COACH: MATT "ZOO-YORK" MCQUEEN (8-13)

Browns-NFL-Team-Category-Banner.thumb.gif.1b1cdab4015f1f4e758fda3a65a4e5b6.gif

The Long Island EFL Browns continue to be fierce on defense!  The offense has struggled in rushing, receiving, and big plays, yet running back Jim Brown has performed in one area in particular, Special Teams! Brown has 31 carries for 765 all-purpose yards, with three touchdowns, and 640 of those yards have come on kick returns for Brown.

Coach McQueen thought he had a Super Bowl contender in 2017, when his Browns dominated the AFC up until their first game of the playoffs where Buffalo embarrassed them 42-14! That day McQueen couldn't settle the loss. He exploded!  Nobody has talked about it since, and it's been a sore subject around the league, especially since the league prides itself of sportsmanship.  It has cost McQueen from competing outside of the league as well. A coach has to have written permission in this to play outside of the league. McQueen has been denied twice.  He needs to rebuild his reputation, but at (8-13), he does not take losing well. Today, McQueen plays against one of the best running teams in the league in Coach Pizz' Giants.  Pizz will have no mercy on these Browns today.

COACH: JOEY PIZZ (11-13)

Giants-Team-Category-Banners.thumb.gif.f13016476cad9b7aa14ea60fb13cd7dd.gif

There's one thing about the New York Giants in this league is, they fight hard, they play hard, and they finish, but they're one of those teams in this league who has been consistent for more than 49 years. They had a few losing seasons like every other team in the league, but this team is by far the best New York Giants football team they've put on the field and behind all of that is Coach Joe Pizz.

This is a guy who nearly pulled off a stunning victory over the Oakland Raiders in the LIEFL Super Bowl XI, in 2008 in our first Super Bowl of the new seven game format. The one thing the Giants do better than almost anybody in the league is run the football! Giants former running back Tiki Barber passed on the torch and Shaquon Barkley, and Barkley picked up right where Barber left off without a step missed. Barkley hasn't looked back! He had a great season last year, and this season he's on fire. Barkley ranks #7 in NFC rushing with 27 carries for 317 yards and five touchdowns, including a 60 yarder! The Giants have another chance of making the playoffs after going (2-5) last season and between Barkley and Beckham, Jr., along with the rest of the troops, the Giants pose a huge threat to the NFC East, which makes this game critical!

When rookie Odell Beckham Jr came into the league the game that stood out most was his two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings that the Giants won in 2018. Last year he started to improve even more and the Giants started giving the ball less to Aman Bradshaw, who can be a starter on any team in the league. Then last week OBJ had a career day, exploding for 376 yards with three touchdowns, all 100 yard kick returns! OBJ has totaled 771 yards with four 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns. The Giants are definitely without question, a four-punch team that threatens the NFC East and the league in their hunt for the division title. They are not new to adversity, especially coming from the NFC East which is one of the toughest divisions in the Long Island Electric Football League. There isn't a weak spot in the division and it seems every year it's a different team who wins the East because it usually comes down to the scheduling. New York will not be an easy team to unseat.

Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee and LIEFL-Game Day Analyst Andrew Slawson of Slawson's Corner said, "This Giants team is Solid! I am rooting for them. They are 25-15 in the seven game season format, and that's a lot of winning. They have made the playoffs nine times in this league. Coach Pizz is almost there, he needs to be sure his line can raise the bar and compete and it seems that no matter what team he plays, Big Blue has a great running game.  What I love about the way he coaches them is, they NEVER quit! These coaches know that when they play these Giants, they're getting a game so they need to prepare a little extra for this team as the Freeport-Chucker's Bengals learned last week in their OT loss 27-21, when New York upset them on their home turf. The Giants can beat you with one play, and last week's win over Cincinnati was special. It made me a believer, but the NFC competition is brutal, and all the Giants need is a little luck. They have a chance to go (5-2) and win the division with two home games remaining, so the scale is tipped their way. We can't ignore the season David Diehl is having on defense. He has nine quality tackles at tackle, and the holes he has opened up playing on both sides of the ball has opened eyes this season. He went up against two of the best tackles in Bengals three time All-Pro, Brian Blados and rookie Trey Hopkins, and Diehl had four tackles in the game. Giants will beat the Browns! New York needs to tie Washington to stay in the hunt. A win today does that for them."

GIANTS DOMINATE BROWNS WITH STELLAR PERFORMANCE!

NOVEMBER 3, 2020. Meadowlands, New Brunswick, NJ. The Meadowlands is like an oasis of metallic swamp with Oil fields and Industrialized land. It's hardly a place you'd want to go to watch a football game. No wonder Lawrence Taylor turned into a mad dog in that non existent town when he played. It's a perfect place to make the opposition feel uncomfortable and out of place, as long as they close their eyes on the bus ride into the Meadowlands. This place might make opponents may feel like there is no where to run or hide in the swamp of the East, but the Browns know defense, and they came to represent an organization that is angry that they haven't performed to the talent level they have. Jim Brown is a Long Island guy, and he's no stranger to being physical. Football isn't even Brown's best sport. He is the Lacrosse king! At Syracuse, Brown lettered in four sports, achieving many awards including Athlete of the year in 1956-57, Team All-American selection in 1956, and he earned First Team Honors in 1957. True story! Nobody did it better.

311290598_INSIDETHEGAME.thumb.jpg.ec3ebf087d0b60fc5772726a4f8cc75f.jpgINSIDE THE GAME: Kickoff: Following up from that 370 yard three touchdown performance he had last week, would be hard to match for Odell Beckham Jr., who had a 28-yard kick return to open the game against the Browns. That defense of Cleveland certainly showed up to play! On first down, Giants running back, Shaquon Barkley ran for 7 yards, and then he was forced back on 2nd down, but on third down, Eli Manning threw a beautiful 23-yard pass to Barkley who took the ball down to the 42-yard line. One play later, on first down, Barkley barreled around the left side scoring on a 42-yard touchdown run as the Giants took a 7-0 lead, with 8 minutes left to go in the half! What a run!

223993049_gia2.thumb.jpg.9ce8e45b5b717c2c6e0dc0387802e463.jpg
Cleveland's Jimmy Brown returned the ball 34 yards on the Browns first kickoff. Cleveland handed the running duties off to running back, Mike Pruitt. Pruitt took over with a 7-yard run and a 15-yard first down, bringing the ball to the New York Giants 43-yard line with 4:16 left to go in the half. The Browns dominated the front line of the Giants tough defense and tackle Ricky Bolden silenced Giants star David Diehl. Pruitt kept advancing the ball, picking up 8 more yards, bringing the ball to the 35-yard line on first down. The Cleveland Browns offensive line looks fantastic. It's the best they've looked the entire season, but how long would they last against a ferocious Giants defense?  Maybe they had something going here with Pruitt running the football. He's doing a much better job than Brown when it comes to the running yardage, and staying behind his blockers. On second down, Pruitt lost five yards forcing a third down play from the 40-yard line as the New York defense came up big! The Browns need to become a four-punch threat as we watched the time is expire in the first half. Pruitt was one yard shy of the first down on a third down pass from Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, as the first half came to a close.

On fourth down, the Browns with nothing to lose in their season decide to go for it, and they paid the price as Giants end Mark Bavaro stunned Mike Pruitt, stopping Pruitt Wow on fourth down Pruitt seven-yards shy of the first down! Cleveland turned the ball over to a feisty New York Giants offense. These are the kinds of mistakes that have devastated the Browns all season long, but coach McQueen decided to take the risks, trying something different. Maybe this is not the league to do that, or maybe it is.

The Giants and Barkley took over. He was stopped on first down, and then on second down Barkley ran for seven yards, then six, to the Cleveland Browns 48 yard line with 10:19 left to go in the game. Coach Pizz, came in here with a game plan and he certainly is on the attack as the Browns stop the Giants again with that fierce defense, making it third down right back at the 48-yard line. The Cleveland Browns defense was running right through the Giants!
And on third down, Odell Beckham Jr., broke free for a 33-yard first down to the 15-yard line of the Browns with 4:05 left to go in the game on a great play! On the next set of downs, Barkley rans around the corner on the left side to take it into the end zone for a New York Giants score! Giants lead 14-0, with 2:41 left to go in the game! What a game for the Giants, and a brilliant job coaching by Coach Pizz!  Fighting all the way!

This is one of those games that Cleveland showed up on the line and the offense did not get the job done as the New York Giants win the game 14-0, shutting out the Cleveland Browns who on the last play of the game were outmuscled. The score was different than what happened on the field. The Giants just took advantage of opportunities and mistakes by Cleveland and that's just great coaching by Coach Pizz, as the Giants and the Browns have to think about next year by going back to the drawing board and figuring out how to win. OBJ was stopped today by a very difficult defense, but the Giants again show a very consistent pattern in their running game as Barkley rushed for 87 yards, with a 42 yard touchdown run! As usual, the yardage gain was low in this  game as two tough defenses battled for the advantage.
