The Fantasy League was going to be based on everyone's Fantasy Draft teams. The rules were going to be the standard MFCA rules used in the tournaments. I think were going to use the 4.0 gram maximum per figure limit.

The fantasy draft was fun. If I remember correctly, it all started off innocently when someone (Jimbo?) on the old Miggle chat board asked, if you could draft anyone from the past or present, who would you pick for your football team? Guys started chipping in with their picks, I think Jim Brown was the first pick, After a bit, it got suggested that you couldn't take someone that somebody else took. We went back and forth until we had a team of 25 or so players. I remember naming my team the Santa Cruz Tree Hugging Hippies and I had the most awesome running back in football history - Al Bundy - who once scored 4 touchdowns in a single game! About a year or so later we did it again with the intent of making that team our fantasy league team to use in a fantasy league tournament at the Miggle convention. That's where the Midwest Mennonites came from. They were Weirdwolf's fantasy team, and I made them for him. He told me to keep them for my fantasy league and are one of my favorites. My team from that draft is the New Zealand Zombies and is made entirely of my picks. I used to have the lists from both drafts, but they got lost when my laptop committed suicide some years back and I didn't have those files saved anywhere. I don't know how many people made teams from their picks, but it was a lot of fun having the draft.

Chris, maybe we could try the Postal League again? I was going to set it up, but Covid came along so it got sidelined. It was fun. Set up your team to a max 4.0g per player and mail them to whoever was scheduled next. Different teams, playing on different boards by different coaches using different rules. What could be more challenging????

Reaching out to Brian here. Miggle started it off when they came out with the London Union Jacks and Munich Moon Sharks. I don’t know how many of those 2 teams have been sold, but I think if there was an actual Tudor Fantasy League with 8-10 fantasy teams available, maybe it could work, especially for younger kids who aren’t up to the NFL, but would like to play with imaginary teams instead? I have a few ideas, like the Egypt Ra, New Zealand Zombies, and the Hawaiian Fire Lizards for examples. Anyone else interested???.

I use Elmer's White Glue. Use a toothpick and put a tiny bit of glue in each corner of the helmet and at the top of the helmet if it's a full face mask and apply the mask. The glue dries transparent and I haven't had any come off, but I also clearcoat the figures after the glue has dried with a tiny bit of clearcoat at the same spots to be sure the mask stays put

My old NFL teams were made using TV guide rosters and watching a few minutes of the game so I could get the skin tones and the players positions correct - left guard vs right guard or left corner back vs right corner back etc. Unfortunately, sometimes the starting player was injured and I wasn’t familiar enough with the team to know it. That’s how I got Neil O’Donnell for the Titans QB instead of Steve McNair. It took me a year to realize the mistake and correct it though it really didn’t matter much, They still lost to the Rams anyways.

Just curious if anyone out there is playing Civilization 6. My son got me this game last Christmas and I have to say that Civ6 is awesome! It’s pretty intensive and complicated at first, but once you understand the basics it’s a blast. My favorite Civs to play are Gilgamesh and Frederick of Germany and dropping nukes on everyone else is so much fun. Anyone?????.

Ok, and as for technique, I painted one fat, or wide stripe. Then I would paint a not as wide stripe in the middle of that one so that it looked like 2 thin stripes surrounding a medium stripe. Then I painted a thin stripe in the middle of the medium stripe so that it looked like 5 thin stripes. Works for me!

I started painting a 70’ Redskins team way back in the late 70’s. I got 5 guys done and gave up because of the stripes. Then in the mid 90’s my son, who was around 7 at that time, got interested in electric football and I started painting again, doing a 49ers team for him. After painting a few more teams I was looking at a football magazine when I realized that the Redskins had changed their stripes to a much simpler design, so I finished the team using the new uniforms. I kept one 70’s player just to remind myself at how I once was able to paint those helmets and stripes without a magnifying glass. That team is now the Cherokee Nation in my fantasy league.

Rams lose to the Vikings again. Arrrggghhhh….. I can’t take it. I was up at Lake Shasta camping with my parents that weekend (1969) when the Rams and Vikings played up in Minnesota. Watched the game on a portable TV set in that motor home. There was almost as much snow on the TV as there was outside. Cried my eyes out after that loss. Only took 52 years to finally be able to say LOS ANGELES Rams, Super Bowl Champs.

You may want to consider which type of pint you are going to use. Acrylic paint is usually thin and most likely will need a couple of coats to cover. They are easier to keep the brushes clean than enamels are, but are pretty brittle and flake off after drying, so you will need a clear coat when you are done. Enamels can often cover with one coat, so you can paint right over the stock figures without priming if you want. When dry, enamels are tough as nails and are hard to chip off so a clear coat isn’t necessary. Acrylics come in a better variety of colors, but enamels work better when doing things like stripes where you only want to do them one time instead of having to add a second coat. Whichever you use, be patient and take your time. Invest in a good magnifying glass stand to help you with small details and get 2 brushes in each size. Use one for whites and yellows only and the other for colors so that paint doesn’t bleed. Nothing worse than using what you thought was a clean brush to paint a white jersey only to discover than the brush till had a little red in the bristles and now that white jersey is pink.

Miggle brought a few of those to the convention, I think it was Detroit. The one thing I remember was how easy it was to break the goalie control stick. They lasted all of about 2 minutes.

I use a simple method. I line up the kicking team at the 30 and the return team at the 50. Then I place a football at the 40 on either the left or right hash mark. I turn all the players towards the ball then turn the board on. The first player to touch the ball recovers it. In the event of a tie then the ball goes to the receiving team. I found this works best on a big (2x4) board. If playing on a 620 field then I set the teams 15 yards from the ball at the 25 and opposing team’s 45 to give them more room to run. It has been working for me in my solitaire seasons.

My friend taught me how to play way back in 1974. He glued BB's under the 5 offensive linemen and 2 RB's (to keep the RB's from jumping and turning when you first turn the board on) The defense was allowed 5 players with BB's. This added just a touch of weight to make them a little stronger without being overly strong. All my solitaire teams are built this way and works well so you don't have to tweak every single base. Just glue the players to the base, turn them upside down and put a drop of Elmers white glue in the hole in the base and add the BB. On bases without holes, I use an Exacto knife to rough up the underside of the base a little for the glue to hold and glue the BB in the middle. Let them set overnight and you are good to go.
