It seems second year LIEFL Patriots Coach Levi Vick's aim is Super Bowl after pulling off a major 21-14 upset on the road against the LIEFL back-to-back AFC Champion Miami Dolphins. New England's star player Rob Gronkowski managed to stay a step ahead of the Dolphins defense with his 203 all-purpose yards, including a 62 yard touchdown reception to carry  this tough New England team into the AFC playoffs , clinching the AFC Eastern Division title in the process! What an UPSET!

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngLong Island Electric Football League. January 2, 2023. Happy New Year! The Playoffs are set!

Thank you for reading our LIEFL Forum page. Our league is locked out and filled with eight stubborn, bold, and hardcore METAL-BOARD warriors who are all childhood best friends who lots in common, especially the fact that we refuse to quit playing this game now, so we live in the moments with busy lives and schedules.

We have been very busy winding down our final week of regular season games and onward to the LIEFL 2023 Playoffs! What an exciting week it's been in our New Years electric football jamboree! After playing 114 games, we finally completed our regular season. We noticed the coaches’ attitudes have adjusted, the game faces are on, and the money is on this line with some intense electric football still to be played. The build up at the end of our season has lots of drama, probably like your leagues. We play for money, fellowship, and the love of the hobby! The LIEFL exclusively uses the Tudor Games 67-Big Men in our league with no modifications to players. We also play with all 32 NFL teams in what will be our 6th consecutive 7-Game season. Prior to that from 1974 to 2000 we played 14 game seasons, but life got in the way, and we didn't want to lose the passion for our hobby so the 7-Game season in 2008 was created by our league Commissioner Billy O'C to keep the tradition of electric football alive.

We encourage building the hobby through your stories and leagues. This is our 50th year in the hobby and our league is well documented. We also encourage you to check out the National Electric Football Game Museum.

So, welcome to another exciting week on Long Island in our final week of regular season play in the Long Island Electric Football League with some great matchups and coaches. What a wild week it’s been! Last week history was made in the league again. Coach Viggs and his Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings 17-14, to give the Packers their 100th LIEFL win!

1081651330_download(1).jpg.a7ace244598fe82e69931f40de28e606.jpgGATORADE REPORT: We saw big upsets again in Week #6! The Buccaneers beat the Jets 17-14 in overtime on their home turf with a spectacular performance by Tampa Bay specialist Jimmie Giles. In addition to Miami losing to Tennessee, we saw the Seattle Seahawks crush the playoff hopes of Coach Johnny Freeport Chucker and his Detroit Lions with Marshawn Lynch fueling his atomic delivery of 331 all-purpose yards with four touchdowns, two of them hundred yarders, knocking the Lions out of the playoff picture!

After every season since 2008, we match new player bases up against our First Team All-Pro’s to strategically weed out player bases in search of replacements to make an under-performing team more competitive. Every team in the LIEFL has been the beneficiary of the incredible draft we held. We only wish we were smart enough as kids to do a draft, but we couldn’t afford to buy electric football accessories every year.  Now we hunt for the right fit, the right player base, the right chemistry for each coach and each team. It's an amazing process which has the LIEFL souring.

The league is all about time, toughness, strategic and mental preparation, and most importantly understanding speed and that time clock.

The LIEFL AFC 7-Game Season Rushing record is on the verge of being broken in Week#7 by Los Angeles Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson needs just 42 yards rushing to break Miami Dolphins Mercury Morris’ 2019 mark of (59-693-13-TDS) in a 7-game season. Also, we failed to include the Indianapolis Colts (3-3) on the playoff equation and Coach Billy O’C was not happy. The Freeport-Chucker was in on that one. The Colts have the leading offensive producer in Joseph Addai in the Colts race to the finish line!

LET’S DIVE INTO WEEK #7 ACTION:

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngNEW YORK JETS (3-3) VS BUFFALO BILLS (3-3)

And so it was a game with the potential to determine a potential playoff spot for the AFC Wild Card team in the AFC East. The New York Jets against the Buffalo Bills, both (3-3), and a fiery match up to say the least, especially being division rivals. What a game it was! It may sound crazy, but the Jets defense dominated on the line of Blue and Green, but it was Buffalo, the more experienced team who capitalized on the Jets and Coach Joey Pizz mental errors.

aaa1art.thumb.jpg.d654d71b1e668ce2bfd5fc188acad751.jpgBuffalo's OJ Simpson's 66 yard kick return set up the Bills first score when Simpson himself scored the first touchdown on a 25-yard touchdown to take the lead, 7-0. The Jets had a slow start to their special teams and it was Buffalo defense who stopped New York on every play on the first set of downs, forcing the ball back over to the Bills. And Buffalo took full advantage with a Josh Allen rocket to Andre Reed for a 48-yard touchdown strike that put Coach Billy O'C's Buffalo Bills ahead 14-0! O'C wasn't letting up!

In the second half it, the Jets fell apart. They played no better, made no adjustments, and they had few answers to the Bills stunning capable offense. The Jets faced the same exact scenario as the previous set of downs with their backs against the wall. Coach Joey Pizz tried to move his offensive line around but a stubborn Buffalo defense stood in the way. Determined, Buffalo stopped the Jets again, and the ball was turned back over to the Bills. One thing the Jets did was push back on OJ Simpson's running game holding Simpson to just eight rushes for 21 yards on the ground. And it was Andre Reed yet again for Buffalo, who picked up the pieces on blown coverage which put him in the end zone from 16 yards away and again Billy OC passed a rocket to Andre Reed for another 16 yard touchdown!
On the Jets next possession, they looked impressive too-little-too -late, with a beautiful Wesley Walker 42-yard kick return. One play later with seconds left in the game, Le'Veon Bell ran a 58-yard touchdown run to close the game at 21-7 Buffalo with the Bills eliminating the hefty New York Jets from the 2022-23 Playoffs! The Jets would be the first of several teams eliminated from the playoffs. It was a sad ending for the Jets who played so hard this season, but the curse of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is to blame. They cursed the Rams, the Jets, and who is next?

The Bills (4-3), now have an opportunity to advance into the playoffs and that is a dangerous scenario for all teams if they get hot. They will play #2 New England in the AFC Wild Card Game! Get ready for war!

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngPITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-3) VS BALTIMORE RAVENS (2-4)

With a chance for the playoffs on the line, it was the “Comeback-Kids” Baltimore Ravens punishing and eliminating the Pittsburgh Steelers from the playoffs beating Pittsburgh in a 17-14 battle in the AFC North Division as the rivalry continues in Week #7!

Johnny Freeport Chucker’s nasty Ravens started the season 0-4, but that ignited Chucker to win three of the last four by beating the elite Green Bay Packers, then the Los Angeles Rams, and now the Pittsburgh Steelers eliminating them the playoffs. Chucker said to his best pal Steelers Coach Paddy Brannigan, “That’s the way the cookie crumbles. You guys talk trash, I back mine up.” We aren’t finished!

apravsart.thumb.jpg.aefe4be6db222b8cabe9ae5c9c6832aa.jpgIt was the usual Stars like Jamaal Lewis who won the game for the Ravens. LIEFL All-Pro Derrick Mason had three kick returns for 179 yards which set up Jamaal Lewis on the run. Lewis powered his way to 34 yards rushing on the ground. It was the tight end Mark Andrews who had a great 68-yard touchdown reception on broken coverage by the Steelers which gave Baltimore the lead.

On the other end of the ball Steelers running back Jerome “Bus” Bettis met a swarming Baltimore defense. Bettis ran for 51 yards and a touchdown, but really it was Lynn Swann who kept Pittsburgh in the game with 125 yards on kick returns, one of them an 82-yarder which set up Bettis’ 18-yard touchdown run in the first half. Swann had a 35-yard touchdown catch but it wasn't enough to beat the Ravens.

What a heartbreaker for Pittsburgh (3-4), but Baltimore (3-4) played a relentless and determined game. Chucker said, “It's wait and see at this point for my Ravens. I can beat Cleveland and I can beat the Bengals.” Does Chucker realize that he may not have a chance to play either because his Bengals face the Browns in the season finale? The Browns and Bengals can’t tie for the division title, but it would take a miracle for the Bengals to beat the Cleveland Browns (3-3). Chucker also owns the Bengals so he will get that chance to upset Cleveland.

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngNEW ORLEANS SAINTS (1-5) VS ATLANTA FALCONS (4-2)

Johnny Chucker showed up again late this time to play against the Saints. When the whistle blew and the clock started, a determined Chucker lit it up and put his Falcons in the playoffs for the first time since 2017 when they lost in the first round of the LIEFL 2020 NFC Divisional Game to Minnesota 21-17.

In 2019, the Saints delivered a hard blow to Chucker’s streaky Dirty Birds, ruining their playoff hopes in the last game of the season beating them, 26-21! Chucker never forgot it. Chucker said, “Today is revenge day, we are not losing to an average coach and a horrible team who won all the top drafts because they are so bad.” Mac responded by saying, “Talk to the hand Chucker, we will be the curse of the Falcons!” Well today anyway, Mac was wrong. He made mistakes and Chucker capitalized.

aprigart.thumb.jpg.7867a4a1ff23e5d5b91acad8472a4294.jpgIt was Gerald Riggs and Jamaal Anderson who made the difference in the game. Riggs was banged up good by the New Orleans defense with just 37 yards rushing and he had another 75 yards with one kick return. He finished the season with 61 touches for 1572 all-purpose yards with 11 touchdowns, one for 100-yards! Anderson scored on a sweet 25-yard touchdown reception. The question is which Falcons team will show up for the NFC Wild Card Game?

Saints star Reggie Bush had 102 all-purpose yards on the day. Bush had a great season even with the Saints losing 6 games. He had 64 touches for 1265 all-purpose yards with 7 touchdowns, two of them 100-yard touchdown returns! The New Orleans Saints finish at (1-6). The Atlanta Falcons are (5-2) and they punched their ticket to the LIEFL NFC Playoffs as we await the playoff schedule and end of the season final results.

The Falcons played tough, play for play against these Saints ensuring that there would be no upset by beating New Orleans 14-7! Coach Mac’s Saints are not to be taken lightly, they can compete hard and have had the top picks for three straight seasons, but it seems they are undersized for 67-Big Men. We have a good 10 extra teams in their plastic bags of the 67-BIG MEN and Mac may hand select 22 of them and repaint his Saints for the upcoming 2023 season this September. Sometimes change makes a difference.

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngTENNESSEE TITANS (5-1) VS HOUSTON TEXANS (2-4)

It was all Coach Levi Vick’s Houston Texans Superstar and a player whose become one of the legends of the LIEFL Ron Dayne, who was way too much to handle for the Titans! The Texans stunning crushing of the top team in their division was evident when the Houston offense rolled right through this testy Titans defense, beating Tennessee 14-3, in the final LIEFL Week of the regular season!

Vick said, “Inheriting this team has been such an honor. Ron Dayne is a super back. It’s like he’s alive, (Laughing) and watching him play and do his magic is incredible. I’ve played a lot of electric football and this guy is a BEAST! I worked hard on the Texans in the offseason, and we finished strong. We are only going to get better and battle for this division because we saw today who the better team is.”

The news of the day really was the Texans offense and defense that squashed any movement of the ball for the Titans. This is not uncommon in the last game of the season to happen but suddenly the Titans raise a red flag about playing games on the road. It's very possible they'll face the Cleveland Browns in the first wild card game. The Cleveland defense has been dominant, and it won’t be any walkover against the Browns revived defense.

apdayart.thumb.jpg.08c2c81990677f38ffc8d524b9777e6f.jpgRon Dayne did a lot of damage on his own swinging right and speeding past the Titans defense for short burst yardage finishing the game with 12 carries for 94 rushing yards with two touchdowns. The elite back had 192 all-purpose yards in the face paced game, finishing the season with impressive numbers. Dayne was in the top five in several categories in rushing, receiving, kick returns, and all-purpose yards, and he made the LIEFL record books again with his huge 169-yard rushing game with a 74-yard touchdown run against the tough Cleveland Browns defense!

LIEFL Coach Kevin Mac said, “We have watched all the videos from other leagues on YOUTUBE and the tournaments too. We love them, even Harrington Benton, the World’s harshest EFL Critique of all our leagues with his EFL Pro-Football, but he too would struggle with the set-up times and rules and pace of an LIEFL game. This is one of the reasons why we don’t compete in tournaments anymore, it has nothing to do with losing, our guys have won and lost plenty, it has to do with time and rules that slow up the pace, tempo, and natural free-flowing continuity of the game, which loses effect when there are too many time delays. We want our game to be old-school, fast paced, action packed, and performance driven just like in the NFL. Your guy can’t play? He’s gone! I build my teams on that premise, to compete.

Worth writing about because of his productivity, this season Ron Dayne rushed 49 times for 489 yards with 9 touchdowns, he had 18 touches for 944 yards in kick returns with two electrifying 100-yard touchdown returns, and he had a great all-purpose finish with 72 touches for 1590 yards, with15 touchdowns in the LIEFL 2022-23 season! Those are big numbers for any player in any league, and Big numbers for Dayne. Dayne holds the Texans all-time all-purpose record with an incredible 8,451 all-purpose yards with 60 touchdowns. That’s a player with a proven-track record and an incredible pattern of consistency!

Tians Coach Kevin Mac said, “Vick is a skilled coach. We just didn’t play well today. We are still a work in progress and now I have to get this team ready to compete for the playoffs and fix what is broken. Our defense needs to be more consistent, and the offense needs to get better. We had a tough schedule, but then again, every game is a war. As a coach I have to be ready for anything if I am going to take this team to a LIEFL Super Bowl.”

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngCINCINNATI BENGALS (3-3) VS CLEVELAND BROWNS (3-3).

The Cleveland Browns are a tough team and Cinderella favorite to possibly pull off some upsets in the AFC Playoffs after clinching the AFC North Division. The Browns shut down and shut out the Cincinnati Bengals 10-0, holding the Bengals to just 73 yards in the game! Cleveland’s defense has been tested this season, ranked in the Top five.

apbrowart.thumb.jpg.e0059bbccf31abd752552e20ce3c99ed.jpgThe story of the day was the balance the Browns have and the mix of players who are performing at top levels. The Bengals had a steady dose of Cleveland running back Mike Pruitt’s speed. Pruitt rushed 12 times for 85 yards with a touchdown. People are questioning the Browns legitimacy as a playoff team in what coaches like Johnny Chucker think is a weak division.

Jim Brown has had an excellent year, but the Browns need him to lead the team into the playoffs with more action. He had that big 417-yard all-purpose game against the Raiders in week three after being named LIEFL Player of the Week, then he went ghost. He had 809 all-purpose yards with 4 touchdowns, four of them 100-yard kick returns, but in the final three games Brown has produced just 212 all-purpose yards with zero touchdowns.

Long Island Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Andrew Slawson of LIEFL’s Slawson’s Corner said, “Come on man, these coaches are Pro’s, maybe the coaches caught on and found a way to stop Jim Brown’s kick return success, and they’ve adapted their game plan to make stopping Brown a priority by keeping the ball away from him as much as they can, but with that said a coach can’t be asking which Browns team will show up today? He has to step up if this team wants to win in the playoffs.”

Brown finished the day with a 34-yard kick return.

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngINDIANAPOLIS COLTS (3-3) VS JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (2-4)

ABADDART.thumb.jpg.f08a8509d49e8f5e3de1a7edf7a0015f.jpg

The season may be over for the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4) and Coach Levi Vick, but not without the Jags defense rampaging Billy O’C’s Indianapolis Colts (3-4) by eliminating the Colts from the AFC playoff picture 10-3! It’s been a day of collapse in the LIEFL for some of the best teams in the league. We can't help but acknowledge Coach Billy O'C's silent warrior Joseph Addai and the magnitude of his play in the league. Addai finished the season with 53 rushing carries for 579 yards just behind AFC leader LaDainian Tomlinson, and Addai had 14 rushing touchdowns. In the end, he had 73 total touches for 1,730 all-purpose yards with 15 touchdowns! That is something to build on for the Colts who were eliminating from the AFC Playoffs today.

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor played another great game for the Jaguars. Coach Billy O’C said about his opponent, “The consistent Taylor had 12 touches for 161 yards with a 37-yard touchdown catch. Where did all those yards go, I asked myself? I love playing against Taylor because you know he’s showing up to play and put on a show! Bring a defense if you are playing these guys.”

ABTAYLART.thumb.jpg.5a9c22641272a9889560a9057c82be3b.jpgVick said, “Taylor is our foundation. He isn’t playing for the statistics, he’s playing for a title every game! It is quite an accomplishment when my team shuts down a top elite offense and runner in the conference in Joseph Addai! We gave him notice that he’s being put on ice today. We held him to just 53 total yards and that’s the end of the story right there! My defense is stacked with the LIEFL AFC Best defensive tackle in LIEFL Rob Meier who had 14 tackles last season. I am bringing the beef!” The only team who took a step backward this season for Vick, is Dallas.

Fred Taylor finished the 2022-23 LIEFL season with 69 touches with 1,359 all-purpose yards and 9 touchdowns for Jacksonville. The workhorse is formidable as the Jaguars’ all-time leader in all-purpose yards with 7,434 with 36 touchdowns!

“Jacksonville has improved a great deal. As we’ve been saying in this league, nobody is safe and depending on your game plan, it’s anyone’s game, said Billy O’C after watching his Colts fall. I am just so disappointed in this team because we made it to the playoffs last season and lost to Denver. Back to the drawing board. Just when I think we are there with talent, BOOM, another coach and team did a better job building their team to win. Winning is a habit and so too is losing. We don’t want to just win the division, we want the division, the conference, the title!”

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.png

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (4-2) VS MIAMI DOLPHINS (5-1)

aw1art.thumb.jpg.3cecce0922edb7ae2b16d42ddf9720f7.jpgWOW! New England Coach Levi Vick’s is opening eyes with his tremendous Nassau coaching style putting LIEFL coaches on notice that there is a NEW Sherriff in town! Vick quietly put them in their place as his New England Patriots stormed into Miami to catch some fish!

These Patriots came ready, armed, and like powerhouse underdogs not only did they beat division rival Miami 21-14 on their home turf, but they dished out a heavy casualty to Miami Coach Billy O’C, who had no answer to stopping Rob Gronkowski running for 203 all-purpose yards and onward to the AFC Divisional Playoff Game! “Gronk’s” stellar performance puts him at 22-1260-5/3x 100TDS with all-purpose yards for the season at the top of the AFC for Coach Vick’s star player.

New England held Miami’s Mercury Morris to just 30-yards rushing. Miami’s damage was done on special teams by Mark Duper who rose to the occasion with 210 all-purpose yards with a hundred-yard kick return for a touchdown, but what happened to Jason Taylor leading the Dolphins defense?ad1art.thumb.jpg.5b117d0c64074413a1c95c6971d7b681.jpg He was handled by New England lineman Billy Yates along with Vince Wilfork who stopped Mercury Morris on a key fourth down to turn the ball back over to the Patriots who capitalized with a huge touchdown 62-yard touchdown catch by Rob Gronkowski to tie the game at 14-14. Miami was stopped again by a relentless New England defense, and it was Randy Moss who scored the game winning touchdown for the Patriots on a 27-yard strike!

The Patriots now have the momentum after stomping the back-to-back AFC Champions to win the AFC East title! It’s Miami’s second defeat in as many games! If for anything else, this New England team should be respected for climbing to the top of the AFC after earlier losses to Miami 10-7 and the New York Jets 21-10, but can they finish or will they and Miami fold? Vick worked hard on rebuilding these Patriots mid-season and now he has a chance to make history in just his second year as a LIEFL coach!

This is a much different team than the 2016 Patriot team who made it to the LIEFL Super Bowl XII when Dexter Bussey and the Detroit Lions beat them 42-17.

The Patriots are on the rise and the hottest team in the AFC!

This has been the best LIEFL season ever and the balance of teams, the competitiveness, and coaches in this league has been nothing short of impressive with Week #7 on fire with UPSETS! The playoffs will be filled with excitement!

The Patriots are beginning to look like Buffalo in 2017, when the Bills had their LIEFL Super Bowl run.

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngWASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-3) VS NEW YORK GIANTS (4-2)aa3art.thumb.jpg.2aa1affa71033aeac03ca0967e05b9f2.jpg

(PHOTO: #44 Ahmad Bradshaw whizzes by Washington's #34 Tony Green for Bradshaw's 6th 100-yard touchdown run of the season for New York) Bradshaw has become one of the most dangerous threats in the LIEFL this 2022-23 season for Giants Coach Joey Pizz! Bradshaw is on a rampage, leading the NFC in kick returns with 17 returns for 1379 yards and six 100-yard touchdown runs for the Giants!  He finished the season amongst the top five in NFC all-purpose yards with 21 touches for 1457 yards with seven total touchdowns! But, will he shine for BIG for BIG BLUE in the NFC Playoffs this time around? The Giants will be tested and test teams as well!

When the the New York Giants lined up in front of the Washington Redskins for the second time this season we knew this would be a good one. Coach Viggs doesn't particularly like the two games against Washington, and nor is he a Giants fan, but that's the schedule. Today, the Giants won the battle against the Washington Redskins for the second time this season, clinching the NFC East against a Coach Viggs NO QUIT Redskins team. Coach Joey Pizz said, “It was sensational to watch my Giants clinch a playoff spot this year after last season’s huge letdown, but the competition is only beginning for us. aa2art.thumb.jpg.7328994c518169758a5aa4a53c5e3ea6.jpgI am confident after Bradshaw and Barkley’s performance today that we will be ready this coming weekend for battle! Coach Viggs, who plays the Packers, Redskins, Chargers and 49ers said, “In this league we have an 11-man roster so that means coaches must come armed with their best 11 guys on the field, the best All-Stars for each team that a coach can produce, the best of the best, vetted, and tested to endure and be ready to compete. We are not waiting for a coach to switch their offense and defense, it’s all or nothing, and it also makes choosing the best 11 players a coach’s greater challenge!” Coach Pizz said, “We don't have time to change offense to defense in a game, nor are we going to wait in this fast-paced game, it will never be that kind of a league, so it’s bring the best you have to put on that field.”aa1art.thumb.jpg.0a41bfbdce3dbb91da04d831f6b4c0d5.jpg

Stopping star running back Tony Green for the Redskins was no easy task. Green totaled 246 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, one a 100-yard kick return into the endzone. The game was action-packed with great matchups with the Giants Beast of the East Ahmad Bradshaw lead the way for Coach Pizz with a stellar performance. Bradshaw had 5 touches for 217 yards and his sixth 100-yard kick return of the season for a touchdown!

The Redskins have had an excellent season winning their 110th team game in the league. Coach Viggs said, “Sometimes the brakes don't go your way in this league or any League leaving us in a tough position like today playing in New York with the world against us, but the Giants are a good football team. The real test is playing teams like Carolina and my Packers, so I am ready!”

The Giants are the number one offense in the LIEFL now and boy, the NFC and AFC playoffs this year are going to be unbelievable. Giants running back Shaquon Barkley is having a big year! Barkley rushed for 101 yards on 9 carries with two rushing touchdowns of 21 and 30 yards.

The Giants finish (5-2) clinching the NFC Eastern Division title!

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngDALLAS COWBOYS (2-4) VS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (2-4)

We couldn't have imagined the game we were about to witness featuring the Eagles-Cowboys. The Cowboys might have one of the toughest schedules in the league, but Philadelphia Coach Matt Zoo-York says it baloney, “We all have tough schedules. Look I am here to compete I expect tough teams every week.”

aa4art.thumb.jpg.abca8dde41d33e8ee9857465142ea50f.jpgThe game started with a boom! Harold Carmichael, who has been quiet this season has a new player base, replacing his legendary one by Coach Zoo, and he is Back! Harold Carmichael is back in the last game of the season after Coach Zoo decided to put the ball back in hands after having issues this season being productive and that is the way it goes when a great player base suddenly doesn't perform, he's gone. The game started with the blazing hundred-yard touchdown return by Carmichael to set the tone for the game. Cowboys star returner Terrell Owens answered right back with an 88-yard kick return and one play later Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith was in the end zone running 12-yards into the endzone for the touchdown to tie the game at 7-7!

The Eagles answered with a recipe of Harold Carmichael who ran back his second consecutive 100-yard touchdown right down the center of the field with amazing speed, to make it Philadelphia 14 to Dallas 7!

On the very next return, Cowboys star return man Terrell Owens ran a 44-yard return and after being stopped on three straight runs by the Eagles defense led by Hugh Douglas, Emmitt Smith found himself with nowhere to go, forcing a fourth down situation with the Cowboys backs against the wall. On 4th down Cowboys emerging star in the league Michael Irving, who ran a 75-yard touchdown last week into the end zone against Arizona, did the same thing tonight from 83 yards away on a beautiful strike! Irvin took a blazing and electrifying touchdown run into the endzone, what a play! Irvin might be the fastest man in the league, and he may be voted All-Pro for the first time, the Cowboys may have two receivers make LIEFL All-Pro.aa5art.thumb.jpg.e6ec90216157489b344496b9e3f05741.jpg

With the score tied at 14, this time Harold Carmichael ran back a 46-yard kick return, but one play later Eagles running back Keith Byers exploded for 54-yard touchdown run around the Left end to make the score 21-14 with Philadelphia in charge

The last drive for the Cowboys was just as explosive as the Eagles, with Cowboys LIEFL All-Pro Terrell Owens BOOMING an electrifying 100-yard kick return for the touchdown, making the score 21-21 with under 3 minutes left to go in the game! What a game!

The Eagles (3-4) didn’t finish yet. Running back Keith Byars helped to run the clock out, and then on 4th down with just seconds to go in the game Irving Friar caught a 20-yard rocket to win the game 28-21!  What a show!

After a great season last year and making the playoffs, Dallas went (2-5) this season to a rough NFC East. Coach Levi Vick said, “I am determined to keep this team competitive. It shows how much the league is growing when things like this happen. My Cowboys are a darn good two-win football team. We’ll see. I think I am going to be looking for at least one linebacker in the draft in February. I would like to see Terrell Owens make All-Pro.

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngCHICAGO BEARS (3-3) VS MINNESOTA VIKINGS (2-4)

Going into this game with the Minnesota Vikings (2-4), the Chicago Bears (3-3) had a chance for the post season as a frontrunner to be an NFC Wild Card team. They had an intense and successful season last year, but it looked like this year could be their year at the start of the 2022-23 season. The NFC North is one of the toughest divisions in the LIEFL not just because of the coaching but because of the great players from each team in the division. It seems the division prides itself on defense but with names like Sharpe, Gault, Bussey and Peterson playing, coaches must understand how to prepare for these proven-track guys, and how to limit them from causing chaos.

The Vikings started the season hopeful, and they are a team that only got better week by week. They opened the season losing their first two on the road to Cincinnati and Arizona, but then they beat the Seahawks at home, lost to these Bears in Week #4, 7-3, and then they won their last two out of three, beating the Rams, and finally, losing to the Packers 17-14 in a war!  Taking on the Bears again in their last game of the season with a chance to eliminate them was a great feeling for Coach Pizz. He said, “If we can’t go to the playoffs, why should the Bears? This is competition man, it ain't no chicken coup!”

Adrian Peterson is the key to the Vikings success. Peterson has over 200 yards in special teams twice this season, but he's also had four 100-yard kick returns for touchdowns on his 71 carries. He’s dangerous on the open field so the Bears need to figure out a game plan to close the gaps Peterson is most likely to take, but if you don’t scout his patterns, the challenge could be imposing for defenses.

aa6art.thumb.jpg.9f79a2f0724ea94a2e9ae20b7ac67a12.jpgThere were some hard hits in the game. Bears defensive tackle Richard Dent had zero tackles in the game. In the first five plays he let the Vikings font line know that he was in the game by making three tackles in five plays. The game was intense.

Adrian Peterson played fantastically. He left Dent and Chicago’s defense disappointed today touching the ball 12 times for 150 all-purpose yards with two crafty touchdowns in the Vikings 14-7 win over the Bears, eliminating them from playoff contention. Peterson rushed for 64 yards which allowed the emerging Vikings to kill the clock and control the game. Vikings Coach Joey Pizz was thrilled. He said, “I love this team and I am proud of them. We won’t be pushovers for anyone in this league or any league. We want teams to know when you come to Minnesota you won’t leave happy in this league. It is war!”

That Giants victory last week by the Bears 17-14, built Coach Paddy Brannigan's confidence going into this game. Brannigan said, “Anytime you have a guy like Willie Gault on your team there's always going to be a chance to win. It seems every team in this league has Superior special teams, that's one of the keys to the game because the great players set up the great running backs for success.” Gault had his biggest game of the year in LIEFL Week #1, with 182 yards on kick returns and 100-yard touchdown. The Vikings were able to contain Willie Gault to just 93 yards and it was Adrian Peterson who was unstoppable. Peterson’s two touchdowns runs of 6 and 24 yards in front of Carl Eller’s blocking freed him into the end zone. The Vikings never looked back!

aa7art.thumb.jpg.e877fcf0f790aabaa4772f208f29c556.jpgThe biggest eye opener for Minnesota is the front line and their defense. Carl Eller is in the running for All-Pro. He had eight tackles this season and the last time Eller made All-Pro was 2018. The front line of Alan Page, Jim Marshall and John Randall have been very consistent, especially in the second half of the season for the Vikings. Coach Pizz is gunning for some tough linebackers in the LIEFL February Draft.

LEAGUE TRASH TALKER HAS BEGUN

The trash talking has begun by League mouth and sore loser, Coach Johnny-Freeport Chucker who said, “We have mentioned this before in these articles, but the game doesn’t stop to turn players in the NFL, or set up passing sticks, etc. Obviously, I can't stand the Vikings, they are my enemy and so are the Bears. What is fine for some is not for others. We create our own great competition by having our own tournaments with highly skilled coaches who are a dime a dozen in this game around the world. I can compete in any tournament around the world. You are paying for all my expenses, food, hotel, car, and then I am not playing unless you are competing for a good sum of money in the thousands. Put your money where your mouth is! There is a huge incentive and motive to be the best when there is fair game involved.” League Commissioner Billy O’C said, Chucker can talk all he wants. Let’s see him win this year’s Super Bowl with all that talk. Easier said than done.”

“Skill is how each league defines it, how each coach performs, and however we see fit for that $3200 dollar pool at the end of a brutal season with metal board warriors. I don’t know about these guys in the LIEFL, my teams are coming to win, said Coach Paddy Brannigan.”

The LIEFL system and picks will always be the 11 best player bases that each coach can find from thousands of player bases expected to perform at whatever the highest-level standard the league reaches. Guys who were great last year might be trash this year. Naturally it's hard to compare one League to the next but the point is, the vetting process is everything. Our newest addition to the league Coach Levi Vick said, “I love it, each week teams get better and better and the coaches more competitive. It’s good to have four teams, but hard to manage, but I never quit, I want to win.”

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngSEATTLE SEAHAWKS(2-4) VS ARIZONA CARDINALS (2-4)

After last weeks crushing of the Detroit Lions, the Seattle Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals in their season finale. One has to ask how does this Seattle team beat up on their opponents at home, yet they can't win on the road?

We asked Coach Paddy Brannigan what he is doing differently to prepare for home games versus away games and he said, “As you all know electric football can be mystifying and unexplainable. You can have your team beating the daylight out of a team on offense and they're the same exact 11-men doing the same exact thing, but on defense they might get their butts handed to them. There’re just some things when it comes to physics of electric football that we can't explain it's hard to define why these little plastic figures do this.”

a2.thumb.jpg.a6377389b392ea905a0b93afc8d54463.jpgIt was Marshawn Lynch again who punished the Cardinals defense in this game carrying his Seahawks to a thrilling 17-14 UPSET on the road! Lynch had 17 touches in the game for 245 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, including 92-yards rushing! His biggest run of the day was a 42 yard scamper into the endzone to shock the Cardinals (2-5). Arizona specialist Mel Gray had 141 yards on returns with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown, but running back OJ Anderson was stopped by the Seahawks gaining only seven yards on four rushes.

Beating Chicago, Detroit, and now Arizona is no easy feat, but it shows how fast a team can improve in the league. The Seahawks fell just shy of making the playoffs. The battle to the end in the league has been exhausting watching teams collapse.

Worth the mention is Cardinals tackle Conrad Doebler. He had four tackles in the game trying to stop Lynch. Seattle Coach Paddy "Moose" Brannigan celebrated the destruction of Arizona's playoff hopes saying, "Hey, why should they make the playoffs on the back of my team? We weren't having it. We are a way better team than what we showed with a (3-4)record." Marshawn Lynch had another incredible season carrying this Seattle team. He finished the season with 1469 all-purpose yards with 13 touchdowns with 623 rushing yards in 2022-23! He'll be back!

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngCAROLINA PANTHERS (5-1) VS TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (2-4)

Carolina Panthers and Coach Kevin Maloney knew that they had to come out for the kill today and not let this Buccaneers team embarrass them the way the Tampa Bay did the Rams and the Jets. Coach Joey Pizz set out to unravel the Panthers today improving his game and the Buccaneers every step of the way in each game, but it wouldn't be easy. The Panthers have made it to the playoffs four times in the last five seasons with two of those appearances making it to the NFC championship Game only to walk away disappointed.a32art.thumb.jpg.46178931d0ccf0a8538b411d7e8ab33e.jpg

The fireworks began early and Pizz Bucs sent a message early on that it would be a war regardless of it being the final game of the 2022-23 LIEFL season. The game kicked off with Tampa Bay star Jimmie Giles picking up where he left off last week against the Jets with a blazing 100-yard touchdown run to open the game as the LIEFL coaches shows their enormous special teams skills. It is so exciting! That didn't stop the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers gave the Tampa Bay a taste of their top return man Greg Jones, a guy no one knows much about, ran back an electrifying 100-yard kick return in the game, his third of the season, to tie the score, 7-7!

On the next set of downs it was Jimmie Giles again who returned the ball 58 yards. And after three failed running plays by the Buccaneers, Dave Moore caught a beautiful 17-yard touchdown pass to give Tampa Bay a 14-7 advantage!

On the ensuing kickoff Greg Jones blasted off with a speedy 72-yard kick return back to the 28 yard line of Tampa Bay when he was turned by his own man preventing him from another hundred yarder. play On the first run from scrimmage in the series, Panthers running back DeShaun Foster took it around the corner for a 28-yard touchdown run into the end zone to tie the game at 14-14!

a45art.thumb.jpg.77becd9681c52a64f50c6ac94a3f8ab7.jpgTime was running out on the clock, but Giles made one of the most important returns to the 48-yard line, setting up Bucs fullback Mike Alstott  for a gorgeous 33-yard touchdown scamper right through the middle of the field to make the score 21-14, Tampa Bay in the lead! This nifty play by coach Pizz wowed Coach Mac. "I have to give Pizz credit on his play calling because we have basically dominated teams on defense this season, but it seems no matter how stiff the competition, when it comes to playing teams in the division, its always going to be exciting."

Greg Jones (PHOTO LEFT) sped past Buccaneers defenders for 48-yards on the kick return to set up Jeff King for a 34 yard reception with an open field, but King didn't get the job done.  Carolina just flat out ran out of time and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4) Got the last poke of the season at the Carolina Panthers (5-2) who are headed to the playoffs!
There is much to be excited about for Coach Pizz heading into next season for these Buccaneers and it will be a season to remember!
Holding Foster to 28 yards rushing is a huge success. Jimmie Giles finished the game with four touches for 241 yards with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown. Giles has been spectacular! For Carolina, Greg Jones touched the ball three times for 220 yards and a 100-yard kick return!

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngKANSAS CITY CHIEFS (4-2) VS DENVER BRONCOS (2-4)

It is yet another high-impact game between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West to close out the season. Denver's record is not what they are capable of after making it to the playoffs last season for the first time in But the Broncos boast one of the most exciting players in the LIEFL for the past two seasons, Terrell Davis AFC Offensive Player of the year in 2020! The Chiefs have surprised on offense handing the ball back to their solid running back Priest Holmes who before this game was in the top three rushing in the AFC with 45 rushes for 543 yards with 8 touchdowns, including a 60 touchdown run!

Denver running back Terrell Davis opened the game with a spectacular 87-yard kick return! Davis led by Lineman Paul Smith ran a 12-yard run touchdown on his first carry of the game, 7-0 Denver! Kansas City came out of fire, not backing down to their division rival with a Tyreek Hill 75-yard kick return to set up running back Priest Holmes and one play later Holmes found himself buried on a pile in the endzone for the score to tie the game at 7-7!

a87art.thumb.jpg.cece63bed7f1a120b2655cf6c84e0af6.jpgDenver receiver Ed McCaffery has been steady all season for the Broncos when they need him most and the Kansas City defense played hard in the game forcing the Broncos to abandon the run at times. McCaffrey would catch two touchdowns in the game for the Broncos for 15 and 21 yards in the game.

Kansas City came storming right back when Tyreek Hill ran back a 75-yard kick return to the Denver 25 yard line. One play later Kansas City running back Priest Holmes scooted to the right side for a 25-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7. From that point on the game was a back and forth battle until time ran out on Kansas City with the score tied at 14-14, the Broncos kicked the field goal to win the game, 17-14!
Denver's Terrell Davis finished the game with an explosive 16 touches for 274 all-purpose yards, but the Chiefs defense didn't let him score. It was McCaffrey who did the damage with 36 yards and two touchdowns as the Broncos (3-4) go back to the drawing board to fix what was broken about the season.

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngLOS ANGELES CHARGERS (5-1) VS LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (3-3)

You couldn't find a better matchup for a season finale when it comes to the Raiders and the Chargers. These two division rivals have a history of battle, and when you have players like Casper and Tomlinson anything can happen. The Charges have dominated this year winning five games. Their only loss was in Week #3 against Kansas City, 17-14. The following week they beat the pants off of the Chiefs 21-7 in Los Angeles. But Coach Ed Viggs is nobody to take lightly in big games because it doesn't matter if he's on the road or at home, his teams are ready to play and his football play calling strategy is respected.

Las Vegas Coach Kevin Mac came with a positive attitude ready to go today. You have to be when you have a guy like Dave Casper and Bo Jackson behind the offense but something's been missing all year for these Raiders and it's the size of the players. Coach Mac said, "For 67 Big Men these guys are a little undersized and that does make a difference on the field because when you look at the Chargers and their monsters, you can see the size difference so I think after the season I will change the linemen and keep the runners the same.

Chargers special teams player Kellen Winslow Sr., came up with a big hit on Dave Casper on the opening kickoff which Casper returned for 38 yards. Two plays later Las Vegas lineman Gene Upshaw opened up the center of the field for Bo Jackson to squeak through for amazing, electrifying 62-yard touchdown scamper giving the Raiders the 7-0 advantage!

It would be five plays later that Chargers LIEFL All-Pro LaDainian Tomlinson would run a 14-yard touchdown into the end zone, showing the powerful front line that the Charges have played with for the last three or four seasons. These guys are for real. They have won an amazing 20 games with only three losses in the past three season this Los Angeles team. Coach Viggs says he is determined to change the finishing technique this season. The game was tied, 7-7.

a34art.thumb.jpg.b1819137b0df395f4ab5936c63957958.jpgOn the next set of downs the Raiders would advance the football 65 yards with Bo Jackson running for 21-yards and Dave Casper making up the rest on a 35-yard touchdown strike to give the Raiders the advantage, 14-7.

The Chargers weren't going to allow this Raiders team to control the clock with that tough defense of Earl Faison, Russ Washington and Ernie Ladd. LaDainian Tomlinson then had an 57-yard kick return as time was running out on the clock. One play later, Viggs hit Kellen Winslow for a beautiful touchdown catch to tie the game at 14-14. Coach Viggs timed the game perfectly and got his way by putting the game into overtime as the clock ran out on the Raiders. After winning the overtime coin toss, Viggs wasn't finished yet with the fireworks in overtime. LaDainian Tomlinson ran back an incredible 86-yard run giving the Los Angeles Chargers (6-1) all they needed to seal their 6th win and ern home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs! The Chargers kicked a field goal to win the game in overtime 17-14!
Los Angeles will get a bye in the first round of the AFC Playoffs. They will play the winner of Miami and Cleveland. Miami beat the Chargers last in the AFC championship game 32-27 the last time they played! The Browns may surprise a few people. Tomlinson finished the game with 8 carries for 92 yards rushing with 283 all-purpose yards and a touchdown in the game!

1842510639_LIEFL495LOGO.png.19ff8d103c797a1931ab5e6798e2f747.pngSAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (3-3) VS LOS ANGELES RAMS (2-4)

Coach Ed Viggs San Francisco 49ers went (0-7) last season, but it didn't stop Viggs from explaining that this season would be different. Viggs said, "We had lots of really bad breaks, but you have to be able to move past your mistakes and learn from them if you want to win in electric football. My plan today will prove interesting for the Rams."

The game turned into another upset in the making as Coach Viggs backed down to no one in the season finale. As promised, he came ready! Billy O'C said, we've been cursed by Tampa Bay and Pirates! Losing that 7-6 game to the Buccaneers really irked me. We aren't playing like the LIEFL Super Bowl Champion Rams and that tells me how much better the league has gotten and it will only get more competitive.

It was the Reverend Isaac Bruce who carried the Rams in the game. Bruce had a beautiful 80 yard kick return for a touchdown in the game totaling 223 yards on three touches. Rams running back Wendall Tyler had only 37 yards on seven carries, but he had two touchdowns. The story of the day was San Francisco's Jerry Rice. Rice exploded for 252 yards with five touches and a touchdown reception! Running back Rickey Watters had 88 yards rushing for the 49ers, one of them for 46 yards!

The competition has caught up fast within two seasons as the Rams lose in the upset to end the season 24-21 in overtime to Coach Viggs San Francisco 49ers (4-3), sending the Rams packing for the first time in three seasons. San Francisco clinches the NFC West for the first time since 2017 when they lost in the NFC Divisional game to the then surging Detroit Lions.

Rams Coach Billy OC said, "We'll be back next year. We still have great talent on this team. I believe the talent has finally caught up in this league and that's exactly the kind of League you want to be in where your great teams may be great one year, but the next year it's a whole different story because of the draft!" What a season!  On to the LIEFL Playoffs!
