The Panthers joined the NFL in 1995 and were instantly competitive. Carolina finished its inaugural season with a 7-9 record to set a new NFL record for wins by an expansion team. The following season, the Panthers claimed a division title and advanced to the conference title game. Then, in 2003, just two seasons removed from a 1-15 record, Carolina won the NFC championship to gain its first Super Bowl berth. The Panthers earned another NFC championship in 2015, but were defeated in Super Bowl 50. Courtesy of Pro Football Hall of Fame

The LIEFL-Carolina Panthers live for games like this. The Long Island Electric Football League in Week 6 and 7 are usually the most exciting weeks. It's win or walk!  This game is a really important rematch of last year's NFC Wild Card game, where Carolina beat Green Bay 42-20 in what was a closer game than the score. In that game the Packers showed a lot of promise, so much promise that here they are undefeated in Week #6 taking on the Panthers at home. Every coach came to watch this game.  They all have access to the Tudor site, and they all follow the numbers religiously.

Carolina Coach Matt Zoo-York McQueen said, "My team is hungry for this game. Foster and Jones can deliver a knock-out shot to the Packers, and I 've been scouting the Packers out. Good luck stopping my two guys who have produced 1243 yards and 10 touchdowns! That's a lot of firepower coming at you and I think my game plan will succeed today, but hey, I am going against Coach Viggs, and he's definitely one of the smartest coaches in the country. The guy is an excellent athlete and he is a student of the game. The Green Bay defense has definitely improved, but I think we will get the best of them and keep this game close.  How about, Kevin Greene, Sam Mills, and Larry Webster are going to come up big for us. We've been talking about this game for the last three weeks, and now it's here."

The Panthers are an explosive football team. They've won two straight games, one, against Arizona 17-14, and last week they beat Minnesota at Minnesota 27-21 in overtime! Carolina has distributed the ball nicely, and their kick returner Greg Jones has 818 yards and two touchdowns! It doesn't stop there. Running back DeShaun Foster is almost impossible to stop. He's ranked #4 in the NFC, and he has ruffled up 425 total yards with eight touchdowns as one of the toughest backs in the league. The Carolina defense is vicious as well!

Packers.jpg.1ca185fffbd6efa76ab8ec5e16a118f8.jpgGREEN BAY PACKERS (5-0)

COACH ED VIGGS (13-8)

The Packers were formed in 1919 and joined the NFL in 1921. No team in NFL history has won more championships than the Packers which has earned Green Bay the moniker, "Titletown USA." Over the years, the Packers have twice strung together three straight league crowns (1929-1931, and 1965-67). In all, the franchise has claimed a record 13 NFL championships including four Super Bowl titles. Courtesy of Pro Football Hall of Fame

On the other end of the spectrum. This should be a great rematch. The Packers defense has given up an NFL-BEST 31 points, but many around the league feel they haven't been tested, and are suspect, but we'll see today against one of the best offenses in the game. Packers Coach, Ed Viggs knows that this will be no easy game in this matchup and he's relying that brutal  and unforgiving Green Bay defense to stop the Panthers mauling ability. Viggs has to rely on a not so great offense to win this game. As the teams get better the Packers will need an offense. Maybe they will bring back John Jefferson from the past, or who knows who they may trade for in the January Draft. Coach Viggs builds winners!

Green Bay beat Minnesota to start the season 7-0, then they beat rival Detroit 14-7, and New Orleans in New Orleans 14-10, and in a very close game, they beat the Atlanta Falcons 10-7, in overtime, until last week they beat a very convincing and "red-hot" Chicago Bears team 13-7! That brings them to this game. Packers running back, Terdell Middleton has only 239 yards rushing, and he has been part of the offensive production of the team, but Sterling Sharpe has totaled 482 total yards with one touchdown. They have yet to unleash Jim Taylor, who exploded against Carolina in that 2019, Wild Card game for 160 yards rushing. The Pack is holding on to Taylor in the event they can trade off for him so they can add to an already stellar defensive unit. Is Viggs leaving Taylor in the cage until tonight's game? The question is, how far can Viggs take these Packers? They are still in a tight race with division rival Detroit who is (4-1), but even if Green Bay loses this game, they can still clinch the division because they beat Detroit. Every game and point counts!

pack3art.thumb.png.82ac64a420ff396aacb109915231814a.pngThe Green Bay Packers on the opening kickoff were stopped at the 30 yard line as Sterling Sharpe got twisted and bent by the Carolina Panther defense. On first down, the Green Bay Packers offense kicked into high gear handing the ball off to the Panthers nemesis, Jim Taylor who took a 28 yard run upfield for the first down! On second down, Taylor burst forward for another first down to the Carolina 30-yard line! Surprise, surprise! And the Panthers fought right back on the next play dropping Jim Taylor four yards behind the line of scrimmage, with second down coming up. Carolina continues to struggle trying to figure out Jim Taylor as he ran hard around the right side of the field into the end zone to make the score 7-0, giving Green Bay the lead in front of a home crowd at Lambeau Field, with 8:55 left to go in the half! What a run by Taylor! We don't see the guy run the ball all season, but in the big games, the Packers and Coach Viggs breaks out the big guns!

Panthers star back, Greg Jones ran the ball back 44-yards for the Carolina Panthers on their opening kickoff! On first down, Deshaun Foster ran 21 yard full steam ahead to the Packers 35-yard line on first down! It took just three plays for Foster and the Panthers to run to the Packers 15-yard line with 2:30 left to go in the half. The Panthers busted through the number one defense in the Long island Electric Football League in Green Bay who has allowed just 31 points this season. Foster ran ahead again, this time for 14-yards to the Carolina one yard line, tackled by Green Bay defensive end, Reggie White as the first half came to a close!

At the start of the second half, from one yard out, Carolina running back, DeShaun Foster ran in the touchdown to tie the game with 14:48 left to go in the game, 7-7!
1095165473_pack2(1)art.thumb.png.7fc61ecd8b8beec049d786ce38ff750a.png
On a great kickoff return for the Packers, receiver Sterling Sharpe exploded for a 44-yard return.  On first down Jim Taylor picked up where he left off with a 6-yard run to midfield, tackled by Greg Jones. On second down, Taylor ran for 10 yards for another first down to the Carolina 40 yard line with 9:37 left to go in the game. This is exactly what Green Bay needed to keep the pressure on Carolina, and unlike that game in the playoffs last year, Coach Viggs has created a stable balance between his offense and defense tonight with big Jim Taylor leading the way. On second down, Green Bay decided to pass after Taylor was stopped on first down. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a beautiful pass to Sterling Sharpe over the middle of the field, and Sharpe ran for a 28-yard first down, bringing the ball to the Carolina 16-yard line with 5:08 remaining in the game! Taylor was stopped on a first down run at the 20 yard line, for a 4-yard loss as Coach Viggs worked the clock. The Packers have played nearly a perfect game, keeping the ball away from Foster and Jones, and that is not an easy task. Leave it to the Green Bay defense, which Viggs seems to believe in more than the league does. Taylor was stopped on first down and brought back for a 17 yard loss, and the Packers again, decided to pass the ball on second down. With clock running down, running back Terdell Middleton failed to get a first down for the Packers on the pass play, and he was stopped at the line of scrimmage! On the next play Jim Taylor got back 4 yards, but he brought the ball to the Carolina 35-yard line with 7 seconds left in the game. The Green Bay Packers in dramatic fashion kicked the 35 yard field goal to win the game, beating Carolina in a 10-7 war as the Packers remain undefeated in the 2020 season! They are the only undefeated team in the Long Island Electric Football League in Week#6!

Coach Viggs just threw his fist in the air in victory as the Packers had great reason to celebrate, beating an awesome football team who they will most likely see again in the playoffs! The Green Bay Packers (6-0), defense kept the ball out of Foster's hands and Jones hands and that was the key to the game, time management and defense! So far this season defense has played a significant role for the Packers but they proved today against one of the best teams in the league that they can play offense as well. Jim Taylor rose to the occasion with 84 yards rushing and a touchdown to give the Packers the victory. What a game! Green Bay flies to division rival Chicago to battle to be the only team in the seven game season to have an undefeated season!

The Carolina Panthers (3-3) will finish the season at home against division rival New Orleans Saints!
