  1. I prefer electric football when it's focused on the plastic guys and metal field.

When I played solitaire, I had three offensive formations (pro set for normal,  extra receiver in the slot for obvious pass plays, and a heavy run). Three defensive formations (base 4-3, dime, and goal line run d).

Down and distance would dictate both teams' formations. I always had at least one RB in the backfield so I could run or pass the ball. Also, I could dump the ball to the RB if receivers weren't open on a pas play.

I tried to set up the defense as best I could (taking into account what the offense was able to do), but I would always try to move the ball with the offense for both teams.

Seems kinda formulaic, but we all know how the players can have a mind of their own. So running the same play against the same defense gives different results each time.

  2. Ok, so I was checking out the Cowboys. There's 11 players, but instead of the normal configuration there's only one "all-purpose" (what I use as OTs) and three "sprinters."  But the paint jobs all match, so it's not a mix I don't think. The pants are more of a blue/silver, different from another old Cowboys team I have. And there's just a blob of blue on the helmet for the star. On the other Dallas team it's a plus sign. Lastly, they have black shoes and no "Hong Kong" under the platform, but the old team bags say "bag and players made in Hong Kong."

I need to glue an arm on one Rams "backer" (TE/QB for me) figure, and glue the ankles for another backer and a center/guard on Dallas. Three other players are just missing hands.

Rams team is missing the second backer.

  3. Just got a "new" 620 for the collection I mean league. Rams vs Cowboys, rookie bases so 1970-ish. Teams are Hong Kong, but not complete with a couple injured guys as well (which doesn't bother me). The field is in very nice shape. Little bit of a crown, as expected, but less than I've seen.

  4. 2 hours ago, Coach Shawn said:

I use two motor hookup with Tudor’s motors.  It works fine for me.

By using two motors I do not have to have one motor turned up extra high.

This helps avoid that high vibration spot near the motor and the dead spots away from the motor.

I placed one motor in each endzone at opposite corners.

I did the same before I got the GBN. It was better than with just one motor, but still glad I upgraded to the big ol' GBN.

Now I have a couple motors I can use on older game boards if/when the originals die.

  5. My Ultimate field has a slight sag, and I even fabbed up a support to "fix" it.  Don't use it at all anymore, as the sag is actually very slight and didn't affect play much at all.

As for the motor, I use a GBN electromagnetic motor.  Works FANTASTIC, and it mounts to the underside with magnets, so you can experiment to your heart's content with placement.

  6. Checked out the website--looks like they changed it.

Anyway, I'd ditch the Tudor motor and get the GBN electromagnetic motor anyway.  Need a couple blocks under the feet for clearance, but that motor makes the ultimate board run superbly.

  7. Yup. I'm thinking all my EF stuff will just go in the trash when I go. Wife isn't wholly supportive, and (as with many husbands' hobbies) not quite all expenditures have been wholly disclosed. Same with my guitars and amps.

But my 28 yo son plays in my league, so I'm hoping he'll grab it all when the time comes.
