Howd you get that unbelievable board?!!?

Holy cow, man! What a beaut! Those players and bases literally pop off the board. Western Pennsylvania coal country, huh?

When I saw the SUNY Morrisville black astro turf I already had a niche for the 'colored-turf' idea because of Boise State Smurf Turf and Eastern Washington red turf...

... And I had an old Miggle Ultimate-size field just leaning against my wall...

.... And I had a Tudor anodized aluminum frame just leaning against the same wall...

So, about 2 pm on Saturday afternoon I started spray painting the Miggle field. Flat black. The temperature was in the 90s and in mile-high Cody we had an UV index number of +8 so the flat black paint dried almost instantly. Using my wife's oven mittens I brought the field into my studio about 5 pm. Using a white GellyRoll 8-point pen I lined the field. Lining, numbering, and lettering the field carried over and consumed most of Sunday. My wife, Kitty, used her Cricut Cutter to make the stencils. On Monday I waited until the temp hit 90 and the UV index hit 8 again and then I started spray painting with Krylon clear satin. Six coats later I had a surface I really liked.

Sometime late Monday I secured the playing field to the anodized frame with double-sticky tape. I attached two Tudor motion-generators and turned on the juice. Kitty asked, "Now that it's finished — what's next?"

"Nothing left to do but play a game," I responded.

Now that I have the Back-in-Black field my wife predicts, "I doubt you'll play on any other field," and she's absolutely right!

All the players run the same as they did on my snow field, just a bit slower, but I don't see so fast anymore so the action seems to be about right for my old eyeballs.
