Colts at Chargers (Divisional)

In the last game of the Divisional round, the #5 seed Colts travel to LA to play the #3 seed Chargers.  Despite the seedings, the Colts had the second best record in the AFC, only behind intra-division rival Jacksonville.  Vegas has the Colts as a 1.5 favorite.
 

The Colts are fresh off of a dominating beatdown of the Steelers by the 3rd best defense (and maybe the fastest) in the league.   The Chargers come in riding a huge game by MVP candidate Austin Ekelar.  He ran for 242yds and 3TDs in a 31-24 wildcard win over the Dolphins

He’s having a difficult time half way through the 1st quarter.  The Colts are #2 defense in the league.  Dominate D-line, great CBs and fast safeties.

I think Herbert will have to make some downfield passes, and the Chargers D will have to show up.

Maybe Ekelar can get it going.

Unbelievable call by the Chargers. 15 seconds in the half. Facing 3rd down and 14 with only 2 first downs in the first half, Ekelar gets the ball on a draw play.

Through 3 quarters, it’s still 7-7.  A Colts 9 play drive ends with a missed FG from 45 yds

With less than a minute to go, the Colts are driving.  Punt was downed at the 13.  QB #5 Anthony Richardson bursts up the middle for 48 yd

The very next play, #23 and #99 create a hole, and Richardson takes it 36 yards to the 3.

On 3rd & Goal from the 3, Richardson is back to pass.  Pittman is open, but the play is design to go to Downs.  Downs gets into the endzone.

What was fun about this game is, though it was defensive, it was not at all ugly!  The CBs were playing superb, and the safeties were flying around the ball if a pass was completed.  
 

The bases for both teams were straight and smooth.  They were just 2 amazing defenses.
