EFLLOGO.jpg.bab64f2da1223588a1cc43084ca75b2e.jpg(Long Island Electric Football League) November 23, 2022. Happy Thanksgiving!  Tradition is so important in our families, especially our EFL family. We learned you don't have to travel the country to find competition. Long Island is loaded with it in our own backyard! There were some great games yesterday and today up first at 9am is games 92, 93, and 94 of the 112 regular season games played in the 2023 EFL season!

Check out the action. Coach Joey Pizz' New York Giants (3-2) have a tough game against third year coach Levi Vick's Dallas Cowboys (3-2) in their sixth game of the season. This one is sure to be a high-pressure game with intense coaching and decision making, just like a playoff game. Losing might set back either team in the fight to stay alive in the NFC playoff picture. The Washington Redskins (6-0), clinched the NFC East title, and they earned the first seed spot in the playoffs, but who will the other six teams be?

casper(2)ARRRRRT.thumb.jpg.624c81916caef64c5a6f55bbb4fbda41.jpg... This photo on the left of Dave Casper running down the center of the field, is a scene that New York Giants Coach Joey Pizz will never forget from 2008, LIEFL Super Bowl XI, and check it out, while LIEFL history is probably only important to us, our kids get to laugh at grown men still arguing about the Who's Who of Electric Football.

Billy O'C had the savvy to shoot and save many pictures from this league over the years! On a very sad note, his mother who passed, was an international athlete from Cuba and legendary coach, somehow accidently threw pictures out of five childhood electric football shots from the 1970's, which were stored in a book. It was a heartbreak, but that's life. Again, Incredible, but he saved as much as he could to preserve league history, and we feel, that is what make this LIEFL league one of the most important in the world in our hobby, because we have the proof of its history! We never said best, but we can brag about it being historic on the grid of electric football history! Imagine, we now have an innovative Electric Football Historic Game Museum! This craft has grown leaps and bounds and we are honored to be a tiny part of its growth. We wish when we stop playing in 2025, that we can pass our tradition along to the younger generation, but we don't see many kids playing this game from Gen Z. None of our kids play the game and they have no interest. We want to know that the same love is given to our teams that we gave.

In 2008, O'C started buying up all the 67-Big Men he could after a long hiatus from electric football. By that time, the internet exploded and finally, years later, we came across this guy by the name of Bryan Nutt, "Beenut", who sold decals. You all know Bryan as the owner of Tudor Games where he sits now. If not for Bryan, our teams wouldn't look so beautiful. We invested in every team as the LIEFL rebirthed itself. Before Bryan, we only numbered the backs of the player jersey's. Prior to that, the game had somehow been absent for years around the country before Mike Landsman started Miggle, and it was hard to buy the teams. Billy O'C sold all his Haiti and hogleg teams on ebay, which were in pristine condition, and he then used the money to buy any available 67-Big Men teams he could. At that time we couldn't make the uniforms like the lifelike ones' you see today.  That was O'C's vision and the transformation to where we sit as a league today is incredible as we celebrate Thanksgiving.

You can never count the Giants or the Cowboys out of anything when it comes to the NFC East because it's unpredictable. We think this is the best Giants team they've had since losing to the Oakland Raiders in LIEFL Super Bowl XI when Raiders frontman Dave Casper became famous in our league with a 100-yard kick return to start the game, and 100-yard kick return to end and win the game for Oakland in OT. The Giants are special though, with last year's top offensive player and record shattering Ahmad Bradshaw. He's part of a Giants tandem of Shaquon Barkley, Bradshaw and two terrific receivers named Odell Beckham Jr, and Mark Bavaro. Playing a game on the road in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day won't be easy for the Giants and Coach Joey Pizz. Pizz said, "We talked about the game last night and Levi has his Cowboys ready so my best bet is going to be to drag this game into overtime and beat his proud Cowboys because I can't stand Dallas."

History is sometimes fascinating to us because we love comparing records and past games. In the LIEFL 1978 season, the NFC Divisional Game between the Giants and Cowboys was won by New York 24-17, but then the Giants lost the NFC Championship Game 21-17 to New Orleans. Then in 1982, New York beat Dallas again 41-35, in the NFC Wild Came. They went on to beat Washington in the Divisional Game, but then lost in the NFC Championship Game to San Francisco 38-21. There's quite a history between these two teams, and when it comes to the big spot, the Giants and Cowboys both are challenged as strong finishers.

The Cowboys won their 90th game this season as a team and while they've accomplished 90 wins, they've yet to make it to the LIEFL Super Bowl. Levi Vick is no stranger to winning. Vick won two Super Bowl titles in his former Nassau County league. The closest Dallas has come in this league was in 1995, when they beat a tough New Orleans Saints team 16-13 in an overtime upset, but then they lost to the Redskins in the NFC Divisional Game 35-17. They were also involved in a record that has since been broken.

In 2000, the Cowboys beat the Falcons 56-52 in the NFC Wild Card Game, which is still the third highest scoring game in LIEFL history. But then the following week Dallas lost to a fanatical revived Philadelphia Eagles team 35-20 in the NFC Divisional Championship Game. This coach Levi Vick brought the respect for the Cowboys back in 2020, by winning the NFC East! They would lose the NFC Wild Card Game to Washington 45-37 in a blistering battle that could have went either way. Now they're back!

EACH GAME WILL BE WRITTEN UP AFTER THEY ARE PLAYED.

This is a peak into the up-to-the minute playoff picture in the NFC. It looks like Carolina isn't backing down, and Green Bay has lost a step as the top dog in the NFC. These are some bad hombres lined up for battle in the flowery Super Bowl Tournament. We won't be going to Florida this season because New York Yankees guy Ray Negron whose documentary B A T B O Y, The Ray Negron story is nearly completed by Billy O'C. They have to stay in New York to complete the doc.
