  1. The decals look so much better than the stick on numbers. I have had a couple tear from handling the players, so I usually clear coat them after applying.
  2. Yup. I'm thinking all my EF stuff will just go in the trash when I go. Wife isn't wholly supportive, and (as with many husbands' hobbies) not quite all expenditures have been wholly disclosed. Same with my guitars and amps. But my 28 yo son plays in my league, so I'm hoping he'll grab it all when the time comes.
  3. Ultimate motor is driven by AC. Well, DC actually, but you get a transformer that plugs into the wall to to provide the power.
  4. Wow he's put a lot of effort into all that. Cool.
  5. It is kinda weird. But maybe sales of the 9092 were cutting into Ultimate sales? I have an Ultimate and a number of vintage 620-size boards (fourth is getting shipped as I type). I won't play on the middle or small boards anymore. I love playing on the big board, but I also really like the old 620s. Ultimate offers a lot of room to develop plays, but it also is a lot of field to defend. If you scale the traditional passing sticks to the ultimate "yard," passes are a good bit harder to complete (we scaled the measuring stick to the ultimate but use 620 placement sticks to remedy this). If I'm intrducing the game to someone, I always pull out a 620.
  6. Sorry had to make an unexpected trip to a ski mountain last night to pick up #4 son, so I forgot to check for the flags. Will try again tonight.
  7. I could probably mail you a set. I'll check later tonight.
  8. I've had both tackles fade back (TTC dial turned 180*) when in shotgun in a Hail Mary-type situation. But I hadn't thought of doing it to get a receiver open. I like it, and I'm going to steal it lol.
  9. That makes more sense. I was thinking you meant for all plays.
  10. Interesting. We use passing sticks, and I've thought about adding in the QB pressure element. But our completion percentages are pretty realistic, so we decided not to make them any harder. One thing we did was limit the defense to pivoting only one player to react to the pass. Previously, defense could turn all unengaged players to react. We also eliminated any defensive reaction if the receiver was wholly within ten yards of the LOS and fully between the numbers, in order to make throwing short over the middle possible. It did do that, but we are going to tweak this rule. On old fields especially, there's a LOT of grass between the numbers. One thought is defense can pivot one defender to react when the receiver is in said zone, but he has to be farther from the placed ball than the receiver is. We're still thinking about it, and any suggestions are welcome.
  11. Not sure I follow. Especially the "fair to both players" part.
  12. I've been wanting to make one of these for a while now. I like the one-post designs.
  13. Oh--I also usually started most plays as pass plays, QB in shotgun. But I also had a back set for a run. If the pass wasn't there, I'd dump it to the back. Basically an option play.
  14. Wooden frame with a metal field, or even the field is made of wood? My old 600 field is made from fiberboard. It actually plays quite nicely. But it does have the drawback of not being magnetic (we use pass placement).
  15. Now you'll need to abandon those two teams and start on the (ugh) Eagles and Chiefs!
  16. Solitaire can be tricky. I read your play selection dice rolling post, and it makes sense for solitaire. When I played solitaire, I’d just stick with a pro-set formation on all plays except 3rd and more than 5 yards, where one of the backs in the backfield would be moved to the slot. I had a base defense that I set up the same for most plays, plus a defense for obvious pass plays and obvious run plays. Then, during the game, I would always try to make the offense (of both teams) successful. I felt all this made it pretty fair.
  17. In our league, each team has its own actual field, so there's a natural home field advantage in sense that you get to know the quirks of your own board much better. Last season the breakdown was: Bills (me) early 600 Sports Classic NY Giants Blue late 660 NY Giants White Ultimate (team folded 2/3 of the way in) Albany Pop Warner Titans 610 Miggle Super Bowl Lions 610 AFC field Broncos '67 620
  18. Sock stripes are definitley hard, especially on the figures where the lower leg is at a low angle to the platform. But I much prefer the look of painted teams to the UniForms. At least the ones I completed.
  19. I've used Solva-Set over Testors enamels without issue. Not sure about other paints, though.
  20. They look great. I was 4 in ‘72, and the dolphins are my first NFL memory. I asked for a Dolphins varsity-style jacket for Christmas, but my grandmother didn’t like the colors so she bought me a Redskins one instead lol. This was in Giants country.
