Illegal Leg Whip?

Illegal Leg Whip?

  1. 1. After watching the attached video, do you think the Defensive End used an illegal leg whip to stop the forward progress of the ball carrier?

    • Yes. Definitely a Leg Whip. The back of the Defensive End's base whips around and knocks the ball carrier backwards.

    • No. Incidental contact. The Defensive End is being hit by blocks from three different directions. Hitting the ball carrier was accidental.

Well, in my weirdness,

It wouldn't count as anything as I play any touch tackle. He made contact with one of the opposing teammates before the alleged penalty in question so he would be down at that point. Thus, I voted no leg whip.

Even though, I play pro-offense, any discrepancies are awarded to the home team's favor if a clear decision can't be made. Not being much help here, it is ultimately your call, sorry.

Blessings, 🙂

If it occurred in my solitaire league, it would be a legal tackle, as I also count any touch as a tackle.  My reasoning is that you do see players sometimes get blocked into a ball carrier and end up with a tackle.  Not sure what rules you use for tackling, but it looked to me like he was blocked into the ball carrier anyway, so no leg whip in my opinion... 🙂
