Sorry ya'll, here's another late, late, late thought that occurred to me while playing [as that is when most thoughts present themselves. Are you sick of me now? :)]. I allow tackles from any angle. Sometime a ball carrier gets hit really quickly and the momentum gains him an extra yard before he comes to a complete stop. I've always likened that to the extra effort I've seen NFL players give each time they carry the ball. To add yet another slight advantage to the home team. Should that happen, the home team would be given that extra yardage whereas the visiting team would have the ball spotted at the point of contact. Does that make sense? Blessings, Curt.

Curt, all your suggestions are really thought-provoking ideas! I wonder though if by providing any of the advantages listed for the ENTIRE GAME gives the home team TOO MUCH of an advantage. Perhaps trying it for a season and recording how often the home team wins vs the road team and comparing those stats with actual NFL stats would provide a good indicator as to whether the rule is fair or not. Just some thoughts.

  2. Great tournament so far! Are there home and away teams in this tournament or are the teams playing at a neutral site? If there are home and away teams, how do you determine which team hosts the game?

I noticed your Steelers and Redskins are playing each other in this round. I'm playing that very match-up right now. Both teams have already won their divisions. The home team Redskins are leading 7-3 at halftime. Bradshaw threw a pick 6 on the first play of the game, and Steeler kicker Matt Bahr booted a field goal as time ran out in the first half.

  4. Glad your Bills finally got their division title! My Bills, an expansion team in their third season are still looking for their first win. Two 0-3 seasons and 0-2 so far this current season. The Broncos, an expansion team that came into the league the same season as the Bills are currently the defending Super Bowl champs. Quite the contrast.

  5. A very thought provoking discussion. I had a similar idea to TOEPRO's crowd simulation idea. How about a five yard false start penalty against the visiting team at a point in the game of the home team's chosing? I'm considering this for my league thanks to this discussion!

  6. Thank you for posting this, Curt. There is always value in seeing how others play the game. I like your league set up. Mine is similar in that I have three teams in each division though currently I have two divisions (AFC Great North, NFC Super South) with 4 teams each. I added 2 teams (Dolphins and Bucs) for the current season, #16.  I have 20 teams in my league, but that will punch up to 24 when I get around to painting the new teams; Chargers, Seahawks, Bears and Lions.

No. Most people I have bought games from are selling because their kids don't play with it anymore, never played with it, cleaning out their closets and attics or reselling flea market and yard sale finds.

That is what I have seen also. Several sellers commented that the game was only used once or twice.

  8. That Colts player is from a team I traded for in 1978. Not sure exactly how old they are, however. Got my first board for Christmas that year along with the AFC Central and NFC West teams. My buddy desperately wanted the Houston Oilers. So, he offered to trade his Colts, Giants, Eagles and Redskins for my Oilers. Needless to say, I took that deal! Never understood why he didn't just order the Oilers from Tudor. 🤨 So instead of starting my league with 8 teams, I started with 12.
