 49ers (1-4) Does anybody know the phenomenon of how an electric football team goes from Super Bowl defender to the bottom of the barrel in just one season? Could it really be just from the draft? Is it the coaching? This is the dilemma for Coach Ed Viggs San Francisco 49ers. Today's game digs into that issue because the two teams playing today have records that don't support the talent. Coach Kevin Mack's original St Louis Cardinals back in 1977 when they were inaugurated in the LIEFL, were (6-8), and they took third place in our NFC Conference II at the time. Since the seven games season format started in 2008 the Phoenix Cardinals, now Arizona Cardinals, are (23-26), playing close to .500 football. The amazing part of their story is they've been to the playoffs four times in their history, three times since 2008, with their furthest battle taking it to the NFC Divisional Championship Game in 2018 when they lost to the Carolina Panthers 38-35 in overtime. The Cardinals overall career record is (70-102). The team has league favorites that other coaches love watching. Certain players on their team like Mel Gray and OJ Anderson and Conrad Dobler carry the team, and it just seems that an enigma holds them back. But, that's the magic of Electric football, trying to figure out why these plastic heroes do what they do. Regardless of either team's record San Francisco with Coach Ed Viggs has been up and down with these 49ers. Frisco took the league by storm last season making it all the way to the Super Bowl as a wild card team but this year the 49ers have no excuses. They started the season by winning their first game of the season against division rival Seattle 14-7, and it was the second game that caused them problems against the Cowboys in Dallas when the 49ers lost 10-7. Losing to Cincinnati in Week #3 was not expected, or Baltimore. Following those two games the 49ers then lost on their home field and were embarrassed by the Rams in overtime 16-10. That's where they stand at this moment at (1-4) before this game, after suffering that defeat last week which eliminated San Francisco from the postseason. Jerry Rice has been shaky at best and Ricky Watters continues to pound opponents but the 49ers line has played lackluster at best. They collapsed a bit under pressure and there's a lot of finger pointing going on on that team. This game today is all about resalvaging and playing for pride, playing hard with nothing to lose. That's why we love the Long Island Electric Football League because like all good leagues, there is a standard. The coaches are intense, sometimes too intense with their trash talk, but we treat it like a professional League. THE GAME: It's funny how when there's nothing to risk you can put it all on the Line, and that is exactly what we expected in this game between the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. Division rivalries, no matter what the record, are games to watch. Arizona and San Francisco just don't like each other. How can't a team in the same division be envious of the other when they are losing and the rival is winning? Coach Kevin Mack's Cardinals battle week in and week out bringing the game right to the razor sharp edge only to be sliced off and somehow lose the game. 49ers running back Ricky Watters had just three runs for the 49ers but he accumulated 126 yards with two huge touchdown runs of 67, and 59 yards for San Francisco. Jerry Rice is still a little swollen on the ankle but he did have 115 kick return yards on three touches. The problem is Rice's longest run was 41-yards, and that's just not good enough when you compare him to the sensation that he was last year. Viggs tried that Rice player base again, but it just didn't do what it did last year and maybe it's one of those times that this particular player base was made for that day or that series and no more. The 49ers offensive line did the job against a tough Arizona defense. Both of these teams have lost four games before this game but the Cardinals fought right back. The 49ers (2-4) host the playoff hopeful Steelers, currently (2-3), in what will be a win or die situation. The Cardinals (1-5) host the Browns who are (1-4). Cards running back Otis Anderson had 75 yards in the ground game on 9 carries and he had a 35-yard touchdown run in the second half that kept the Cardinals within reach. Return man Mel Gray who's having an offseason, caught a beautiful 54-yard touchdown pass to tie the score with a minute and a half left in the game. San Francisco after their last kick return by Jerry Rice for another 41-yards, kicked the 56 yard field goal to win the game! CHARGERS GO TO (5-1) AFTER JOLTING BILLS 17-14! Bills (4-1) - Chargers (4-1) The Bills and the Chargers have to be the biggest game of the week as far as expectations go. They will be testing each other like no other game in the league. The incredible rivalry might be unmatched in this league but it wasn't always the case. It started in a blood feud between coach Billy OC and Ed Viggs. O'C loves those Chargers but in a coin toss he lost them to Ed Viggs when it came time to select teams, and the rest is history. Because of his connection to Los Angeles and his love for Miami and LA, it hit a sore spot for Billy O'C. In 2019, everything was going smoothly until Billy OC's Buffalo Bills had to meet Ed Viggs LA Chargers in the AFC Championship Game. It was an astounding game with excitement pouring from the semes of the coaches. The game game between the two ticked down to the final seconds when the Bills beat the Chargers 49-48, in one of the games of the century for us. We just knew going into the game it would be a masterful matchup and a game of strategy that would come down to the final seconds of the game but that's where the argument started. Viggs was screaming that the game was over and that Buffalo was out of time, but Pete Porcelli, the Rules judge, overruled because he was at the game, watching the game and calling the game by the second. There was a lot of yelling but the feelings were resolved, but not forgotten, so expect some serious intensity in this one. When you have a battle of the Titans with OJ Simpson and LaDainian Tomlinson going at it the excitement around the league pours in. That's why this regular season matchup is so important to both of these teams. A win for Buffalo might give them the advantage next week when they play Miami in Buffalo for a division title. A win for the Chargers could give them the division title because they beat the Denver Broncos who are in second place. The question mark team is the Las Vegas Raiders who have risen to the occasion and are ready to challenge. The Proof is in the beating the Raiders gave Green Bay last week. So this game is anybody's game and it's going to come down to who executes and manages the clock best. THE GAME: Coach Joe Bino's Buffalo Bills came out locked and loaded against coach Ed Viggs who's playing back-to-back games today. Viggs has his Chargers ready to go and it's not the same emotion because Billy O'C is not playing this game so there is only the passion to win for Viggs, not the revenge against Billy O'C's Bills. Bino has done a terrific job with the Bills, and really deep down Buffalo is a team that just knows how to move the football on offense. Nobody needs to tell these two teams how to play. They're ready! Last year's defensive player of the year for the Chargers Earl Faison will face Buffalo's Marcel Dareus in a trench war. And that's not all. Both teams have to leverage the special teams matchups in order to come out the winner in this one. Buffalo's Jay Brown has been slowed up by opponents and the Chargers have one of the best defences in the LIEFL. This will be a game of time management and execution. On the opening kickoff coach Viggs surprised by giving the ball to Lance Alworth, who ran an electrifying 99 yard kick return to the 1 yard line of the Buffalo Bills to start the game! Viggs said, "That'll quiet people down for sure." With a full House of coaches tonight for the before Thanksgiving party, the room is going wild. It only took one play for running back LaDainian Tomlinson to run the ball in for the score as the Chargers drew First blood 7-0! That was a very pretty play by Alworth, and now the Bills have to answer. Buffalo marched right back on a Jay Brown 70-yard kick return followed by a 20 yard first down run by OJ Simpson with 9:01 remaining in the half. The energy and the power is unreal for these two teams. Both of these teams look sensational as we watch OJ Simpson run in for the 10-yard touchdown on second down, game tied 7-7! The Bills offensive line, "The Electric Company" is digging in hard here with 5:58 remaining in the half with Bino stuttering the clock. It looks like it's going to be one of those games where the Chargers can't stop the Bills and the Bills can't stop the Chargers in the battle in the trenches. They're both just too good. Coach Viggs has to be admired for throwing statistics out the window for wins. These are is a very unselfish battle-hardened teams. The Chargers stayed with Lance Alworth as he blazed back a 70-yards return on the ensuing kickoff giving Tomlinson all he needs to work with with 3:43 remaining in that first half. These are two teams on a mission. On second down, LaDainian Tomlinson exploded to the left side of the field through the four hole for a 30-yard touchdown scamper to give the Los Angeles Chargers the lead 14-7, as the first half ended. To start the second half, Jay Brown ran back a speedy 44-yard setup for OJ Simpson. Simpson ran for six, 15-yards before he was stopped twice losing 14 yards nearing midfield. On third down Coach Joe Bino threw a great pass to receiver Andre Reed, who broke open for a 47-yard touchdown scamper to tie the game at 14-14 with 6:27 remaining! What a game! With the score tied at 14-14, Coach Viggs put the ball back in Lance Alworth's hands to get the job done. Alworth delivered a 47-yard kick return and the Chargers killed the clock running the ball downfield until they kicked the game winning field-goal to win the game 17-14! Oh what a feeling it was for Coach Viggs, but it was temporary. Viggs said, "We still have a mountain to climb and we've been here before. We just have to finish strong and beating Buffalo is a great start." Coach Bino said, "There is not much to say other than I'm sure we will meet again." The Chargers are at the Lions in the season finale and the Bills host the Dolphins! STAY TUNED FOR TOMORROW'S WRITE UPS!
  21. (Long Island Electric Football League Week #6 Game Write-Ups Continue). Written by Levi Vick and Joey Pizz. November 19, 2023. As we continue the writeups of games played in the LIEFL Week #6 season, there is a lot of chatter around the league about what will come of the league when Commissioner Billy O'C retires. O'C owns all the 67-Big Man teams, and coaches sort of lease the teams mentally, but he owns everything, including a good ten game boards. He deserves credit for running an organized 32-team amazing historic professionally run league with no BS. It's a mighty undertaking to organize a league with 32-teams, as many of our readers can relate because of the work they put into their own leagues. Some of the talk from the coaches in the LIEFL is about how amazing the league is run when it comes to statistics. The stats are a benchmark for each of us as we strive to get better, and numbers can help a coach to set and achieve goals. J A G U A R S ROAR TO VICTORY WITH CONVINCING WIN OVER BUCCANEERS 14-7! Buccaneers (3-2) - Jaguars (1-4) Last season the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were on the rise with bending upsets over the LA Rams in Week #3, and then they beat the New York Jets in Week #6 in the Game of the Week, which unhinged those two teams. During that time, LA Rams Coach Billy O’C called it “the curse of the Buccaneers” and the mystique of the league. Nobody is safe in the league from being beaten.” That theme carried over until the Bucs were beaten last week by division rival, the Carolina Panthers 34-28 in OT, in a game that saw nine touchdowns with 905 total yards dished out between the two teams. The Bucs can play with any team in the league. We saw Tampa Bay improve in every way, inching closer to becoming a force in the NFC South competing with the Falcons and Panthers for the division. Coach Paddy Brannigan said, “You could see it coming that the Bucs were out for blood to ruin teams. This year, I think they are even better!” Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs Jacksonville Jaguars are cornered between who to get rid of and who to keep. LIEFL All-Pro running back Fred Taylor seems in the woods alone at times. Biggs has underperformed as a coach when facing complex offensive opponents, and he's been a disaster at managing the speedy setups and clock of the LIEFL, but credit him for never quitting. Instead, Bobby Biggs is a fast learner, so that next season he restructures his approach to electric football. There are some warriors in this game and the merciless approach of the coaches is because of the $3200 dollar payout in winning a Super Bowl. Biggs (3-12) in the LIEFL, and has yet, to comment about the competition. Billy O'C loves Biggs and his spirit. He thinks Biggs is a master coach. Coach Johnny-Freeport said, "Who cares what Biggs thinks, or what anyone thinks about our league. What matters is the fierce competition and the money for me. You think I care about someone's past rule book when there is no cashout in a Super Bowl? Bobby Biggs is coming from a league where the setups have countdowns, the defenders are turned to chase the receivers after the catch, and he is totally lost with this one-stop intense league when it comes to the competition. He is an incompetent coach in my book. I am hunting down a trophy and the money." Biggs didn't appreciate the remarks from Freeport, but he vows to take his teams out at every chance he gets. "Let him keep running his mouth. Payback will pain Chucker," said Biggs. KICKOFF: They say, payback is a B%#%$@%, but the Buccaneers came for the jugular and the roaring Jaguars were armed and ready with a frontline to pave the way for LIEFL All-Pro Freddie Taylor. Taylor launched 11 all-purpose touches for 178 yards with a touchdown in the game. This was a game that Tampa Bay (3-2) desperately needed, and Jags coach Bobby Biggs hasn't forgot some of the things Pizz said about his coaching. Biggs said, "It was a great honor to shut down Tampa Bay with my (2-4) team, and every chance I get to play and beat this coach will be an honor." Pizz said, "We didn't play well. Usually Jimmie Giles has game, and they really stuffed Ricky Bell to a level I didn't expect, but credit their defense who played great. The Bucs were handled well by the Jacksonville Jaguars front line led by Lineman Tony Boselli who's now has six tackles along with a combatant year against opponents. Boselli is gaining some respect around the league. He opened holes on the line, putting on a HomeTown whipping on Tampa Bay 14-7, holding Bell to just three yards rushing! From the outset Freddie Taylor had winning on his mind with big runs of 13, 8, 26, 10, and a 1-yard touchdown run on the first drive. Jimmie Giles didn't see the light of day against a tough Jaguars defense who have been up and coming. While the Jags have made mistakes, they've also made some big plays in 2023. Tampa Bay's Dave Moore had a 59-yard first down reception on a rocket thrown by Coach Pizz. This play was followed by a 4-yard Mike Alstott touchdown to tie the score in the second half at 7-7, but it was Freddie Taylor's 56-yard kick return followed by a 24-yard run and a Jimmy Smith 32-yard pass reception for a touchdown that gave the Jaguars the win over a playoff contending Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team, 14-7! The Buccaneers will have a rough go at making the playoffs, and even though they play the Cowboys at home in the season finale, both NFC SOUTH division rivals Atlanta and Carolina have home games. The Bucs are still alive in the hunt for an outside shot at a playoff slot, but we'll see what Dallas has in mind. The unpredictable Cowboys play on Thanksgiving Day, hosting the Giants in a huge game. Will the Bucs and Cowboys, or Giants fall and fold, or do they take a Giant step into the playoffs? The Jaguars have had a decent season, but they gave up the costly big plays when they need their defense the most. Everyone in the league respects Jacksonville's tackles Rob Meier and Charles Spencer, but the Jaguars need to strengthen at Linebacker in this February's LIEFL Draft so that Freddie Taylor gains free access to the inside running game that Boselli and company have built. The countdown to the final game next week has heightened intensity as they coaches compete for the right to compete in LIEFL Super Bowl XVIII on December 30th! B JONES RUNS WILD FOR 215 ALL-PURPOSE YARDS ON SAINTS IN TITANS 17-14 WIN! Saints (1-4) - Titans (1-4) ... We have to reflect a bit more and realize that it has been an intense battle between coaches in the LIEFL from the start. Lots of contentious coaching and criticism can be revealing when it comes to rivalries. The biggest question is what how else can coaches improve? Some of the coaches in this league play in other leagues after the LIEFL season as well, just not with LIEFL teams. The season did not turn out the way some coaches predicted, especially if we look closer at this game between the Saints and Titans. The Saints won all the draft picks a team could use, and the Titans are rebounding off of a playoff year that they would build on. Both teams failed miserably in meeting their projected goals, but don't fault the coaches so much as the improvement in the league through the LIEFL Draft. But still, the end result was disappointing. Titans Coach Kevin Mack said, "I really thought that after the season we had last year making the AFC Wild Card spot, and Derrick Henry winning Rookie of the Year, we would end up competing for the division, but I made some bad plays that cost us, and now I just have to salvage some wins for pride and respect in the league." As for the matchup on paper, you couldn't find a better matchup for pride in Rookie Coach Bobby Biggs Saints (1-4) against Kevin Mack's Titans (1-4). That is the love for the league in that these coaches are competitive no matter the situation. This is a game with nothing to lose, but the loss, and except for the embarrassment of a (1-5) record, so the game has significance. Bobby Biggs rests at the bottom of the LIEFL at (3-12), but that won't stop him. He told us that in his first year his record is not important. Next year he will play differently because his girlfriend takes lots of notes and she records his games every week for Biggs Seahawks, but Seattle couldn't get it done this season. They host the Rams this week. THE GAME: This game was electrifying and a better game than expected. Tennessee came out with the swinging with fireworks lighting up the field by kick returner Brandon Jones who had a wild day, complimented by 215 all-purpose yards on five touches, including a 55-yard touchdown pass for the speedy receiver. After Tennessee scored on the 1st set of downs, Saints powerstar and playmaker Reggie Bush ran back 100-yard kick return for a sizzling touchdown run to tie the score at 7-7 in the first half, but Tennessee wasn't having it. Although Titans second year running back Derrick Henry had 20-yards rushing with a touchdown, it was Brandon Jones all day who ran back kick returns of 55, 53, and 52 yards including two 50-yard pass receptions which gave the Tennessee Titans the 17-14 victory over rookie Bobby Biggs struggling Saints. Both lines in the trenches performed well, including three outside tackles by Jeremy Shockey who played a great game. Shockey also had an 18-yard touchdown catch. We keep waiting for New Orleans to show signs of life but their situation will need much more patience. Don't forget, if you are following the LIEFL, Miami had a three season span of 3 wins and 18 losses before regaining their powerhouse reputation after nearly trading their entire team away and starting over. MUCH MORE WILL FOLLOW TO COMPLETE WEEK #6.
  22. (Long Island Electric Football) Written By Levi Vick and Joey Pizz. By doing these write-ups we hope we have done our part in making contributions to our hobby! In Week #6, the LIEFL will give our readers the games as we finish the writeups. Week #6 in the LIEFL is usually one of the most dangerous weeks because the playoff hunt heats up with some division rivalries pitted against each other which means there will be a chance for spoilers! Every game in this league has meaning and every game in this league is a battle the way a league should be. We think of every team like an all-star team with the best 22 selected men on the field at any given time. Spoiling can unhinge many teams in the playoff race, including their coaches. We'll bring readers select Game Write-ups from here on out. Some games will have full writeups and the rest will have short summaries to make way for the Thanksgiving Day Specials. The intensity is on the rise with the final regular season LIEFL game approaching. This week we will announce the current playoff contenders and separate them from the great pretenders as men turn to boys in the Long Island Electric Football League. PREVIEWS OF GAMES WE WILL COVER: Notable games this week include the Falcons (4-1) against the Panthers (3-2), who will battle for the NFC South Division title. Both of these teams have a chance to change their history and destiny in the LIEFL. The winner will get the edge and higher Playoff Seed on the Super Bowl XVIII Bracket! The Chiefs (2-3) at the Jets (1-4) will be a hostile and gritty game. The Jets can spoil the defending Super Bowl Champions chances to qualify for the playoffs. If Joey Pizz Jets beat KC, the Chiefs season ends! The Chiefs were magical last season when they went all the way, winning eight games and LIEFL Super Bowl XVII for Coach Matt Zoo-York. Can New York match KC stars Tyreek Hill and Priest Holmes, the Number #1 rusher in the AFC? Holmes has 31 rushes for 524-yards, with eight touchdowns. What about Le'Veon Bell and Don Maynard for New York? Bell is still holding tough as the #3 Rusher in the AFC with 27 touches for 411-yards, with six touchdowns! Can the Chiefs contain these two? This might be a better match than we thought. For the Chiefs to stay alive they have to run away with the game and dominate the Jets they way they dominated the AFC in last year's LIEFL Super Bowl Tournament. The Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) with Dave Casper, will hang with the Packers (4-1) on the road, but count on Green Bay Coach Ed Viggs to have a plan. Another possible spoiler game is the Jaguars (1-4) meeting and beating the Buccaneers (3-2), but after the Bucs Week #5 performance against Carolina last week, does Tampa Bay have enough in the tank to upset the Jags at home? We think the answer lies with Bucs running back Ricky Bell, who rushed for 160-yards last week against the Panthers. The Texans (2-3) and Bengals (2-3) will treat their game like a playoff game. Both have a long shot at making the playoffs. For the Bears (3-2) and Broncos (4-1), a win can solidify a possible playoff spot for either team, but Denver will be the favorite on their home turf. This might be the surprise battle of the week as the Broncos unleash Terrell Davis and the Bears detonate Walter Payton and Willie Gault who are both having a great year! Another ginormous game is the Buffalo Bills (4-1) at the Los Angeles Chargers (4-1). Buffalo's offense and LA's defense will be a colossal matchup! OJ Simpson and LaDainian Tomlinson? There will be a full house to watch Joe Bino's Bills and Ed Viggs Chargers in this intense and highly anticipated rematch! Dare we mention that there is still one undefeated team left in the LIEFL? There is no mystery that the best team in the league after five weeks is arguably Coach Ed Viggs Washington Redskins (5-0), but the question is, will they bring the magic or fold? This week they play a team who can play on the road in the New England Patriots (3-2). The Patriots are consistent and that is the key, keeping the game close and dragging it into overtime, which may be the only way that New England can pull off an upset. Will there be an upset in the making? It is a defining moment for Coach Levi Vick and his resilient Patriots. In other news, the Patriots desperately want to trade for Carolina's Greg Jones, but Panthers Coach Matt Zoo-York wants the Patriots next five first round draft picks for Jones. Jones has made himself a valuable start for the Panthers. He's been a beast, putting up big numbers for the past three or four seasons for Carolina, totaling 28 touchdowns with 3,442 all-purpose yards. It might be a great move for Vick because the league ends in 2025. They will discuss this at the end of the season and Vick has some urgency in him to make the trade. Jones could be a starting running back for any team in the league. In a separate writeup, on Thanksgiving Day we have an exciting matchup and contentious game between the New York Giants (3-2) at Dallas Cowboys (3-2) in what is expected to be a game with lots of fireworks. The Giants jolted the Packers last week in their Week #5 and the Cowboys lost to the Cardinale 21-14. This NFC East rival game with playoff implications is expected to be an epic battle between two offensive powerhouses! The Vikings (1-4) and Lions (2-3) is another game with playoff ramifications because the Lions need this game in order to remain in the playoff picture, but it won't be easy for Detroit. Coach Johnny-Freeport's Lions with superstar LIEFL All-Pro Dexter Bussey, has to come with offense blazing in order to beat Minnesota. The Vikings defense, led by LIEFL All-Pro Carl Eller, is one of the best in the league and they would love to be the spoilers for Coach Joey Pizz! In the last big LIEFL match-up the Colts (4-1) will be at the Ravens (3-2), who are determined to take back the NFC North! Will alternate coach Joey Bino for the Colts be able to withstand the league loudmouth Johnny Freeport's Ravens? Fastforwarding to the Week #6 game featuring the Atlanta Falcons (4-1) and Carolina Panthers (3-2) has huge ramifications, and as we indicated, it could give either the Falcons or the Panthers the win they need for the NFC South Division title, which may be determined next week depending on today's game, and their games next week. It does appear at the moment as though both of these teams will qualify as one of the top seven playoff slot teams for the NFC, but Tampa Bay is right there as well. Panthers Coach Matt Zoo-York said, “There's a lot of heartbreaks at this point in the season because the 14 finishers who will qualify for the playoffs are the best of the best in our league. My Panthers have been to two NFC championship games, and I blew both of them. Last year for some reason we were cursed by the Vikings, but this year I have a chance, and it might be the only chance I have to take this team to a different level. I have to believe in my running attack and my special teams attack but in this league, you get figured out quickly. General Riggs is an incredible player, and I just have to play better than Johnny-Freeport today at home and not allow him to get in my game. I can't let him beat me at home.” Falcons Coach Johnny Freeport said, “Yeah, I'm not going to get into a discussion about this game before the game with you fools. Stop acting like you're writing for the school paper. This is my chance to prove myself and if I can't do it with the Falcons or the Lions or the Bengals or the Ravens, then I just have to go out and compete, but this guy has the home field advantage. We can win on the road, and we just have to do our best to get him into overtime to win this game because the Panthers front line is one of the best I've seen.” There's so much rich history between these two teams but there are a lot of new faces too, and since Freeport revived his Falcons several seasons back, they have that vintage feel to them of players who never die! Somehow the Carolina Panthers have been one of the best teams in the LIEFL, but they need to finish strong this season, as in, winning an NFC title. Three times to the NFC Championship Game and no Super Bowl? It’s time! It's amazing some of the best players in the game and they can't get to a Super Bowl. Both teams are up against some lethal competition in the NFC with Washington and Green Bay, both Viggs teams as the leaders this season. The Redskins have truly impressed with their front line and speed. It will be tough but it's not impossible to beat them and all roads to the finish line appear to have Viggs in the way. LIEFL WEEK #6 KICKOFF: NFC SOUTH DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF CONTENTION MATCHUP Falcons (4-1) - Panthers (3-2) After rushing for 216 yards last week against Tampa Bay, DeShaun Foster entered into the LIEFL record book for the third best rushing performance on record. The guy who holds the seven-game high for rushing in a game, is the very opponent Foster is playing against, Gerald Riggs of the Falcons. Riggs had 239-yards rushing on September 18th, in Week #2 against the Eagles, setting the LIEFL most rushing yards in a game for the seven-game season format. Kickoff: There was a lot of energy in the air before these two teams took the field. On the opening kickoff Panthers returner Greg Jones picked up where he left off last game against Tampa Bay, running 69-yards to open the game. It was a tremendous battle in the trenches between LIEFL All Pro Kawaan Short and Falcons middleman LIEFL All-Pro Bob Fralich on other side of the field for the Falcons. These two went at it heavy. After a 1-yard run, DeShaun Foster busted loose for a 30-yard touchdown run on the right side of the field to give Carolina the lead 7-0! Impressive! Foster had four touchdowns last week against the Buccaneers. No worries for the Falcons because on the ensuing kickoff Superstar Gerald Riggs ran back a blazing 100-yard touchdown run right through the right side of the field, untouched into the end zone, and just like that, it was a 7-7 football game! On Carolina’s next return, Greg Jones was blasted at the 39-yard line by Atlanta tackle, Terrance Pennington. Carolina ran two plays, and both were stopped, but on 3rd down Panthers receiver Keary Colbert ran 54-yards to the eight-yard line on a beautifully designed cross pattern pass by Coach Zoo. On the very next play it was DeShaun Foster again who blasted 8-yards into the end zone behind that ferocious Carolina frontline, giving the Panthers the go-ahead lead, 14-7! Falcons running back Gerald Riggs ran the next kickoff 47 yards to end the first half. To start the second half Gerald Riggs ran two times and then Johnny-Freeport on 3rd down threw a beautiful strike to Julio Jones, his favorite receiver for a 38-yard pickup. After two more runs the Falcons tried again to put it up in the air but they were rejected, forcing a fourth down and a major decision for Freeport. Johnny-Freeport decided to kick the field goal to make the score 14-10, Carolina Panthers in the lead. Before the next kickoff you see Johnny-Freeport was re-thinking whether or not he should have gone for the first down with 12 yards to go or kick the field goal but that is the element of time which leaves coaches making those timely decisions in tough spots in the league. This one would cost the Falcons. But instead, on the kickoff, Greg Jones had other things in mind when he returned a stunning and electrifying 100-yard touchdown to give the Panthers the lead, 21-10, with just 3:12 remaining in the game on a sizzling run with guns blazing! That was the kind of run that turns heads! How would Atlanta answer? Wow! what a statement from the Panthers! There was no quitting in these Dirty Birds! Gerald Riggs turned an 82-yard kick return as the clock ran down and on first down Johnny-Freeport fired a rocket to his man Julio Jones who scored a 17-yard touchdown to make the score 21-17! That would be the final score as Carolina ran out of time to do more damage, walking away with a 21-17 win! But man is this a ready team for Matt Zoo-York, they look good! The Falcons-Panthers will most likely meet again in the playoffs with Carolina (4-2) earning the edge over Atlanta (4-2) as they come closer to clinching the division. It all depends on next week’s outcome. The Falcons host the Jaguars in their final game of the season, and the Panthers host a dangerous and streaky Ron Dayne and Coach Levi Vick's Houston Texans (2-3) team who could play spoilers to Carolina, or will they? LE'VEON BELL CRUSHES CHIEFS PLAYOFFS HOPES IN JETS 21-14 VICTORY! Chiefs (2-3) - Jets (1-4) AFC PLAYOFF CONTENTION MATCHUP. In Week#6 action, WOW, this game was all it was billed to be, and then some! It was Coach Joey Pizz New York Jets who pulled off the huge upset win against defending LIEFL Super Bowl XVII Champion Kansas City Chiefs, crushing the Chiefs 2023 playoff hopes, in a tale rendered by Jets running back Le'Veon Bell! Bell is for real, and here to stay! He has become a force and face in the Jets lineup! We haven't seen a great back with the Jets since Bruce Harper when he was healthy. Today, Bell unleashed nine times for 82-yards on the ground, with a 38-yard touchdown run, and he had a 28-yard touchdown pass to give the hometown Jets the 21-14 upset! The clish-clash battle between the line in the trenches had Coach Matt Zoo-York thinking hard, but Joey Pizz formations with running backs behind the linebackers paid off big! The key play was Le'Veon Bell's Houdini-like escape from a tight Kansas City defense, like a magician, when Bell broke free for a huge 28-yard touchdown to five the Jets the lead and win! No one could have stopped what Bell did on his own. It was a telling site on the final play of the game when Tyreek Hill ran back the kick return with 30 seconds remaining in the game only to be clobbered by Jets Linebacker Jamaal Abrams at the 34-yard line. For the Chiefs running back Priest Holmes had two big touchdown runs of 30 and 42-yards, and nobody can blame Tyreek Hill. Hill performed well with three kick returns worth 162-yards with great setups, but the Jets and Coach Joey Pizz managed to control the clock, and that was the difference in the home field advantage win for New York. The Chiefs played hard but it seemed that for every play Kansas City made, New York counteracted. That 7-6 loss to the Chargers a few weeks ago, really crushed the Chiefs confidence to win on the road. Jets tight end Don Maynard ran the ball back three times totaling 169-yards, but again, the story of the day was Le'Veon Bell who had 10 touches for 110 yards, with two touchdowns for the (2-4) New York Jets. The feeling of the loss started to set in for Matt Zoo York that his team who went all the way last year as a Wild Card Team, had their dreams crushed to make another Super Bowl. Zoo and his Chiefs will be playing for pride next week hosting Coach Ed Viggs Green Bay Packers (4-2), and the Jets will be at the Eagles (1-4), in the season finale to battle for their third win of the season! RAIDERS STUN PACKERS IN HUGE UPSET ON ROAD 10-7! Raiders (2-3) - Packers (4-1) In what might be the upset of the year, the visiting Las Vegas Raiders pulled off an incredible win in the Green Bay Packers house! Las Vegas turned this game into a nightmare for Green Bay in a playoff like atmosphere. One thing is certain, don't count on going to Vegas if you want to gamble your chances away against the Raiders for a playoff run because "Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Las Vegas raided Green Bay like a bunch of mad dogs in this game. What the heck did Coach Mack do to prepare for this game? After the game the players were weighed and everything checked out for the Raiders. They punched the Packers square in the jaw with a gritty knockout performance. Raiders Coach Coach Kevin Mack said, "Today, the Las Vegas Raiders left the Green Bay Packers and Coach Ed Viggs speechless, stunned, and in disbelief!" Our LIEFL Analyst Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, and Historian Andrew M. Slawson said, "For the Packers, losing this game was a huge tilt in the competitive nature of the Long Island Electric Football League because this one on paper was a sure victory for Viggs. But, Packers return man Sterling Sharpe got off to a slow start with a 35 yard opening kickoff, and that was a play Coach Kevin Mack took full advantage of in a big way catching the Packers sleeping at the wheel behind their own 50 yard line, and the Packers never recovered. It set the tone for the game and it gave Raiders Coach Kevin Mack all the motivation he needed to believe in his team." It might have been the most important performance of the season for the 2008 LIEFL Super Bowl XI Champion Raiders. That Bowl seemed like we played it yesterday as time ticking away is a scary concept. That one play with the usually reliable Sterling Sharpe, was the difference in the game. Coach Mack set that Raiders defense up strategically by matching his best against Viggs, and his strategy worked because he had fantastic setups targeting Sterling Sharpe! Sharpe is one of the best all-purpose players in the NFC with 1,000 yards with two touchdowns, but today he was reserved to just 102 all-purpose yards. Green Bay running back Terdell Middleton was contained to 78-yards on the ground with the only Packers touchdown of the game, a 17-yard run. The battle began on the first set of downs for Green Bay when the Las Vegas Raiders Frontline dug deep into the trenches. Green Bay couldn't get anything going on the run or the pass. The usually reliable Coach Viggs had nobody open as coach Kevin Mack had everyone covered! Green Bay was too far away to kick a field goal on the opening drive. When Las Vegas got the ball running back Bo Jackson had no lanes to take because the Packers defense wasn't having it. That is what opened eyes, the sudden surge of the Raiders defense led by Howie Long in this game. Long made a few fantastic plays. He came out of nowhere to stop Green Bay's running game and running back Terdell Middleton on a key third down play, but the story of the day was Mark Van Eagan breaking Free at the 51-yard line on a third down pass play. Van Egan took it into the end zone to give the Raiders the go-ahead score 10-7, leaving the Pack with no time left to score! Coach Viggs left this field asking questions. Viggs said, "I am a bit baffled when I shouldn't be. We played like crap. I still cannot believe that we lost at home, but you can't win them all, and as I look back, the Raiders have been on a journey. Instead of looking back, I have to move forward and prepare for the Chiefs next week." The Raiders have been in almost every game, but they have gotten better as the season goes on. Viggs continued, "I just didn't think they could hang with my defense. We held their best player Dave Casper to 64-yards. It shows how important it is to score first when you have home field advantage. I will be ready for the Chiefs next week, and my team on the road is more focused for some crazy reason. Regardless, it is never good to lose games on your team's home field." The most unreal part of the game is how little impact one of the best players in the league had. Dave Casper came ready to play but it was Mark Van Eeghen (Photo Right) who stole the Vegas show with his 51-yard game winning touchdown reception. Imagine if Casper had a big day? The Raiders (3-3) host the Lions (2-3) for a shot at the playoffs! The Packers (4-2) are on the road in their season finale against an angry Chiefs team at (2-4), who were banged out of the playoffs by the Jets. This game is the talk of the league at the moment because if there was ever a perfect upset, this was it. The Packers are that team who has made the most improvements in the past four seasons but so have the Raiders. This collision course might have been one of fate, but it ended in an eye-opening rebirth of the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have lost a little of their like and identity with the change over from loyalists who love them in Oakland. The Silver & Black of Oakland had a toughness about them because it's where the Raiders fanbase is, but maybe this is the win they needed to give the Raiders their new identity playing in Vegas.
