Field Cover removal question

Capa

Recommended Posts

I have an Ultimate board that came with a vinyl cover adhered to it.  I like the option of using magnetic covers to easily swap out different ones.

I use the battery operated controller with 2 field motors wired to the splitter.  My question is, how do you remove a vinyl cover and since I am using the battery operated controller with one field drive on the 20 and the other on the other 20, will I see a reduction in performance due to the heavier magnetic covers?

Thanks for any and all info!

Chris

However, I would not recommend it.

Agreed. I tried this with a vinyl field cover I applied and I warped my field because the metal bent before the vinyl released.

If you must remove the vinyl then I'd recommend patience.

In my experiences,  I prefer the way my players run on the vinyl covers compared to the magnetic.  I was excited about the idea of having a bunch of fields I could easily change out, but I was disappointed when I layed the magnetic cover over my vinyl field.  The vibration really was dampened.  So, I decided to buy a new mini ultimate field to use with the magnetic covers, but I still have some performance issues of dead spots and players slowing down.  I added an extra motor and keep experimenting with placement.  I do like the look of the covers and continue to play on them.  I just wish they performed closer to the vinyl.

You know, there is something going on when you mix magnets with electricity. I'm no Nikola Tesla (No s*** Sherlock! Newsflash!), but could that have sumpn to do wid it? I've got both but I think the extra motor thing might be the fix, if it is placed perfectly, of course.
