USC @ BAMA

Recommended Posts

Following the high scoring classic between LSU and Florida, we have what should be another good one between Alabama Crimson Tide and USC Trojans. The Tide is led by the second leading rusher Marion Chapman who currently has 146 yards on the season. He will look to continue his dominance in week 2 against a stout USC run defense lead by EDGE Adam Butler who had 3 tackles, 2 TFLs, and a pressure in a 28-21 victory over Auburn. USC looks to upset Bama on the road, the key for them to do so will be… Stop the run and Possess the ball. Alabama had 7 more plays than Texas last game which is the reason they were able to come out on top. Bama is the favorite at home by 3.5, O/U 49.

USC opens the game with 2 long runs with RB Rodney Clement which leads to a quick TD. The Tide follow it up with a run of their own, RB Marion Chapman takes it 75 yards for a TD tying the game 7-7. It’s fireworks early as 3 straight passes to 3 different receivers from Aiden Collins leads the Trojans to the end zone TD pass caught by Davon Cooks. Marion Chapman keeps fire taking a 35 yards rush into opposing territory where Caleb Leake throws a 25 yard TD pass to Greg Dunn who beats the double coverage on a post.IMG_9970.thumb.jpeg.43e349bf1c804228f6436c7782d9e633.jpegIMG_9968.thumb.jpeg.54955336e9bd71867e0b8bbdd4b9506b.jpegIMG_9969.thumb.jpeg.51fae3c9b940f10d5cf2d0bfdfdc0ac7.jpeg

Following the Bama TD, the Tide defense finally kicks it up a gear where DT James Woods shows off his dominating power speed combo for a TFL and LB Nick Chase disrupting back to back plays leads to a 4th down. On the punt Nick Chase for a 3rd play in a row makes an impact blocking the kick putting Alabama at the 10 yard line, one handoff later and Chapman is in the end zone to take a 21-14 lead over USC. USC quickly drives down field with 2 quick run plays and 2 pass plays then caps it off with a 10 yard run for a TD by Rodney Clement for his second of the game. With little time left Alabama decides to take a risk and try to score and on just the second play TE Jermaine St. Pierre gets wide open downfield and Caleb Leake throws an absolute beauty right in the basket and JSP takes it in for an easy TD.

SCORE AT HALF: BAMA 28 USC 21

Bama received the ball at half and wasted no time with a designed run to RB/WR Greg Dunn then a designed screen that he takes all the way to the house taking a 35-21 lead. Alabama’s defense forced USC to take an entire quarter scoring with a pass to WR Jaxson Tate. Then the Tide would respond 5 plays later with a long 56 yard run from backup RB Jerome Carmichael to retake the 2 possession lead 42-28. USC runs out of time unable to reach the end zone after that, FINAL BAMA 42 USC 28.

GAME MVP: N. Chase: 1 tack, 1 sack, 4 pres, 1 punt blk(The punt blk turned the game around otherwise i would’ve given it to Chapman)
