1269895236_playoff.png.87ab2bd12522b8202b9afcf8c91aedc2.pngARTICLE WRITTEN BY Matt McQueen. December 3, 2020. Dallas, Texas. What a game today, it's the NFC Wild Card Game#2 between the Long Island Electric Football League Washington Football Team, or Redskins (5-2), vs the Dallas Cowboys (5-2).These two teams from a historic perspective, give us an NFL like feel because of the rivalry, which in many ways we ourselves created in order to attempt to replicate NFL football. These two teams last met on September 21,2020. Dallas won that game, 14-10. The Cowboys did a nice job containing Washington Tailback Tony Green, who had 35 yards rushing in that game. On the other end of the spectrum Washington held Emmitt Smith to just six yards in the game. It was Terrell Owens and Michael Irvin who beat Washington. Owens had two carries for 149 yards, with a 100 kick return into the end zone, and Irvin caught a 17 yard touchdown pass to lead Dallas over Washington. Coach Viggs knows this, so that will be his focus, to contain these two, and then worry about Smith.

With a (112-70) record, Washington is number #2 ranked All-Time team in the Long island Electric Football League. Washington won a thriller in LIEFL-Super Bowl VII in 1984 by upsetting the Miami Dolphins 34-31, in overtime. In that game Super Bowl VII MVP, fullback John Riggins, rushed for 97 yards with three touchdowns, which for the Redskins at that time, gave Coach Ed Viggs enormous confidence in his ability to win the big games. Washington has been one of the most steady teams in the league, but this game on the road in Dallas in the NFC Wild Card Game is a great division rival matchup and challenge because the two know each other so well. This game has a similar feel to the Seattle and Los Angeles game. Washington has lots of weapons that they will break out today if they need to, but let's start with Tony Green. Green ranked #19 in the LIEFL in All-Purpose Yards with 62 carries for 1190 yards, with seven touchdowns, and in rushing Green had 45 carries for 247 yards, with five touchdowns ranked at #13 in the NFC. Another player who has been very steady this season is Charlie Taylor. Taylor has three catches for 180 yards with a touchdown.

As for the Dallas Cowboys they have been rebuilding for three or four seasons now. Rookie coach Levi Vick has a huge undertaking today, but he decided with the league's permission that the Cowboys would wear their white jerseys for the game. Coach Viggs had no issue with the request. Vick has some fantastic players coming into this game. Cowboys star, Terrell Owens has been a beast, and he's been nearly unstoppable. Owens ranked #10 in the NFC in All-Purpose Yards with 21 carries for1196 yards, with seven touchdowns, four of them 100 yarders! Behind big old Larry Allen is a guy by the name of Emmitt Smith. Smith has been the anchor to this team with consistent running and contributions on defense. In many ways, nobody does it better when push comes to shove. Smith finds the holes and the Dallas offensive line has lots of power. On defense linebacker Dexter Coakley has made a difference and stepped up big for Dallas, and Leon Lett plays a fierce game at nose-tackle. Perhaps the Cowboys best defensive player when he's on is tackle Randy White. Both of these teams will put on a show today and then pending on how the special teams works out this one could go either way.

After yesterday's thrashing of the New York Jets by the Los Angeles Chargers 52-27, coach Ed Viggs is on the rampage. He is still motivated no matter what! Last season, coach Billy O'C saw his Rams and Dolphins play in the Super Bowl, both his teams. Viggs has ambition to do the same thing with an AFC and NFC team. We think he's the best coach in the Long Island Electric Football League and win or lose he's a great sportsman. Coach Levi Vick in his rookie season has performed well with the Cowboys, but there is no room for error playing against coach Viggs. Mistake after mistake in the AFC Wild Card game Viggs made coach Joey Pizz pay dearly, and Viggs walked away with the AFC Divisional Championship Game #1 against the Indianapolis Colts (7-1). Coach Levi Vick comes over from a Nassau county league that he won two Championships playing in. In the LIEFL coach Vick has done well at (9-17). He shows lots of promise! He also encouraged his former Nassau County Long Island League to put all of their information up on Tudor's website, but we have not seen any mention of them to date.

FIRST QUARTER KICKOFF:

COWBOYSTD.png.16a7ac9d6517ea2e5150b55fb6de6090.png On the opening kick return Cowboys All-Pro Terrell Owen ran 56-yards! On first down Washing did their talking on the field, that's where the Cowboys came to a stop as a ferocious Washington defense stomped running back Emmitt Smith with a 15-yard loss. On second down, Smith couldn't get Dallas back to the line of scrimmage. They were forced to pass on third down, but quarterback Troy Aikman was nearly sacked and he threw the ball away, so Dallas settled for a field goal on their first possession to make the score 3-0 Cowboys, with 9:54 remaining in the first quarter!

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.pngWashington came prepared but they settled in after a horrible kick return of 20 yards by Tony Green who latched on to defensive tackle Mark May and the play was called dead. On first down, Green wasted no time. He ran 10 yards on his first carry but then on the second carry he was stuffed by the Dallas defense tackle, Harvey Martin along with Larry Allen. On third down quarterback Joe Thiesman threw a beautiful pass to Charlie Taylor who took it down the right sideline for a 43 yard gain to the  Dallas 15-yard line and the two minute warning sounded off. With play resuming on first down, running back Tony Green was stopped
and on second down Michael Irvin snuck in from the outside and made a beautiful tackle on Green as Washington lost five yards, bringing up third down. The first quarter came to an end!

Second Quarter Action:

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.png Coach Levi Vick has done an excellent job with the Cowboys defense. So far, the Washington Football team has been ferocious as we watch Charlie Taylor break away on third down to score the game's first touchdown from 15 yards away on a beautiful touchdown catch thrown by Washington quarterback Joe Theismann, who took over for an unproductive Dwayne Haskins.

COWBOYSTD.png.16a7ac9d6517ea2e5150b55fb6de6090.pngThis being coach Vicks first playoff game in the Long island Electric Football League is a great experience. This time around Washington wasn't so lucky as Terrell Owens scorched the field with a hundred yard touchdown run to put the Cowboys ahead 10-7, on an absolutely spectacular run!

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.pngWashington's Tony Green came storming right back with a 77-yard kick return of his own to set up Washington at the 23-yard line of Dallas! On first down Green ran 13 yards to the ten-yard line, hit hard by Cowboys defensive tackle, Harvey Martin who made his second tackle of the game with 9:54 remaining in the half! And on the very next play Green swept into the end zone for a touchdown to give the Washington the edge 14-10 with 8:36 remaining in the half! Washington and Dallas are at war!

COWBOYSTD.png.16a7ac9d6517ea2e5150b55fb6de6090.pngOn the following kickoff Terrell Owens blazed down the field again for an 81-yard kick return, but Dexter Manley saved the day and tackled him at the 19 yard line of Washington on another tremendous play by Owens who's just getting warmed up! On first down Emmett Smith ran for four yards. Then on second down he ran for another six and picked up a first down at the Dallas eight-yard line. But on the next play Dexter Manley made a tremendous stop for Washington, chasing Smith in the backfield for an 18-yard loss! It was Manley's third tackle of the game with 2:49 left to go in the half. On the next play with the clock running Emmett Smith caught a nine yard pass, bringing the ball back to the 18-yard line, still 10 yards short of where Dallas was originally at the line of scrimmage. This brings up third down for the Cowboys! Emmitt Smith exploded to the five yard line, but the Cowboys had a settle for a field goal, finding themselves up against a wall of maroon, as the relentless Washington defense shut Smith and the Cowboys down. The field goal made the score 14-13, Washington in the lead with 51 seconds left to go in the half and Washington called a timeout!

Tony Green just lit up the scoreboard with a 100-yard kick return on a spectacular play executed by Washington to give them the lead 21-13 with 36 seconds left and Dallas called a timeout! This is some game and Terrell Owens has been hot, but what a play by Green!

COWBOYSTD.png.16a7ac9d6517ea2e5150b55fb6de6090.pngHoly cow! We have ourselves a game as we watch Terrell Owens take back his own 100 yard touchdown, for his second of the day! Unbelievable football game that has this place is on its feet going crazy! The Cowboys stormed right back to make the score 21-20, with 20 seconds left in the half! Washington called there last time out of the half as we look on in amazement!

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.pngFinally to bring the first half to the close, Tony Green ran back a 50 yard return and was hit hard by Cowboys outside linebacker, Dexter Coakley to end the first half!

Third Quarter Action:

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.png To open the third quarter it was Dexter Coakley again, showing up to ring the doorbell of Tony Green, stopping Green at the 35-yard line and the Washington offensive line comes out for the second half! With a wide open hole on first down Cowboys linebacker Bob Lilly came up with a huge hit on Tony Green who ran for 13 yards to the 49-yard line and Lily saved Dallas from a touchdown by Washington. Washington's offensive line really kicked in as Green picked up another 15 yards, taking the ball to the Dallas 36-yard line with 11:27 remaining in the third quarter. Coach Levi Vick is desperately trying to stop the Washington running attack as Green picks up another first down at the Dallas 25 yard line with 9:45 left to go in the third quarter!

On first down Washington opened up a huge hole and Green ran right through the middle for a 25-yard touchdown as the Washington football team takes the lead 28-20 with 8:27 left to go in the third quarter!

COWBOYSTD.png.16a7ac9d6517ea2e5150b55fb6de6090.pngThis time on the kick return Terrell Owens fought hard for 56 yards. After being stopped on first and second down Emmitt Smith and the Cowboys needed a first down but they got more on a beautiful pass from Troy Aikman to the star of the game for the Cowboys, Terrell Owens who grabbed his third touchdown of the game with a 44-yard pass reception to make the score 28-27, with 1:53 left to go in the third quarter as the two minute warning sounds off!

Fourth Quarter Action

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.pngTony Green exploded for 24-yard run to the Dallas 17-yard line with 14:44 remaining in the game as Leon Lett made a big tackle for Dallas! The matchups in this game have been terrific by both coaches. This game and it's intensity just grew as Tony Green was shut down on his next two runs, bringing up a third down situation for Washington. Washington failed to get the first down, making it fourth down with a huge decision in the game which could be a deal-breaker for Washington! Coach Viggs decided to go for it and hand the ball to the "Diesel" John Riggins at the 10-yard line and the next play, RIggins bullied his way into the end zone on the riskiest play of the game by coach Viggs, for a touchdown! but he believed in the Diesel, and Riggins did what he does best, perform under pressure to make the score 35-27 with 7:46 remaining in the game! What a game! It has turned into a nail biter!

COWBOYSTD.png.16a7ac9d6517ea2e5150b55fb6de6090.png A huge Tyrell Owens ran 58 yards back on the kick return, and it took two guys to bring him down, Tony Green and Art Monk as Dallas starts at the Washington 42 yard line, with 6:07 remaining in the game! No matter what happens Dallas needs two scores, and this is going to be a rough ending! On first down Emmitt Smith ran for another first down to the Washington 31 yard line, but then he was slammed on second down by a storming defense of maroon jerseys, pushing Smith back to the 43 yard line, forcing a pass play on the upcoming third down with 3:01 left in the game and Dallas calls a timeout!

The Cowboys third down attempt to pass failed as they were shut down by the Washington defense yet again, and on fourth down Dallas kicked another field goal, this time from 43-yards to make the score 35-30, with Washington in the lead as the two minutes warning sounds off!

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.png It sure does appear as the Washington will go home to play Seattle and what will be a fantastic game of matchups that would be! Coach Viggs will go on the warpath as his Washington football team sure does have a shot at winning this tournament. And that's all she wrote! Tony Green blasted off again with another electrifying hundred yard touchdown, to put this game to rest as Washington takes the lead 42 30, on an amazing touchdown run by Green! Only one word could describe that play, WOW! Green has had a monster day with his second 100-yard kick return for a touchdown and we've seen a few historic games already in these playoffs! The showmanship has been incredible, and it's getting even more exciting and the fact that Washington is going to play Seattle who beat Los Angeles, that's one incredible game in the making for a huge battle Royale, Marshawn Lynch of Seattle and Tony Green of Washington!

As  the points continue to tally up, with the score Washington 42 Dallas 37, with 1:28 left to go in the game, and apparently we are not finished in this amazing NFC Wild Card battle!

WASHTD.png.c879cc34c6b10325ce9ce48a39b7235f.pngWashington still has two timeouts remaining, but Dallas uses one of theirs as we witness another historic game here. This place erupted on that third touchdown run by Owens and back-to-back touchdowns by Green and Owens have put on a show doing it! On the kick return, Green nearly did it again, running the bowl back 86 yards and ramping up the yardage! Washington is just going to let the clock run as they set up with 42 seconds on the clock, Washington wins the game as they kick a field goal to make the score 45-37!

Washington is heading back home to play the Seattle Seahawks (5-3), for the NFC Divisional Championship Game! Dallas and coach Levi Vick played an amazing game, but it wasn't enough to beat these almighty ferocious Washington Football Team, who won their 113th career victory!

After the game we caught up with Coach Viggs who said, "Man that is a great Cowboys football team, one of the best I've seen in years. Levi Vick did an amazing job coaching them, and you have to really respect Dallas after that game, and Tony Green gets the game ball and MVP for today! He played an amazing game, but really, the key play of the game may have been John Riggins running the ball in from the 10-yard line! That could have changed everything but our defense was solid today. They did exactly what they needed to do to win this game!  Hail to the Redskins!"

Slawson’s Corner!! I know that guy, what a character! Those baby blue uniforms are spectacular and so is the organization Of the playoff bracket. Levi Vick’s had a great season even though he lost 18 games! It’s snowing again for the Washington win, or maybe for Uncle Frosty! 🥶
