So I'm in the middle of tricking out my Road Bills team, paint is finished--and I'm debating whether or not the shoulder numbers are worth the headache (and eyestrain)--and I'm finished with the decals for the D. No, I'm not recreating any particular team or players, this is strictly for gameplay. I use a little poster putty to hold them in place as I work on them individually. Not only does it give me a visual sense of progress, but the cat can't knock the whole team onto the floor again!
You can see I incorporated the "Mean Thirteen" and they mix really nicely. Of course, with the Tudor decal sets only including stripes and logos for ELEVEN, I'll likely have to hand paint those on my two remaining special teams players.
A few questions I'd like to toss out there:
1) Are the shoulder numbers worth the effort?
2) On these figures, are the chinstraps a detail with diminishing returns?
3) How do you prep the facemasks? Do you prime them before rolling them , or after? Or do you need to prime them at all, just go directly to paint?
Thanks for any advice you can give!
Definitely prime first. You will end up layering painting on that mask and it will look lumpy. If your after fine detail the shoukder numbers are worth it. Just a learning curve and a little extra time.

Wow......awesome job, if you don't mind me asking how many hours does art work like that take?
And what is the secret to the incredible real look turf that you have created, that is off the hook amazing!!
Thank you. Each figure is approx. 2-3 days of going back and fourth painting and 24-48 hours of sculpting and drying time materials.

That's clean. How large will the team be when finished?
I haven't decided yet. I was going to do 13 offense 13 defense(in white) but I don't know, now that they have canceled the league. I may do just offense 12-13.

Had a good time doing these 49ers. I only started them because I had just finished the Chiefs, and I thought they would make a good match. Upon completion I was very happy the results. Although the only thing missing was the "49ers" on the front TV the jersey. Although I hate to see them go. I am happy they will reside with the chiefs owner. Hope you guys enjoy👍🏽

You know if Megawattz is still around? I haven't heard anything more about em!
I don't think so. Maybe with this new awesome forum, you may be able to find someone that has some.

Any suggestions for a primer?
Home depot. Any primer will work. Run the primer under some hot water for 30 seconds. It will give you a fine mist. Hold the figure approx 7-8" inches away and spray away😁

I enjoy decaling the standard Tudor player figures, but the quantity of the poses for the standard eleven man team don't work out correctly for a 4-3-4 defense. In other words, when decaling a defense I don't want to have the three guard figures. I'm fine with two, but would prefer if I could swap one of the guard figures for a linebacker figure. Does anyone know of a way I could buy/swap individual figures for teams I've bought?
There are plenty of figures manufacturers now. Just google it. You can buy many poses and individual figures.

That's even far more impressive! I would love to paint numbers and stripes on the figures but my old hands shake too much.
You can always put decals on and paint over them for practice.

Thank you. I made my own chin straps. I'm kinda old school. I try and make as much as I can. I have seen the chin straps though. They look nice.
