Obvioysly, I  screwed up saying the Cleveland Rams. I corrected it. NFL Cleveland Rams moved to LA after the 45 season. In 1950 the AAFC Cleveland Browns, San Fransico 49ers, and Baltimore Colts were merged into the NFL. Don't really know how much Paul Brown being coach of the Browns had to do with it. The dominance of the Browns in the AAFC had a lot to do with its failure which contined in the NFL as the Browns were in every NFL Championship for the next 6 years.

I’ve read that Paul Brown coming from Ohio St to Cleveland hyped the Browns up with the Buckeye fanbase, and that the Reeves guy that owned the Rams at the time was concerned that the Browns would outdraw the Rams in attendance because of the hype.

I just read that though.  I don’t know for certain.

  2. I’m confused.   Are they they the Cleveland Rams and the Cleveland Browns?  Or, thr Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns?

I didn’t realize til today that the Rams moved from Cleveland because they couldn’t get attendance, even in their last year in Cleveland (1945) when they won the NFL title.  They were also scared of Paul Brown coming from Ohio St to coach the Cleveland Browns in the upstart AAFC.

They moved to LA the year after they won the NFL.

  3. I’m over 2 years of searching, I’ve never seen Haiti white jersey black shoe Dolphins.  I can’t imagine them being very rare.  The Dolphins were very popular during the Haiti years.

Someone must have been desperate to complete their collection.

  4. Some of them will love just out which team they want to play with.  My first memory of electric football was being at an older friends house.  I wanted to be the Jets, but he said they sucked and gave me the Chiefs 😂.  I was probably about 6 or 7, do that would have been 1975 or 1976

  5. This is my original board from 1977.  NEFGM says it’s a hybrid.  Came with White Redskins and Dark Cowboys.  My parents ordered it from Service Merchandise.

  6. Honestly, I’m very much partial to the Haiti and 80s Hong Kong.  Probably because that’s what I grew up with.   I don’t even like the Haiti repro that much.  They are not very bulky, but enough do that I can tell the difference.  I don’t like the machine paint jobs either.  Not because the aren’t good.  I guess because they are so neat and clean that it takes away the art of it.

    These are just my opinions.

I’m also a golfer, and I don’t really like the way that game is trending either.  But, at the end of the day, it’s whatever attracts the young people.  Got to keep the games of electric football and golf going.

It only takes one player and one mistake in the big games to win a championship.

The Colts one big mistake was Samson Ebukam losing the coverage on Patterson, who then went for 69 yards and a TD.  If that hadn’t happened, Ebukam would have most likely been the MVP with no stat line at all.

I still consider this to be the biggest play of the game… and, also the signature play of SuperBowl XII.  With 8 seconds to go in the half and a 1 point lead, Josh Downs end around gets the Colts into FG position.  They kick the FG to make it a 4 point lead.  And, they get the ball to start the second half.

Those two big runs for 89 yards by r i d d e r should have been capitalized by more successful running. That's a huge number.

I didn’t think Ridder would be able to run like that until I mistakenly left the freeezeframe off of him.  Of course, that was also against a Colts defense expecting a pass.  Bijon Robinson has been the Falcons work horse all season, and he never got much going against the Colts D-Line.

The next time the Falcons got the ball, there was less than 30 seconds and they were at their own 9 with no timeouts left.  Admirable drive to try to win the game though!

  10. Final Stats of Note

    Falcons

    Ridder:  2 rushes 83 yds 1TD    12/16 251 yards 2TDs 2 sacks

    Patterson:  2 receptions 89 yards 1TD

    Robinson:  10 rushes 32 yds  reception 15yds

    Pitts :  5 receptions 88yds 1TD

    Colts

    Taylor:  14 rushes 54 yds    4 receptions 55yds 3TDs   5 returns 163yds

    Pittman:  3 receptions 31 yds     1 return 103 yds 1TD

    Downs:   1 rush 43yds    2 receptions 31yds

    Moore:  5 tackles
